Hey Linda Kay... been cold here.. and i am NOT ready for it..lol

It is only 29 here this morning, and my brugs are starting to wilt, so if anyone wants any of them, please let me know. They are all NOIDs, except the pink insignis, and a pink velvet. I have no clue what the other colors are, they have not bloomed for me yet, except for one real pretty orange one.
I will have them soaking in water, so let me know if you want them now, or when they get rooted, maybe later this spring?
I will put your name on the known ones, in the order they come in. There will probably be about 5-6 cuttings of each, maybe more?

heya kids! We are in Florida! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Sounds like you all did!

Morning! Coffee and hot cocoa for everybody. freezing here. Forgot to turn any heat on last night and woke up to it being about 40 in here and see the critters waters outside is frozen over. Need to go out and bust it up for them.

While out wandering around yesterday found a lady bug nymph crawling around. Gathered it up and put it in gh and hopefully it will live. Surprised after all the frost and cold to see one has hatched.

I gotta do somethign later today for sure. Got kittens hiding up in the insulation and under my trailer. Listened to them pace back and forth last night. Got a squirrel who has discovered a new hiding place, my furnance pipe. trying to see if I gonan be brave enough to try and cral on the roof and try and put somethign aroudn there to keep him out. he crawls down there and ya cant lift the little vent thing cuz he has his rump parked on it.

Got a lizard that is runnig around in here on plants that I brought in. Scared the daylights out of me. Went to water and there was two big eyeballs, eyeballign me. tried chasing him aroudn the counter, but no way to catch him unless I want to knock over a few cups of plants rooting in cups. Long a she stays off the computer and doesn't go to all kind sof weird animals sites, I gues s he will ok. If I start getting membershp bills for lizard international magazine or something, he and I gonan have talk. ; )

Starlight, the wind is blowing something awful here and cold but bright. Noticed my water garden is frozen over so I need to get the heater out and get a hole in it for the fish. Thought I heard something about storm tomorrow....just in time for work.....

I stepped back a lil... then bent over and looked... man... it was a lizard having a tea bath!! I hollered for Lyle to get him out... he came grudgingly..lol... and i threw all the tea out.. Lyle said... what did you do that for... just a lil poop... I said YEAH... that was why I was throwing it out..lol... hope you have the heater lit and it's nice and cozy... hows the finals coming??

LOl becky... That so funny. Now ya gonan have me looking in my coffe cup every few minutes to make sure mine don't move.

I think the thing that gets me the worst is when ya go to take a shower and pul back the curtain, go to turn on the water and find them crazy little tree frogs with the big sticky feet in the summer time tryign to get a drink and a mistign from the shower too. Make sme scream every time.

Ella... TG I have only had a tree frog once in my shower.... earlier this fall when I brought some plants inside, I filled the bathtub with plants... then I took them all back out, but one lil tree frog liked the weather in here better than outside i guess and he stayed... so when i went back to draw the shower curtain.. I jumped and hollered... I always holler... I couldn't catch the thing... I tried everything... then he went behind the commode... so i left him... then i went back and yay.. I caught him

BUT yeah.. it makes you check every open container for awhile...lol

hope everyone is doing well, or at least better than me and son! grrr! lol!

I am waiting for next available surgery date....dont even care if its christmas morning.....just want it done and over with!

son will be coming home soon, its a day by day situation....so I am now converting my old workout room (which was GOING to be my greenhouse this year) into a studio apartment for him to stay and recover in. He'll probably be here for 6 months to 1 yr...so guess no early seed starting for me this year! :(

today I am going to start pouring cement in my back yard, decided instead of exposed aggregate & decks we are putting in the cobble stone walkway & patios....one bag of cement at a time, so I wanna get as much done as I can before I have my surgery, cause after surgery I wont be able to work on it again for 6 weeks :(

and the best part of the project .... I get to do the work all by myself!! I think DH finally realized that he is not superman and cant get all these projects done himself....and that I AM capable (also NOT superwoman!! lol!) but I think I have proven to him that I am capable enough....specially when he looks out the window every day and sees all the wonderful work I have done so far! lol!

will definitely take before and after pix and start a thread to show my progress....but it will be a LONG haul! lol. there is about 800 sq feet of dirt that needs cement! :( this cobblestone pathway will also be my brug pathway too tho! so anxious to get it done and get my bruggies in their permanent home! yippee!!

{{hugs}} to all my friends here....oh and please let me know once you start receiving the ornaments! my heart will be pitter pattering til I know that they all arrived, and arrived safely! if there is anything broken, let me know... I have some spares I can replace it with :o)

Hello everyone. We have no tree frogs here, but I would rather find a frog in my shower, than a scorpion!!! We have done that a few times, so it is an automatic thing to shake out the shower curtain!!!
AnnMarie, are you going to have your hysterectomy, or something else? What did they say was wrong with your son?
Can't wait to see your new pathway! It sounds so pretty.

anjl... hope for you a quick surgery date, and fast recovery.. seems like you have have enough troubles lately, and it's time to start enjoying yourself with no pain!! Your pathway sounds like it's going to be loads of work but sooo beautiful when you finish it!! Congrats!!

I have at least 5 small buds on one brug and hope I don't lose them like the last ones. Every morning I go out to check on them, something I've never done before. The yellow NOID from Kim seems to be a regular feeding ground for those darn green worms. Picked another one off of it this morning. Maybe if I keep checking on it I can eliminate them once and for all. That would call for a happy dance.

Anjl.. You becareful with them bags of cement. They heavier than what they look like. As much stuff as I try to lift and lug, I know better than to try and do bags of cement. You'll be hurting yourself for sure.

Debra.. Wish I could send ya a few too. They harmless, but scare the dickens out of ya when your not looking.

Linda Kay. Oh my. Oh my. I like spiders as they do good for th eplants , but I think I would be freakign big time if I came across a scorpin. I would be able to sleep and always watchign over my shoulder for one. Them are way tooooooo scary.

We have scorpions, tree frogs, lizards and geckos. I've managed to eliminate the scorpions from the house. I hate them. I have a gecko living in the sunroom. I see him come out at night every now and then. I like them.

We are going to warm up until Tues night I believe it is. Got down to 34 here last night and 48 is predicted for tomorrow night. Tomorrows low is supposed to be 62. Ah life in east Texas. You don't like the weather? stick around a day and it will change. Sometimes even within hours.

I will keep those of you hurting or who have loved ones hurting, in my prayers.

My brug buds are growing like champs. I haven't lost any. I check them everyday and encourage them. Miss Gargantuan is now Mama. I have a white NOID that Bonnie gave me that has thrown a triple y with little buds. The plant in total is only 9 inches long. The side shoot off the cutting is only four inches long and has leaves 8 inches long. It is growing profusely. I hope it doesn't out grow the guest room.

I love watching brugs grow from sticks. I have planted seven seeds. I'm really looking forward to growing them .

I have a couple of bromeliads that have a spider living in their pot. I leave them be. I figure spiders eat the bugs that are bad for the bromes so it is a good thing. I get an occasional tree frog. I also get the occasional luna moth and sometimes a praying mantis in the house. So far no scorpions. I would freak if I found one of them in the house.

well, here's what I got accomplished today :o) and in just 3 hours! only quit cause DH only bought me 5 bags of cement :( lol!

I am on the list for a hysterectomy....doc said next surgery date was feb or march ... I told him NOW, and any doc and any hospital! :o) a little assertive and the horns popped out of my scull again! teehee!

now, I am calling him every other day..... asking when my surgery is :oD I think it will be soon...as I can be very pesky and very persistant! LOLOL!

now the funny part...he tells me he suggests that I have my ovaries removed too...cause there is a 1 or 2 % chance they will have to go back in and take them out anyhow....I looked him square in the face and said..."oh, well, geez, I'm a smoker and there is probably a 90% chance that I will get lung cancer...should we take my lungs out too?! then I promptly told him I will only consent to a partial hysterectomy :oD with a big ole smile on my face! I am begining to hate docs! lol!

as for my son, we found out he is diabetic, and also paranoid schitzophrentic. his insulun was low so that was what ws creating the stroke like symptoms, that and the mental inbalance.... they are stabalizing him now, but he is at a county hospital and they could kick him out at any time. so I've converted my greenhouse :( into a studio apartment for him to come home to. I'll keep you all updated when I can. wont get to post much here cause I'm trying to get everything done before they call me in for my surgery!

here's todays progress...oh, and my 6'9" stepson did all the heavy lifting :oD I love having big guys around! lol!

Anjl, how funny! I have the same exact mold and a huge dirt area out my back porch that I'm going to do the same thing with in the spring! LOL! Great minds think alike ;) Actually, I saw some other lady on DG that had done the same thing and I already had the mold. Did you use KwikCrete, and how many did you say you got out of 5 bags of cement?

My doctor told me when I had my hysterectomy that women that leave their ovaries in have a chance of getting ovarian cancer and something about it being hard to detect until it might be too late, so I got the old ovaries out too. He told me that's what he would want his own wife to do, so I went with his advice. Personal choice, of course. Sorry to hear more about your son's illness, but diagnosis is at least half of the cure. Now it can be treated and his (and your) life will be better. Praying for you girl...

I got my baby tonight! Jerry and I drove to Dallas and picked her up....Cutie Patootie, but Raynee and Maddy are not real sure of her, awfully jealous! She is a sweet-heart though, and we fell in love with her on sight.

AnnMarie, glad to hear your going to get your srgery. You just keep those horns sticking out, and demand that you get what you want, and need! My Dr told me back in 1990, that I needed my ovaries out also, because I would most likey have to have them out in 10 years. Well, here we are almost 20 years later, and I still have my ovaries. If you have them out, you will have to take hormone treatments!!
I love that patio, it is going to look really nice.

LK, I don't take hormones....maybe that's what's wrong with me, LOL! Actually, I did for about a year but they didn't seem to make much difference, with ME. I know they do for alot of women....In any case Anjl, you just make the best decision for you! I sure don't want or intend to influence you in any way....We're all different, just sharing what I did since we were on the subject, I guess...

I haven't decided on a name yet.....She was named "Daisy" by the pound, but I don't care for that....Maybe Macy....I had Lily, Maddy, and Raynee so I do like the "y" ending to match. Hubby said I always name 'em too soon, but he'll go with whatever I want in the end, LOL! Have a great night everyone!

Keep the ovaries as long as possible. There is no sense making your life miserable with menopause any sooner than necessary.

lol kathy, that was my thought and my poor DH is agreeing :oD teehee!

I used 80 lb bags and they were NOT the kwikrete....cant remember the brand name, but the brand doesnt matter! just buy cheap. those 5 80lb bags covered 14 sq feet....I may have been able to get 16 sq ft, but didint want to push it with the leftover cement...so we used the left over to fill in the retaining wall for our veggie garden (thats where all our leftover cement from projects winds up...someday those cynder blocks will all be filled! LOL!

in the front yard, I am doing the same mold for a 5 ft wide walkway along our driveway and up to our front door. for that we WILLuse the kwikrete 5000 because we will be driving on that area when we wash our cars or unload the truck for more work in the back yard! :oD but if its for just stepping stones, cheap concrete will work .

k, gotta get some sleep so I can call that doc first thing in the AM! teehee!

Remmeber one year when my son was young and we had pups he went through and named em all with the letter "S" for some reason. Maybe that was the leter in school he ws working on or something but it got confusing for awhile.

Anjil.. Your walkway is looking great there. Gonna be real pretty when it is finished.

I had a tubaligation in my 30's. kept the ovaries. not about 7 years later til this day have suffered with hot flashes and night sweats. Wish I could have meds to stop em. Makes life miserable without em. Covers on ..covers off. clothes on clothes off. My bodys feel like a microwave that has never stopped being used day in and day out. Sure hoping one day the symptoms stop. Over the years have tried everythign generic on th emarkets and nothing works.

Checked on my brugs yesterday in th egh. The bottom leaves are getting a bit yellow. Wonder if I should giv ethem some more miracle grow or if it normal to lose some of the bottom leaves durign the winter season. Got some I still need to pot up. Wish I was an ocotpus or had a dozen clones right now.

anjl... I'd keep the ovaries especially if you have osteoporosis in your family... I let the Dr take it all when I was 38.... took the pills or patch for 5 years and was a nervous wreak the whole time! Now I have osteoporosis. Course what is best for you is what you need to do!! Hope your son can get better since y'all now know what the problems are! NICE walkway!!

Hello my DG friends! So sorry I went MIA.. seems I don't get on the computer as much since I'm not working.. I've been busy with holiday stuff and trying to adjust and get into a new routine. It's nice to come here and see everyone's posts and I have to admit, I haven't taken time to read everything I've missed. Congrats to Karen and her new family member and AnjL, I'm SO happy they found out your son's problem.. what a dear to give up your plant room. (love that new walkway).. wanted to tell you ladies', I take Mexican Yam Root for hormone replacement.. natural and unmarketable by drug companies or the medical profession as it is an herb, so they can't make money on it, and it is not prescribed or offered to us. Mmm Ella, cinnamon waffles! YUM. I'll be making my traditional cut-out cookies and party mix, and a few other goodies.. I'll stop back in here soon, but for now I've got empty ornament boxes to take back downstairs and light strings to check... oh, and the next segment of my life to plan and implement ;) Merry Christmas greetings to all!

1Anjl, are you aware that you can get your son on disabilty. Just go to the social security office and file a claim, because of his paranoid schitzophrentic. You should be able to get him on disability, and possibly medicare? It won't hurt to give it a try.
