Laura I'm so glad you are here today! I keep forgetting that I need to buy a house there in Malvern so I never have to deal with winter, and I could live in Malvern, AR, US and Malvern, Victoria, Australia LOL!

New Years is all but behind us now...

Janice, feeling like you, put away all of my Christmas decorations upstairs away and most downstairs as well..looks so drab, no color..

Laura, waving, heard you had some earthly angels who got you your subscription....nothing like feeling loved is there...nice to see you smilling, started the 2009 out right..only good things happening for you this year..what temps do you have??? Sure wish it were at least spring here...now we'll all be frothing at the mouth waiting for our gardens...

Laura we were all talking about having scrapbooking materials and not getting at it..so we are going to edge each other on and do some pages...any suggestions????

Stacey you got some great bargain..have never heard of Craft 2000 and each time I visit the USA I go looking for Hobby Lobby but guess they are few and far between...I especially love the pail you have there...how organized you are getting..nice to know what you have although as I said earlier, each and every time I start a project I never seem to have all the materials...just love the ribbon idea..

Gita, that's fabulous, I've cupboards in the laundry room that I could do your method...most of my ribbon though is Christmas and only used then...what sales they have on ribbon right now at Michaels...

Sounds as though you enjoyed yourself last night Janice..Jeff called early this morning, said he tried for 1/2 hr to call me but the systems were busy..first time as long as I can remember that I didn't get my 12:00 a.m. call..he said he did try then fell asleep..said he also enjoyed a quiet evening alone, played guitar all evening just to relax..he's had a busy few months as work, me it's crafts/painting to unwind, Jeff it's his instruments...

Bullwinkle and the lads helped me sew for a few hours on my rag quilt..haven't taken them out as I did with Cedric and Bailey..party pooper that I am...have them for a few more days so we'll see what we can do tomorrow...

Greg came for lunch .. was nice just him and I..although it's his birthday he finds it difficult as well..our thoughts were on his dad...

Worked on blocks for a few hours..think I've 40 done and I need about 90..squares are all cut, just have to sew an 'X' through each block..

Critters are giving sewing instructions...lol

Melanie had Larry and Janice over for a meal along with myself in celebration of Greg's 40th..when Greg was visiting he said he was amazed at how few of the family called with 'well wishes'...he'll be surprised Saturday I'm sure...

Crissy, I'm starting to think like you, should move away for at least the winter...maybe one day we'll get to visit our Laura...

You are already back into a routine, me, mine will start Monday..looking forward to it..too much work/activity/Christmas gatherings etc.- tired out...
yes Gita, you heard me right..lol..I'm tired...

What kind of patterns did you get for embroidering Crissy?

Going to call it a night all

Had to come back..

Judy just called, asked me to post a Happy New Year to each and everyone of you..said their vacation is nearly over, will be heading home Saturday..cold by the ocean yesterday and today...

She's such a dear..knew I was having a bad day and thought she'd chear me up, which she did...

A wave from Judy and family....waving...

Once last thing, almost forgot..Doug phoned at Greg's earlier to say that he had to make a trip home on the island..with all the strong winds apparently there is a lot of damage to the roof of his house....said hydro just came on after about 9 days of being off...imagine...

I would live in towns with the same name in 2 different countries.

Lets see, I got 6 transfer packets and one Butterflies in Flight pillowcase

The transfers are
packet 1: Sunflowers & Butterflies
packet 2: Butterflies for Linens
packet 3: Road Rage which has a '67 Firebird, '61 Starfire, '57 Chevy, '69 GTO, '60 Corvette, '67 Mustang, '63 Riviera, and a '69 Charger
packet 4: Kitten Chores
packet 5: Pretty Rose Motifs
packet 6: Three Pillowslip Motifs

And a bunch of flosses to go with all of this.

I'm not really into all of the cutesy stuff, I'd like to put borders and but what the hey, if I don't like them I can give them away, right?

Glad to see it looks we have all made it into the new year ! It is always so stressful for me trying to get everything ready for a house full of people....I am not a wonderful house keeper, as much as I would like to be...mum is, but it was not one of the traits I inherited, unfortunately. I love the planning and the cooking, Once everyone starts to arrive I always enjoy myself and everyone always seems to have a good time....this is our forth or fifth year hosting the group so it has become something of a tradition....but I am so tired and so glad it is finally over with. Sage was such a help both this year and last......my dog loves to be out with all the people but can get a bit nippy if crowed in with large numbers of people....I don't trust her in large groups. Sage takes Porter back to her room and they have their meal there....with plenty of desserts....and watch Sages new movies until most of the crowd have gone.....so at least I don't have to stress over the dog....and Sage takes the job very seriously.

Gita and Stacey, great ribbon storage ideas!

Laura, glad you got your new subscription and will be staying in touch with all of us here.....we are such worriers when one of the group is "out of Pocket". It is good to start out a new year with something Good.
Crissy, I would say you are very lucky after what we have been having for weather this month....the snow is almost gone, now we have rain and wind storms due to show up soon.

Betty sounds like you are staying busy as always. I took down most of my Christmas before today's party. Left the Pointsettia Garland on the mantle, the flower arrangements, my Original Santa, the Fairy and the Little Lady in Green. And of course my lovely candles from Stacey and Cindy.

Just need to get the rest of the food put away, a quick wash up then I am going to build up the fire, sit down with a nice cup of cider, and I may not move again before bed time.

Have a wonderful evening ladies....talk to you later.

We had sleet and freezing rain 2 weeks in a row, with high winds and all. This is the first decent weather we've had since Thanksgiving. I moved to the South because after growing up in CA I couldn't handle Northern winters lol!

I know what you mean, we lived in Taiwan for a year....great the tropics should be wonderful! I did love it there, but not the rains and typhoons!!

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

well i lovem y scrapbooking and i have it filled with happy thought s and wonderful memories.

how about a page that will make us smile every time we look at it?
that leaves it open to interpretation.

'Find your smile and make your happy page'

it could be your garden, your family, or u betty your roger.. anything... and we can all share it?

just a thought...

Victoria Harbour, ON

OK challenge is on, a "SMILE" page....what shall we say out deadline for page #1 is..a cover page for my first album...hmmmm....

Crissy sounds as though you are already planning pressies for next Christmas..guess we could do an album as well, one page per month and give it as a gift..so easy now to copy photo's that way we wouldn't have to give away our originals...

Trisha, for what purpose were you living in Taiwan? tell us about your life there... would certainly be interesting..how long have you been back?

Crissy, while working on my quilt yesterday you were in my thoughts for the duration of an entire movie..think it was called 'tornado'..a man had a machine that could predict exactly where a tornado would land but no one would listen to him, all were arranging a community gathering...watch how it came over them, the sounds, how people were frightened..omg...no wonder you are set up in your safety zone shelter below ground..don't blame you..

Car is running, off to Walmart..need more totes to finish my putting Christmas decorations away..nice/neat/clean...by noon Christmas will be no more at my place..

Got a few beautiful frames at Christmas so thought I'd go on the lookout for photo's for them then work on my quilt..that will look after today...lol

Light snow and sooooo cold here this morning..

Bye for now

Gita-eventually I want a dowel hanging from the ceiling and all my ribbon on that, but I am too short to reach and waiting for DH to do it will be a while, so I needed a cheap solution I could do myself now:) The dowel from the ceiling is similar to what you have:)

Betty-did you see the Mystery 7 swap-it sounds right up your ally:)
