I saw that and immediately downloaded Firefox!!! It has been great so far except a couple things that I would love to learn to fix....
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #76
Merry Christmas a day late Everyone!!
Jesse how are you hun? You haven't posted since you were worried about your blood pressure. I hope you called 911, just like Trisha said, it's better to call and have nothing wrong than to not call and have everything wrong. Sitting around worrying about it will only make it higher also.
I've been sick with a stupid cold and didn't come on yesterday. It sounds like everyone enjoyed their Christmas, it was just me and Dave lounging around the house. He has Walking Pneumonia so nothing was in our plans.
Liz I'm dreaming of CA right now, icy roads last week and now they're saying a tornado outbreak tonight into tomorrow from Dallas to Little Rock. I'm scared big time. I'm ready to move back to CA, but not really LOL.
Gita you are one going gal! When it comes time for a test he'll be wishing he had that gift. Ungratefulness is the worst.
Internet Explorer is not the best, that's for sure.
Hello there, just got in thank goodness...was in Walmart in Midland before the crows started to fly..no sales there for sure, think they underpriced everything before Christmas...did purchase 10 totes though for storing Christmas supplies...looked for tile to do a project in the washroom..3 stores and no tile, was nice and clear out so thought why not drive to Barrie but first come home and take measurements for new zinc and counter top (wanted it a pre-molded unit, closet door for washroom and a few other supplies for projects then left for Barrie..no sooner did I get maybe 10 minutes outside of Barrie major blizzard..did a quick run into Home Depot to check out the top and their standards were either much too long or too short so one unit is not possible..no tile...dropped into Michaels, almost bought a 'cricket' was on for $199.99 rather than the $399.99 but thought it was probably something I'd get a kick out of but not use, plus do many cd discs and attachments for it so quickly left there...
Rona did have some tile..I wanted color and a design but after thinking it out I decided that I could grout in a deeper color and it would look o.k. and that way if I wanted to change the shower curtain/curtains and towels I could go to any color..the tile I bought is just a 6" x 6" tile with a raised embossed square on it..very simple..I just want that mess cleaned up..so now with paper and pen I'll figure out the placement...
There was several other stores I'd have loved to drop in but thought with the storm better head home..did take Sailor and Cedric with me..they enjoyed the ride...needed to get them home safely..
Janice, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your day and that family will be with you today and for the weekend...as for me staying still, can't do, it's a very difficult time of year for me, with time on my hands well let's just say I get thinking and it can become overwhelming so best stay productive...
Gita, you roadrunner...lol...sounds as though you did enjoy your visit...we'll put him and my niece on the same list...note to self...NO Christmas gift next year...lol..it is annoying..bet the others though enjoyed what they received..truly in the upbringing isn't it...
Crissy hope there is big improvements in your health today both for you and DH..not nice being ill at Christmas...saw one of your photo's of fireplace..love the Santa..now you say you aren't a crafter but would you undertake another project??? hope the tornado passes you buy..we're all experiencing terrible weather aren't we...
I'm just as please to have stayed home...I figure at the end of my 2 week vacation I'll have my new lift top coffee table, washroom tile done, possibly door and new counter top and zinc and maybe even wallpaper the hallway..that way I can enjoy and see what my $$$ have provided...but secretly, I sure wish I could have gone...not worth taking your life in your hands though is it????
Fairy and all, going to check Firefox download link when I get a few minutes..
Off to eat and who knows might start that project that is waiting for me...lol
Dave bought me a sewing/crafting "basket" for Christmas. I loaded up all of my stuff into it yesterday afternoon. Of course I'd do another craft, it was fun!
I am deathly afraid of tornados, but it seems as though the chances are diminishing throughout the day. The Weather Channel said there is a good possibility for a tornado outbreak, another said there may be some tornados, Accuweather.com shows severe weather but no tornados, and the local NBC channel said slight risk of severe weather and a very slight possibility of a tornado. It seems as though the warm front moved through faster than they thought, last night they had it right over the top of us tonight with the cold front bumping into it, now they're showing the warm front way north of us into the middle of Missouri. Dave's staying home tonight so that's good. I was going to call my next door neighbor and ask if they wanted to babysit me LOL!!
Here's my craft basket:
Just stopping by to say Merry Christmas a day late to everyone. Running here and there but had a moment to log on.
At my sister's yesterday one of the family mentioned a website to visit that tells you about infomercial scams: http://www.infomercialscams.com/
I visited ti today too and was shocked to read some of the posts; there are a lot of bad people out there trying to scam others, what ever happened to "love thy neighbor"?
Have a good one everyone- wet and cold here but not, I am sure, as cold as some of you, so stay warm and cozy!
Terri
How about that one where you mail your gold to them and they send the correct amount of money back to you. I love that one!
Crissy love the basket, how thoughtful of DH to get you it for Christmas..he must have seen your interest..either that or he's giving hints..lol...so funny, getting neighbors to babysit you...
So glad the tornado is diminishing in strength..hate to think of the damage it could do..
Hello Terri, glad to hear you are safe..worried about all my DG friends travelling over Christmas holidays not knowing what kind of weather they are encountering or what dangers...
Was half listening to the t.v. new/weather while you guessed it, tiling my washroom..lol..said it would be stormy tonight, clearing then possibly mega rain..what a mess that would make..am sure I'd be flooded...but, won't worry till it happens right..
I'm probably almost 3/4 done my project..should stop but I'd have to clean the tile cutter saw and that would mean extra work..if I keep working most likely by 8 or so I'd be done..let it sit...then grout another day (perhaps tomorrow)...
Break finished, time to get back to work..
evening all,
just to let you know judy made it safe to deborah's
crissy lol i dont know which would be worse tornado's or earthquakes
long day so off to bed
I think the tornadoes are worse because they get them many times a year....we don't get get earthquakes all that often!
Good night....sleep well.
Morning all, Saturday so am hoping you all have a chance to re-coop before the New Year..
Worked on my tiling project till almost 8pm..wouldn't you know I ran out of adhesive for but a few tiles so will be visiting my favorite store-Home Depot first thing this morning..also have to mail Cedric and Bailey off to Janice..do hope that they make it there for New Years..rather difficult in posting with all the holidays and post office closed, in order to guarantee their arrival I would have had to post Christmas Eve day and they still might ot have arrived...had fun with this swap, my kids think I've gone 'over the edge' but that's ok..
Carol, are you getting the rain? wondered what was dripping this morning, thought I'd left the tap on but 'no' mild and rain..Greg won't be happy as he had 2 days scheduled for snowmobiling with my brother Mike and friends...with all this snow can you imagine the flooding that will occur..best watch Carol that our sump pumps are working...
Must get dressed, pack up packages and head to town...
Talk later..
Oh here is where I am so far in the washroom..still a few tiles on other side of enclosure and the grout yet to be done, but I'm happy, yet another corner cleaned up..
Bailey was giving me instructions...will miss these little 'critters'
Morning Betty,and all ..
Wonderful time with my family..my brother and his family left last evening to hopefully catch a flight to Barbados this morning. They braved the crowds yesterday to go shopping in Osahwa to get ski boots to go with the new skis and bindings that my brother gave to Gigi for Christmas..and they needed memory cards for all the electronics the younger ones received.
Betty ..I am on watch for the water leaking in..we had some coming in on Christmas Eve..but not too much. I had some Kingtite hydraulic cement left from patching last year so my nephews did some patching.,.
Just checked..no water so far..but the rain has started..I'll be ready with the wet vac..LOL
Woke up to thunder and lightening this morning a little after 7:00. The dog just freaks; she paces, hyperventilates, make a big baby of herself. You'd think at 12 she would know the thunder is not going to hurt her but she doesn't. Besides, shse is mad the snow is going away. She loves snow! We have temps in the 40's so fog possible and flooding since the snow can't go anywhere. A messy situation.
Same boat here, when I came back from the post office (that's another story) I thought why not as it wasn't cold burn all the wood from my past 2 months cutting and all the boxes and paper from Christmas..start cleaning the craft room before I go back to tiling..
No sooner started the fire that lightining and heavy downpour started, still raining..Sailor, OMG she just freeks, must watch wherever I walk because she's sure to be underfoot...got about 75% of it done, the rest will have to wait in the cubby of the downstairs entrance...I've got my main sump pump and the battery operated one as well, guess if one can't keep up the second will hopefully do so, but like you Carol, I've one weakspot near the back foundation, let's hope I'm not using that vacuum to suck up water..will go to the store next door and purchase a new battery for the water alarm, at least if I'm sleeping and it starts to come in I'll be warned and it will not get out of hand..haven't listenend to the weather to know if this is just for this aft. or if it will continue for any length of time...let's hope not, sounds as though we are all in 'worry' of flooding...
Mike on the way to town for Darlene stopped and picked up my snowblower..after the first tank of gas/5 hours it has to be serviced..was going to do it here but with the heavy rain decided to bring it to his shop..kind of them...
Got to the post office with several packages to mail, one being Cedric and Bailey..regular staff wasn't on duty, they trained this lady several months ago and she'd not been in since, guess with being off Christmas Day/Boxing Day they figured the 4hrs. open this morning and no pick up would be a piece of cake, not..she was unsure of what to do, tried everything and finally computer froze up..stood for about 1 hr. as she waited on clients and tried to get my parcels done..finally she asked as the mail isn't going out until Monday, couldn't I leave them and come back..no other way so did...
Spent the last 1/2 hr. crying..I am just so upset...
My BIL, next one to Roger, his name is Robert..was married to Barb who passed on several years ago..anyway he has a lovely girlfriend, I do love her..she just adorable, sometimes a scatterbrain but none the less adorable..anyway Robert asked her to marry him on Christmas...(which I knew as I had spoken to Robert) ...
Christmas Eve day I had gone into town to purchase flowers to make a few arrangements and ran back into town to deliver it to them....yesterday she called not only to thank me for the arrangement, said she was watering it and it should last some time, but to tell me of her engagement..most make fun of her but knowing how hard it is to fit into a family and his girls not liking her (no one can ever replace a 'mom) I always try to make her feel special..we joked about making her an honest women, taking her from the slums..lol...talked for about 1/2 hr...
About an hour or so ago Suzanne called, she asked if I had been speaking to Lorraine which I said I had and how we joked about making her an honest woman...Suzanne went on to tell me that it's all around the family that I was angry of this engagement and that I said something about taking her out of the 'swampl...j and I guess like most other 'rumours of sorts' that all were upset about my comments...shucks, I think it's wonderful and I wouldn't hurt a soul let alone be cruel..been there and know how hard it is to fit in...Suzanne told this person who told her that she would definately call me and let me know what was being said because there is not way she said that I would be cruel or hurtfull and she thought I should know...
So upset I am..tell you, I do try to be awfully kind and helpful to Roger's side of the family but there are a few, well let's just say if they can find anything and twist it around to make me the bad guy they will...so, not up to finishing my project nor cleaning..have a major headache..will take something and perhaps have a nap...
People!!!
OH Betty....
Big Hugs ((((((((((((( )))))))))))))))
Sure hope Lorraine clears this misunderstanding up.
Someone must have taken your joking out of context.
Anyone who knows you knows that you would never say anything bad about anyone, much less someone who was tell you about her engagement! If, after all this time, those in Roger's family who don't know that don't WANT to know the real you.
You may have to call this woman who is marrying Robert and tell her that you heard things were being said and you just want her to know that you are very happy about the engagement and welcome her to your part of the family.
Janice did that as soon as Suzanne called, she said she relayed how we were joking that he was making an honest woman out of her etc. and said she in no way implied any different..
I truly try to avoid gatherings with Roger's mom and some of the family in them..some of you know the story of when Roger was in the hospital begging me not to let them see him as he was, soiled, no underclothing, in pain etc. he truly thought he would be coming home and would see them then..dying to me was the easy part, being the one left alive explaining that I only did what was asked of me didn't sooth their hatred...hindsight is 20/20..knowing what I know now I'd not have asked them not to come or visit with him...years have gone by but the pain hasn't...so anytime they can, I'm made out to be the B*&^h....guess it's understandable...several of the 10 remaining sibblings have stayed by my side and that of my boys, the others, well let's just say they'd rather I didn't exist...guess that's why even though this is trivial to most, it hits hard...
Regardless of my staying in my own corner, my world, my home, it seems to follow me here...
Greg came for supper, said I cooked for 10..knew he'd be tired of turkey so cooked a roast..Mel and the boys are away at her bio mom and dad's till tomorrow night...I cooked 2 of his favorite pies, will have to send some home with him otherwise guess who will eat it...
He just left to go in search of stain..we repaired his dining room chair struts and they match fairly well, but Mel got a stool for her kitchen and he's trying to match the color...
Did not finish my tiling..should have, but wasn't up to it...feel like going to bed about now but Greg has other plans..some repair projects...lol
Still raining .. omg...what needs hip waiter boots to get around..we're going to be in trouble unless it freezes...
Greg went to Meaford by snowmobile yesterday, 100 kls. and said the trails were fairly well packed, sad, all the grooming and work on trails, all to be lost for the Christmas season when all are looking to enjoy...
Doesn't look promising for the next week or so either...
Do hope you all enjoyed your day...won't it be nice to get back into a schedule..
Betty it is so hard to deal with people who can't, or won't, listen to reason. I guess you just take each day as it comes, do what you know is right...... and rest easy knowing you have done the best you can. In the end they are just causing themselves misery and all you can do is leave them to it. It is a sad situation but Don't let them drag you down with them.
Looks like you still have plenty of projects to keep you busy. I have done little but sleep most of the day. Have come down with sniffles, sneezes, headache and a bit of a sore throat. Have chicken soup on for dinner.
I am about ready to start on assembly of red satin fairy......along the lines of the Mrs. Santa....will see how she turns out if I have any energy after dinner. Or may just go back to bed.....but I really do want to get her finished!
The main streets are clear for the most part, but the side streets that did not get the plow (such as Our street) are still quite miserable. It doesn't help that it is now raining and my drivers side car window is stuck in the down position. If the street ever clears I will have to get out and see what a new circuit board is going to run me. Can't drive around in the rain with no window.....probably where I got this cold to begin with. At least my son has been picking my husband up for work so we don't have to take the car out. The lows are supposed to be in the mid to upper 30's and and the highs in mid to upper 40's the next few days. Of course the day we are suppose to have our club bike ride pot luck they are saying we might get more snow. I will be so happy to have the holidays and this weather etc. all behind us......and get back to normal, important business.....like what project will Betty think of for us next!?!?!?
((((((HUGS and Prayers )))))))))) to you, and all.
Trisha
Oh Trisha, you are most likely exhausted and so it's quite easy to catch a cold..keep on top of it 'sweetie' or you will be in bed for New Years ... I do love Christmas but as you say, it will be nice to have it all behind us..looking forward to your next piece..yep..was thinking of what we could do..are you interested in a 'floormat'
It is so mild out right now I could sit and have coffee on back deck, need hip boots for sure to venture out..calling for more rain so ar basement is dry, 'touch wood' my pumps are running non-stop ...Carol, are you dry as well, do hope so...
Jesse, you've not posted since you said you were unwell, sending prayers and thinking of you..am hoping 'no post' means you are safely in a hospital being looked after and 'not' in the black hole that seems to take over from time to time...maybe today you will be able to post...
Our wonder 'Laura' you also are in my thoughts...
Vicki, are you getting some much deserved rest..kaos has been your work schedule for so long..guess that soon they will have Valentines Day supplies to be put on shelves...
Liz, did you find material to do your project or are you still fighting with the cut out pieces...go for it, head to Joannes and pick up some fabric..
Greg and I worked for awhile, got all the staining done, said he'd be back to day to give urathane/varathane coat to the pieces but I think unless he comes late in the evening they'll still be damp..might go put on the heater, that should help...
I had painted a golf piece 'antique clubs & balls' my goodness over a year ago and there it sat, frame unfinished..Greg always says he'll steal it when it's done so thought I'd finish it and give it to him on his birthday New Years Day along with a sweater or something equally as exciting, never know what to get these kids...then he can gloat to Jeff that he got more for his birthday and that will equal up the extra gifts I gave Jeff Christmas Eve..they have so much fun kabitzing around...
Finished my coffee and now trying to regain energy to finish tiling..Greg last night said Doug was asking about his scoot tarp and how they were progressing, needs them before the weekend so maybe I'll run into Fabricland this aft. and purchase the thread needed and get a start on it...hate to have a day to just laze around...
morning all,
betty, so sorry you had to go through this, hope it can be resolved, i know you wouldnt hurt a soul! hope you can get some crafting done today...
what finds did you find at h.d we went two two but nothing i needed to have lol now thats a first for me!
im just so tired we have a girl a 40 week and she voiced to me back in sept she wanted xmas week off, but knew my boss with another new grandbaby wouldnt let her, now she asked me to work three saturdays in dec for her because she had some church functions..
i am willing to accomodate! well the week before xmas here she complains her back ect comes to work with a note off for three weeks cant lift anything, cant sit more than 10 min cant stand more than 10...
so the three of us have to pull her 40 plus our own, heres the twist my bosses dil saw her at the grocery store she said hi and had a conversation with her, she had asked her oh your off today? our co worker said oh yes..
immediatly called us to tell us she was by herself, walking very normal, and the best part had a couple cases of water in her basket....
were all beside ourselfs feeling as though she got her cake and ate it to she called our boss to say the doctor wont release her for another three weeks and that he was talking about putting her on disability..
only problem i have is that she had told me about she wanted to go part time to stay home with her 13 year old son, she had also told me that she had prior back and hip issues, but refuses to go see a doctor, she also said she was looking for a job like daycare or nanny type. i dont have the heart to tell my boss that will devestate her!
so we feel like we got burned pretty good!
so now its a waiting game, hope it ends soon!
trisha, ment to tell you omg santa's are just beautiful!
hope your feeling better soon..
hello to everyone hope you enjoy your day think we might go to the flea market im just waiting for the green light so i can clean up my cart lol
betty lol crossed with you, no im fighting with the vevet, but i think i figured out how to attach the peices have to get thread and give it a try, sained peices came out great that water basin peice i have one just like it...
ok girls judy wants me to foward something to you all from my personal email but im not that computer savy lol.
so could some one walk me through the steps thanks :0
Left click your mouse on the email from the top left corner to the bottom right corner-it should all highlight...then left click your mouse and you should have the option to copy it, select that, then come here to a new post and left click your mouse again and select paste....
Carol, my heart goes out to you..finished the tiling and thought I'd have a coffee while at the computer, guess what, rug underneath completely sopping wet..I've mopped it up, have the vaccum ready, going in search of my shovel and try to make a trench..hardly a touch of snow on the ground and we have 3' to 4'...almost tempted to take those totes outside with me and take down lights as it's mild out, save me a step later on in the cold...yuk..can't win for losing...
Carol think mine is because I put eaves on and downspouts and of course no lead off for the drains so all the water stays by the house...a project for spring for sure... don't know much about drains?? perhaps you should call a local contractor and just get some ideas from him...
In my rec. room usually against the back wall I get some so I'm on the lookout as well...our telephone lines our out..Rogers cable and internet working fine...extremely high winds, was going to town but don't know if I could keep my car on the road...
On the back deck some of the plastic I had put up so I wouldn't have to shovel is blowing off..Greg said he'd come and we'd see what needs to be done...
Shaking my head...drats and more drats...
Hope Carol you can keep up, you'll be a tired soul by the time all is dried up..you must worry about mould also with all the dampness... now's the time you would appreciate family dropping by...
Couldn't beleive it! When I left at noon to meet Stacey and her Mom (on their way to her DGP) my roof was covered with about 6" of now and ice; when I returned late in the afternoon it was all gone! We have had 63 degrees yesterday and today very high winds and colder weather. This winter is so queer, weather-wise I wonder what the spring and summer will bring?
Sniffy, sneezy scratchy throat……but a bit better today. More rain coming in. I can finally see a few patches of pavement on our street…..a Good Thing! Son-in-law’s work is having they’re delayed Christmas Party tonight….that means I have Sage for the night and I had promised to be designated driver for them so they could enjoy the party and not worry about getting home. Bill says with no window in the car the cold should sober them up nicely by the time they get home…lol!
My mum did a floor mat several years ago…..I have always wanted one…or two….or three…! I can’t use rugs here for the most part……my husband took after his father and does not really “pick up his feet” when he walks. If I try to have rugs of any type they end up with rolled edges, or otherwise bunched up from his “ shuffle”……of course he swears he ”does not”.
Our weather is in the 40’s today. Mum has been having problems with her heat pump so has been running the auxiliary heat, which gets expensive. Maintenance thought it was frozen….but we have been above freezing for several days, done all the “thawing” procedures they have recommended and still now luck. Am sending Bill over to take a look as soon as he returns from the store. Otherwise they will have to get the repair service in tomorrow.
I really need to find out from the Club President if we are going to try and have the New Year’s Day ride this week or postpone……with all the snow piled along the roadways I really don’t think it will melt enough to be safe by Thursday. But I need to know soon if I am going to be expected to feed a bunch of hungry cyclists……..not to mention getting the last of the Santa Factory moved to the back room!
I saw Jesse post once or twice on a couple of other threads after she had mentioned her problem here, but did not see anything yesterday….hope all is well with her.
LOL……even if you wanted to, would you know how take a day and just laze about???
Morning Liz and Stacey…have a good day.
Carol and Betty, I am so sorry for your “water issues” . We had some problems with our basement when I was in highschool….it took a lot of work and a lot of $$$$ before dad finally got the problem cured.
Tornadoes are worse, too many can happen at the same time and they can't predict how many and where they will come down at, and they are far more destructive. Even the smallest of tornadoes can, and more than likely will, tear the roof off of your house. A moderate earthquake will knock stuff off of shelves and might make you motion sick for a few minutes, big deal.
I asked for a bunch of stuff, it was hard for him to get out and buy anything with the walking pneumonia. If he had gone to the dr a week earlier he would have caused himself much less pain. I knew what I was getting, just didn't know what color or size. After his dr appt he went to WalMart to get his prescriptions filled and called me and asked me what type of sewing bag exactly I was looking for. It ended up being perfect because my dad's girlfriend gave me a bunch of embroidery patterns. The only embroidery I have done is "embroidery by number" lol!
The power was out most of the day here, then when it came on it was storming like a mad dog. I went next door, we decided it would be more fun to be bored together than apart, especially since Dave went to work yesterday to work 11am to 9pm. I needed to be babysat anyway. Me and Diana ended up picking on her poor husband for about an hour until he fell asleep, and eating leftover Christmas candy, had a great time.
Betty, I have disowned my mom's side of the family because of crap like that. I just:
1. Don't have time for it
2. Am too happy with life to deal with it
3. Really don't care what they think
It's hard to not let that get you down, but everyone close to you knows you better than that. Just like the others have said, misery loves company and you're not miserable and they know it, so they're trying to make you their way. I run from people like that. Just state your case to the person they are talking about and go on, if Lorraine, or anyone else they are talking about, knows your joking, does it really matter what they say? They're probably jealous because you're strong and have been able to live your life after tragedy, not everyone is able to do that.
I have got to get in the shower! It's 12:30! Yikes!
Carol,
Before my next-door neighbors could sell their house this past Spring, they had to pay someone $$$$ to have a drain installed all along the inside walls in the basement. Luckily, their basement was not 'finished".
They come with a small jackhammer and dig a trench about 6" wide all along the walls (not sure how deep) and install a drain to direct all the ground water to the sump pump.
If you have water problems--that is a very wise investment. Especially if you would ever sell the house.
Directing the water that comes from downspouts away from the foundation is not all that hard.
You can buy one of those "Splash Pans" (concrete or plastic)--or get a length of the corrugated drain pipe (black and accordion pleated--4" diameter) and attach it to the bottom of the downspout and direct the water anywhere you want to.
Both are available at HD or Lowes....
Just some ideas. Hope it helps....Gita
Thanks Gita, will go in search of something I can use, only problem is with the plowing and my snowblowing it either has to be underground or somewhere it will not create a problem..
Been washing old towels most of the aft. mine isn't as bad as Carol's from the look of it...but know how much work is involved in keeping up to it..
I did go to town, omg so much damage..in my yard alone a tree is down and took the metal fencing down with it..the trees are swaying from side to side, actually scarry...my poor little car, wind would gust and I could almost feel airborn...
Janice, with the melting and rain are you also getting these high winds...when I went into the mall for Fabricland a lady was telling me that she was at the bank, opened the door to use the ATM machine and the wind was so strong it took the door off it's casing...as I drove I also saw trees down, hydro and telephone poles..still no telephone..thanks goodness for Rogers Cable..it's very/very snowy but I can still entertain myself with a good movie...Janice both you and Stacey will have to come visit and spend the weekend in late spring..I'm so looking forward to that...
Ruby, are you ok 'sweetie' haven't seen you post for several days..not ill are you?
Liz, bet Judy is really enjoying herself..nice for family to get together...
I purchased 6 lengths of 8' wood so that when Greg comes later tonight or tomorrow we can repairs the back deck plastic closure...got the necessary needles and thread to start Doug's scoot top which he'll need as he was hoping to start using the snowmobile to go home, not likely, he'll be using the scoot for some time in order to be safe...want to start that first thing in the a.m. - too tired to do so tonight..while I was at fabricland they had material on sale that I would make a throw blanket for evenings that I want to cuddle up on the couch with kitties so purchased 5 meters, most likely only about 1/2 of what I need...thought I'd throw it in the washer for shrinking purposes, iron it and cut out my squares..that way I'd know how much more I need..not an urgent thing for me to do, just thought it would be nice and colors suited the living room so home it came..
Crissy, I'm over it now, and you are right, what is said in passing is often overly exaggerated..it just annoys me to no end that after dealing with much the same over the years I've secluded myself away from a lot of them and I am very happy just doing my own thing, what angers me is it STILL finds it's way into my home...don't want it-don't like it...this is a hard enough week for me let alone be dealing with such issues...bet you told that DH of yours to make a Dr's appt or it would get worse and he just didn't listen right? Has the storm passed you on by...
I was going to purchase more grout while at Home Depot but decided that even though it's a deeper color I have a box 1/2 full that will be more than enough so save my money for material right? lol
Trisha, hope your are feeling better tomorrow, don't you find just like little kiddies, evening always seems the worse...you have to get that window fixed..any scrap yards around your area? Might be a lot cheaper and something Bill could fix...yes? no?
Wouldn't it be dangerous travelling on a motor cycle with weather being as it is??? As for the floormat...wonderful idea as I don't use canvas which you'd be kicking all around the floor, I use back side of linoleum and they can be made to match decor and to any size...let me know when you are ready and I'll post steps for you here...
Have turnips on the stove, potatoes pealed..still a lemon merangue pie and took some of the turkey roast I had left over from my Christmas dinner and I plan on having a feast...my goodness, if I keep this up I'll truly turn into a susie homemaker won't I?
Been a long day for some reason..
My thoughts keep going to you Carol, how are you making out..just listened to the news..winds over 100kl in this area, tractor trailer overturned, highways were closed, mega damage in our area, no hydro for parts of Barrie, Midland, Penetanguishene, had to evacuate seniors home not more than 10 minutes away, riverbanks overflowing..OMG..so much destruction...
My telephone just started to work although very crackly..Greg just called to say he was on his way to Wasaga Beach to pick up Melanie and the boys..so hope he drives safely...something to worry about..
Hope all of you are safe ... Mother Nature sure is showing her wrath these past few weeks...
I'm with some of you, wonder what the spring will bring...
HI Betty,
Oh that sounds awful..we had high winds here today but no damage that I know of except a lot of small branches all over the lawn.
I just gave up on the basement..and let the water find its way to the sump pump eventually..
I had only three spewing water spouts today..eight yesterday....but things have frozen up outside now I think..
Gita thanks for the info about the inside French drain. I do have the extended black corrugated pipe extentions on the outside downspouts. I really do have to do something about this..as I am getting older and won't be able to manage the clean up for many more years..and also..the fact that this house could not be sold with a leaking basement,.. as you say.
Am back in the Mum Taxi Mode.............gont Sean and Laura's car home....without exhaust it sounds like a jet engine.....it runs fine, is just noisy and smelly....
Had to run to JoAnn's for Fabritac......ended up all over town looking for the shoes Laura wanted to get........Have to pick them up at six thirty for their party, ten or so to bring them home.....
The new years day thing Betty.....bicycles, not motorcycle.......even worse.
Lino is what mum used for her floor cloth also....works great!
Liz---
Maybe all you have to do is have Judy's daughter to send it to you......
She seems to be her "alternative" in communications.......
Greg just left, got me going again with back deck screening..starting to snow or is it hail???
My sump pump is working overtime..Darlene called tonight and said that the auxillary battery operated sump might not keep up IF hydro goes out and I'm to call them if it does regardless of the time and they will bring me a generator..great friends...
Greg says they wind is dying down so hopefully I'll have hydro all night..
Carol, that's the problem with growing old on our own, some things just get to overwhelming..I can do a lot of things, or rather I will try anything but some I just have to admit I don't have the strength to do..
When I saw it snowing as the kids left, Kyle told me not to worry about snowblower, he'll make a point of coming after school and doing it for me..so cute! Am lucky to have Greg and Kyle living so close..Greg's probably thinking, where is her other son..lol..hope not..he knows the only time I can is when I can't or shouldn't do something..
Trisha, ah, that you were into motorcycles..best not be riding bikes in this weather...
Girlfriend Liz just called from Ireland, was telling me all about her New Year's Eve plans..going to a Silver Wedding Anniversary - 25 guests, tux and gowns..went out on a shopping spree .. how wonderful for her..love her to bits... she calls me about 3 times a week just making sure I'm ok..the first New Years Day after Roger passed she flew over and we went to Florida together..helped me make it through that anniversary of his death day...
I can tell as the week and holidays are progressing I'm more and more talking about 'death' you'll just have to speak up and say 'can it Betty'...lol
Can't breath down here, Greg varathaned all the wood pieces and omg the fumes are something else...just came down to get my material out of the dryer so that when I do decide to start my couch throw I'll be ready...I promised myself that until the scoot top is made, tiles grouted I'm not to take on the quilt blocks...so watch me go...
Calling it a night dear friends...
Good Lord willing we'll talk in the morning..
Best..finishing my tiling
Worse...flooding
What did I learn..going to have to get new fencing...
Betty, better to talk about it than to keep things bottled inside.....and that is what friends are for.....we are here for you during the sad times as well as the fun.
Will pray the the flooding doesn't get too bad, for you all, and those in our area as well.
Have a good nights sleep, will talk to you tomorrow.
Morning, just a light cover of snow on the ground but cold so that will take care of flooding at least in my house... (hoping Carol's as well)
My thoughts are to once daylight comes put away outdoor Christmas decorations...I'd only put them on a few times and if left out till spring they'd be weather beaten...
I've the tarp on the table taking measurements so that will be my 'to do' project..a promise is a promise...did say I'd do it in the summer but guess time got away from him...lol
Might call and make an appt. to have a perm..Noah did help me about a month ago with one but then I had it all cut off..not sure my hair is long enough for one but I'll book it and see...
Don't you early risers often want to get a zillion things done but have to sit tight and wait for everyone else to get up...we should find an in between...we sleep in an extra hour and they get up an extra hour...I'm so enjoying our Walmart open this month 24/7..in January I believe it will be open from 6:00am to 11:00 pm...still a good time to shop at 6:00am...
Have any of you been out looking for bargains after Christmas...we were all saying that all the stores chopped prices to bare minimum before Christmas and not really any bargains...but then I really don't need anything so doesn't matter...
I will though try and estimate how many blocks my material will give me and see if I have to rush out for more..
Well, had my coffee, go get cereal and start my 'holiday' day...
