Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday, dear Audrey! HUGS! Hope you have a wonderful, joyful birthday today. Peg

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I talked to Anjl last night, she was busy packing coop glove orders and also her ornaments for shipping...Her husband was going to help with all the packing and do the mailing for her.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

OH MY.. sorry Audrey... Happy Birthday to you from me too!! Hope your day was wonderful.. and I am glad to know you are only 39!! YAY!!

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Karen.. You shouldn't be peeking. : ) hehehehe You not gonna have an surprises for Christmas Day.

I'm a peeker too. Will go crazy til I see what under the wrap.

Thanks for the popcorn ball recipe, forgot to tell ya thanks the other day. Do ya think I can use microwave popcorn? If I pick all the icky kernnels out.

I have been having visions of tryign to make them and them turning into rock hard balls that little league baseball kids will be using for spring practice. LOL

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure, you can use microwave popcorn Ella! The "old fashioned" recipe I gave you makes a little bit "crispier" ball than the other 2 recipes, but they are all good.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

TY for the BD wishes! Had a great one! We had a very nice Thanksgiving, with waaay to much food! I made a huge iron skillet of candied sweet potatoes, we ate the last of them tonight! Turkey, ham, greenbean casserole, broccolli casserole, cheezy potatoes, English pea salad, dressing, goblet gracy, cranberry sauce. Chess squares, cocoanut cake, andmaple bundt cake. Deviled eggs and 2 kinds of rolls. Boy, I'm still full! Going home tomorrow!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Audrey, I ate a piece of choclate birthday cake for you.. also .. I am glad I am not the only one who loves sweet potatoes..:)

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Celia you kept quiet, but Happy Birthday to you too. You got your DD and a birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day! Peg

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Good Morning! Where has the week gone? Can't belive it a saturday again already. A raining one for sure. been raining since yesterdya afternoon and wil rain all day and until tommorrow then with hittign the 20's tommorrow night again : ( , everything will be ice.

Hope ya all can handle some instant generic coffee this morning. Forgot to pick up some at store yesterday. ( hangs head) It hot and not too terribly bad, when your coffee-holic anything tastes good when your out of the regular stuff. Got a bunch of flavored creams , so maybe that will help ya all chug it down.

To go along with generic coffee got pizza flavored potato chips from pringles. They pretty good, so help yourself. it either that or just plain toast and jelly this morning. I really need to get to store this morning.

Hope everybody is feeling better, it rough when your hurting. For those traveling back home, I hope your journey is as peaceful and uneventful as it was when ya left and you all get home back safe and sound.

Karen.... Thanks! : ) Glad yoru having fun with your gang. Gonna give the micro a try. Even listening for for the kernnels to stop popping and checking and lots of shaking, I usually manage to burn some of the popcorn and there nothing worst tasting than burnt popcorn.

Anybody do like cookie bakign for the holidays? When I was younger there was this woman next door that used to make the most delicious goodies. My favorite was this one that was like some sort of litle square of pastry and it had like aprioct filling and other fruit filling down th ecenter of it, then she would take two corners of the pastry, hook those corners over the center of the fruit and bake and the dust with a tiny bit of powder sugar . I'd love to find out what they were called. I sitting here and my mind can see the plate full of them and still remember how good they was. I've gone back through my grannies and great granny old cook books and cookie books, but have never found the receipe.

Hope everybody has a super day! : )

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Morning ALL!!

Ella.... guess it's just you and me for now... must have a lot of sleepyheads.. pulling my stunts!!..lol Ty for the coffee... that toast will sound mighty fine after while...

Peg... ty for letting us know!!
Celia... Happy Birthday!!!!
Debra... I was going to say I love them too, and I bet just the way Audrey makes them
Audrey... you had a typical TN T'Day. That is just about what we always made in TN... except the sweet potatoes.. now that is all TX..lol.. and the way I love them! All that gooey butter and sugar???...mmmmnn

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Either that or everybody off to the store for sales. I was actually surprised yesterday that the stopres this year really don't have alot to offer or selctions. Maybe with economy slow, they cut back on their inventory, but it hard to not have several choices of things to chose from. Maybe I just spoiled somewhat.

Got a feeling that by the time the last minute shoppers get out their which generally is me, there won't be anythign left.

I gues I weird, shop early I like choices, shop lat and I take whats left and don't play ping pong in my mind wondering if I made the right choice or not.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Ella... I used to do the 3 am thing for many years and loved it, but now I just give money.. that way actually they can take it after Christmas and get twice as much anyway! All our kids live off, so it's almost impossible to get together for Christmas anyway... we are supposed to go to TN this Christmas, but with Lyle having the pain pump, and me having the cervical surgery on the 9th, I just don't see how i will be able to make that 12 1/2 hour trip that soon... so it may just be me and Momma this year for Christmas if Lyle goes ahead..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Becky, please explain the cervical surgery. I guess I missed something?
Prayers coming your way for your surgery and hope all goes well.

Just seen on the homepage. Happy Birthday Kiwanjin!!!!!!

( Sorry) I still don't have everybodys first names memorized.

Oh man becky. You both , you and hubby, gonna be in a lot of pain and misey.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Linda Kay.... I have a huge herniated disk at C-5, the Dr is having to take the whole disk out and put the plate and screw thing in . I also have 2 bone spurs he has to remove. That is why I kept telling the DR ..please... forget the 2 herniated disks he was treating me for in the lumbar area.. they weren't bothering me..lol... course I imagine after I get over the surgery the lumbar disks will start giving me fits..LOL And lyle is going back this Wednesday to have the permanent pain pump put in

(Zone 7a)

Thank you, everyone! She got here safely and we went shopping. And I already got my gifts from my fine friends here! Thanks!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone, actually it will be afternoon by the time I over typing this.
Starlight I will go over my old cookbooks and see what I can find. I kind of collect old cookbooks that organizations put out. Ones with family receipes. Love those. For several years we have a cookie exchange.....we get to try all kinds of different stuff. Some good some well you probably wouldn't try again...LOL My favorites are Russian tea cookies. Little flaky white balls with chopped pecans inside and rolled in powered sugar....love those. I have a great banana bread receipe that came out of a really old cookbook that has sour cream it in. Always moist and wonderful. Also for those wo don't do pie crust I have a pat in a pan pie crust from an Amish cookbook. Works really well, easy, and clean up is a snap! When I get flour on the countertop it ends up looking like a flour explosion when I get done...LOL

Safe traveling today and tomorrow.
Here me sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU......ok enough punishment...LOL

Gonna start decorating today....love Christmas....it is so fun and now we have a 2 year old GD it is going to be even better! Hope to be done by tomorrow. I decorate everything but our bedroom only because I can't find a bedspread I like.

I was out shopping at 4am Friday, everyone was really nice and not crazy, maybe has to do with the midwest. Got a lot of good buys. While I can still afford it I buy for all of my family and all of DH's family only 3 in his family tho. I don't go near a Best Buy any more tho, but I now hear they have the guys much more manageable, than the first year I went. Since most of the shoppers at Best Buy that year were guys, it was more like tackle football and only being 5ft 4in., it was not pretty!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Kwanjin. Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuu...*ahem* I am so glad to see you all here.. happy birthdays are so much fun!

I had to work today, didn't go anywhere but into my basement garden yesterday.. I lost two seedlings of putple blizzards mgs, so I am pouting.. have TWO seedlings up from seedprouts seeds.. Rublinexmissbhavin, have no clue what they will do.. potted up most of my rooted cuttings, down to ONE bubbler tub for the Brug trees, picked up 10 huge pots at the flea market today for 8 dollars, got a package of 100 plastic 2x2s' ziplock baggies for a dollar, been sorting seeds out for 24 hours almost LOL I had trays of dead heads all over the house and garage what a mess! Found my SNOWBANKS this am, I forgot I had it.. it is doing okay.. it is in a pot behind some other plants down here, guess it has been getting the over spray of Kens Mix for a month now.. sheese! Got to see my furgranbabies Oona and Lincoln, and my two DDs' Rose and Joanna today, made up some oatmeal raisen cookies with pecans and coconut mixed in for me and my DS, made up a pan of Ziti Pasta, cooked a potroast with trimmings, and made a pot of chili yesterday so no more cooking for me this weekend.. YAY!

(Zone 7a)

Well, DD is gone now. She left about an hour ago. I miss her already! Waaaa!!!

Anyway, she took, me shopping and out for dinner. We had most wonderful day!

And my new brugs are putting out nice leaves.

Heber Springs, AR

Hello Everyone,
This is my first day here and I hope to join in on ur group. My name is Bob, but I answer to almost anything.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Hello WEREWOLF1! I got your letter "JIM" for the plants I sent you. Don't worry about sending postage back.

You once called me rude for making a remark about grits. I forgave you that remark and sent you some brugs as I am not perfect and always try to forgive others.

This makes what about the fifth time you have tried to sneak in under the wire.

What you say about me, I don't care. But even though I don't know Karen and Aunt B and the Beckies and all the other ladies and gents very well yet, on this forum doesn't mean I don't care about them.

It is one thing for me to be a fool and be used, I forgive you that, but I absolutely refuse to allow you to use other good folks not only on this forum but other forums.

You will not abuse the goodness of these folks hearts and plants again.
Say goodbye to them, because I have no patience for fraudulnt people like you and am reporting you to Admid.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh no, what happened to you starlight?

Hey Bob, Welcome to the insane world of the brug collectors!!!

Please pull up a chair, and tell us about yourself, including any pictures you may have of your brugs.
If you have any questions, you can post them here as well.

These are my latest brugs to bloom, When they opened last week, they stayed yellow for a few days, then they turned this beautiful orange color, and they smell like a honeysuckle! SO sweet!

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Sorry, LindaKay and other good brug folks here I call my friend.

Bob Grimes is Werewolf1, Jim and was removed from DG. That is why I blasted him in the above post. He is not who he says he is.

I have no time for folks that are lying and out and out deceiving good folks here.

If he wants to be apart of the group and a part of DG, then he needs to be upfront and honest with the folks here and Admid. If there was a problem , then he needs to discuss it with Admid and be who he really says he is.

He needs to come in the front door not sneaking in the back. I not one to hold grudges , cuz I sure not perfect. If Admid lets him in legally then I will be glad to talk and chat to him.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I thought I would be going into withdrawel without DG for a couple days. I so enjoy reading all the posts and pictures are wonderful. My two big brugs outside are really holy (leaves that is) and I'm forever searching for those nasty green worms. My rooted ones in the house are doing good, and the day I do gets some blooms I'll have the camera ready and waiting.

Star, I'm sorry for what has happened to you, even though I don't know what it is. This is supposed to be a happy place for everyone.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Pegi... I am sorry too having to say something. I debated and debated , but in good concious cannot let what I know slide on by. If you want to know , you will have to ask admid. Not my story to tell. Made the references I did, so that he would know I know it is him pretending to be somebody else. My blast is for protection of others hurt in the past and those that may be hurt in the present.

I hope to see your pics. Not sure where everybody is at today. Had to eat a tv dinner for breakfast cuz nobody had any offered up this morning. ; )

Heber Springs, AR

well, it seems starlight has a grudge against me for critizing her for downing grits. yes i did say something to her about what she said but nothing like what i have seen that was said by other ppl at other times,
yes, i am werewolf. but let me expain before u take sides. my daughter, kim moody, did something wrong here on daves garden. i don't know what it was. we are seperate families, she lives in one place, and i in another, yet admin says the blood was too close and they banned me, i pleaded with them to reinstate me several times and they refused. they could not give ge anyother reason for banning me. and yes i did try several times to rejoin, but never managed too. so starlight, u have accomplished what u set out to do. this is the best club i have ever been in and i love all here, but one, and u know who that is don't u starlight?

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Did I miss something somewhere? I don't recall Werewolf being overly rude... at least not memorably... we all have our moments... as for me, I can be and not even know it.. I don't intend to... anyway...

I am beginning to move into the world of the living... have the strength to keep the laptop on my lap now.. been sick since last sunday... have tried to keep up reading as I can. My main computer is on the fritz.

Most of my cuttings are doing great. I was a real beggar for cuttings since my brugs this year were so devistated by mites and drought ...and did everyone respond! I even bought a few from the co op and all of those are growing as well. Many of my sticks made it into cups of moss before I got sick and have new leaves growing.. am using the recipe spray on them.. they are looking great. I have a mini brug forrest growing. Still have a bunch of cuttings in two easter bucket bubblers needing to be put into moss... good roots growing but I got sick and just can't do it. I am running out of space on the table to place the cups! Never thought that would happen!

I cut back our three in the ground when the cold front came through and stuck them in buckets... got sick so they are still in the buckets.. not looking well. Hopefully I will be able to pull some of them through. In the spring if some survive... I will offer rooted survivors to those of you who still need starts. I sure don't need that many brugs! LOL

I got my ornaments off in the mail on Wednesday...or was it Friday...can't remember those days well... dad took them for me when he brought my medicine...must have been friday. OK...fingers tired, this has been the most I have done in 6 days! I am here ... watching and reading.

Heber Springs, AR

ty lashalover. I don't think anyone on the site can say truthfully that I have been rude or hateful to them in anyway. oh yes, i forgot, starlight does. but in all truthfullness, I don't think what I said to her was hurtful. would everyone respond to my post please and let me know if u think I was awful. tyvm

Hello to all i'm back!! Aways some excitment here : I Hope the problem can we worked out...

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Werewolf.. It has nothign to do with what ya said about some grits months ago. If I had been so offended by your remarks, I never would have sent you plants. I most certainly am not that shallow of a person.

I found out about your removal when I tried to answer you back from your thank you letter and wasn't able to send you a dmail and asked what removed meant.

After finding out your had been removed, I even went so far as to ask another brug person to send you an email from me to your email addy telling you the plants were a gift. I don't hold grudges. I don't like deception and that what I not happy about.

If you talk to admid and thet let you stay, and you ask for plants again, have no problem sending them, but be who you really are and not some other person from the white pages.

I did not get you removed from Dg . I found out about your removal after the fact.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

We all get our feelings hurt at one time or another.. part of being a family.. we get too close sometimes.. it happens... it is the price we pay for being close.. you can't be hurt if you aren't close. So, family, pull together and enjoy the upcoming holidays please. I too have been hurt.. I go off into my corner for a while until I am ready to come out and play nice. No reason to spoil everyones fun just because my feelings were hurt. We are adults here.

As for grits... personally, I can't stand them but my father loves them...

I have known some DG'ers who have been removed due to misunderstandings...please.. let's not start another one.

robertgrimes was just banned by Admin once more. He has had multiple aliases, and has been the center of several bad experiences here at DG.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

I know many of you probably are very upset with me right now, and if you don't want to talk with me. I fully understand.

I just want to make it clear that I had no personal grudges against werewolf. Because of his many alias and knowing of how he hurt others, I could not in all good concienous let it happen to another person.

Dg is a place where we all should feel free to relax, laugh and share. I would not be a friend, nor able to sleep at night knowign that you all ways thinkign you was talking to one person, when actuality you were talking to someone banned many times before.

I hope that you can forgive me for havign to bring it out in the open on the thread, but I needed a way to make sure I had the right person. Again I apologize for seeming rude and

I made coffee and am holding out a cup to all of you in friendship. I leave it to you to accept or decline it. (____)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Well Well.. the saga continues... for this thread... I "knew " from the beginning something wasn't right with wolfie.... but for the most part kept quiet, but truthfully, admin is NOT going to remove someone from dg just because a family member did something wrong. I was lurking on a thread somewhere, and this guy was being blasted by many dgers... I only scanned it, so I can't say what "he" did, but there were many that wasn't happy with "him". I had the gut feeling wolfie was the same man... but I don't know to the day if it was him. I am glad admin lurks and tries to keep the website safe from all sorts of people!! TY Melody!! I applaud you!

Tammy.. I am soo sorry you have been sick.. I hope you will continue to gain strength... girl, I have been a real begger also, but after they were offered. I am in a mess I have sooo many now.. but I guarantee I NEED MORE
Ella... TY SO MUCH for standing up for all of us!! WTG!! IF you get any repercussions from what you said, then there are others here that don't understand that all it takes is one person to mess up the whole thread... website
Kim... soo glad you are back.. been missing all the wonderful smells from your kitchen..lol
Linda Kay... beautiful brug!!
Pegi.. we'll be saying congrats to you before long... patience my friend.. lol.. or that was what I have been told many times!!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Ella... I will have TWO cups.. my sweet friend!!

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

I accept it star. I don't know what the problem is and I don't care. It's none of my business. If Admin says he's been the "center of many bad experiences" then I trust their judgement. I come to this site to learn from others and hopefully share my growing experiences with others. I have gained so much from everyone about growing all kinds of plants.

If it hadn't been for Bonnie, a Becky on the mg forum, Debra for her mg seeds, David in Jacksonville and others, all dgers, I wouldn't have the selection plants I have now. I have learned how to germinate seed, make cuttings, root cuttings, and overwinter brugs. I have met some very nice people at Dave's.

I'm ready now to start sharing the Christmas season with my newly found gardening friends. :-)
