Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #67 visit with friends...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here I go posting again, but just received this post from an 'organizing' group I belong to and thought some were interesting and should share..they gave me 10 bNow that the holidays and holiday shopping are upon us, here are 10 simple ways to organize and simplify your spending. I'll share 2 with you...

Think lightweight. When buying gifts for family members and friends that you need to send through the mail, keep the weight of those gifts in mind. The lighter the item (think gift cards!), the less the postage. This is especially true for your international packages.

Buy gift cards, for yourself. Determine what your shopping budget is and buy gift cards in your favorite stores for that amount. Whenever you purchase something, use your gift cards. When your gift cards have run out, you've reached your budget.

We will be waiting to hear that you have been in to the doctor......remember that mum didn't want to go to the doctor either......are we going to have to send some of our closer sistahs up to escort you...lol....?? Seriously though you really do need to have it checked out because NO you do NOT deserve to suffer. An additional note: that is why they Triage, they take the most serious first, but then they do get around to the less serious, you just might have to wait a little longer.......My mom would say "Are YOU a doctor....then how do you know it isn't something more serious". (Of course she is always putting off getting an appointment when SHE is the one having theproblem)......

Bety, I will hold you to that doctor appt. You better go or the boogy man will get you and I will send him.

My dear, you are truly an enabler. I got the templates for your cards and went out today and bought WAY too much ribbon to try and make them tonight. Want to start on the Victoria Santa (have tomorrow off) and a pile of sewing to do. I have decided I am not "Betty". Can only do so much at one time. Got to pace myself.

Go get em'....

It's weird, half the businesses are closed and all the schools are out today. Government and banks are closed tomorrow.

Betty I think I broke something for you. Yesterday I was trying to get to the new jug of milk and knocked the jar of spaghetti sauce onto the tile floor and yup, it broke. Not much left in the jar so that was a good thing.

I think that's a good idea about your decision on the Dr Betty. You've got to get that looked at.

Betty, a 'jelly roll' is a roll of 2 1/2" x 45" strips of fabric that are "rolled" up. I have to tell you the name is perfect because some of the fabrics look "delicious"! Moda makes the most beautiful ones. Anyway, you can find lots of patterns that use these jelly rolls online.

Here's a picture of some....

I don't think that's the Jelly Roll, Jelly Roll Morton, was named after ;o)

Jeannine how did your camping trip go over the weekend? Did you freeze...sure bet you missed Murphy and Sailor?

I've never seen advertised or sold what you call a jelly role..now they are just pieces that co-ordinate right and you sew them in strips????? or are they pre-sewn into yardage? Am certainly interested..will have to investigate more but you can give me more into can't you..lol

OMG it is soooo cold, of course the girls here today must have turned the heat down..it's freezing in here! Turned on the fireplace, upped the furnace, have the chinese I picked up for supper in micro and now going to turn the tub on..guess you all know what's coming next...

Mom said thanks to all of you who prayed for her..did appreciate it....

I won't tell you what happened today with regards to her doctors' appt. or you'll be as mad as I am...can you guess?

Betty, we had a wonderful weekend for camping. Beautiful weather; not too cold at all! The only thing that was not up my alley was the camp ground closes on 10/31 but leaves sites open. Well in past years, they have also left open a bathroom in that section. Not this year! I have no problem going behind a tree - in the dark! But in broad daylight, I don't want my "moon" shining! Anyway, I made DH scout around for a bathroom and he found on the other side of the camp ground and handicap port-a-john. I have to say, it was quite clean and not smelly at all. I just covered EVERY surface with an entire roll of tp!

So on the jelly rolls, the fabrics are all coordinated but not sewn together. There are probably 40 strips in a roll. Check out eBay. YOu can find a lot there and I'm sure your quilt shops have them.

Well, I started to cut out a jacket for my DD this evening and got 4 pieces of the pattern pinned down when I realized, DD had picked up the wrong size! Luckily, I had not cut the fabric yet and had actually bought enough - cause the pettern had the quanity for her size on the back. So I had to fold that stupid pattern back to fit in that envelope which is not easy! Back to the fabric store tomorrow.

Well, off to watch DWTS. I am SO glad Susan Lucci left last week! Julieanne Hough needs to come back now!!

Night all!
Jeannine
