Just got back.. don't go to bed yet Donna!
Yes, you can show what you got..

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

No need for forgiveness, Tia... sometimes we all just need a bit of a reminder. Now you can remind me of the next thing I need to remember, okay? ☺ Hope it works!

Brenda

Hi Tina from MB :D Was at the NMB post office this morning when it opens.. talk about slow lines.

Thought I had the most delicious Flautas and here you all making me hungry with enchiladas, navy bean pie and tamales.

Sistah Deborah, I got your card, and YES I love you!!! I pray you have a fine time with your mama and hug her for us will ya. Tell her you got sistahs you've never even met!!

Awww Debra!!! Did I write the wrong zip code there?? I hope they reroute it to you. Or I'll just send you another, if you didn't get it by the end of the week.

Audrey, I used to make chess pies. For the base, instead of a cake base, just use a pie shell. Pour the filling and bake and top with coconut if you want to.

As for the hats... they're simply hats.. nothing fancy. Use your imagination to embellish them. Your style. There are some that already have the decorations included. Use them if you want, or come up with your own. I know how creative you all can be!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I had to take a third look at that bird BJ!! It's jaw dropping gorgeous!!
Wow, your garden will certainly have the most fancy plant stake!! Great job Sistah!

Susan, I can try growing strep. I can assign a corner in the spare room, for a light to be on at all times. No wait.... I got too much plants to take care of!! Lol... I don't want to kill any more plants from lack of attention. Think I'll stick to what I have right now!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Deborah I am sooo Happy for you.....You and Larry have a safe and wonderful trip!

Audrey, Chess Squares sound wonderful!!!

Donna , ya have to post a picture before you go to bed......don't leave us in suspense!!

Here is my latest.......a Missus to go with the Little Santas........

Wow, I go off to do some sewing, and get dinner done, and come back to a bunch of busy chatters. All this food makes me hungry! Tamales are very plentiful here at the holiday time, and they sell for like $3.00 per dozen. Some from pork, some from beef, and some from venison. All are good, but I prefer the pork ones.
Audrey, that chess squares sounds really good for dessert.
Bj, that bird plant marker is so cute. You are so talented with that clay! I can't wait to see the bee your working on. It was me that got the crazy bugs from Bj earlier this year in one of the swaps.
Sleep tight everyone, and stay warm.
LK

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Trisha, please tell me where you got the doll face from?
LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, I special order my tamales from an old Mexican living here. She sells them for a dollar a piece, and it's pork fillings. She's generous with her fillings too.
Trisha.............you make me sick!!!!!! Sistah.. that is beautiful lady Santa! Is that from the mold that you purchased online? And is her hand also molded? Wow!!! You should set up crafting classes here..

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

It is a polymer clay push mold that I got at JoAnn's or Michaels, can't remember which...

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sorry Jaye.....it is just Betty's Victorian Santa that I substituted a polymer clay molded doll face for the Santa face and little polymer clay molded hands for the mittens.....

What about doing one with wings.....if I can figure out how to make wings????

Wish you could send me some really good tamales!!!! You would think with our Hispanic population one would be able to get good Mexican food here.....no such luck so far.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep... LK... those dodo birds... forgot about those... guess what I'll attempt next?

Oh, my.... Deborah... you've waited long enough to go see your mom... please enjoy every minute of it... hug her for me too... I miss my mom, and really need a MOM fix about now.

Jaye... I had some reindeer headbands last year... but when Don brought the decorations home from the storage room, I guess a mouse had gotten into one of the buckets, and ate those, and my Christmas throw, and one of the Santa hats. Thought they were safe in those plastic buckets, but guess not.

Now, I'm feeling a tamale fix coming on... guess I'm going to have to go to my son's this weekend, and spring for dinner... huh?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I better go through those aisles at Michael's real slow, and pay attention to what's offered there. Thanks Trisha. Doll making would be a nice challenge for 2009!!
Tina in MB.. I guess I misexplained myself. Sorry if I had insulted you. What I meant, is if they don't know anyone living in MB, SC and the return address has disappeared, the package is from me. How stupid of me.. you are an MB resident, and I mailed you a pack too!! Forgive me my sistah.. pretty please?
Normally I'm pretty wary of unknown packages, but I open them anyway!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

BJ is the buzzy bee done yet!!!!???!!! We want to see!!!

Jaye, These face molds are with the Polymer clay or you might be able to find them on line. They are much smaller than Betty's that we use for the Santas....the completed Doll is about 10 inches tall. I told Betty she has created a monster....these dolls are becoming an addiction!!!

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

Jaye- You didn't insult me. I just wondered what could be scary about a package from MB. Maybe a box full of sand and shells that would fall over your floor when opened !! LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, I almost got us all reindeer headbands. But on second thought, I was thinking of the gun toting mamas here plus cars try to run over you if you try to go pick up your mail with those headbands on!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Phew.. thank you Tina!!! Hmm.. sand from MB.. we could market that and sell to those snowbirds that are slowly taking over!! Lolol!!
Trisha, I am in awe of Betty who could do anything!!!!!!!!!!! Even carpentry!!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Evenin ladies

my my have we been busy today ....BJ love the bird great job
Trish love the misses very pretty lady there

the recipes sound great too

*waves to everyone not mentioned and Robyn good to see ya around too

now question for all quilters and I know it's not the best picture but hey it was with my phone LOL
the photo below do the stitches look okay for hand quilting??? I was going to try using my machine but it's being a turd right now and I would hate to mess up the quilt by having thread bunched up under it
I thought I better try some practice stitches and I used orange so they would show up to ask

I know I have to pick up a hand held stretcher thingy and a thimble cause I can't find mine adn I thought if I got a marker that washes out I could kinda mark the pattern I want to do on it ....they do that right?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Good choice Jaye, don't want any Sistahs mistaken for reindeer do we?!?

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi All,
Peeking her head out of the shell....LOL Ok movie is over and I have to work in the morning....So I will be going to bed soon.... Well if you ever decide you want to try growing a strep you let me know and if you would like to wait for warmer weather that is even better...
I did not get to read all of the thread about the young man helping in the kitchen... So if I get this wrong just remember Its me not you...LOLOL Ok I have 4 sons. When they were younger we would bake alllll the time and my sons to this day love to bake, sometimes cook.... Mike the baby at 21 got upset with me this year when I said we were buying pie.. He said no we are going to make them... Well this time I won and we got our pies at the store...LOLOL You have to understand I don't eat the stuff and if it is here hubby will eat it all so nope... I am not saying I never eat it but I like real food... LOL
Oh I can't wait for my hat... I will have someone take a picture of me in it.... I am calling bingo in Jan. 2009 in the AV forum and I will wear it there also....LOLOL
Well my sistah's I am going to bed and I will see you all after dinner...
Hugs,
Susan

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

DUH might help to include the photo uh ....LOL

and Tina I agree with the girls on punk boy too try a lil each week and if you can get him to help you make something in the kitchen to eat that might help him want to try things too

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... too funny Jaye... but last year, I did wear my Santa hat, or the reindeer headband, or the elf hat every time I left the house... got lots of looks at the grocery store, for sure.

Just got the wings on the bee... letting him set up a bit now ... if I pick him up now, his head might fall off. That TLS has to set just a bit before it goes in the oven.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That looks good Phyllis!
DG will sure boot me off for reckless endangerment to some sweet Sistahs, Trisha!!! Rather be a reckless enabler....Lolol!!

Sometimes I didn't use a frame when I used to hand quilt Phyllis. Just keep the stitches uniform.

I should start on either the top or one of the sides and work my way across it right?
and have a bating stitch across where I start to keep everything together ?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Depending on your pattern. And if you're not using a hoop or a frame, whatever position you feel comfortable to start on.
You could use safety pins to hold the quilt together too.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

oh gee thanks for the link so many places to read and gets confusing LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Take your time, Phyllis. Practice makes perfect.
I happen to be one that finds it impossible to use a regular thimble. But the leather thimble is more to my liking.

Sistahs, Brenda is right!! Who would have thought of using light bulbs as rooting vessels!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

It just doesn't pay to go do anything or you miss everything!! I love the dodo bird!!!! How adorable. Waiting on the bee's appearance. BJ that was just an old Christmas ornament? Getting to the point I am afraid to throw anything out--might have another use for it.

Looking forward to my package from MB--certainly will wear it--maybe even to my luncheon in Gainesville on Thursday. Now how would that be for class?

Deborah, I am so happy you are going to be able to go see your Mom. Please be safe and have a wonderful time. Oh I can only imagine what Gatlinburg will be like this time of year!!! Take pictures please.

Laura, glad to see you back with us. Was wondering if you had the bug that seems to be going around or just busy as a lot are this time of year.

Susan, you probably have pulled completely in your shell all nice and cozy sleeping--if not I do hope you rest well. Lucky Donna, early surprise!!! Organization-I really need to learn the meaning of that word!!

Debra, hope tomorrow is better for you. I know how you feel when you have days like that. Thank goodness they don't happen often. As previously asked by Brenda, any luck with your dress search? Let us know--don't keep us in suspense.

Well I think I am headed for bed. Have doctors (eyes) appointment tomorrow and my car has to be taken in afterwards for service. So I need to be up and at 'em early as there are some errands that must be done before I find myself without transportation for a day!! Sleep well everyone.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good luck at the eye doctor tomorrow Maid M. Sleep well you too!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the tips and everything I am headed out for the night

oh and I put up the tree yesterday

Have a good evening!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Christmas comes alive at Phyllis'! Goodnite Sistah!
BJ.. is it done yet????

Trisha, I'm off to bed myself. Gonna be another long day tomorrow for us. Hope the weather warms up a bit.

Good night all!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It's baked, and sanded... got to let it dry before I can polish it...
Patience, my dear.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Night Jaye, sleep well and take care.

BJ, trying to be patient....ohoh......:)

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Lovin' the Christmas decorations! Here are our outdoor lights tonight, after about 3" of snow. BTW, it is gorgeous out right now, the snow is sparkling (haven't figured out how to photograph that effectively yet), no wind, just silently beautiful.

Sweet dreams, new sistahs. If I may ask, think good thoughts for my sister Dixie back in Western New York, stomach problems took her to the hospital today. Hoping it's nothing serious.

Will keep Dixie in our prayers......Sleep well......leave your worries with God, he will be up all night anyway.

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Thank you, Trisha. ♥

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, here it is... Mr. Bumble Bee.
But I think I do need to find a much better way to polish in those little crevises... I don't notice it till I see it in the pictures.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Beautiful Decorations, Brenda... nicely done.
Keeping your sis in my prayers... for some reason, I hear of a lot of people lately with stomach problems...
I think I was miraculously cured of mine... but I do have a theory what it might have been... one of about a hundred theories I've had in the last 6 months. ugh.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

BJ he is absolutely fantastic!!!!! So, what is next????
I'm working on another Santa......and trying to decide on the next little one....

As to the stomach problem, for one you had a whole lot of Sistahs praying for you.......
