OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH just got an idea

Fabric auction. Come on help me out here we can do it. I am thinking each person involved has a specific day to place say a certain amount of fabric up for auction and then everyone bids. We all that is involved pick a charity to donate to and the oh gosh, popular vote wins for the charity, work on it...............

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I had the scare of my life, Punk boy didnt get off the bus. That is the final straw I will get him from school from now on. And it is not my daughter that has me scared.

Hi Harmony, there are a few threads I think you'd enjoy, which some of us sistahs participate. One of them is the Santa Workshop held by Betty, it's too late to sign up but you can follow how 'inept' some of us are!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917749/ That's the latest room.
Then, these sistahs here fail to tell you too, that majority of us are swap addicts. You name it, if it's legit, they'll start a swap :D Not mandatory to join all, but you can easily cram up your home fast!!

There's also the Travels of Cedric and Bailey on the Swap Forum. That should be interesting...

Tina-Tia, it's a great idea. Just ask admin whether they'd allow it. Don't want to break the rules here. I know if it's co-ops, that's fine, but don't know about auctions. Anything require money transfer is quite touchy with admin.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes please...for my grandson's safety. Please pick up Punk Boy!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Okay Marion mom and my aunt made this in the early 50's and it is very similar to the recipe in one of my 1923 cook books:

Refrigerator Chocolate Pie

2 1/2 Cups milk 4 egg yolks
2 (3oz) squares of chocolate 2 Tbsp. Butter
1/3 Cup flour 1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup (whole) milk 1/8 tsp. cinnamon

Scald milk over low heat stirring constantly. Add cut up chocolate. In a separate bowl mix flour and milk until smooth and add salt, sugar and cinnamon. Watch and stir carefully (can be put in double boiler) Cook and stir for 15 minutes (careful not to scorch) Pour a small amount over beaten egg yolk. Beat well and add to mixture in double boiler. Stir and cook the custard for 3 minutes. Add butter. Remove from heat and beat until very smooth. Add vanilla. Let cool. Pour into baked Pie shell. Chill. Top with Whipped cream and grated chocolate.

Some people will say just get the chocolate pudding mix it's the same thing and easier. Well it might look sort of the same but there is no comparison as to how it tastes.....

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

yea I didnt think about a money issue. how would I go about asking admin. We would also have to pick someone to collect the $$$ and it wont be me, please. Oh admins please help us. Could we really do this.

Yes it is official, I will pick him up from school from now on.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tina-Tia, just go to the home page, and at the bottom you'll see "Contact Us".
Good luck, hope they say yes to charity.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I got an idea, maybe we could all play a game of sorts here. Game I have no clue maybe name that tune or song or movie............... then you earn butterflies or lady bugs or frogs............... and that is what you have to bid with. It can be fun I think.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmm.. then we just send our dues to one sistah, and that sistah turns them to the winner's charity choice, and show receipt?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Trisha, I am going to buy groceries tomorrow and it will be made this weekend for sure. You have just made me one happy lady--doing happy dance--nope not spraining or breaking any ankles or other bones if I can help it. Have the pudding ones and they just are NOT the same!!!!! Only in dire emergency and gotta have chocolate or .......
Bless you sweet sistah!!!

Neat idea Tia!! I have thought about round robin quilts to donate to children's hospitals. Would have to work out some details on that or everyone just make a square and then someone would volunteer to put them together and quilt (gasp) then send to children in hospitals. Maybe even stockings for those. Yikes better turn off the brain.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tina-Tia, you need to post a link to your Dirty Santa for Harmony!!
She might like to join the fun.. and that is still open for her to join!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

yes for sure show receipt there has to be a way just gotta see if admin would let us.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's a swell idea Marion. Name the size of the blocks.. I'm ready!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Of course, it is over in the swap section. I am dealing with issues that someone insists that I must deal with. Please Harmony check it out on the swap forum. It will be fun.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Are you serious? Could even be done on muslin with crayons then set with a warm iron--sort of a childish type design. Just thinking out loud but I do believe there is always a need for things of that type on the children's wards of the hospital--especially teaching hospitals. Let's see if anyone else picks up on it and how they feel. Could even offically do after the first of the year.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

great idea Marion.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Tia. It is just something I have always been interested in doing--we could even do them for different states--hospitals.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, you've met part of my "WANTS". I've always wanted to do that too. Sometimes we need to get busy for good causes!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I could go for something like that too, Marion. Let me know when you start that one.
Another idea that might work is to make the rag quilt for the kids in hospitals... they wash well, and are very durable for kids to drag around. Even a lap quilt size for kids would be nice... especially if they're kids with an illness to lay on the couch with... a 40" X 60" lap quilt would take 48 6" squares, right?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hash it out here, while we're gone.
Off for some Mexican food.. will have to settle for flan :(
Cya later.. love ya!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, now your talking. I like the idea of any kind of kid quilt, and donate to the kids hospital. Each month we could all make one, and mail it to a different place for donations. One month in Florida, one month in Texas...?
LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I didn't take a nap today... and I should have.
Son allowed me to beg off taking him to dinner tonight, so we'll do that tomorrow ... Don will be home, and we'll make it a family affair.

I'm getting really sleepy now... is it dark yet?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I think we're onto something now... sounds like a "DG Sistah Club" thing to do.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

sounds like a plan
I like it. Just a lap quilt right?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Marion???? this is your idea... whatcha wanna do?
Lot of ideas are floating around here... but you're the boss on this one.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I like it just tell me where when and............

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Grandma's attention all gran's, Punk Boy is refusing to get in the bath or the shower. I gave him 3 choices, and I am thinking the 3rd is what is going to take place, IT INVOLVES the toilet. I am going to flush him.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

NOOOO... tell him to bath tonight or he has to get up early tomorrow to take one before school.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

oh gosh that will be a fight
I am not into that fight. I will hold him over the toilet and I bet ya he will take a bath.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Don't give him a "toilet complex" though... ok?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Around here they get the choice - get in and take your bath or be a baby and I will give you a bath like a baby.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

ok he said after I read this to him he said he will take one before school. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH I know how he is would probably like the game. OHHHHHHHHHHH I got him talked into a bath tonight. I am just gonna beat him he he he. OMG brb the bath will now commence..............

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

we have good news gan's He is now clean and smells like grapes. Sometimes it takes a lil persuading.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Smells like grapes. "grinning" Now that's clean. I remember that scent.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)
