Cindy, my dad and DH are that way to at least a certain extent. Dad is really good with his tools going back where they belong, but mom is always asking where he put x. DH just scatters everything about and can't find it. The one I hate the most is the remote controls ending up in the kitchen, side table, etc. where they don't go.

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Okay, ladies, I hope this helps and I can explain bow making without being in person. First, take your ribbon (I like to work from a bolt so I don't run out of ribbon). The bolt always falls on the floor, so just leave it there, LOL!

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Make a small round loop on top of your thumb, like this...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Twist the ribbon at the bottom of the round loop so the right side stays outward...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Make a loop bringing it down under your thumb...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Twist the ribbon again under your thumb, so that the right side will be outward again (your thumb and forefinger are holding the whole thing together)...

When you all are done making bows, take time out to decorate this tree. Easiest decorting I ever did! Have a HAPPY!

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Now make another loop on the opposite side, bring it back under your thumb, and twist ribbon again so right side is outward...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Here's the twist underneath, you just keep tucking the ribbon under your thumb and hold it with the forefinger...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Continue making loops and twisting, as many as you want, to make the bow as big as you'd like...

Where are my sistahs?? Don't tell me you all ran to WM to get some wired ribbons???

Very clear instructions, Brenda.

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

More loops...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

When you have enough bow loops, make one or two big circle loops out the bottom, these will form the "tails"...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

oooops, I forgot to mention at the beginning to make sure you have a piece of florist wire handy!, so now, after scrambling to cut a piece of floral wire without dropping the bow, put the wire through the center of the first small center loop you made, like this...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Hold it together tightly, and flip it over. Twist the wire tightly at the back of the bow... (sorry this pic isn't very clear, but it's me flipping it over to twist the wire on the back)..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Brenda, thanks for the instructions. that looks pretty easy to do.
So what do you mean, when you said, "I author online real estate classes"?
LK

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Once you have it tightly secured with the wire, cut the "tails" (just cut the big loop in half)...

Thumbnail by bsavage
Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Then fluff it up and "waalaaaa"! A bow!

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Hope the bow lesson helps. LK, I've been a Realtor for nearly 20 years, I'm a real estate broker, and real estate educator. A couple of years ago I left the sales and management side of that business to focus on the education side of it. I work with a national company that provides online real estate, mortgage, and title continuing education and licensing classes. I write a lot of real estate classes for them, they do the online production of it, and we provide the classes all over the country. So, I have a website that offers all of the real estate classes for all of the states we are approved in, as do many other distributors. And, as you can see, I'm getting nothing done so far today, gotta get to work!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, sounds like you stay busy! very nice job indeed, and it sounds like you don't have to worry, and count on selling houses right now, for a paycheck?
LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Great job!!!!! Thank you ever so much. I guess then the secret is to keep practicing making them. Right? I was taught to do them that way but for some reason I still have trouble with the twisting part. Also I was using pipecleaners--maybe the florist wire is the real secret.

Debra, hope you saw this and copied it. Brenda you are a much welcomed and talented sistah for sure.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I was lost.....again....I hate when that happens, I know I miss so much!!

Thanks for the lesson in bow making. Very pretty. I'll be trying it soon.

Has anyone heard from Audrey yet? I had to skim since I'm at work, so maybe she posted and I missed it.

Dad got results of his CT scan. His carotid is 50% blocked. The MD said they don't worry about it until it is 85% blocked. Okay...we should be good for a while then! Thanks for all those prayers ladies.

Welcome to my new Sistahs! You've come home, for sure!

Just wanted to make sure you all don't forget me....I'm the Buckeye Sistah....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Awwwww... Joyce calls this home.. me too, Joyce.. ^_^
Had so much to do this morning, and still more left to be finished by today!
Don't have a to do list.. but got a get that behind going list :D
Thanks Brenda. I normally pay the town's florist to do my bows with my purchased ribbon. Now I can save $5 plus gas cost!!
Off to the post office.
Sistahs, forgive me for being rude, but I'll return and address your postings later........

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... Hi Joyce, Our Buckeye sistah !!!... You really need to check in more often... but I'm so glad to hear that your dad is ok for a while... although, 50% still doesn't sound so good to me.

Brenda, that's clear as glass to me... thanks. Now, if I can just get my hands to cooperate, and they don't both believe they're LEFT hands, I should be able to do that.

Thanks Janice... I just wish decorating the tree was that easy. I got mine all put together, and lit up... all the branches all straightened out, and the skirt under it... now, just to get all the ornaments on it.

Found the broom... Don set it on the floor propped up next to the washer, and it fell down behind the washer. We have a rack to hang the brooms and mops, and it's just right there next to the washer... but he couldn't hang it where it belongs... guess I'm going to have to get the label maker out and make a big label for it that says "BROOM"...

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh goodness I use to make bows till my fingers cramped. Very nice.

Punk boy is loving wrestling so far. We will see. he needs something to use up his energy.

I have 5 naked neck chicks now and they are all nice and warn in my house in the brooder. Last one hatched last night, had to help it tho. they will be in the house for another 6 weeks ughhhhhhhhh. if it was warm out they would only be in for the 1st few days then outside brooder. Brooder= nice warm no draft place to live.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Got the area cleaned up for where the tree goes maybe tomorrow night we can put it up, Punk Boy has practice tonight and cant do it without the supervisor.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

So it is safe to say Don is a typical man, BJ? Do you think putting a label will help--interesting to know.

Joyce, we be missing you!! Why do you keep losing us? That is just no way to treat your sistahs. Just plain not nice. LOL Well I am happy about Dad's news. Does seem high to me but then I am certainly not a doctor.

Oh Tia, Tina, Whatever, those poor baby's neck will get so cold. Curious is it the breed they look like that? Still worries me. Be sure to keep them very warm. Keep us Grandmas updated on Punk Boy's wrestling. So you were holding out on us about know how to make bows? Ah ha! It isn't nice to fool Mother Nature now. I am gonna remember that.

Jaye, I am absolutely positive with your talent you will master the bows in no time. I still have lots of trouble with the "twisty" part but then maybe using floral wire will be easier.

Once again, Brenda, thanks so much for posting that. I am going to practice some more tonight while watching "House". This time I am using floral wire. It is so good to have a sistah with yet another talent who will share so we all can learn something new.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I keep losing you because you talk so dang fast!!!! :)

Well at 90 1/2, dad is happy to have to do nothing right now with his neck. So I'm hoping the doc knows what he's talking about. After just going through the valve surgery, he certainly didn't want to face another again so soon!

I meant to say beautiful chicks Tina...how sweet is that?

I also meant to say, Kathy I'm so sorry you lost Flower. :o( but happy that May and Pilgrim are doing well.

Trisha...love the Herons you are ONE talented woman!

I always feel so unworthy to be a sistah when I see what ALL of you can do with your talents.....I smile a lot....does that count?????

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh I am sure you have a talent but haven't share it with us yet. I just know it!!!!

That is good news for Dad. My Mom is at the specialist today to learn what will be going on with the Parkinsons. Like your Dad if she is 90 before getting it then she is lucky. Other get it so much younger.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Joyce has a special talent-drinking bloody mary's!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Mornin’ to some, after noon to some, so Good Day to you all!

Sage will love the little School stories!!!!!!

LK I love the Reindeer…sooooo cute!!!

Donna I did my room in a pumpkin spice….it looked really pinky until it dried completely.

Laura is right, in my DH;s shop he keeps it all spotless, nothing ever out of place……as soon as he walks into the house you can follow the trail of stuff he leaves laying around!

Thanks for the Bow Lessons, Brenda, that was fantastic.

Had to take mum down to the printers…they were closing out a bunch of paper and envelopes……she got eight 500 sheet reams of card stock…..gues she plans on making a few more cards….lol!

I just got 13 Santa faces that I need to get painted…… about half a dozen of the little ones to make and paint…..several packages I need to finish up and ship……and at least four or five leatherwork projects to get done.

If that isn’t enough I found my Polymer Clay books and would like to find time to make some more clay animals…..those may have to wait for next years Santas!

The dog is saying she would really like to go out NOW…..talk to ya later….

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Thank you, Brenda! Would not have thought someone could teach bow making on a thread but you did a terrific job. That very first loop seems to be the key to making it look nice. Can't wait to give it a try! (may have to replace the bows on DH's pair now that I know the secret)

Joyce, glad to hear your dad won't need surgery. And, yes, smiling definitely counts! Too bad more people don't have that talent.

BJ and Cindy, I got a laugh out of your references to men not putting things away. What's the deal anyway? My DH leaves a glass on the counter every morning with a few drops of orange juice in the bottom to dry out if I don't rinse it - leaves it about 2 inches from the sink and 18" from the dishwasher. Also every day: leaves the dry cleaning tags from his dress shirt on his bathroom counter (a little gnome puts them in the trash), dirty clothes on the floor (same gnome), and either beer caps or dirty jigger used for gin on the counter at night (yep, same gnome).

Me, Me, Me...I'll test it!!! :o) a couple of times!

I want you girls to know what I just ordered for myself. A toolbox that is all PINK!!! Now when I see a tool in his hand, if it's pink I'll KNOW he stole it from me! He's really bad about giving me tools to be just for my use, then stealing them back! I've threatened and threatened that I was going to buy my own, and now I have. So there...

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)
