After cutting the hair gently start pulling it sideways working up and down the length of the hair. There will be a couple of stiff threads in it just pull them out and discard. Hot glue is the way to do it.
2nd annual Christmas Victorian Santa Workshop #6 (2-#4's lol
I'm having problems and questions about the robe, folding and sewing the seam. Looks to me I won't have an opening the way I've got it folded. And then what gets cut 3 1/2"?
OK girls, just got in...little tired..a DG family is in need so found a reason to shop in the toy warehouse most of the afternoon .. head spinning watching Suzanne picking up about everything she saw...lol .. even a few gifts for this family...too much fun..
Then I visit here and some are in trouble...so where do we do from here...
Did you all want me to start from the beginning on a new post meant just for instructions????
Or
Have you all managed to get the outfits done???
Direction please..lol
Deb needs help with her robe and Ladydragon needs help with the hair.
I got my questions answered, thanks. I'm down to trying to do the hair and beard and that will just take working with it. I'm not very creataive with hair! I still need to decide on the finishing touchs; not sure if he is going to carry a tree or presents or what but that is the easy part.
Thanks for the offer...
starting the process..you are better to go slowly in this step...start at top and work down to the bottom of the wave braid, do not try to make the braid to wide all in one step..I do a little and work my way down the braid then start the process all over until the braid is about the width of the santa face beard
oh almost forgot the presents (.99 for a package of around 10) I used in mine came from hobby lobby in the tree trimming section as did the teddy bear...if anyone was interested in finding them to use.
Once you've done the 1" piece, it's placed on the santa head and glued with hot glue..watch those fingers..
what you are trying to achieve is covering the top of his head so that you no longer see where the styro ball and the head I sent you meet (area that you glued together)
I also put mini dabs of glue so that it covers the gray portion of the painted hair ...

Now you've unravelled the 2 long pieces of wave braid right?
Take one of them and glue just under the mouth area..not big gobs of glue just enough that it meets the mouth..
In the photo I just posted I was showing you that I center the unravelled braid, you'll note it's about 1/2 way down his beard on this photo, but you must lift it to directly under the mouth..let me see if I can find another..

you will notice that there are 3 distinct bear divisions..don't worry we'll fix this after...
Also the beard it just tooo long, this is where you will decide the length you want for your own santa...
Once cut I lift the beard that I just glued up out of the way, glue a few of the pieces that I just cut away from the beard pulled the beard back down and gently work the distinct beard openings so that you cannot see where one meets and one ends...
I'm very tired tonight, was just heading off to bed so I doubt this will truly make sense..
Hoping it help you out a little..
In the morning I've more girls coming over, will take closer photo's of the process...they'll be gone by 1:00 so I'll post them then..
SORRY
Looks like every thing is going full tilt!! Mom and I were out shopping most of the day....found some wonderful green velvet........then we found some fabric in a slightly lighter shade green with with flocked evergreen trees that match the velvet perfectly.....begging another 40% coupon for JoAnn's from any of the family or neighbors that may have one......both fabrics are beautiful but NOT inexpensive!!
My second kit is still with the runaway reindeer..........but I have the two small faces from the first kit and all of the other materials......mom and I have tons of wood, wire and over a dozen dowels in the correct size that were going to be thrown out at DH's workplace and he wondered if I could use them for something!
Betty, is the hair the wool or mohair??? White or Optic White???
Finally got Santa done; was an all day job with stops for a few things like eating and another coat of laquer to the quilt rack.
I am posting it on the viewing but it isn't quite done. I like him carring the tree but it should have snow on it, so that means Micheals. I also want a few more things but have to look at him awhile to see just what. I'll post again when he is REALLY done.
Thanks for all the help, Betty. Couldn't have done it without you.
Morning all..Janice Santa is looking mighty fine..love the tree and yes you need snow...
One thing I sure wish you all had and can be picked up at Michaels is the diamond dust found in the candle making area..omg 1 little bag which is around $3.98 can do 100 santa's but I use it on so many things..ie. christmas flowers, ornaments that look drab etc.etc. and then often at the dollar store are bags of flake glittering snow..with glue gun I place on neck wreath or whatever your decoration is and add some falkes..
The diamond dust, few sprinles, can't see it but just in the right light he's stunning..
Look forward to the finishing touches Janice..thanks for posting on the View Only thread
zhinusmom...Did you find your Joann's coupon? If not, I have one or two extras that I can send. I always keep them, but never use them all. Let me know and I will get them in the mail on Monday.
hey Bj where did ya find the instructions for the purses you made ...am thinking of some gifts and thought those might be quick and easy
Janice love the Santa, all you need is to fatten him up a bit, I read that someone used tissue paper, and I used a few plastic wal mart bags! Pretty easy!
Can't wait for the work shop to do my second one.
Betty, when did you say the workshop is please?

BJ I'm thinking in the morning at 11:00 EST.
Yes, that way it's still early morning for most of you...
Shuggins did get one but thanks for the offer!

LK
thanks for the time tater i always get mixed up lol
Are we talking about Sunday Tomorrow or ??????
Thought I would pop up a picture of the fabric I got to do the second Santa.....the velvet for the gown and and green with gold and green trees for the shawl......I have been getting so many ideas lately!......now if I can just get the time to go with them! Thought we would just run up to JoAnns and pick up the tree fabric.....how silly of us!!! They were having their sale today.... grabbed the fabric and a number....it took 45 minutes to get to the cutting table!!!! Then it was almost half an hour to get through the check out.....if I didn't have my heart set on this particular fabric (and only a small amount left) I would have just packed it in and gone home!! Now I just hope the results are worth the wait!
ugh! I missed a joannes fabric sale! grrr!
I have one all cut out and sewn, but I got confused on the gown.....so maybe someone can help me :o)
do we gather the edges of where the sleeves go?
and ...when we gather the neckline, do we include the armhole tops too...so it is one gather around the entire to front and back? or gather each (front and back)separately?
Morning...up early baking an applesauce cake to go with our coffee...
Anjl..once you fold the skirt piece to form the circle..remember you are sewing the two short ends together..if you are using 45" width material, once sewn it should be about 22 1/2 inches
with the seam put to the middle of the back piece, I cut down approx 3 or 4 " on each upper side where the sleeves will eventually be inserted...
Just so I do not have rough edge where the sleeves are inserted I fold in about 1/4 inch..this fold will almost look like a 'v' when sewn...really if just forms a little taper
Then I sew a 1/4 inch helmline on the bottom of the skirt..let me see if I can find photo that I previously posted..
