How did you make out Linda Kay at the Dr.'s...

No I didn't, will do now..keep putting it off because I don't do them well..lol

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Look at those cute little boots! Great job, Judy. Nice added touch! Did you paint the base and glitter it? It looks nice.

Phyllis, the snow white fur next to the deep purple color is beautiful. Your friend is one lucky lady!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Everything is fine, I got a new script for new pain pills. Old joints, don't like this change in weather too well. I am so glad I am not back in my old home town in Michigan. That cold would be so bad!!!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

You ladies are presenting such fabulous looking Santas. I want everyone of them here at my house. I'm still trying to figure out how to decorate mine. Such cute boots and the trims, the purples and the furs. I love it all.

Linda I hope the doc said everything is all right. When is your next foot surgery?

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!!
Thank you...having a ball.

LOL, little story Trisha.
Well, not sure how but my robe seemed to be a tiny bit short.
Betty had mentioned removing the dowel and cutting it down.
I concidered doing that too, But I was chatting with Deborah talking about it
lol, and decided i was too chicken to do that so Jokingly, said well maybe i'll just give him some boots to "hide" the error. Wahla, lol scratched my head on how to achive this. Boots at craft store are too expensive!! So my boots are painted styrophone balls that was cut down, and painted black...
Got to say I am really glad the illusion worked!!

Phylis, Forgot to say Happy Birthday to Ms V. I am sure she is going to adore him.
let us know please.

LOL, Liz...The hat dervived from the first sleeve, the original cut shawl was too small....Got to just love practice pieces...ahem, put smokes down and start sewing...ROFLOL, sorry just couldn't resist.

Deborah, those butterflies are from excitment. you can do it...Looking forward to seeing your santa too, lol want some coffee to help you get started? Remeber its all just straight lines, you'll do awsom.

Everyone working on one now big smile for you to have a ball, can't wait to see your creations...

yep Betty so much creativity with this workshop...Thank you for the inspiration and knowledge. You are the Best!!

Tater good to see you back.

Debra, I am guessing that the strophone under paint give them a glittering look, lol i didn't eve notice that!

Thanks again everyone!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

glad things are ok health wise LindaKay..talking about Michigan weather..well I'll shortly know as ours is much the same..do wish I were in Texas with you all or even California or Florida and maybe Georgian..lordy, why don't I quit work and spend a few weeks with each of you in the USA..lol come back when the snow leaves...sounds like a plan to me!

Robyn...yep, so enjoy looking at the VIEW ONLY thread..

1/2 hr. nd I'm off..in the meantime back to painting santa faces...was enjoying them but, lol..starting to wear thin my love of them..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, do you have any of that sparkle dust I sent you for the sleigh last year..you'd be amazed at how beautiful an odd sparkle in his hair and robe is...also the larger flakes I sent, bit of glue on the staff or ornament, few drops and WOW/WOW

Glenview, IL

Oh yes Betty, and i was thinking to put the large flakes on the base, so glad you reminded me...Will remember the dust too.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Boy, Betty am I glad you are just a computer away. I seem to be missing something here...
I have my stand put together, wrapped, face on.

I have the robe done and gathered at the top. Now what?
The sleeves are done, but should they be gathered at the bottom; gathered at the top; both? How attached to the top under/over the robe?
Hood just gets drapped over the top of his head?
Beard and hair? Is there a trick to this?
Obviously I am a santa illiterate and can't figure this out on my own. So, HELP!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Do we cut out 2 pieces for the sleeves or are we cutting one in half?

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I think Betty has already left work for the day. Gather the sleeves at the bottom, I pulled the top part of the sleeve up and over the nail and forced it on, (make sure the seam is at the bottom) then brought the robe up and gathered it tightly at the neck and then stitched the front to the back with a couple of quick slips on both sides. Then I put the head on after I put the hair on it. The sleeves should be under the robe at the top. Drape hood over the top.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

2 separate pieces Deb. They need to be big and fluffy.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Thank you, thank you. That solved my problems (I think). I just have to work with this for a while.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

You're very welcome.

Glenview, IL

Janice,
Slide sleeve over the wire. you did the mittens and inserted at end of wire. gather the end of sleeves to fit on mitten. Oh fill the sleeve to give a little body. Pull gathering tight and tie around nail. Once everything is where you want it glue the ties to nail. Then the robe slides up tying tightly around nail. make all adjustments prior to gluing.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Gotcha! Thanks!

Glenview, IL

Oops, Thanks Robyn...

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Thank you. We just did our 2 separate ways and they both work.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

So the robe is two pieces too?

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

No it is one piece. After you sew the seam to make it round, fold it and lay it down with the seam in the center of the back., you will cut down each side about 3 inches, then gather the front half and the gather separately the back half. Is that clear if not I will try to find the post or something that will help.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Ok, see I'm starting to panic. I did copy those instructions. I'll sit down with a cup of coffee and a ciggy and read read read until all this sinks in. Don't go no wheres.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

ok, I'm here if ya needs me. Just running in and out of the room trying to figure out what to fix for dinner for when the hungry horde comes home tonight.

Glenview, IL

I am here too Deborah.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

My fabric is 45" wide. But I cut out the sleeves 10" x 18" instead of 10" x 22 1/2. Is that ok?
I had some waste fabric.

Glenview, IL

That is ok Deborah... Save your scraps...

Did you do all the pieces for the 35 inch.
(sent you a d-mail.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

That will work too. You just used the measurement for 35 in width instead.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

whew! Thanks. It was only the sleeves I used the 35 width. The robe was 45" wide

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

You're doing good, keep going.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I just had to share this with all of you, I'm about to bust at the seams with pride. My DGD was nominated for Miss Merry Christmas to represent the 6th grade at her school by her classmates. I'll have to go find her a new dress. Yikes I have less than a month to do it in too.

Glenview, IL

Oh How sweet!!
Congratulations.

yep Deborah your doing great!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh How Sweet Robyn! Charge up the Camera I feel a Kodak memory moment coming on!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I already put the batteries in the charger. My daughter hated things like this so she would never get involved. I'm glad Kali loves this stuff.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Deb, if you have some strong thread, use that to gather the neck abd the sleeves so it wont break! HAND gather it!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Your help has been great and I have everything put together. Now my problem is the hair, beard. Is there a trick to this or do you just pull it out, fluff it.
How do you get the hair to stay where you want it; hot glue?
Gessssh, I can sew but this is HARD. I guess I'm just not the creative type.
