Todays Weather in Your Garden - 35

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

37 and cloudy. Luckily, we did not get the freezing rain that was predicted. Supposed to hit 48 today and 62 tomorrow! Lots of melting. Great.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

:-) Not to rub it in or anything .... but, it is currently 60ºF here, the deluge of rain has stopped and the sun is peeking out ..... If I didn't know better, I'd be off to the beach!

Tomorrow more of the same ..... Did I wake up in Florida??!!??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

More NYers in FL!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

At this time of year, for sure! .... or AZ

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Heck yeah.......come on down.....you can't have too many NYers down here! Our friends from Canandaigua will be coming down mid-Feb through March for some fun playtime with us. Y'all come on down!!! Willie - glad you're at least getting some Fla weather up there!!!

We have the a/c on here..........gulp.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Cool here, in the 40's today, and rained all morning into early afternoon, then finally stopped. Didn't go to the mansions this trip. Everyone else went, but I decided to save my money and stay home. I think I would like to go there in the spring when spring flowers are blooming.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

39 now... and cloudy... going up to 61 and raining

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

It is 65ºF!!! AND!!! we just had an 80 MPH gust hit the house 5 minutes ago. The weather alert is issues from 9am to 6 pm and it isn't even 9 yet! This is just the start!

I bet this will be heading east .....

Normally, I enjoy weather events, but several years ago, the winds blew my roof clean off and it slammed into the neighbor's house. The winds scare the sheets out of me.

Check out this radar shot of the current scene.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

It's already windy here, Willie, though Yahoo weather says it's only 15-25 mph coming from the SW, but it seems windier than that. Maybe gusts at 35? I don't know. It's 61 out there now, and we're expecting a high of 63. It's cloudy now and going to remain that way.

JoAnn, what kind of seeds can you winter sow? Today would be a good day for me to do that, too.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Pixie! The winds are predicted to last clear through to 6 PM, with "the strongest winds late morning to late afternoon." stronger than 80 MPH?? yikes!

This front literally sprung up in all of 5 minutes. When I let the pups out, it was calm, 66ºF and not a lick of wind or rain. I started to make the coffee and bam! The winds picked up, hail pelted the GH and I swore it was the makings of a tornado. That was when the 80 MPH gust hit and you could feel the temp plummet to 45ºF .... just as I was corralling the dogs back into relative safety. It all happened so quickly.

The nastiness of that first front has already disorganized. talk about freakish weather!

sounds bad Willie.. be careful

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

It's so very warm today, and I don't care that everything is all wet and gray outside. We are saving the wood from the woodpile. When the outside temps are warm enough, we don't have to burn it to keep warm.

Currently:
Cloudy
45°
Wind: S at 6 MPH
Humidity: 90%
Dewpoint: 46°
Pressure: 29.85 in. and falling

Sunset: 4:19 pm

Just one last ice storm photo to keep the memory fresh in my mind ...

Went for a walk and noticed the black sky.
Temp dropped 20* just as Willi said.
The wind is fierce now. This wasn't on yahoo weather this morning.
Glad I got what gardening done that I did. Moved containers to where they will stay for the summer.
Discovered I need another 18" one. LaTiDa

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Overcast and damp but not raining anymore. Hoping for a peek of sun eventually. Temp is on he mid 50s and climbing to 60 if the sun comes out. Gusty winds around 20mph. Glad you all up north are getting some of this heat wave too. Very cold for new years again. Enjoy the warm when you get it I guess. :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful shot, Candyce. Wow - that's really dangerous, Willie. Good luck and stay safe!

56 and cloudy. Heading for 62. More daylight each day!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

What a day.
Still fierce winds but sunny.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

That is an awesome shot, Candyce!!! A perfectly icy window on winter!!

So far, so good in this neck of the woods. There are about 20,000 without power, but obviously not out on this street. There are poles and trees down, but not too bad, all in all. The Cable TV went out for a bit, but not the internet

As with near JoAnn, it is sunny at times, but the winds are most brisk.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Counting on the Bills to help out my floundering Jets!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I don't believe you need to hold your breath, Victor!

(Oh wait ......)

Go Bills!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Say what?
I am a little annoyed all this warm is being wasted with very dark cloudy skies at the moment. No sign of the sun here, only climbed to 57 degrees and still quite breezy.
Go PATS!

56* Doors open! Oh that Smell. Fireplace going and furnace turned OFF.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Currently 65 and cloudy. Some wind, but not much. I got out and pulled out some vinca vine. Maybe I can get a handle on it this year. LOL
I also put potting soil in the containers I'm going to use for my winter-sowing experiment. Have never done it before and I have an awful time growing things from seed, so we shall see.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I l-u-u-u-v-v-e coneflowers....and the Pats! My grandson's name is Brady Patrick--LOL (I had nothing to do with it-kids' idea)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

One out of two ain't bad...

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Ha-Haaaaa! Pats--13---->zip! Plant that Victor!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sure - kick a guy when he's down!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Sorry, Victor .... they just WON'T listen to me and pull their act together ....

What I say to the Bills:

Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

South Hamilton, MA
