She's About To.............#38 - Brug Addicts Chat

My DSD and Her DH brough us a small load of wood the other day...
Too big to put in the furnance..The DH split what wasn't covered..
but this am I uncovered some more and split it...LOL
He'll be mad when he gets home...LOL
Some pieces are too hard for me to do and it also depends on the kind of wood
so I leave them pieces...But when it's zero out they all split easy...
But if I can split them... I do.....

I figure the more I keep doing the more I will always be able to do. At 57 I worry about losing abilities and I never want to be in a position where I can no longer live out here in the sticks on my own.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Kathy, wait until you meet JBerger, Jacquie, that posts here....well, she was on this morning. She runs a Christmas tree farm, and is 80 years old and works harder than probably any of us. She is amazing!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon ladies, and gents!
I have a question for you all. How long are the blooms supposed to get. My first one is 11&1/2 inches long. Not complaining, just wondering if that is normal?

Oh, I got the greatest things in the mail today. I ordered some Impress-O-Tags to tag my Brugs with and they are incredible!!!!!!!!!! Couldn't be more perfect for the job. Use a ball point pen to "write" on the metal tag, hangs with wire. I did find that the white tree tags I bought were unusable on the larger cuttings, they wouldn't fit. These fit on any size! They are cheap, but if you buy from the website you have to buy in bulk. I wish someone brave would host a coop on these.

I bought 100 on Ebay for about $13.00

I also want to share with you a page of photos of Brugmansia's from a garden group in Germany I think....Not sure, I believe the language is maybe Dutch. Anyway, they are a group of Brug lovers just like us, and you will not believe the colors and sizes of the Brugs in their gardens and houses, not to mention the colors. The landscaping of their yards is brilliant also. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing it. I used Google translate to read in English and was amused, they are just like us, in awe of the awesome Brugs!

Kathy. that me. the body may be older, but the mind stuck in the twenties age group. Will just keep going and keep kicking.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Karen.. tried to go to the link up above, but couldn't never get the page to load. just showed the name of the Brug on th etop of the page and the green background.

Eunice, MO(Zone 5b)

Karen, I am strapped for cash until January with the layoff but when I go back to work I plan on hosting a co-op for those tags if no one else is at the time. I drooled over those tags last week at the website.
I have no desire to work hard enough to be called amazing lol. I do work hard enough to keep working, though.

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

I just got in from the greenhouse, tagging all my Bruggies with the Imprint-O-Tags, my do I ever like them. I think I'm hooked. Becky I need to be slapped with the wet noodles I guess to keep me away from Ebay doggone it! When I get bored, I look at Ebay. Mistake!!!! Danger Will Robinson!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

hehe, I'm watching House too, too bad it's a RERUN! I get so aggravated by those! Yes, I know dear Deb, Ebay will be the death of me yet. My husband always says "If you don't go looking then you don't see anything you want to buy!" And sadly, you know how badly I hate to say this. ****sigh**** He's right...LOL! (I'll never admit that to him though, *wink*

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Karen... If I get the wet noodles out for you... I will have to whip myself first..lol... for some reason I blame you that that hyperlink led me to Monikas webite... to Ebay... and to the brugs one I bid on!!..LOL... I swear I need to be shot..lol

Lu... wow that one is gorgeous!! Soo healthy too!!
Kathy... I feel the same way.. I'm almost 57 and living in the country, and hopefully I'll die here, cause I'd surely die having to go back to the city!!
Debra.. TY for the prayers!! I know what you mean .. everyone is having hard times, and i don't see anything getting better for a long time.. we just have to try and hang in and believe there are better times again!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

NO.. we aren't alone... the views attest to that!!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

hehe, the lurker numbers are incredible here! Do the views count also if it's the same people lurking, or only once? In any event, somebody is interested in us! And who could blame them, we are so wonderful, LOL!

Morning Sunshines ^_^

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

Mornin Kim☼

Phyllis, the Brug is Aurea Pink, I edited this message to get the right name after surfing #29 thread. It was fun to reread all the posting there☺

There is a thin coating of snow outside here this morning. Yesterday I was cold all day but then as the day went by I started getting acclimated. If it wasn't for fuel costs, there is nothing I enjoy more than bundling up and trudging around outside by the pond☺I guess I will go wake up Jim NOW for coffee☺

Morning!

Cold here too, coffee ready and have hot chocolate and some hot tea, so take your pic.

Phyliss... can ya have your DD detour that bulldozer across some cyber space pages and come clear part of my yard for me?

Sure would beat using a pic ax and shovel and only being able to do a couple feet at a time.

Lot to do today and not enough hours til dark, so will catch everybody later : )

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

morning everyone . karen thanks for checking up on me . my dh works on a river boat .hes home fo r28 and gone for 28 . when hes here i dont post as much . we try to have as much fun as we can . it is getting sadder every time he leaves because as we get older and work out our marriage we argue less and less over stupid things . he goes back on wed. we are also nervous because he has a captain who is verbally abusive, i guess you could say, and he requested to be moved to another boat . he has to do his call in today and find out where hes going .
its kinda cold here . im getting sadd syndrome already . every winter i bug dh to move to fl . he says its weird that im from ny and i cant stand the cold . i was like well for one i didnt garden there , and second its been 8 yrs. im acclimated to here now lol . i m still waiting for the leaves to fall in my back yard so i can rake and mound my roses with the leaves . my thoughts are with everyone who isnt feeling well .

Morning all,

Karen thank you for posting on the ornaments. I have been working like a little elf on the 23 of December on the ornaments, but I am going to need to the weekend to finish. Actually I just need Saturday to finish but I can't mail on Sunday so.....I will mail first thing Monday morning, I am sorry.

Work has just gotten in my way....darn work....actually shouldn't complain since so many peoples jobs are hanging on a thread.

Just have a sec and I haven't even been able to lurk so I am really behind on what all is going on. Hope everyone is doing well.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Good morning all! I slept in a little this morning, it felt good! LK I think you have a Pink Velvet....Look at the attached picture of mine and see if they don't look identical! Not much on the agenda this morning but some inside yard work...A hill of clean clothes the size of Mt. Rushmore awaits me! Guess I'll try to find a good old movie and watch while I "rake", LOL! Can't say that bad word that starts with an H or Becky will have the wet noodles out again, haha!

Karen, that is so pretty, and yes they do look the same! Thanks for the name.
I am leaving for my foot surgery in the morning. You all behave yourself while I am gone. I will be back in a day or so.
LK

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Glad to help LK, mine was NOID too until someone identified it for me........Hope everything goes well for you during your surgery sweetie, we will all think of you and keep you in our prayers. Come home to us as soon as you can, and you can forget about asking us to behave ourselves, hehehe! Love to you!

(Zone 7a)

Eunice, MO(Zone 5b)

Morning everyone. I can tell you it was hard to get out of the warm covers this AM. I got a fire in the stove real quick! Yesterdays warm weather and sunshine went to go visit someone else today. I hope that they appreciate it as much as I did yesterday. Brrrrrr

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey hey hey! How has your day gone HBA'S? Beautiful day here, 73 but we have another cold front rolling in. I have just about carved the clothing Mt. Rushmore down into a small pyramid, LOL...Oops, meant leaves, not clothes....no spankings Becky!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Hello KarenBeen lurking on a off all day...
It's been really quiet here lately..
Guess people are just lurking waiting for the fun and people to show back up here again...
Where is everyone...??
Was sick this morning so I went back to bed after the dh left
Got up and started on some yardwork i've been putting off all summer...LOL
Got a big dent put into the 3 rooms but i'm not done yet...

Eunice, MO(Zone 5b)

Yes to the Brrrrrrr I have been going in and out and bringing up wood. Heavy clouds and strong winds out there. There is no snow expected here right now but I never believe the weather liars. I have shoveled tons of "flurries".

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)
