Thank you Liz for thinking of Powder. She jumped off the table and missed the small ledge of the hutch last Tues and severly sprained her right hip. Had to take to em room and cost $98.00 for exrays and meds and keep her in carrier for 5 days and nights but she is back to her old attack cat mode now. She is 14 weeks old and growing fast. Will have to take a pic. Going to rain next couple of days. Guess I should sit down and do the bills. Hate that job. Had to order propane first time this yr. Hate that too, but am blessed so shouldn't complain. LOVE ALL BEV

Morning! I had planned on getting back here last night but DH and I were going a couple of rounds! Yes he was in the wrong on this one! But it doesn't mean I won in his mind! LOL

Now for the good news! Drumroll! Linda was in surgery for one hour and the DR. came out smiling. They did end up doing a partially masectomy. Then they have to wait for the results of the biospy. But he was very happy about it. She was home and sleeping in her own bed at 3:00 in the afternoon! She is one tough little lady!

I need to go!

Hello Liz! Got my pants for work and I don't care if they look good or bad. It is just stupid! I just wanted cheap for now. Hope things keep getting better.

Okay later everyone!

How could I forget! Thank you everyone! The thoughts and prayers really helped. There is a way to go yet but I know you are with us. Thank you again!

Vicki

Oh I'm glad her surgery went well. I had to skim over the posts, I'm at work and have so much to read and so little time to read it!

I don't know where to start. Betty, everything everyone has said is so true, you are such a wonderful person, someday we're going to have to take a vacation up there. Maybe after Dave's been at his job for a while and the economy turns around.

Great news Vicki! Wow, she returned home fast! I hope that biopsy comes out negative.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Good news on your sis Vicki. Hope all turns out well. BEV

Just arrived at work, OMG what a morning..as I said earlier I had to wait until Suzanne called although when I drive I love leaving 1 hr. earlier just to relax - no rushing..she called at 7:10 and said I would have to pick her up, take her to Penetang which is 1/2 hr. in opposite direction so she could pick up her hubby's vehicle..was having problems with dealerships..then they all came to if she would contact CAA and have them tow the car to Barrie they possibly could have it ready in the next day or so, now that meant she would have to drive back home because CAA won't pick up a vehicle unless someone is there..so her day certainly isn't going well..

All this commotion made me 1/2 hr. late...and I DID drive much to fast..not in the fog areas though, you can relax on that one..here I am so enjoying some of our DG family back on-line..you all have no idea just how special you all are to me..my 2nd family, sometimes I even put you first, especially when mom calls..lol I never did finish yesterday's story did I????

Where to begin..

Here I am, Paul just left for court - representing a client so likely will not be back today..I've been sitting making a list of all I have to do..got an idea, e-mailed Jeff and said while I was in the city why not get together go to the Mandarin for supper, have been missing him...e-mailed back , said with his work (Jeff is the son who is divorced and works almost 24/7) trying to get new program on the market that's he's had to cancel a date with a girlfriend 3 times so had better not cancel again, but would have loved to..said maybe lunch Monday...so guess mom's take 2nd place to pretty young women...lol..as it should be..

OMG Liz you sound as though you truly are back from hell...jumping up and down here, can even hear the playfull tone of your post..how exciting is that...so you've gotten you Santa kit you said, got any material? Let's hope things have a 'happy ever after' ending...just want to hug you to death..Laura as well...it's just thrilling to see you both post...of course, love all the rest of you as well...

You are all so kind with you words..as my boys would jokingly say..."who are they talking about mom?" funny...

Vicki the Lord must have been listening intently to everyones prayers..my sister is doing better (she e-mailed me to say she was spending the day in bed..having cold/hot sweats but she thinks it's all related to being off the morphine) resting...

then, your sister, wonderful news, must have brought tears to your eyes knowing she'll be fine...

Judy, prayers for her sister..knows she's in good hands and it will be a slow recovery...

Still no call on Shannan but I'll call around noon just incase Shawnee didn't get back home till early hours...don't want to wake her!

Bev, what can we find to keep you busy this winter so you don't get cabin fever...anything you always had a yen to do, to learn? let's be creative...tell of of some of your interests, know you spend most of your time on Scotty and the boys, but now we must spoil you, give you a smile, so let's have it? When on the photo site, you did have a photo of Powder didn't you..either that or someone has a kitty just the same..

Not sure what's happening with my 2 kitties but they aren't liking each other..before they'd avoid each other, odd time play fighting but now it's the real thing...hmmm even Sailor gets out of their way...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

That was my Powder on there Betty. I will have a lot to do in winter if I just do it. I read, paint, embroidery, play games on computer. Need to organize hostas and Daylillies in books. It is just that I am not fine until after Christmas. Sad and lonely time of yr for me but will make it through. I am tough gotta be. LOVE ALL BEV

Thought I'd better post before losing it..

Crissy, I've 2 extra bedrooms and always my doors are opened...oh oh that's what got me in trouble on the first thread I ever participated..saying such a thing..lol..but truly they are..anyone wanting to visit this area is more than welcome..I'm a great tour guide...

Bev, animals sure can cost a pretty penny ..oh yes, we'd better not go there..lol..

DIL Melanie called me last night...she's doing flannel rag quilts for the boys (didn't think she'd make using of a sewing machine - bought her one a couple of years ago for Christmas) she and a bunch of girls meet in the fall to work different christmas projects, last year was p.j.'s...the year before scarves and mitts...anyway, she wants from me 2 (10x10) pieces of flannel from a nighty or p.j.'s..she's collected from her mom, dad, kids, bio mom/dad and now me so she can incorporate a piece from each of us...now wouldn't you know it, I had old nightgown and p.j.'s, cleaned my drawers and into the garbage they went...Stacey could always cut up that new nightie I bought in Frankenmuth..lol..no, have to go to the material store at lunch, will buy a piece I truly like and as not to say (not really a lie) I'll cut myself out a nightie, sew it much later..lol..and give her 2 pieces...think that would work? I'm just so pleased she's taken an interest...maybe that way if something happens to me or I quit sewing she'll have my machine....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev much the same here..it's always difficult to go through the Christmas season when you've lost someone, but having being told your hubby would die and his dying on New Years Day, just stays with you forever..regardless how the years have gone bye, it just is so very near to the surface, so know exactly how you feel..our anniversary would have been the 27th this month and to make matters worse, Bill's 69th birthday...so it is a good thing that we keep extremely busy isn't it...

Bev, as soon as Jeff visits and puts the info from my old computer on to my new one, I bought a program that will take a photo and graph it out and give you color chart and #'s...if you ever want want done, I'd be more than happy to do that...

This program was something I JUST HAD to have, lol, so Jeff bought it for my birthday a few years ago..I did one for sister Sharon and one for me of Noah and Kyle, bought all the embroidery thread and here it sits under my office desk...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Thanks Betty. You Are the mostest!!!! HUGS BEV You will have to explain that program better to this pea brain of mine!!!!

Nice photo..

You mean my cross-stitch program...

Once I pick a photo it makes an actual cross stitch graph same as what you purchase lets say at Michaels, then give you the color graph thread requirements and embroidery #'s in different makes of thread..so virtually you get a pkgs. much the same as if you purchased it...all the symbles as well..very neat...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

OK! Way cheaper than buying each and many possibilities. I have never done that kind of cross stitch just the kind on pillow slips and that. BEV
This is my Blue. I have to take him to vet this month and see what they are going to do about his heart worms.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Looks like it will be nice but isn't it very slow and tedeous work? BEV

Victoria Harbour, ON

Almost tempted to put it by the wayside..I painted the other 2 grandchildren in oils and thought I'd do Kyle and Noah in cross stitch..way too much work for me...thought by bringing it to work it would give me something to do but can't seem to concentrate lol..might as well bring it home and put it in the never/never land pile...everyone must have one of those...

Isn't he adorable...what can they do for his worms?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I won't know till I talk to the vet. Hope he doesn't have to go through those terrible treatments. They told me they shoot arcnic in each side of thier back and it is very painfull and can kill them. They keep them 2 days and if they don't die you have to keep them confined for six weeks and still they may die so very bad. I just can't have him put down even if it costs lots of money. He is so good and sweet. He desearves a chance. Just wish him luck. BEV

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Vicki, great news about your sister! A big sigh of relief. Tell her she has many DG friends thinking of her and wishing her a speedy recovery.

Debra

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hello Debra...what is the weather like in your neck of the woods??

Bev..isn't that a little drastic, is that a typo and you are saying arsenic? surely not...OMG, almost a death sentence in itself isn't it...what are his symptoms?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, I'm all for trying all you can for a furry, know I would within reason, just not beyond reason like mom...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Speaking of mothers lol she just called, said Aunt Muriel has the money for the dog operation...I KNOW she's fibbing, she just doesn't want me to mention to stepfather that mom is giving her the $$$...don't realy care...lol..then she wanted to know when our family craft day was..Nov.15th..well she doesn't want to do the project we're doing, she wants to do the glass blocks, Aunt Muriel wants to do the glass blocks..just too funny! Sometimes she just amuses me...now she said she really should have 3 Victorian Santa's as to allow her to give it to the Seniors group, and the church nearby her cottage and the church near her home...so guess who will be working overtime..

Mom's, you just got to love them...

Do you think our kids feel the same about us? did I ask this before????lol

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

That is the treatment for heart worms Betty. Just pray he will not have to have them somehow. He has adult worms but no babies. That is why they let him go so long but we will find out soon. BEV

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, what allerted you to worms? I remember they used to say if a dog kind of drags his behind?? but then you'd just purchase pills I think...must be a different type..ahhhh just went back to posts...HEART worms not regular worms...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I have always given Blue heartworm meds but the cheaper kind. The 2 vets I have had with him niether one of them told me to have him tested every other yr even though he takes meds so I didn't. I went on line and ordered the better stuff and they would not send it to me unless a vet aproved so had to take him and that is how they found it. BEV

Victoria Harbour, ON

Know my mom frets about hers getting Heartwarm..is it because he spends time outside? or near other dogs? If Sailor is in the house all the time except the few outings with me, could she get it? ... think I'd better go research the info on 'heart worm'

Did you say it was raining there? This morning the news said that up north if it reaches the projected 18..then we'll be breaking a 1948 record..can tell you how many years real quick, year I was born...

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Dogs get heart worms from mosquitos, right?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do you think Deborah that they can get them from mosquitos...wow, we've mega mosquitos here...best be more cautious..

Are you sewing up a storm Deborah?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Yes Betty they get them from mosquitos. The worms live in the heart and can kill a dog. If they have to do the treatments it kills the worms and they breack into pieces and travel through the blood stream. Very dangerous. BEV

Victoria Harbour, ON

in the portion of What did I learn today, we'll all know I learned about heart worm...

Got more velvet, thread, cotton for Mrs. Claus' apron and some gold ribbon, rushed to Rogers for pay as you go cel. card..I have a regular cel, but broke the end of charger so thought if I bought a card and as I have another tel. in my car since Jeff gave me the new one, and because Suzanne may need a ride hom tonight after I go shopping that all would be fine in my world..nope..don't even know the cel.# of this phone so probably can't activate it...technology, isn't it great..

What is great is the spaghetti/meat balls they have in the cafeteria..

I'm watching 'Bold and the Beautiful' shortly will be doing the eyes on all these 15 stantas...rough day at the office right?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have you ever had a day that seemed like an eternity...today is it for me..feel anxious, not sure why..guess it's not yet hearing how Shannon is..let's hope tonight good news comes...

Taking home the santa faces, all done and ready to become treasures..most have received their kits so won't it be fun to get this project underway..

Yawning away, trying to find someone to play with..must be a lovely day as everyone seems to be busy...

15 minutes yet to go, all packed up..keys on my desk lol now that's anxious isn't it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Talk later....enjoy your evening everyone..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Where are you all? lol..just got in
Off to bed I go...

Evening all....

Betty, I rec'd your card today with the patterns for the Xmas cards. Thank you so much! I have ribbon I bought last week and I can't wait to make one.

Well, with the cooler weather setting in, I am now back to my indoor activity of sewing. I have put the binding on 2 of my wall hangings (stitched by hand, I might add!). I gave one to my sister for her birthday last month and the other I have hung in our entry hall. I've posted a picture below. I still have 3 more wall hangings to bind plus two quilts. I am also making a really pretty purse out of Moda jelly roll fabric. I'll hopefully be able to finish that by early next week.

Well, the family is heading out camping tomorrow. Hopefully, I will not freeze my butt off since the weather looks good. This is our annual trip to get the boat winterized. We're putting the dogs in the kennel - not ready to take both of them knowing they will be in and out of the water. We will be taking them up to Luray for a few days after Xmas like we did last year.

I'll post a few pictures of Sailor in the next post.

The life of a dog......

I'm so laughing Jeannine, look at our girl and dressed for halloween...adorable...at Ganz tonight they had an entire wall of tree ornaments, many were dogs, but I was rushing like crazy so didn't get to see what kind of dogs, must go back..did though purchase some with kitties, so cute, will have to go take a photo now that I've someone to talk to..(jumping up and down)

So you are going to try once again this camping thing? Thought you might have learnt your lesson..lol Don't blame you for taking the dogs...

The quilt is stunning..I know you send them out for binding and quilting..is this place close to you? I've that king size quilt that mom cross stitched for me, would you be a dear and find out what they charge..also, do you provide the batting/backing??? keep trying to find someone around here but can't..I could always ship it down to them...

Maybe that will be a Christmas present to myself...I'd imagine they are busy though..when you send it to them is it a lengthly wait?

Got camera in hand, ornaments are so cute, must take a photo...
Jeannine, have you seen the dipped was bears done by Ganz...bought a few..when you want a room to smell lovely, you simple take your hair blower near it and the smell is to die for...

Victoria Harbour, ON

You can't tell me Jeannine he hasn't made himself at home..is Murphy jealous in any way or he's just adapted to another dog member of the family..

My Sailor is scratching at the door wants in...better go up..I'll take a photo of some of my bargoooons...couldn't resist...

Oh Betty, they LOVE each other. Sailor is most definitely the alpha dog and I think Murphy is quite alright with that! If he get's irritated with her, he just puts her in her place!

For the quilts, the lady only charged me $35 for the wall hangings - to quilt them only. I feel this was a steal and told her so, so I'm sure the price will be higher next time. The quilts are priced based on the size and the quilt pattern. The two I had done were approx $80 each to get quilted. I still need to do the binding. I looked up quilt shops in Toronto and there were plenty. You just need to stop by one and see if they have the names of anyone that does the quilting. Here's a link to a bunch:

Victoria Harbour, ON

were they not machine quilted Jeannine?

Will check out the link tomorrow..mom has about 3 she needs done as well..with Aunt Muriel's eyesight going (as well as her dog) lol she can't do them...
