Hello Kathy. How are the babies?
Harmony, when we get stressed we bring out the "Baileys"!!! LOL BTW, where is the bottle hiding these days? Audrey do you have it?
Oh, I forgot several post back, Jaye I love the sofa!! Color is perfect, in fact I have one that color!! Had a red kitchen too, in my old house. Loved it!!! Red apples Kathy!!
My sofa is actually a sleeper chair/loveseat thingee!! Red for a flaming extrovert--right?

How are yu feeling? I am sorry about the fall when trying to get the pictures. Do I need to send bandages?
Oh goodness he just loves to go fishing.
Sorry Harmony had to cut short I had to run grandson aka Punk boy, to school.
I have seen pics of your garden and they are beautiful.
Friends help friends without expecting anything in return so long as said friend will help themselves. I am a firm believer of "paying it forward". I will continue to help where I can and when I can, I will just be a bit more cautious. Ok off my soap box.
I need to make a list of Punk boys grandma's
Let me see if I can find his fishing pic from this summer.
i'm fine sweetie, no bandages needed. the baily's is in my refridge. dear
Ah ha!! So you are hiding the Baileys!! Okay, no bandages but I do feel bad you feel. On the other side, I loved the pictures!! Miss Pooh is adorable--her face coloring is so cool!!!
Have I been reading you are going to visit Joyce in December? What a neat trip.
awwwwwwwww she is a pretty girl, frizzle?
Morning All,
Wow I overslept, guess it was because I was up at 2 am yesterday, stayed busy all day. Rick off work today for dr appt. probably won't get much done with him home. Which reminds me come Friday he may get laid off for about 3 weeks. He is an electrian for the new Home Depot that is being built in my home town. Some of the work is being put on hold for a while.
Jaye, you can put purple butterflies, frogs and turtles by my name
Marion, I keep forgetting to ask you.....You always mention about your hands hurting...Arthritis? I do too, I wear these gloves that have copper in them, plus I use Aspercream, I add a little Lavender oil. Lavender is good for pain also
yep, frizzle. she is wild. won't let me near her
lol I let punk boy sleep in and I told him that. He asked why, (here goes the ?'s again) I just said I thought you needed to sleep in, so that leads to another question, how do you sleep out? Stump the nanna there.
Where is our little Miss Fairy? Didn't see her yesterday either?
I have red black frizzle roo's but no white ones. BUT I do have a white 5 cochin pullets. I also have a blue and 2 partridge pullets. Speaking of which, need to go let them all out bb in a bit.
I don't mean to change the subject here... so forgive me.
As you all know, LK and I went to a RU last month. We both made out like bandits... and came home with brug cuttings from Maggiedew's fine gardens. Well, since I'm sort of very new to brugs, and the last time I tried to root them in water, I tried an experiment ... since I had so much to experiment with. LK told me that she layed hers on the ground and half way covered the stem, and they rooted. So, I cut some of the stems in sections betweent the nodes, and 8 out of 12 of them rooted, and are looking like they're going to make it.
The ones I put in water, and added peroxide... changing the water/peroxide daily... are wilted, and looking very bad.
The ones I put in water w/o peroxide... changing the water once a week... have the white knots on them, and are ready to pot up today...
So, now I know more about what works for me.
Just thought some of you might be interested.
These are the ones I cut in sections, the eight that and are rooted and have starts coming up. They are Pink Beauty, and Autumn Treasure.
'Bout time you show up dear sweet sistah, Kathy!
Harmony, ((((waving and smiling)))))
BJ, you just have a natural green thumb, gf. I'm going to follow you and try some with the layer method too!
Oh Tia, Tina, Whatever he is adorable. Is that a catfish on his pole? We have bass in our lake and he could just sit on the dock and fish til his little heart's content. Or just feed the fish with the pellets if he wanted to.
Cindy, a little of everything!! Started with problems with to many hours sitting at a quilting frame hand quilting--got carpal really bad!! Add excessive work on computer putting in all the data for the garden festival and then DH being sick and surgeries having to be postponed for quite a while. Add our old uncle in the mix. The last problem was I tripped over the hose (now comments please--me clutzy) and damaged a tendon. Doc in a box here but wrong brace on the hand and aggrevated the situation. Probably will end up with surgery in the future for that hand. Yeap, old age!!! I have wondered about those gloves. Lavendar--love it !! Lavendar and cranberry are probably my favorite scents.
Interesting BJ. I was send 4 cuttings awhile back and did the water/perxiode thing and they wilted!! Don't know if I did something wrong or not but inspite of doing every thing told to do, I lost all. Good to hear someone else had the same problem--well not good but a relief to know it just wasn't me.
When I was making the beaded Lady Bugs for you I wore them. They work great, I need to order more. I even wear them under my garden gloves.
Deborah sent you a dmail
I receive some Brug cuttings back in June I think. I put mine in root hormone them planted them. Only 1 survived out of eight cuttings and it bloomed 1 flower. I don't think I gave it enough fertilizer. It is in my master bath and is about 3ft and is putting out another shoot at the base.
Whats the peroxide for i just root mine in water??
Deb, I don't know about the green thumb.. I do experiment a lot... and I do loose a lot because of it...
Marion... some of the cuttings I got last spring were lost to the peroxide method too... I managed to save 3 out of 5 from those.
Of the 20 cuttings I had 2 weeks ago, I'm probably going to wind up with 12 plants for the spring... NOW, what to do with them all... that is the question.
Harmony, we were just told last spring to add a dash of peroxide in the water when we change the water everyday... we were new to brugs, so we followed directions. I really don't know what the peroxide is used for.
BJ, is your area humid? I know Brugs like tropical like conditions right? I only have 2, 1 outside that is about 6 or 7 feet tall and the one in my bathroom. I love them but it is so dry and windy here a lot they don't grow that good.
The ones I put in the ground last spring were planted on the lake level, and yes, it does stay pretty humid down there... but no, it's not really a humid area in the heat of the summer. Right now, they're all on my sun porch... and the ones in the picture above are in "makeshift" green house sort of thing I put together a few weeks ago. So, it stays pretty humid in there.
So, all you seasoned brug growers... I have a question... should I cover those stems that have rooted? or just leave them half exposed to the elements? When do I pot them up in bigger pots... I'm sure I'll need to do that before spring, cause they're growing pretty fast in those little pots.
Now, that is one determined Brug... just beautiful.
yep that is a baby cat that i stocked in the pond back in early april. I have bigger ones in there also that we stocked 2 years ago this coming spring. We have had a couple fish fries this past summer. YUMMY
BJ, I'm thinking probably the best person to ask is that guy in Brug forum Eric Knight or Gordon Hawk? Can't remember whose who lol
I just thought about posting it in the brug forum... thanks. I'll do that in a bit.
LK... Yes, I was up at 5 this morning... not by choice... and I did call to get a doctor's appointment this morning... for 10:15 tomorrow morning. Here we go again...
Tina... I'll take him fishing here too... he can fish while you and I sit in the gazebo and watch him...
sounds like a plan. But he will NOT be with me in May for the RU there.
Jaye will have to give us a Brug lesson. I grow them but I'm definitely no source of good info. Harmony, the H202 helps put oxygen in the water when water rooting Brugs.
Harmony, the reason Jaye (Heavenscape) named this thread 'Sweet Interuption' is because anyone of us can talk about anything except topics that are against DG acceptable use policy. (did I explain that correctly)
We have formed a sisterhood where we care about each other, learn about each others lives. Our bond with each includes following the day to day routines, venting those frustrations so sistas can help us cope, as well as helping each other celebrate lifes joys. Some of us post regularly while others pop in from time to time. Irregardless how often, we keep tabs on each other in some way. Some of us know some sistahs a little better than some but that's ok too. We develop close friendship from interacting either my posting here, phone, d-mail, e-mail or cards, and also get togethers when and where possible.
YEA... WHAT DEBORAH SAID !!!
and said so well, too.
Wonderful i'm uasally on the poultry forum but theres so much else i would rather talk about sometimes and chicken folks can be a teeny bit tempermental. People always think i want to talk chicken all the time but i live with them day in and out and it would be refreshing to talk on other subjects
But i love to talk about most anything i'm interested in lots of things so hope to stay and talk a while.
BJ, so sorry to hear your still in pain, Lets all hope the Dr. can find a solution this time???
Some of the people on the brug forum, are talking about getting some orchid, or spagnum moss, getting it wet, and placing it clear plastic cup to place the cuttings in. That way you can see when the cuttings are trying to root, plus they are not sitting in water, just the wet moss. So far, it is working for them.
Hey BJ, good job on getting them rooted. Now that the ones on the side have rooted, and are growing, I would cover them up. If there is more than one plant, you can split them if you want, or you can leave them for a fuller looking tree when they grow.
Some people say the peroxide is to keep the water fresh, but if you change it daily, I don't see the need for it. So far, I have rooted all mine in miracle grow soil. Just use your judgement for upsizing the pot. When mine get top heavy, I put them in larger pots.
Harmony, do you preferr to be called Harmony, or Celia? Lovely brug you have there. Such a pretty orange color.
Love the fishin boy, and the chicken pictures.
Well, now I can't remember all I was going to type, so I will quit for now, go back up and read some more..
LK
