FOR VIEWING ONLY...photo's as we progress with Vict.Santa's

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I tried the hot glue on the red one, and boy was that hard to gather the sleeves, with glue on it like that! It was just too bulky. Next one will be sewn.
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I do the hemming and gathering with a needle and thread......attach everything else with Fabritac....it doesn't get as hard as the hot glue...but once dry there is not getting it loose.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I gather the sleeves (both top and bottom as well as the top front and back with heavy guage thread..once the thread has been pulled on the sleeves I invert them so I can see the raw edges of the hand, put some glue around the hand just incase my thread breaks over the years, pull the sleeve back up and gentle press folds into the glue...not thick at all...natural for that much gathering to seem heavy...

Here is the fabric for the next one...........

Betty, please don't get sick on us. Sounds like you are getting a chill, from your sinking in the snowbank the other day?
Get a cup of something warm, and snuggle up. Get some rest too.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Beautiful Santas! I need to learn how to put all of them together in one photo! It may take me till next summer, but I will finish all of mine!
I'm having a bad bout of depression right now, but I'll get over it!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I still have a lot of them to do too Audrey.....
I have several bouts with depression this time of year....hope yours goes away soon((((HUGS)))

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

gee if we were closer I would say we could all go tanning depressed together but I now that isn't always the root of the depression

Victoria Harbour, ON

My heart goes out to you all, it truly is difficult this time of year..always try to keep busy, as soon as a bad thought or memory comes to mind then I just make a point of changing it to a kind thought...hard to do but is do-able...know if I let the memories of these few weeks watching DH die I would be overwhelmed...every morning this week passing the graveyard I've had a little talk with him, know that New years' eve as the clock strikes the New Year I'll remember my wish for him to die because of the pain and remember the how i spent that New years day..doesn't do one to linger and remember these things though...have to find something positive right...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Amen Betty, Very well put. Just remember the good parts of life. Not to dwell on all the negative ones!
If anyone ever wants to call and talk, please d mail me, and I will be glad to send you my phone number if you don't already have it.
Linda Kay

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, but that would take care of two causes of depression; UV light and loneliness.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

yes Laura this is true it would help on both of those reasons and be fun too, cause ya never know how I may act when out....I might be hollerin from the tanning room with something silly and if we were to go to any stores and they have toys or things that make noise with a push of the button I would be pushing buttons so they all would be going off LMAO

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Phyllis, you would probably like the program DH downloaded on his iphone the other day. It's called 'Pull My Finger'. After choosing from a grid of characters, you touch that character and it makes a farting sound. Each character has a different 'type' of fart. It's amazing how a room full of grown ups will pass it around and laugh till they cry (or fart).

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ROFLMAO oh that would be fun I can see the mechanics in the shop having a good time with it

Pacifica, CA

ok girls my dh came up with this idea for our neighbor who is a straight up skin head, he was looking at all the beautiful santa's and said hey what about a skeleton one? ahhhhh i wanted to bury my head in the sand! lol
so my sincere appologies to any of you which may get offended by this,
actually i was scared to post it!
but aftter showing this to a few they said oh go ahead so during the construction of this i had to keep saying its for halloween! lol
now im back to making the proper ones again! now who was talking about making matching mrs clauses? and where did you find the face molds?
once again im sorry if this is offensive.

ROTFL! Liz, talk about creativity! You definitely win the prize! or should your DH receive the award? That's too funny. You did a great job - just as your others. Can't wait to see what you come up with next .............

Pacifica, CA

now im back in my nice world again got some periwinkle/purple color one im working on next got to find blue! thanks for the compliment

Victoria Harbour, ON

So laughing Liz..only you would come up with such a santa...shaking my head here...

I'm going to go through my books, my idea journal and see what I could come up with for a spring project that wouldn't cost much to ship or buy materials..something fun and see if anyone wants to join in???

Fun was had by all (well almost all-lol) with this project...

OMG blizzard outside the office here..we work till 1:00pm and then home for 16 days..although I say no Florida it's a tough choice..still want to get away...must be creative to do so though...we'll see...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, just mention the word craft something, and I will sign up. Sight unseen!

Liz, that one is different. My son would like that one! He is into skulls and stuff to decorate his tattoo shop with.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hmmm

Quite a few ladies express interest in doing a floormatt????

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Sewed a gold tape on the hem of my Santa yesterday, had to rip it out, the fabric stretched. So I glued it on! I bought some flat glitery stockings at $Tree and I'm gonna try them as a gown for a Santa.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Audrey, How you doing today?
You make sure you post some pictures of the Santa.

LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning Audrey..omg that does sound interesting...

was just on a link that I get notification of every month and was browsing...they took a fencepost about as high as our santa's..did the same with the wire (i.e. stappled it for arms) dressed it in a sweater, dollar store knitted hat, decorated...ever so cut..might have to try one, or 2 or three...lol...

Wish I had photo's of all the cute crafts I've done over the years..most are on my old computer...best get my youngest son over and have them installed on my NOW computer...either that or visit family/friends to see what they look like..

Last night when in the back cutting room I saw a 4' pine cut christmas tree that I made a base for, bought one of those drill bits that zinc in as you drill..what if then did with it was added grape vine and had drilled as many holes as I had on small christmas string of lights, plugged it in and what a beautiful victorian type piece..must get it out to show you..raw wood of course, me I don't have one..should though right? maybe I'll do it up for me...so many pieces sitting there just waiting to be done..kept one of most things as patterns...might be the time to go through all and clean all this wood..could give some away to those who have none...might be my weekend projects..might mean wadding through 4' deep snow in my backyard to get grapevine..lol..been there, done that many times...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Liz Love the Santa!!!!! If my son in law sees it will probably become his new screen saver for the season!!!!! It has the a similar theme to one of his Christmas gifts this year....

Glenview, IL

OMG...LIZZZ, Yay way to go with the Santa for Neighbors!

I love it!! It's definatley different but wow, love the accessories.

Smiling big for ya!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Liz, DH loved the Santa, though I think he would have it for a Halloween decoration rather than Christmas. It falls into the category of twisted that always amuses me.

Pacifica, CA

lol thanks everyone!
funny dh keeps starring at it now...
he has a skull shrine in the bedroom now he is thinking of keeping it,
i told him no give it to the neighbors and make their christmas!

betty, floor mat? get a list know one item is kinda expensive we could start to gather things now.
you know i didnt come up with the design lol it was my twisted better half lol
better be careful in case he reads this he he he

trish, lol now you have another project oh the head is a gear knob shifter
and the spike ball on his hat is earings from hot topic's.

linda kay, thats what my neighbor does he'd a tatoo artist works in down town san francisco so this just may end up there lol

Glenview, IL

Liz,
Told you, You should make another for DH...

Betty, Funny thing, I have been thinking of your floor mats!!

Pacifica, CA

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Liz, it will be beautiful, you've cut those squares individually right..OMG Liz, wish I had known, there is such a simple/simple way to do this and the the width you like..shaking my head..you've patience of a saint, but lordy, easy is good too...if you have trouble sewing them together, I'll look up that quilted sweater link...remember how it was done in easy strips???

As for the linoleum, can be easily purchased at a flooring company they have pieces for sale, or if you are doing one as I do for underneath tables etc. for $30.00 an entire 6'x8' piece...then you could make many or just one....

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

oh gorgeous Liz !!!!!

Glenview, IL

Liz, that is going to be wonderful!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
