Whoo Hooo Me first???
I'm home finally

wedding was nice and reception was good too there were a few glitches but that is to be expected
good thing we went as I had my daughters purse and a bag all night with me and had it handy when needed.

after it was over there was everything to get cleaned up as far as cameras, the kids room of crafts and gifts and such so we had stuff in our room and Shelly had stuff in her room.
I came home with a Canon EOS IX Lite camera and film for it as a thank you for all our help last night plus 2 of the flower arrangements.

Sistahs, we've been craving for good buttered popcorn. I wonder what are your favorite brands.

Hi everyone,
Gosh I am so backed up with everything again...

Been just trying to keep busy...

Thank you Marion and Jaye for the tight hugs yesterday.

Cindy, Hugs going to you and Tia too, Will continues extra prayers.

Look at all the beautiful Fat Quaters being sent/received!!
LOL, Deborah...Yep you cought the crafting/sewing table disappearing syndrom
heheh, it ok to step away from the table now and again.
mine is completely caotic and I HAD to move to the kitchen table
lol...and the table in sunroom too.

...Anyway, I am finalizing mine this week, it is a must finish in my mind list.
and my gosh, I've got what I wan't to do for Wreath swap going on, and some have already finiished,
Geesh, i am behind...heavy laughter, that is never unusual for me/(lol that a little secret of mine, I'm a real slow poke)
Until I have to get it done.

Anyway, i hope you are all enjoying the evening...I am about to start an outdoor fire

Oh Phylis, thanks for the hugs too and by the way, I absolutley loved your Halloween T'shirt...So funny and true, eheheh, but I am so glad you weren't by that lil guy, and I am glad he's no longer a passanger for everyones safety...

...Oh oh, you gals moved while I was typing!! Found youuuu.

yumm buttered popcorn...can't have any so please have an extra handful for me, extra butter too!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

That's funny Judy. Jaye moved us while you were typing. That's happened to me before too!
Got my fabric now I'm ready to cut and send it. Still afraid to cut it. Got to go and reread BJ's email to me. I even had to call BJ today while I was at Walmart. When I asked for 100% cotton fat quarters that lady just looked at me and said they didn't carry those any more. BJ to the rescue!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Phyllis-glad you made it safely:)

Judy-nice to see you here!!

My fave is movie theater popcorn tante Jay-of air popped with melted butter-YUMMY!!!

OK-bringing the pillow with me-looking for another thanksgiving themed fabric that is fun and whimsical-if you find some get it for me PULEASE:)

oh butter lovers from ummmm dang for got the maker LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Jaye... Don prefers the Act II or Orville Redinbocker... either one, and make it EXTRA BUTTER...

Judy... so glad to see ya sistah... ((((( huggs )))) from Texas...

Yep, Deborah had to call from Walmart... but ya know, I wish she wasn't in Walmart... was great to hear her voice... just can't talk when you shop.

Glad your home Phyllis... and good deal about the camera...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Judy, don't you know by now some of our sistahs are just fast achievers!! I know I need to take lessons from them!
Deborah, the VIP and Cranston brands sold at WM are all 100% cotton. I know some Walmart are doing away with some crafts, like embroidery, but the fabrics are their main sellers.
Okay niece, what brand? I like mine extra buttery and Kel likes his plain. Sometimes I go down the popcorn aisle and just pick up all the brands available there..and threw away a bunch!!! Maybe someone here knows some brands only ordered online.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My nieces and nephew in France LOVE Act II. We send them boxes every year.
Wonder if Walmart shows their fabric online?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

The kind you get at the theater-no brand-like AMC or Regal-whatever theater you have:)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I've never seen those brands at grocery stores. Do the theaters sell their own brand of microwaveable popcorns. Been a long time since we've been to a movie.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow!! I really live in the boondocks!! Just read online many Walmart branches are dropping their fabric dept.! Ours here is expanding the paper craft (scrapbooking) while dropping the purses and embroidery aisles!
Now this ain't fair. After cornering the market on fabric and forcing a few quilting stores oob, they're doing this?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Jaye-ROFL!!! THey don't sell their own kind, you have to go the the theater, see a movie to get the popcorn:) I wonder though if you went to one if they would just sell you the popcorn w/o seeing a movie-I know Target has good popcorn too:)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Uh okay.. thanks niece :D Though Target is just too far :(

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It's not the popcorn at the movies...it's the butter... find out what kind of butter they use on it.

YES... I agree... Walmart put a lot of pharmacies out of business several years ago... they put out a lot of "mom & pop" places... and several grocery stores... the fabric stores went with them... NOW..they're going to leave us who live out in these "remote" places stranded for craft supplies and fabrics... even though they don't carry the best of the best, they do carry the jot em down stuff that will do till we can get to the big city... I'm really pissed about it, and have fired off several letters to Walmart... you can do that online if you want... right from their web site.

Glenview, IL

Thanks Sistahs!
Love to come and have a good laugh, cry and lots of chatter
You all are great!!

OMGosh, one year we got on this kick for a promotional mailing at work, We sent out a movie and video tape to every school in the nation...Till this very day, as much as i love popcorn I can't stand it...Roflol.
We had box upon boxes of microwavable popcorn, the job took like 3 months to complete I was so glad to be done with that project!
Think We sent out like 20,000 yep you read right 20,000 packages of buttered popcorn, and the movie too.

Yikes...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oooo... wonder why I wasn't on that mailing list?... I seem to be on everyone else's list...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Judy, at least you didn't have to microwave ALL of them!!
In my search for great popcorn online, it leads me to this
http://www.butterflavoringlunginjury.com/ Whoever would have thought of Popcorn Lung Disease!!!
You are so right BJ. Think I'll send in my 2 cents worth.

Glenview, IL

Hi BJ...
I was really bummed when Our Super Walmart went up here...
Was so excited because i knew they had awsom crafting section. And there wasn't one in mine,
Man o man was i disappointed.

...And it is such a shame that embroidery (the old fashioned) way is going out...I guess with all the fancy machines it will happen.
But you know, I think it's like anyother thing, it will come back.

...Aw BJ, unless you were a teacher at the time...you didn't get any, lol beleive it or not, I think I only got one bag out of it, but then I was sick of it by then that...I would have sent all mine to you...feel better?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

PLEASE DO, Jaye... you won't get a reply, but at least you'll get it off your chest... I just wonder if anyone really reads the mail there at Walmart.

You can also check with your Walmart Manager... ask if the fabric/craft depts are being deleted at your store... I think they're all downsizing, but not all are being deleted... anyway, if they are... you can file a formal complaint right there at the store as well.

Glenview, IL

OH My Gosh Jaye...

I think if I would have read that article back then, i would have refused the project!! Only one other time i refused and that was spray mounting posters...Loved to do it, but the facility at the time didn't have proper ventilation, lol we did get the a machine for small jobs after that.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Aww, Judy... how generous of you... yes, I do feel better... thank you.

So, you do the old fashioned embroidery by hand? I've heard of your beautiful work ... and I think I remember seeing a pic of one you posted here... I'm so impressed... cause noone does that anymore, but you... you keep it up though, cause I think it's a dying art... and you're stitches will be worth millions one day.
BTW... I have a huge stash of embroidery floss... want it?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I was looking for purse handles one day last week, and remembered seeing them at my closest Walmart in Whiteville. Well, they no longer carried them, instead had 3 aisles of paper crafting stuffs! Now, this is a VERY small town, which Tina in MB can vouched, and I'm sure there's a small following of scrap bookers, but it doesn't call for the disappearance of other crafts! I did ask the sales people there, and as you know, you get uncommitted replies. The best was, whatever CEOs decide!
I'm just glad there's still the garden section!

Found this for those interested in knowing what's considered the best tasting butter popcorn.
http://www.consumersearch.com/microwave-popcorn

Glenview, IL

OH MY, Sure, I will take all the floss i can get.
If you are sure you want to give it up, I will send you postage.

Thank you, thank you thank you!!!

It's a funny thing, I don't have fond memories at all about learning to do embroidery, but I found it to be one of the most stress relievers for me...At the time I picked it back up was all just to add a bit of zest to a boring piece of material...and OHWAH, found how much I love it...so yep will definatley continue, and I have taught my kids a few stitches too...Hand Embroidery will live on in my neck of the woods.
Want to see the Hug I sent to Sharran??

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Of course Judy!
I signed the petition online to save the fabric depts. at WM.

Glenview, IL

Oh, Have been searching through my photos...The onnly one I could find here is the Hug, work in process.

This piece was designed by my daughter. She is 15 and love art...Well one day was going through her work and asked her if I may use that specific design for Sharon...
Together we talked about what was it was in her mind and what it was in my mind. Sharon was going through a really tough time, then got real sick and all i wanted to do was give her a hug...hard to do since she is in KY and I am in IL...So, I decided to embroider her a hug anytime she needs it...I figured she can use it in rain, shine, across the water or on land, whenever she needed it.

Anyway that is why I chose this particular design, it was done on the front.
Geesh, Will have to show you the rest tomorrow from work, that is where completed photo is.

Judy, my mom and g'ma both did hand embroidery... and passed that skill on to me... I started when I was too young for Kindergarten yet... but I haven't done that in so many years, I can't remember... and now I have an embroidery machine... so, I'll never pick it up again, I'm sure... I'll get this stash sent your way soon...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

OMG... that's sooo nice !!!... is it going to be a pillow? so she can hug it? You do beautiful work.

Glenview, IL

Thank You BJ,
Wow...you did start real young!!

No, it is an actual shawl...I wanted her to be wrapped in a hug and a shawl will do just that.
Sharon, help my Breenie and me with an issue so, I did one of her arms and one of my arms and whalla a hug was born!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes... mom believed in teaching us things young... I was sitting at the sewing machine as soon as I could reach the foot feed... sitting on the edge of the chair, I think I was 6 yo... made my first blouse out of two handkerchiefs. BUT, I was interested in all that stuff too... would sit and watch her and g'ma for hours on end doing their stitching. I'm sure she taught me just to occupy me, so I wouldn't bug her so much.

Glenview, IL

OH MY Gosh, BJ...i have to giggle because that is why i taght my kids how to do stuff...LOL, they have been using a sewing machine since they were very young, about 6...LOL, I figured it was good to let them see why everything works, keep them occupied so I could my stuff too. Worked well Don't you think? Not to mention over the years, helps with math and learn to follow instruction!

hehehe, moms are so, "sew" smart!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... yep... MOMs are "sew" smart...

I also remember her telling me that when I wasn't even walking yet, she'd open her bottom drawer of her sewing machine where she kept her stash of zippers... it would occupy me for hours zipping, unzipping, wrapping them around my neck... unzip some more...
And buttons strung on a string would make me happy... and old thread spools she would paint different colors then string them too... come to think of it, she was really cheap... didn't have to buy me any toys... wahhh...
I never missed toys, guess I was content just having something in my hands.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Funny... I did the same thing with my kids... they were boys, and not interested in sewing though... my granddaughters spent a fair share of their time playing in the zipper drawer though.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I would like to "second" every thought stated above: petition Walmart about fabric departments, teach young ones to sew and embroidery and crochet!!! I pick up mine every now and then jus to relax--especially since it is getting cooler in the evenings. Just have to limit doing it long periods of time because of my hands. There are some "arts" that are dying out that really bother me!! One reason I tormented my grandmother to teach me to make biscuits in a dough bowl. Went from lava rocks, to small stones to finally eatable biscuits. Oh yes, mustn't forget the clay target stage.

Judy your work in incredible. A true heirloom to have to pass on to future generations. I like that aspect of doing handwork.

BJ, sounds like we might be related. LOL Mom did the same with me--inspite of the fact she never finished a dress she started for me when I was in grade 6. I can still remember it.

Tink, will be on the lookout for pillows.

Jaye, in one of my magazines recently they had a pattern for an ice cream cone quilt. It was so cute--yeap used polka dots, stripes and everything for the ice cream--mostly pastel sherbert colors. You almost wanted to taste them.

Oh Phyllis how nice--a new camera. That was so thoughtful and sweet. Hope you aren't to worn out from the weekend. Yuck work day for most tomorrow.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Judy, you never cease to amaze me and all of y'all that sew. Well, I'm coming along ok and the butterfly bell pull Jaye sent me. I have had to take out a few stitches but I wanted it to be almost correct as the picture. I think I will add a few butterflies.

Staceypoo, you are probably in bed and I hope you scroll up to read this. Your themed pillows are a cute idea! Have you thought about making themed door wreaths, not just for Christmas but for valentines, St. Patti day, July 4th, etc?

I though sewing on a machine was a dying art. I'm shocked to find all of y'all in the know! I'm just so thankful I have a machine now to learn how to sew. I bought my DDIL a sewing machine for Christmas. It wasn't as nice as the one y'all gave me, but I do hope she will try to use it. Maybe after she finds out I'm using mine she'll start to use hers.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

The Sewing machine I bought my DDIL was last years Christmas present. I always buy folks something I really want badly but never buy for myself.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Except men's whitie tighties.
