Becky, This will be pretty on doornob or on the tree.
She's about to.....#40 Brug Addicts Chat
Thanks for the great closeups.. the little botttle looked like a "bud" to me! :) aww Bonnie that JeVay is a dollie .. how fun! We have about 6 inches of snow on the ground now..
Looks like everyone of the ornaments are made with Lots of Love!
Anyone heard from 1Anjl? I t hink she was supposed to have her surgery yesterday?
Annmarie, if your lurking, let us know how you are doing please?
LK
Snowing, blowing, and just plain unbearable outside!
Louise, you were suppose to stop by and take me with you.......waaaahhhhhh!
Not done with Christmas, close, but you know the saying.
After a year found a dining room table at one of the antique stores in Plattsburg...may never find chairs but at least we can stand up and eat and have a place to put the food. 2 year old gd loved to come to gm's and have a picnic on the rug in the dining room.
The table is pretty cool. It has a drawer and it flips open and it stores all the extensions (leaves? don't know the real spelling of it). The table goes from 48 x 44 to 8 feet long! It is oak but square not round. Can't believe I found one. Bad time of the year, with the holidays and taxes....but
Way to go Joyce. I'm happy for you and maybe Santa will find your chairs.
Show us a picture if you can. Would love to see the table.

Well the mail lady came adn went yesterday and no box. Maillady came today and was handing me more envelopes for the piggy swap and was resigned to no box again, when all of a sudden she said wait.
Then I heard it. The tinkle of bells. The maillady was handding me magazines with oen hand and tryign to pick upa box again with the other hand, and yes I heard it again Bells . Ring bells.
Yippee!!!!!!!!! My box came today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Oh everybody, evrythign is just precious and I love it all, and love ya for for letting join and makign me all this stuff. It Christmas at my house. What coudl be better than gifts of love made by your new friends? Nothing. THNAK YOU SO MUCH EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I am glad it arrived... Karen could have walked it there faster! LOL wonder what took the post office so LOOOONG! Amazing for priority mail. Just lucky it actually made it... do you live in the middle of no where? Isn't if fun opening it and seeing everything.... I really enjoyed my box.
Tammie.. You are so right. heckit left Texas on the 9th. Karen when ya go to post offic enext take the slip and get the postage back an dget ya somethign nice. priority is 3-4 days not a week. Especially since weather wasn't bad coming from yoru area to mine.
I just had a box arrive for swap that onyl took too days from Ca. and it had to come through all the storms and bad weather. Go figure.
And incase ya all haven't hear dor seen it either January 16 or 18 th that postage goes up again. Prioity boxes go up another 50 cent. Highway robbery, when gas for cars has gone down. Wish home heat gas would. called again to see what it costs and stil 280.00 bucks for 100 gallons and that onyl good for abotu 20 days in the cold. Gonna figure out how to rig some elctric heaters without blowign fuses for sure.
Go over to the prayer forum and you will hear Anjl came through her surgery with flying colors. Thinking about her on Monday and knowing all our prayers helped.
Pegi
There is a link on this thread to Anjl's thread ... look above on Dec 10th 1:40 you can check in on how she is doing there... wanting coffee! LOL
Anyone ever heard of a "Dirty Santa Present Exchange"? I am going to a party and it says to bring a gift for the exchange and I don't know what this means.
Tammie in "Dirty Santa" or "Chinese Christmas Exchange" everyone brings a gift. Usually women bring women's gifts, men bring men's gifts and they are piled into separate piles. Then the hostess counts the number of people playing and writes the numbers down on slips of paper. Each person then draws a number. When your number is called, you can either choose to open a new present, or "steal" something that another person has already opened, and you covet. A gift can only be stolen twice, and then it's safe forever. When everyone has opened a gift, whoever has the number 1 can steal any gift from anyone as long as it has not been stolen twice. It is a funny game, and gets somewhat competitive if there is a special item or two that everyone wants. Have fun!
OK, I have done that but it was called something else.. yes, it is very fun! Thank you... glad it was not something else.
Morning everyone....hope you all are warm and toasty along with your bruggies....
How about eggs and bacon sandwich on toast....I am so hungry and it is a long time until lunch.
We use to have a place that did breakfast pizza.....oh and how about breakfast tacos, that have fried potatoes, chirizo sausage....oh I am sooo hungry
Starlight glad you got your package. I just love my ornaments from the ornerys.....LOL
Starlight just be careful with electric heaters. A friend of mine did buy an electric hearter that won't burn your house down, but she paid alot of money for it, but loves it. It has a temp setting, more like a small protable furnace, and it is incased so if something falls on it, it won't start a fire. Think I will buy one next year or later this year. We have vaulted ceiling (not good) and then DH could use it in the garage during the day.
Morning everyone. Thanks for the breakfast! Down here in Texas, because we are right on the Mexico border, there are a lot of breakfast tacos sold here. And with just about any ingredients you want. Eggs, ham, sausage, chorizo, green peppers, onions, bacon, potatoes..... and the list goes on, then you can add cheese and salsa! Ok, I gotta quit, it is making me hungry too!
Hope everyone stayed warm last night, and yes, you must be careful with those little space heaters. We use them also, but we have the kind, that will shut off if they tip over, or get anything too close to them.
So glad to hear that 1Anjl, has had her surgery. I will keep praying for a very quick recovery for her, her son and daughter.
Everyone have a great day!
Linda Kay
Ella I believe that this is about the best darn electric heater you can buy and it's safe, safe, safe. It is oil filled, for radiant heat with no exposed glowing red wires.......I bought one and Jeanne (TexasGrower) did too...I see they've gone down in price...
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=35277-33454-EW6507L
Hope everyone has a great day, I have alot of candymaking to do this morning. I'll try to pop in later! Love you all!
Starting to rain again here, so far a nice mist, keeping on eye on brugs. So far the 7 buds on still on my biggest one, hoping I will get to see a trumpet of my very own.
Coffee is appreciated and I could eat a taco any time day or night. Time to get my day started, bathroom floor should be finished up today and kitchen floor will wait until after the first of the year. I feel like I own a portion of Lowe's since we have done a lot of shopping there over the last few years for home imporvement items. I have to stay out of the nursery dept. for a while though.
Everyone have a good day and stay warm.
The oil filled is what I use in my potting shed for my plants... it is keeping it in the 50's even when the temps are in the low 20's outside and the walls are only clear hard plastic.. I did use some of that spray foam gap filler in November.. made a big difference. I have one in my living room and one in my bedroom.. my main whole house furnace rarely comes on. I use the one in the living room in the evening.. turn it off when I go to bed and the one in the bedroom for a while as I get ready for bed.. they really work great! I love the type of heat they put out... really penetrating warm.. not the fleeting warm of the ceramic blower heaters. I gave my little ceramic ones away.. kept only one for the bathroom when I give the dogs their baths... I like to really warm it up in there. That price is really great.. paid $70 each for two last month!
Hello everyone. Hope your day has been good and each of you will have a better tomorrow.
Rained all day here, but I still managed to go shopping and have to go the Church tonight and give my Sunday School kids a Christmas Party.
Love to all.
Karen... Does that one, does it shut off when it reache s a temperature, or does it run non stop. The price sure is good on it. : )
Be proud of me Brug Buddies. I had got all my seedling rooted and today it was 72 out and went out and got them all potted up finally. : )
I did feel bad though, I had three little s that just didn't make it. They hd a root or two but when I picke dthem up to pot they was all soft and mushy and nasty inside. cried when I had to throw them out. : 0
Now I wil have my coffe cups back. Have hd only one, cuz had brugs rootign in al the rest adn my drinkign glasses on the counter.
I a bit worried though. We have another day and a half of good weather so will leave the brugs outside, but with them on the kitchen counter, even with the lights going 24/7 they started alot of them makign new leave s but the leave s are very small. Will they stay sort of small durign the winter or will they get big? Do brugs strech from not enough light?
Just checking in, no time to chat. Ella, yes, that heater does have a thermostat built in with several fan strengths. You can adjust the thermostat when the room is comfortable to you and it will come on and off.
Hi Everyone. Glad to see that everybody has managed to ride it out during the last cold spell. BRRRRR! We got snow and sleet. But my GH and workshop and porch kept all plants healthy.
Pegi, I have a brug (my first) that just y'd last month and it has seven buds on it also. The largest I can see the silohuette of the flower inside. It is nearing the point of the bud. I can hardly wait for them to open.
Ella, I have six seedlings popping up in their little baggies. I planted seven but so far only six have germinated. They are a ways from being potted up though. I love watching and learning from the process.
My cuttings have been getting 12 hours of light a day and their leaves started small but now are very large. One of the cuttings even has a triple Y with leaves longer than the cutting. I had to move them off to the side they've gotten so big. They were casting a shadow on the smaller cuttings. It looks like I'm growing a forest in that room. :)
My D'Longhi is different from the link Karen provided. It has a timer on it. I keep it in my sunroom and set it to come on two hours before I get up, so the room is nice and toasty when I go in there. It is the most quiet heater I have ever owned. It puts out a nice heat that radiates throughout the room. I use a Mr Heater Buddy propane heater for the GH. It has performed perfectly. The gas is cheaper than electricity. And I swear the plants look greener than they did before. I think they like it too.
Tomorrow everything is coming out of the GH to stretch and get some sun and fresh air before the next round of cold hits. It also gives the GH a chance to dry out.
I enjoyed looking at the creativity in the ornaments made by the ladies on this forum. I particularly like the use of the fish scales.
We hoped we would get rain soon and now we wish it would stop. Never fails!! It is really bad where the fires were now that the earth is so soggy and mud slides are happening. Just too much water threating some beautiful homes. Lots of snow in the mountains and in a lot of places. I'm hoping all this rain and cold won't affect my brugs. Umbrella in hand I had to go out and check on them. The one with holy leaves had fallen over but it looks OK. I should have brought in my plumeria plants too. Even my two dogs won't go out in the rain and I offered to take em out in back with the umbrella too. LOL To see some of the snow you would think we were in the midwest.
Pegi
I kind of know what you mean Pegi. We don't have the threat of mudslides, but we have been wet for about a week. If it isn't raining, sleeting, snowing , or just plain humid with fog, it's just moist. My ground is wet. I fill the need to sprout gills.
I heard about the fear of mudslides. I hope they don't happen. The weather folks say you are in for more snow in a day or two.
I check my brugs continuosly. I obsess over them. It's rediculous really.
Mornign everybody. Boy the world is foggy out there today. I usually sit here and look out the littlewindow on th eback door an dlook at the sky and the tree limbs and cant se e them this morning.
Got coffe e and a few of them hazlenut coffe e creams and always have a bowl of sugar if ya need it.
Today gonan be our last day of warmth before we start plummeting again.
Gotta try an dpot of these big brug sticks that I cut off from brug trees at school befor efrost hit em. They been soaking in a big five gallon buckey of water in the house and it not smellign very nice and if I can start to smell it ya know it bad cuz i have no sens eof smell. Can taste it in the air.
I was changign water everyday on my cuttign s and they wasn't doign anything. left em alone in the water and as it would go down would just add a cup or two more water and they all have rooted. It been kind acold in here too. Temp is usually aroudn fifty to 60 durign the day and lots colder at night.
I could be totally of about this, but seems sicne they kind alike to bloom when weather colder, maybe they liek to root when it colder too. I have read where folks had troubel rooteing Pink Perfection, but they rooted right up for me when I didn't change the water .
Texasgrower. How did you start your seeds. I sittign here with my brug seed and ready to start sowing it and am scared to death. Dopn't want to lose any of my potential babies. Maybe it cuz there so few seeds. When ya have a hundred seeds if don't seem bad if ya lose afew, but it panic time when ya know ya can't just call up and order more bruggie seeds.
becarefull evrybody , heard storm systems two and three are gonan be hittign today and saw on tv this mornign another palce that never gets snow thatgot liek 8" of it.
Sounds like everyone is in for more bad weather. Good time to hibernate, maybe I should have been born a bear. ^_^
Time is getting away from me and I'm far from ready for Christmas. Picked a bad time to have new flooring in bathroom. It is almost done then no more home improvement until end of Jan. or early Feb. Need sunshine to get myself into a better mood.
Have a good day all.
I just pressed my little seeds (7) into the potting soil in little starter pots. Don't cover them, or barely flick some dirt on them. They apparently need the light to germinate. I then watered them and put them into zip log bags and stuck them under the florescent lights for 12 hours a day. They sprouted in 11 days. The seed was from 2007. I was surprised they sprouted so fast.
It was foggy here today too. Rained several times. It's warm and very humid. Our next arctic blast comes in late Sat night early Sun morning.
Sun came out today and my mood was so much better. LOL Looks like we should get more rain so I have to get out and empty a lot of containers that filled up with rain water. Our mountains are really getting their share of snow and pretty early this year. The skiers are loving it!
I hope I don't have to wait too much longer for some flowers on my brug. I have a beautiful Christmas cactus my son bought me, full of white and red flowers.
Rise and shine sleep heads. The day goign by fast, but wil understand if some of you are still hiding under the covers. So very cold out in some parts of the country. Hope evrybody that was sick doesn't get worse from this weather.
How is everybody doing? Getting kinda worried about some folks, just hope it your out visting or busy with the holidays and nothing serious going on with ya.
Texasgrower. Thanks so much for that tip. Had bought some seeds from the marketpalce and shared em with a friend who wanted some, and she been having the dickens of a tiem tryign to germinate them. I couldn't help her since I so green with them myself.
Wanna say thanks again to everybody for th eornaments. I been lovign the heck out of them. I have to keep pickign them up and lookign at them an dplayign withthe jingle bells and stroking the art work. probably be May again before I take downmy little tree and put things away just cuz I getting so much pleasure from them. : )
Some of ya know that I hostign the piggy swap this year not onyl for the regular folks but for any kind of storm survior form the past thre eyears that needs to build gardens from flood, fires and hurricanes. Which reminds me sicne I don't get aroudn to all the forums, if ya know of somebody who has their place turned into disaster area and lost plants, let me know so I cna send them a box of seeds . They al gona be shipped out here in the next coupel of weeks.
Well, yesterday my day when from bad to worse. tryign to add cinnimon to my oatmeal the whole top fell off and I had the grossest mess to eat. Forget what cinnimon good for but if I had it in my body well, surely the amoutn I ate done killed or cured it.
But my real stuipidy showed up yesterday evening. Here what I did.
"OK, folks I have a problem. I ummmmmmmmmmmmm kinda made a big goof. I sittign here workign on the veggie seeds and made a startling discovery. I had packages of PAQUET and another and another and another and...
Now why am I mentioning them at all since I have so many???????
Welllllllll...
Some of you folks asked me for the Paquet tomatoe seeds. Some of ya even asked me what they was like because ya couldn't find them on the internet when ya googled and I couldn't help ya at the time, but added em to yoru trough.
You could google til the cows come home and you would never find em because...
I am hiding my head under the keyboard as I type this cuz my face is as red as these tomatoe seeds gonna turn once they planted. leave it to me to pull the all time dumb and dummer thing.
I grabbed the package s that said PAQUET on them to dump into a big pile and start seperating. Well, what did my eyes spot as I went to rip the corner of the package???????
PAQUET means PACKET in french. LOL
Under neath is what the cultivar names are.
So I need to know which PAQUET/PACKET of these tomatoe seeds do you want.
I have
Ultra Sweet VFT
Vendor VFT
Crista VFFN_TSWV
Indy VFFST
Florida 47R VFF
Scarlet red VFF
Hy-Beef 9904 VFT
Ok, now does anybody wanna top my "oh-oh what did I do " for the day. hehehehehhe"
I tell ya it was one of them days that makes ya want to throw yoru shovel to a neighboring field and stomp on yoru work gloves. I tell ya I almost afraid to go out the house today for wonder what kind of mini disaster I either gonna create or get into. Let me tell ya if somethign can go wrong it will happen to me.
I going to go to lowes today. Gonan get in th eshower her ein a sec and head that way while it still early. I was gonan try and print out the ad Karen gave for the link to the heater. Does anybody happen to know if ya brign in an online ad and the store price higher, will they give ya on line ad??
Ok, off to try and see if I cna a shower, now watch be just my luck that evry other house in neighborhood as same Idea and Iwil all lathered up and trickle of water only comign out again. Hate beign the last house to get water alogn the lines. No pressure.
Have a safe day everybody. prayers goign out to everybody that ya all stay well and warm and safe.
Thanks for starting my day off with a laugh starlight. That is soooo something I would do. LOL Paquet......ROTFL
Morning girls. Hope you all got a good night sleep. I am almost done for Christmas. Will go out this week-end, and get a few stocking stuffer's and be done with it! Can't believe it is almost another new year? Where does the time go? Funny about the Packets of tomato seeds! Thought I was only one that does stuff like that!
Ladies be good, and talk to you later.
Linda Kay

Hey Anjl, hope you are feeling better soon! Lucky you, you must have good insurance....I was on Medicaid when I had my hysterectomy...They sliced my gut open about 6 inches and sent me home the next morning, with no recovery, practically pushed me out the door! Hope somebody is bringing you good food so you don't have to eat the hospital junk!
Sunny and 70 again here today, but we are supposed to get another bad cold spell this weekend. As soon as Christmas is over I'm going to start sowing seeds on my heat mat, I can't wait! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! ((((HUGS))))
Annmarie, so glad to hear you doing better. Hope your home by now, but I know how slow they can be for out processing!!! Get your self a nice comfy pillow, and hold it against your tummy, if you have to cough or sneeze! It will help.
Take care.
LK
I don't know why I never thought about growing tomatoes from seeds.. would love to do it... that story was so funny! I have some tiny volunteer cherry ones that come up in my front flower bed every year.. don't have the heart to pull them up. It would be great to grow some full size tomatoes I can cut and dry in my dehydrator..I love dried tomatoes in my salads.. don't like raw... go figure!
Karen.. Thanks for that link... : ) Was a big help!!!!!! Went to Lowe's today and got me one. Gonan try and close off the rooms at the one end of the trailer I dont use so that hopefulyl wil help some more.
Was almost afraid I wasn't get out of the store with it though. dHad to swipe my card three times, kept saying denied. Was makign me panic, thinkign somebody had got into my account cuz i knew I had mor ethan enough money in there to get it.
Then once I left the register before I coudl get out the door, the alarms all started goign off and everybody looking at me. Don't liek it when folsk look at me. Seems the cashier didn't decode the hidden secruity thing in the box.
Then I went to walmart and decided for aChristmas treat was gona get me some rasin bread. Got me a loaf, was so happy, go thom ehere opened it up and it semi hard. Looked at the tiny tag and would ya believe the date on it says Nov 28 expires.
Now ther enothign wors ethan having yoru taste buds all ready for somethign to find out it no good. What a bummer. Knew I should have detoured and go ta double dcheeseburger from Micky D's.
Anjil.. Glad ya checked in and glad to hear ya doign good enough to come home. At least ya got a few days rest. Now becarefu at home too and don't be tryign to lift anythign heavy or over doing it.
be sure to take it back to Walmart and get it replaced or your money back.. they will make good on it. It is a pain but Walmart is good about that.
Anjil.. you home yet?
67 here so far today... nice... just watered my yard.. it needed it. some of the grass is still green and growing.. guess it will need to be mowed again soon. Hope dad comes over tomorrow to help put my christmas lights up.. only takes about 30 minutes. I like my house with lights on it. .. it also helps me see my dogs better outside at nights.. black dogs!
Finished my shopping, yep I'm one of those last minute people. Can't take all that shopping any more. Weather has been nice the last couple days, but they are saying we might have rain for Christmsas.
Brug still has all the buds on it, the largest one as long as my index finger. Really hoping to see a flower soon. I too am planning on sowing some tomato seeds this year, I've never tried it before.
My bathroom floor looks really nice now, and divider is finished except for a primer coat of paint and that will wait a few days. I have a lot of work planned for myself when spring arrives. Hope they have energy pills out by then.
