New Addition Part ll - Sophie's Choice

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great. Not long before two on his chest!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Awwww, that's terrific! Good move on letting him down when he pushed away.....building trust takes time and is done is small steps.....maybe he'll plop down your chimney on Christmas! LOL

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Jan23 I have been using 'Squirrel Begone' but its discontinued. I'm trying a new organic one that the Wild Bird Store just brought in called 'Sqirrel Away'. I just got it so no report on how it works yet. Tree Rats live for 4- 30 years depending on the species so I'm hunkering down for the long haul. And of course Damien is immortal being the Spawn of Satan sigh.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I would really would like to know if it helps keep the squirrels away.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I was so disappointed that they discontinued 'Squirrel Begone'. I was ready to give up on open feeders until I discovered it. Damien won't go near it or anything that is tossed out of the open feeder. Hopefully the new product will work just as well.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I didn't know squ's had a 30 year life.
That changes my whole stratigy, and they reproduce I suppose?lol

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It's very cold here this morning...5° with a wind chill factor making drop to around -14° so say a little prayer that Bubba bunny is all right. I went out this morning and froze my bottom off but didn't see him. I found his tracks in the snow and they went to the shrubs in front of Aunties house next door. He didn't come out when I called but I'll go back out in a little bit and see if he'll come out once the sun is out and warmer...although the high for today will only be 16.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Perhaps he found a warmer natural shelter? I'll bet you will see him @ noon--when sun is bright and he gets hungry....

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

"We" just shouldn't get so attached to these "animals". Yeah - like that is gonna happen! I just put out a house for front porch cat knowing full well that s/he has a home somewhere else. (He just like me better.)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

6 inches of snow and still coming down! I'm so excited I can't stand it! No sign of bunnies since it started. I think they're nestled in but they'll be out for food. The crazy ole cat jumped off the stairs and disappeared up to his tail so is definitely in a fine mood now. What kind of 'house' YankeeCat?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We barely got 2" but i'm not complaining! It's just enough I could track Bubba over to Auntie's house. DH found where he goes in under her house to keep warm....I won't worry as much now.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Love the visual of the cat disappearing into the snow. Did you pull him out by the tail. LOL

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

wren he did a rocket sprong right back up onto the steps and then gave me 'the look'. Of course it's all my fault even though I warned him.

LOL

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

rotflol--you made my morning!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thanks dahlianut for the info.
We just had a dusting of snow. Currently 23.
Smiling on the image of cat disappearing into snow then giving 'THE look'.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

don't they all way blame us poor humans. I lived with 3 Siamese for a long time.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I get the look once a day rather I need it or not!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

dahlianut - I am trying one of those covered cat boxed with the flap door. It is big enough for a cat to curl up inside of and the bottom is high enough that it won't let snow in the flap on the porch even with our biggest snow fall. If Meeyow will use it (and not for an outhouse) I will add some insulation and fix it up a bit. If s/he won't use it for a bed - I will use it for a cat box. I can always use a new cat box at my house.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Meeyow should luv it. Out of the wind and off the cold ground.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Maybe - s/he has a very thick coat an tends to stay underneath a small evergreen tree in a pile of leaves. S/he would like to move in the house - but with three - there is no more room at the Inn.

Edited to add that Meeyow has a lettermate who comes to visit s/he every now and then. If I took Meeyow off the street - then the littermate would be lonely - which means taking in two and maybe someone's pets. It is a slippery slope when you start to put food out.

Who took in a stray cat this summer?
I remember a picture of it on the washer with a dog nose reeeeally close.

Let me guess see if I can remember. It was either flowerjen or allison ?????

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes and didnt a neighbor claim it?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wasn't it Weeze - venu?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

As in 'Hi. I live next door but I will fake misery for cat treats''? There are a couple of those poodytats in my neighbourhood. The well-groomed, plump look sorta gives them away.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Def wasn't me.... I wouldn't take in a cat if you paid me.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

You can get paid for taking in a cat? LOL

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

hee hee

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You have to pay the cat!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I can't believe she is growing that fast. I hope her little bones and joints don't ache.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)
