New Addition Part ll - Sophie's Choice

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I'll drink to that....Happy New Years everyone!^_^

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Happy New Year, everyone. Candyce - (on the subject of grooves) I have been missing playing my LPs even though I have a turntable. The speakers don't reach the kitchen where I need the most distraction. So I bought a USB turntable and when it comes, I can turn them into CDs or MP3s complete with the pops and the crackles that I love so much! Now I have to buy a portable CD or MP3 player. Anyone one of the youngins here know where I can buy blank MP3s? (I tried google and I'm just not doing it right.)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yank, if my understanding is correct, MP3 players ARE blank when you get them. You need to download your own music from another site, CDs, or your PC.
Amazon has a great place that answers alot of questions on the subject....

Hope this helps!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ummm, anyone who prays.....say an extra one for Bubbles & Clan tonight. We are expected to be -29 by morning here, im very stressed thinking about it. sniffle*

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - that's the temp or wind chill??

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Our temps will be anywhere's from 6 degree's to -6 in some spots but the wind chill is what will be the killer.
I'm hoping they go under Auntie's house and stay next to the foundation out of the wind. I'd bring them in if I could but only one will let us pat it. The other 2 are skiddish and still young, I think if they huddle together too it will be better for them. I'm praying, crossing my fingers and toes too!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Oh gosh! And I tought it was bad here...It's blizzarding right now--glad it is not essential for me to drive today. I'm thinking that if Bubbles and babes survived the ice storm, they will get through this as well. The babies were little then, and survived--they must have found some adequate protection from the elements. Just to be sure, I will say a little New Years prayer for them...so will Columbus!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh, dear, Celeste......that is pretty darn cold for those furry little critters. You can count on some prayers from me! Please keep us posted if you see that they are ok tomorrow!!

Hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank you both and Happy New Year's to you and yours!!!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Pixie please don't worry. Northern bunnies are tough and they will burrow in and stay warm and safe til the cold snap is over. No signs of bunnys here for awhile but they will come over to play once the cold snap is over.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks DN, that helps alot.

Thomaston, CT

Poor bunnies--but they'll make it---snow is an insulator. Hope Momma bunny is all wild---she must have mated with a domestic--and remember the snow from last year, Pixie? I guess this year it's our turn!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Pixie ~

It got awfully cold here, too, last night. Down to 8 below. Have you seen the Clan yet?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes!! All were spotted today!! I was almost in panic mode last night when DH spotted the 2 babies hopping into the woods. This morning the dogs alerted me to Bubbles in the backyard.....all accounted for!!!
Thanks everyone for the prayers and good wishes that they'd make it thru!!!!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Glad they are all fine--I had faith they would be. Of course, I guess it is easier not to be worried down here in CT., than up there in ME., where you were probably constantly vigilant.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I know that they are 'hardy' and all that....but it was brutally cold here for over 24 hours. I'm a mother-hen worry-wart. lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good to hear, Celeste!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Whew!! Thanks for letting us know, Celeste! Maybe Brian could put Sophie down long enough to build Bubbles & Babies an igloo with an underground tunnel to the mudroom????? That's sounding pretty good to me!! LOL

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I like it!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

I am, as always, playing catchup. What a wonderful story, Celeste! I am in love with Sophie, of course. That pic of Brian with her in his shirt is a real keeper. I knew he was a sweetheart, but that goes above and beyond. And I am very glad you snuck in a pic of Orry's first b'day...she's adorable. I wouldn't mind giving her a snuggle either lol.

I am very lucky to call you my friend. jan

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Great news to hear, Celeste!
I'm so relieved that all are safe and accounted for!

Thomaston, CT

Yea for the bunnies! What do they eat in this weather?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

They probably eat everything that Celeste puts out there for them.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Good to hear all bunnies accounted for ^_^ My bunnies eat seed pods, berries, dried foliage and grasses in the time of the cold and the dark. It's another good thing about the messy winter garden theory ^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I do add a few things for them......rabbit pellet food, a fresh bowl daily and some Timothy Hay or Alfalpha every other day.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

♪♪ Pixie's gonna have a flock of bunnies in a year or two. Pixie's gonna have a flock of bunnies in a year or two ♪♪

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Hee-Hee!

Celeste is going to have a HEARD of rabbits.

If it was cats it would be a Den, birds would be a flock then you get down to turkeys verses chickens another whole word. Pack of dogs and a group of bears is a Sleuth. etc, etc.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Whatever you call 'em there's gonna be a LOT! lol

We had one wild baby bunny in our yard all summer. I think a fox or coyote got the rest of the family. It's the first one I've seen since we moved in except one frozen one in the snow. We spent the whole season startling each other coming around corners. He didn't do much damage around the garden, although I did see him in my veggie garden pots. He was living under my bay window behind some overgrown spirea. When I had the spirea trimmed in the fall, it either scared him or the guys really tromped on his burrow, because I haven't seen him since.

Didn't realize bunnies were so resourceful--hope my grandkids get one in the spring--then I can play with it, but not clean up after it---sort of like the grandkids!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

OK, I love all the banter, and I hate to complain, but pixie I need my dose of Sophie! Can we get a new picture pretty please? I got the shakes!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

and I'd like to add that it'll also appease my husband, who says every time he sees me on this site, "Any news about Sophie?" What can we say, we're suckers for the cuteness!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm a little tremulous myself!
Also wanted to add--When you live with a rabbit, you are amazed at how resourceful and intelligent they are!

Upstate, NY(Zone 5a)

I've been lurking through this thread from the beginning. Sophie is soooooooo cute!! Love the story.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

So, How is the book coming along?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

schickenlady - I always thought it was a clowder of cats.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I thought it was a coven of cats?? cuz they are associated with witches although my cat is a member of bedlum of cats cuz he's crazy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think it is clowder also. For kittens, a kindle. (Not to be confused with that Amazon reading thing.)

is there a name for a group of people? group, bunch, crowd? I kind of like gaggle.

yeah, where is our latest Sophie pic?

I've always wanted a pet bunny. I know you have to be very careful of electrical wires. They do like to chew. I have a friend who had 4 of them at various times. People just gave them to her. She had an old playpen she covered with chicken wire to keep them in when they weren't roaming the house. They were easily litter trained. My favorite was the one with the lop ears. Just adorable. But none of them had anything on Sophie.
