۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞ 48
I have done some hand embroidery over the years....the last was ribbon embrodiery cards I did a year or two ago....it is fun.
You ladies had me starvin' to death five minutes after dinner tonight...bring up so many things I haven't had in years!!!!
Had to do some runnin' around with Laura and Cedric today, my car is still acting up so need to go see my mechanic out at Nisqually tomorrow and see how much this is going to cost!!!!:(
I have almost forgotten how to use my desk top!! Laura has my aircard so she can get on line with her lap top.....I can't spend as much time on here as I do on the Laptop.....hope she gets her computer glitch sorted out soon!! So will pop in when I can.
Jaye, I started with a dress, wings, scarf, “masquerade” mask, chain of leaves, 3 small bags of leaves, tights and shoes. Here is a picture of the dress and wings as they started. So I lowered the neck line, sewed up and covered the “corset” ties and added all the leaves; the head dress is a scarf with leaf chains sewn to it, next year I think I’ll attach them to a hairnet or wig cap or something like that, the head dress was a pain in the ***.
It was originally supposed to be a Greenwoman, but ended up being more of a forest fairy.
Mornin!!!!!
You gals had a good time with whitey tighties last night. I use to teas my grandson when he was 1st potty trained about how cute his little butt was in them whitey tighties. Now he is very modest which is a good thing.
My mom taught me to sew and crochet when I was in my early teens. Even tried the piano, I can play when the saints go marching in and jingle bells :) I can crochet simple things. Now I am into quilting and I am sure loving it. Going to start on the fall black swap that I was in and start putting that quilt together today while punk boy is in school. After school I have to play football and soccer with him, ughhhhhhhhhh anyone got an older brother for him I could borrow a few hrs a day.
I hate this time change, my body thinks it was 4 30 am when i woke up at 3 30.
Tina
Mornin all
Tia just think of it this way when you have to go out and play ..it is a good break from workin in the house and it is exercise plus it is time he will remember with grandma :-)

MORNING AUTIES AND FRIESNDS:)
My mom and grams tried to teach me several time crocheting, knitting, and sewing-never took-other crafty things I LOVE though and think I would like quilting as it is very precise and that is me to a tee:)
Deborah-I had to reread that a couple times as I only know them as tighty whities which thank god DH does NOT sprot that look:) BTW-if you are on a diet, and you are eating a 12 item meal, but no dessert-not sure if that counts as a diet my dear!!LOL
I do have some decor for about every holiday including door pretties:) I guess I am nerdy like that:)
Laura-your costume was AWESOME!!! Don't know if I membered to comment...
Tante Jaye-that article was intersting-thank goodness I don't eat that much microwve popcorn-can't beleive there is something in it that causes a lung disease!!
Judy-KarenofArozona hand embroiders too-and she also does beautiful stuff-sent me a towel for my Bday with hand embroidered fall leaves on it!!
Autie M-doesn't need to be a pillow, some fabric will do:)
mom said when I was little I liked to make noise-banging on pots and pans and the See & Say-LOVED making animal sounds
Good morning Sistahs... and nieces.
Oh my, I had missed some shenanigans here last night! Got heavily medicated and my turn to be left in the recliner, snoring.. that's what Kel said.
Judy, you have the patience of Job for sure. If you can do such exquisite embroidery work, you can do anything and I'm sure you can do them well too.
Your son is the new man of the millenium.. crafting something for his gals, that most boys will scorn at instead of buying.
My mother insisted that her sons learn to cook and do their own laundry too. Somehow she had the foresight to know that these sons will remain life long bachelors.
Talking of laundry, what kids know how to iron nowadays?
Grandma taught me to embroider, crochet and sew. I wished I had learnt tatting from her.
Marion, I wish I have that magazine which I'm sure already have the ice cream templates. But made my own templates yesterday, and fortunately they're e-z drawings. Prewashed and pressed the fabrics and all I need is some fusible stuffs.
OMG!! "White Tighties"!!! Deborah, SCOMM!!!
Sorry but I never had collard greens with backbones and me too BJ... never had fried cream corn.
I'm missing on a lot aren't I?
Oooh Trisha, I hope you get your car fixed. First Laura having vehicular problems, now you. Can't have the family left on foot.
You still did a good job Laura. AND you were a cute forest fairy!!
Morning Phyllis, Tina-Tia and Kim. To those that are about to wake up.. ain't one hour back grand?
Got to bring Lola to the vet and I'll catch you all later.
Stacey honey, I hope today is a GOOD day at work for you. Hang in there. You'll get that ideal job. When you get stressed there, find you something to BANG on!! Put that talent to good use.
Sis Kathy, feel better soon, we miss you when you're not playing with us.
OMG, Deborah. Can I come live with you?????? You do know how to cook!
Phyllis, they were lucky to have you there with all your talents. Bet you can take care of any crisis and remain cool and calm the whole time. How nice of them to give you a camera. We will be looking forward to lots of photos!
Judy, that's an incredible shawl. Your talents amaze me. And good for you to teach your son to cook and sew. It's a shame more kids aren't learning such things today, but it's understandable as so many of their parents don't cook or sew either.
My mother wanted to be sure my brother and I could cook and do laundry. We each were responsible for one meal a week. Didn't have to be fancy, just cook a meal. Hamburger helper was popular. lol!
Morning all!! Well I am not sure if I like the time change or not! Woke up at 6!! Wide awake and rearing to go. Then dropped--guess I need more coffee.
Yeap, we did have some fun last night and I gained 15 pounds just talking about food with Deborah. Funny she should mention her "grease" jar. When my daughter and I were thinning out our ktichen things she confessed to worrying when she was little where she would get a "grease" jat!!! Odd thing!! Well, it is over as we don't save our drippings any more.
Kathy, Jaye is so correct. We miss you and hope you are in our midst soon keeping us straightened out. Besides we miss our baby pictures. Need some puppy pic also.
Tink, did you mention one time your Mom lives in GA? Where? Well you need to get Janice to start you out quilting. Just be warned--it can be addictive!!! No known cure as I know of so far.
Jaye, I will look and see if I still have the magazine and if so will send for future use. Just need to double check where I put it.
Linda Kay, did you receive any information? Was it enough? LOL
BJ--where are you? Morning Phyllis, Flaming Kim , Tia, Tina or Whatever, Trisha, Laura Audrey and who did I miss? Morning to you also!! Oh no Judy-waving --now off to get a refill on my coffee.
Morning Sistahood !!!
Yep, Deborah was in rare form last night... my sides are still sore.
BUT, she made me burn my raffia. I had braided some lengths, wrapped them around dowels, and laid them across a pan of water in the oven to steam... then I forgot them while I was here laughing so hard. Discovered them when I went to bed last night, and now they're a nice golden brown... not quite crispy, so, maybe not all is lost.... they're nice and curly though.
That is what I kept smelling last night? ROFLOL. Indeed she was in rare form. Like our Deborah should be.
BJ I played in the yard this morning with the sticks. Don't think I would ever find a box to put them in so back to the drawing board!! Not given up completely.
Marion... you might need to bend and steam some of those sticks to do what you're talking about... but the ones already made up at Walmart are only about $3... that's the route I took.
That is what I was wondering if I could do. Hummm, might try then WalMart is closer and takes less time. Thinking right now.
BJ-I am confused about the raffia-can you explain??
Oh Linda Kay where are you dear? Are you overwhelmed at your mail last night or this morning? Ask and you shall recieve. LOL
she is here somplace-I have been dmailing with her
Why are you confused, my dear Fairy Feet..???
Raffia will bend, and you can braid it or shape it ... then if you steam and heat it, it will hold that shape... like curls, and stuff like that...
Same with thin strips of wood, or flexible branches... if they're still a little green, you can shape them and speed up the drying in the oven... but don't forget it's in the oven...
Okay, thanks Tink!!
Yea, Bj tell us about the raffia. I like making bows out of it, but don't understand about using the stove to heat them up?
Is it getting close to another operation, Linda K?
Morning Deborah!!!
Good Morning Marion!!!!!!!!!!!♥
Here's the raffia that I burned last night... ahem, Deborah's fault.
I think she said it was the 21st of November. Not sure. Hope she pops up soon.
Where? Or is it invisible now?
Does't look burned--just nicely toasted. Deborah, don't let her blame you! LOL
Well, it turned about 5 shades darker than what it started.
Looks very good in the pictures. To dark for what you wanted?
LOL. I'm just glad you didn't set your kitchen on fire like I did last year! I blamed the whole coop I was in on Dave's Garden! LOL I couldn't pull myself away from the computer trying to write my order!
Did your kitchen smell like burnt wood?
No, it's going to be fine... the oven wasn't set hot enough to make it smell bad... the pot I had it laying across is going to need some work to get all the water sediment out of it... but it's going to be fine...
YIKES... I'm glad I didn't burn the house down either... sheesh !!!
Morning everyone. I lost this thread, I had to go looking for it, because it did not pop up on my home page??? I started reading from yesterday afternoon. ROTHFMBO!!! So funny!
I started working with wood in highschool. I was the first female in school to sign up for woodshop, and boy did I have fun learning all the stuff. Last day of school the teacher cut off his thumb, then told us, Don't do as I do!!!
So I have my own tools here, and every Christmas I ask Santa for something else. Last year I got my router, and year before was a dremmel tool! Hmmmmmmmmm, what should I ask for this year? I think I need a nice sander!
Marion, I got so many links for fabric. Thank you very much!!! Nice colors, and designs.
Now I have forgotten everyting else I read, so I will go and catch up with all the other threads.
Jaye, hurry and get well, we miss you. If your sick, who is watching all those babies?
BJ, what are you doing with the raffia, and why are you burning it?
Take care
LK
Stacey reminded me that I might have forgotten to thank someone for compliments on the costume, if so thanks for the compliments on the costume.
I’m not sure who taught me, but I can sew by hand and machine, do counted stitch embroidery (I can kind of do free hand embroidery, but not well), knit (recent), and a few other things. Mom tried to teach me to crochet, but I never got beyond a single strand rope.
Jaye, ironing isn’t needed much these days. I maybe iron a couple times a year. I do know how to iron, and I will eventually teach Sage, but I have to figure out where I stuck the iron every time I need it; most things do just fine with a couple extra min. in the dryer.
Deborah made me burn it... I was curling it for the wreath I'm making.
Wasn't burned too bad, so I can still use it, though...
Ironing? Isn't that something that you only do when sewing?
Linda Kay was that the type site you were looking for? If not then more will come I am sure. Those are my favorite but there are others.
Laura, what patience you must have to have made those costumes!!!! Nice job.
Where is Kathy? Is she okay?
It took a lot a work, but I enjoy creating things. I think next year I'm going to try to make a new dress and cloak, and make the head dress from a wig cap.
Marion they are perfect, but you can always feel free to send me more. One can never have enough fabric shops to browsr through!!! ^_^
BJ, was the name of the thread site called threadart?
Thank you
LK
Yes, LK... Threadart.com
Now, I've got some errands to run with my son... bbl.
