I saw a book at Joann's on polymer clay, never even picked it up. Need to go back see what it's like have a 50% off coupon.

I keep forgetting to tell you about Rick's new job. Poor baby is going to be a whipped pup come Saturday. He will be working 10 hour days plus Saturdays too, but he has to commute 1 1/2 hour each way. I'm not too sure I like this, as that is how my husband died, he was commuting 360 miles round trip Mon - Fri just got so tired he fell asleep at the wheel.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Bj I would go ahead and put it out. Since it is in a pot be sure to bring it in if you get freezing temps.

Slanted dragon tower, could work. lol Make that into a fantasy novel with what - magic, dragons, fairies, pixies. I like it already. Must make note for next book!

Cindy we've had snow a couple of times so far this month and last. Last night it was ice. Not very heavy for either one, but still can be dangerous. And I hate the cold, seeps into my back where I have 4 screws and gives me one heck of a backache.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I feel for you Cindy and will pray for Rick. I commute over an hour each way when I work during the summer. I leave at 8;30 in the morning and get home at midnight 6 days a week. Plus I have to drive through all the tourist areas. Sometimes they forget they don't own the road.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

OUCH!!! Do you have a down vest or something to keep your back warm. I hate it when my back gets cold, so I where a vest when I'm out in the cold. Did you break your back? But yet you are on your feet all day with your job.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

I need some suggestions .... my Sisters On The Fly group have Christmas exchanges and I'm trying to decide what to make for my exchange sister. We ususally do something for or related to the vintage campers and their particular 'style'. She does have one but is not one style in particular - general cowgirl theme. I have some cute fabric with cowgirls on it in blues, reds and yellows. I have some dark blue denim fabric and bright yellow denim-like fabric. What can I make with it? The solid colors are about 2x the weight of the print.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Debra... how much fabric do you have? You can make her a rag quilt or tote bag... using the denim for the backing, and the print for the front... if you make a rag quilt, you won't need the batting or flannel in the middle... just the two layers would be plenty...
If you make a Rag Tote... you should put the batting in the center to make it more stable...
Just a suggestion...

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

What about a rag rug or a braided one.

Injured my back in 93, herniated a disc, it exploded and pieces went all over including the nerves. Work comp fixed the initial injury but still had problems. said it was female trouble. Needless to say after getting all parts yanked out to prove it was not female related 2 years later they fused my back. Screws and pain are better than being paralyzed. All this because I was vacuuming. Don't do it ladies have a man do it. They are built for that pushing not us. That is what my 'male' orthropod said. I haven't vacuumed since.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Or you could do a denim apron, or even a vest with fly fishing gear hanging from it :D

Hi Robin. Funny.. I see a leaning tower with a pizza box on top, and a half eaten pepperoni pizza in it, with a dragon's tail hanging out!!

Cindy, hate the thought that Rick had to commute that long. I'll pray for his safety...and yes, I do love lizards too!

Maid M... hold your head up high! You do wonderful craft work too.. worth the wait!

Yep, whoever penned BJ's Critters hit that right!
I agree.. lessons BJ! (might finally get that pasta maker)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'll definitely delegate the vacuuming to Kel, Robin.
I feel your pain, sistah.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ouch, robyn, that sounds like it hurt a lot. I injured my back, sitting at a commercial sewing machine, sewing velcro onto the back of patches for the pilots uniforms. Went to turn to grab another piece of velcro, and snap. I felt the pain go all the way down to my toes! Workers Comp told me for 2 years it was not this or that. I finally had my Mail handlers insurance pay for the surgery, and by then, I had so much permanent damage, there was only so much surger could do! I'm like you and Cindy, cold weather makes it hurt, as well as my right knee with a total replacement last year. Not fun! And now my feet! Sheesh, getting old sucks!!!
Robyn, can't wait to see what your going to make her. Sounds pretty.

You ladies have a wonderful evening, I'm out the door for the evening. DH has his dinner ready, I'm heading to Wally world, then grab a quick Taco then to the bowling alley. My adopted son will be there, he just got back from Iraq and has another week before he heads back over, so am going to enjoy the evening with him.

I'm thinking... I'm thinking... I'm thinking...

sheesh.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, I'll even mail you all the bulbs you need!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ya know what? My doctor told me the same thing about 30 years ago when I strained my back sweeping and mopping... there's something about that back and forth motion that female bodies don't tolerate well... but, you catch Don doing any of that and be sure to take a pic, ok? Otherwise, I won't believe it.

My son injured 4 discs and 3 vertebrae when he was on a ship in the Navy. Fell down a flight of those metal stairs they have. The Navy tried to claim he had inherited some spinal problems from his ancestors... so, we all signed affidavits and sent to his Captain... They claimed he would be in a wheel chair within 5 years... 15 years later, he's still walking. A while back the pain was so bad that he went to the VA... they said he needed surgery, and only gave him a 50% chance of walking after. So, he elected to NOT have the surgery... he deals with the pain every day of his life. Pain pills do help, but it's mostly mind over matter (that's what he calls it)... and he limits what he does, and how long he does it for.
BTW... he does draw a VA disability pension check each month... it's only like $50, I think... but as long as he is on their rolls, he can get it raised should he get to where he can't work anymore.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Thank you,
I do too every morning when he leaves and then when he gets home I thank God he made it home safe. The pay is awesome though double what he was making at other job. when he gets his income tax return he is going to fix up his Tahoe. It will be a better ride

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I have PLENTY old glass ornaments... but thanks, Jaye...
I have about 24 more this small size... then I have about 4 doz a step bigger than that... I won't run out for a while.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Robyn, your subliminal message was too funny! not so subliminal, but funny. LOL!

Cindy, hate that Rick has to drive so far. Sounds like a good job. Is there any possibility of moving closer after he has worked there a while?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I was thinking tote bag lined in the lighter fabric, or a table cloth out of the heavier blue and yellow with napkins out of the print. Like the rug idea, too, but don't know how to braid one. Need to get started soon - as in this morning (it's now 4:10pm).

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I don't know much about this job yet. It is a small family owned business. Mom is in the office, Dad bids on the jobs, the son(s) are the formen I guess. I don't even know where the office is lol. He got this job by a guy overhearing that he was getting laid off and he asked Rick if he thought he would be interested, that they needed more "good" help.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

FIVE TIPS FOR A WOMAN...
1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.
2. It is important tha a man makes you laugh.
3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to you.
4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.
5. It is important that these four men don't know each other.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

WOW-love the litte buggies BJ-and even though I know the chubby little fairy isn't me, she is still cute...

About babies being born-when LK sees them on TV she cries-when I see them I hyperventilate!! Frekas me out!!

I think we all need a roomba and a scooba so we aren't doing the floors-what dya say ladies-co-op for them??LOL

Well, I just had about one of the worst days at work EVER...you8 all know how my day started....well, it got worse. I took a break and when I came back from break my mgr was on my puter....so I had to get on hers to work-she had her email up and as I was going to close it out, I saw a couple that caught my eye-so I looked and they were about me. One to her boss and one to our corp HR about how I do nothing all day and am a drain on her branches income, that I lie about doing my job, and several other lies and manipulated 1/2 truths....so I sat there all day doing my job all the while wanting to scrath her eyes out and cry...then I found out that her goal is to start cutting my hrs until I quit...for the 2 weeks from 12/22-1/3 they are 24 one week and 22 the other, but for those 2 weeks so are the other girls....

So after work I called MIL and my mom after I called DH-I think after the 1st I am putting in my notice and DA*& out bills...I don't really mean the part about the bills, but she has done sucked me dry...

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Stacey, why was she on yours? To check on the history? So what does she do all day? Is this the one who just had a baby? I would request a meeting with her and BIG boss, keep notes of what she does and doesn't do all day. I wouldn't leave there without letting them know a thing or two.

I had a boss get in my face one day because I had given a maid 19 rooms to clean, she also had a trainee with her. When in fact two weeks before that she had given the same gal 19 rooms to clean ALL by herself and bragged about it didn't take her that long. I threw that in her face told her what a b$%^& and liar she was. Told the manager better watch your back you'll be out of a job (we went to school together). Low and behold they BOTH got fired for embezzlement LOL. And get this her last name was Batt. and boy was she ....

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Dang, Stacey... that's just awful to find those emails.
But, you know what I'd do? I think I'd type up my resignation, and cc that boss of hers and the HR dept... give your boss the original, and mail the other two. You should spell out everything in the resignation, every reason your discontented, and even all the extra work you have to do because your boss is so selfish. Tell them that you're emotionally drained, and when you had tried to ask them for help, and they did nothing, and you feel the work place is not safe for your emotional health.

Then, I think I'd deliver that resignation before the 22nd of December... beat them to the punch. Isn't your boss planning to be off during that time? Well, she probably won't fire you early because if she does, she'll have to work. If she doesn't, then while she's gone, I bet her boss, and the HR dept will be in contact with you.

Either way... when you're gone from there, you can at least devote a full time job to finding a perfect job for you.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

She was on mine because we are getting a new primary program at work and my station is the best one-has some things downloaded in the tower the other 2 don't-and when she was doing the training, it said you had to be on that station-I wouldn't care if she did look at my email or my internet history-I get on DG from a link in an old newsletter, so it doesn't appear in the history-tee hee hee....she doesn't do anything really all day-just type on her email and look up things on the internet-but her boss doesn't seem to give a crap cuz he knows this per a conversation he and I had the first week she "came back" from maternity leave that she only worked 1 day of....

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

BJ-pretty much what I plan on doing after the new year-I need to get as much $$ as I can real quick first..then it will be a full time job looking for a new one...hell-if she cuts me to like 24 hrs a wekk I would make more working at McD's!!! 24 hrs is about $225 per week-$80 in gas=$145

Jacksonville, FL

Stacey!

I definitely would NOT resign!!! Job market is horrible out there (believe me!! I know first hand!--been out of work 7 months with no unemployment and jobs are scarce-and many people applying for the same job that you are!!) If you resign you will not qualify for unemployment. If you could print out what you saw on her computer--you may have grounds for a lawsuit! Sounds like a shaft and she might lose her job by what she's doing. Keep your cool and play your cards!! You will be holding the "full house" if you just pay along with her game and don't play into her hands!

I wish you the best!!!

Linda

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I agree with BJ. Other than "HER" do you like your job?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yea, I agree with that too, what Linda said.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

What's that saying .... 'it's easier to get a job while you have a job' ......... employers are uneasy about hiring someone without a current job and would definitely be wanting a reference from your last employer. That's why I suggested not burning your bridges. Good luck!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I have references from this employer-just not her.....Linda I do appreciate your words, but as you have just joined here, you haven't heard the things that I have been through and how this job is making me so sick and stressed out that it is eating me from the inside out..,.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

BJ those are absolutely incredible!!!!! I love every one of them!!!
HMMMM a Frog with attitude…..I like it!!!!

Kim , Go Girl and have a great time!!

Waves to all…..back to the Santa’s…………

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't know about in MI, but in TX you can quit a job due to hazardous work place conditions and still draw unemployment benefits ... and emotional stress is hazardous.
Ongoing emotional stress can leave you with long term illnesses. AND I know you've been going through this with your boss for way too long, Stacey...

I do agree... if you can, and it's at all possible... you should print those emails off your bosses computer. You should also document everything your boss has said, done and threatened you with... keep everything in a journal.

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Staceypoo, get your employee handbook and read through it to see where your boss is infriging on your employment contract. That handbook should cover most all problems you've experienced between supervisor and employee. The email you read more than likely was intentional left open for you to read. She's trying to intimidate you. Google Michigan labor laws and compare the laws to protect the employee as well as those cases which describe some brought against companies by their employees. Harrassment is a fine line to defend as well as prove. It must be an unlawful harrassment or unlawful discrimination. I'm only familar with GA and North Carolina employment laws. Let me know if you find a discripancy in your handbook that your boss is making towards you. I've presented and represented both sides of the fence.
