Thanks so much Trisha, I haven't been inside any of those stores for ages, so I had no idea. It would be great if you can find them and let us know. Anyone?
2nd annual Christmas Victorian Santa Workshop #6 (2-#4's lol
I have one of those needles, I used them to make Cabbage Patch dolls! LK, you did what I'm gonna do with my robe! Yours is beautiful!
Are we thinking on the same page or what??? LOL
Same material, same trim! Can't wait to see your pictures.
Still waiting for more snowman instructions Betty, you started them...
Robyn, thanks for your snowman, How tall is it when made?
LK
Finished he is just about 2 ft. tall.
LK, I'm making the red one first, for my bf in Ala. Then I'm gonna make the purple one for me, If I can find a dowel big enough! My Sweetie mailed me 2 nails ! He stuck them into the corrugated cardboard!
Audrey, how many boyfriends do you have? Did your main squeeze move to Ala, (the one at the hardware store)? Straighten me out here or give me your secret.
Joann's has the long needles in their upholstery supplies section. I originally bought them for sewing buttons on throw pillows.
LOL, That meant best friend! My Sweetie is my boyfriend!
Now Deb, you need to behave yourself!!
ROFLOL

Betty, are you going to finish your instructions on your larger snowman???
I will be gone for a Dr.s appointment today, but I will read when I get back Friday afternoon.
LK
Good luck, LK!!
No, not the light up one, Betty you started posting the instructions for the 3 foot stand up snowman.
LK
Sorry...see the one you posted has a fleece type face..mine was wooden but that shouldn't create much of a problem for you...
With using heavy gauge wire, maybe slightly thicker than the santa wire, you can either stapple several times to the back of the wood body frame, or you know those stapples you have to hold electrical wire on 2 by 4's,you can just hammer it to hold the wire which now will be his arms...
You could purchase either felt or even a small pair of mitts and attach similar to the way you attached the balls on the santa, secure with wire and glue...
After you dress your snowman, again, must put his sweater on before you start to attach a head...
What will you be using for the head..
purchase the material of choice that best suits your needs, cut 2 circle pieces..could be as large as 8" or 10" and sew leaving the bottom end open... now what I would do is create his face before sewing the 2 pieces together..that way you wouldn't have to struggle...
You then could attach the head to the body frame at the neck after you've stuffed it, gathered it and secured it so stuffing doesn't come out..
For more stability I'd cut a round 1" thick wooden circle, just a little less than the head size, drilling a hole at the bottom of the wooden circle then drilling a hole mid area of where the neck is on the main body form, once you put the dowel into the wooden circle I'd stuff with stuffingfront and back then insert dowel , gather and insert the dowel into the body to secure the head in place...I do this with regular wood glue and a bit of hot glue...
Now if it's just a wooden head, I basecoat with several coats of acrylic, paint in eyes, mouth and note..even the nose if I have some 1/8th" wood I cut the nose, similar to the snowman I posted a few posts up...drill a hole at the bottom of the head and again put a dowel about 1 1/2" deep into head and drill hole in head placement location of the body form..glue
I don't worry about it being messy because I purchase a scarf at the dollar store to put around his neck..
On the wooden head I also pick up a nice knitted toque at the Dollar Store and glue it to his head..that way if he's outside I don't worry about a fabric head which might not take the weather elements..
Now his arms because of the wire structure can be moved, bent to create your design, i.e. holding a tree, a teddy...sky is the limit..ours had skiis..then lots of sparklies.. I'm known for my sparklies..lol
I'm so sure Linda Kay that I've not made sense..I'm just rambling so ask me as you go..
Good Morning!
Wow...how exciting to see all the snowmen being created too. Will look forward to seeing the creations!
Linda Kay, Oh my your Victorian Santa is marvelous. I just love the purple material,
LOL...you know, i have some purple material, not as rich as yours but hmmmm.

...Think i will be finishing my Practice one tonight. LOL Debra, took him through the SI thread yesterday and boy did he put on a few pounds with all the cooking going on over there. As you know, I don't cook much thats why he's so skinny. Thanks for the idea on the tissue, good idea! I actually used bubble wrap and that worked out better then i thought. as soon final details are done.
...Then on to the next!!
