Birdie on my windowsill, with the little yellow bill, cocked his shiney eye and said "Ain't you 'shamed you sleepyhead?" LOL My grandmammy always sang that to wake me up...

What???? I'm the first one up today? Where are you Donna, Ella? Oh well, I already made coffee so here's the pot! Made homemade cinnamon rolls too so help yourself!

I have nothing to do today! Ain't that something? Been busy for weeks but have caught up on most everything I think. Now I dreaming of things I will winter sow and saving milk jugs. Do any of you winter sow?

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL Phyllis, we cross posted! Good morning!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Karen isn't kinda early for you??
What do you do or how do you use the milk jugs??

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes Phyllis it is...I have been a late sleeper for years, but recently I just "pop up" way too early for me....Here is a link from the Texas forum that was posted this week and explains it very well. You can use 2-liter coke bottles too...

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917946/

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Morning H & H’s

Karen so glad you made the coffee, I slept a little late this morning. Maybe I should every morning cause you made fresh cinnamon rolls too and I love them. Phyllis I’ve been saving my 1 gallon water jugs for winter sowing for a while now. I have 20 or 30 in the basement to get ready. There is a whole forum on winter sowing with stickies at the top that have great directions and a list of supplies.

Wakey wakey everyone, looks like a cold but sunny day here today. The sun is just now peeking over the trees and they are predicting a whopping high of 47 here today.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Good Morning! Mmmmm coffee is great this morning! MMmmmm cinnamon rolls, too??! thx Karen.. I should know, once I hit the couch, it won't be long till I'm zzzzzzz.. Phyllis, still thinking of you and hope you have great memories to offer some comfort. Our freezing temps the last couple nights really put the "ugly" to the annuals I had left outside.. wish they could have held out a couple more days for Debra to see the pretty, but most everything was froze.. had a few things on the front porch, protected by the roof.. Guess the growing season is officially over..(cept not in the basement).. No Becky that DD pic was a week or so ago.. My first double bloom since my first year growing brugs, it was quite exciting! Everything that's coming in IS in. I got most everything. Debra and I decided our visit also makes us more determined for a big Hottie RU next year. We both have the same camera, and Mel took pics with both.. Debra, I got one good pic (except for ME being in it)! lol Hope you don't mind..

Well now we know what you look like auntB................... I have a ton of plants indoors as we were suppose to have a frost last night but that did not happen thank god.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Good Morning. Thank you for the hot cup of coffee and the cinnamon rolls. One of my favorites. : )

Snow. Oh my, I feel for those of you wakign up to that this morning. Will make some hot chocolate for those of you that need to shovel and warm back up this morning. I sure do not like that winter has come early. We're 20 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year. Supposed to 50 at night not wakign up to frost and freeze.

For thos etravelign early this morning, please becareful. Sure there probably gonna be lots of places of black ice and other slick spots. Hoping for a safe day for you all.

Soon as it warms up some am gonan try and head to Home Depot and see if ours has any of that Orchid Moss stuff I been reading about.

If anybody has enough snow on the ground to make a snowball , can I have one. Haven't had a good snowball fight in many years.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

What a great picture of you two, so nice in the jungle. I know you hotties had a wonderful day, I am so looking forward to the whole gang getting together. I just got caught up with last night, Sandy glad you had a few minutes to get those post on, hope there is not a serious problem with your pc. Dana I hate cooking mess to, not so much on me but in the kitchen. It is strange I’m always making a big mess in there with repotting and seedlings. Have a great time with your DH, how long do you get to have him home?
Beck you were the last one out of the room last night, hope you get to sleep in this morning. Debra, post when you can you are such a busy hottie. Peg, I know you are there somewhere, hope it was just work that kept you from posting yesterday, we miss ya.
Morning James, no frost for you, lucky guy

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Morning Ella I crossed with ya, no snow yet here on the coast. I’ll have plenty come January to throw some great snowballs at you.

I’m off for the Chiro in town today and have to run some errands on the way back. Just might have to take a peek in a Lowes, we don’t have one out here in the sticks.

Have a great day.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Nope no frst I am thanking my lucky stars

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My brug is fully open thismorning! But she doesn't have twangers! I thought they all did! I'll post a pic later!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Morning Hotties ands see two gorgeous ones pictured up there! I am glad Bonnie and Deb had a great time, just like Donna and I did.

Phyllis sorry about your family and now you have to make that long trip to the town you do not like. We did not get frost here or snow, so I am thankfull for that. Today all plants are coming in, I can not stand the though of loosing any!

Audrey, pic please and good morning to all of those that woke up before me, hee hee, Donna, James, Star, Karen and all of you out there. Enjoy the day! Love from NY

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Good morning, work, work work, oh well. The paycheck will be nice! Keith is coming home today! LOL... I'm excited, now ya'll know I excite easily. No I've really missed him more this time than usual, or so it seems, so am counting down the hours.

Freeze really did a number on a lot of things here, except for the tomatoes and brugs, and they are the ones I was cutting, harvesting and working so hard on! My passi has five new blooms on it this morning.

Phyllis, so sorry for your family (Hug!) Yes, on wintersowing! Hopefully Louise will be back soon, because she is our expert on this and got me started on it. Bonnie and Debra, sounds like such fun! Beck, chili can be frozen for later. You don't have to eat it all now. :)

I will be MIA again until tomorrow, but this time, it is not work. Everybody have a good day and stay warm. Lov, Peg

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Chili can be frozen. I put about a bowl full in a ziplock pint bag, smoosh it flat, and freeze. I do it all the time. The you can just nuke it, and you have hot bowl of chili.
Very easy.

Mornin all you Hotties!!

I sure hope theres still a cup of coffee... and you early birds didn't drink it all... mmmnnn cinnamon rolls.. are they gone too??...LOL...I finally decided to drag this ol body out of bed... I am kinda like a really "OLD" woman this morning and very slow..hehe... have no idea if it froze here or not.. sure hope not! It's kinda sad to baby a plant for months, and 1 night can kill it dead...

Phyllis.. glad you were the first in the room, and got the fire going.. it's chilly out there
Karen... man you got up early too... cute lil song!.. I never had anyone sing to me when I was young... you must have had a wonderful childhood!
Donna.. have a good one in town.. hope the chiro helps and no ouchies!.. yeah.. gotta go by Lowes!!
Ella... I hear you.. I sure did a scrambling act trying to get the plants in... the whole year has been weird!!
Debra.. gosh .. you are soo pretty.. we already knew Bonnie is a beauty.. I know you both were like school girls all day.. just a giggling..lol
Bonnie.. say your starting to get frozen.. huh?? OHHH That is going to be a sad day for me when that happens..
Peg.. so glad to see you are still alive!! Bet you have missed Keith!! That happens when we get older.. even though you aren't that old yet!!..lol
Clemmie!!..yep.. you better get those plants in!! hope you have help too! Doing it all my yourself is going to give you a backache!
Audey.. nooo they all don't have twangers, but the smell makes up for it, right??
Linda Kay..yes.. I know chili can be frozen... and that is where the rest went..lol.. but I am kinda like Donna.. and don't like to cook... and besides.. chili and soup taste better the next day.. and even better the next.. but then after that I am past tired of it....

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Clem...No I didn't but I did try and warn you... I'll take the snow over the ice anyday...
That's one of the reasons I can't make the trip....
Other than both of us being sick and it being so far...

Bonnie and Deb sounds like you's had a nice time....

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Mornin' all...finally making my way over to this thread!! Was telling Clemen ya'lls thread move FAST...mercy - give me strength to keep up...LOL Brought all the Brugs in...still not sure where everyone's going...will need to prune come "slightly" - I truly hope CG's remaining buds open even indoors - that scent is simply intoxicating...I love it!!! Slow I know, but I figured out that bud vases are nice for rooting individual cuttings - also easier "room" wise...we'll see if it works. I picked up the things to do the bubbler method - just need to find the "right container to do it in. What have ya'll found is the best way to "mark" the cuttings (their names) while rooting???

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Hello all.. you do move fast here for me...difficult to keep up. I really do read everything but it is hard to respond to all... you do make me want to run down and get some sweet rolls and coffee.. darn it.. I just lost 15 pounds...

not feeling tops after moving everything in for the cold that never arrived! Had to clean everything first! false alarms infuriate me! Now most plants are back outside.. chilly at the moment 48 but warming into the 70's.. plants are much happier outside!

I used one of those little buckets they sell at halloween for a bubbler.. little about 1 gallon things.. bought the cheapest aquarium pump at walmart.. a package of the air hose and the cheap air stones.. some thin strips of duct tape strips cross hatch across the top to separate the cuttings and hold them upright and separate close enough together to hold the cuttings snugly in place at the level in the water I wanted them and stuck the air stone down in the water... CHEAP and easy.. very small , easy to re fill with water and I was able to root about 10 cuttings in it one year... they got really nice roots too! I could move the tape if I needed and pull it off to remove a cutting... not exceptionally simple with the tape but once I had it figured out which piece of tape to move for which cutting it was simple!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

wow tammie, I would never of thought of taping off the tubs! good idea! thanks! I have all that so will try it.. oh cept the air stones... whats that? (sneaking in from work) gosh it is rather warm here today after a hard freeze sheese!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

I've noticed people use black marker and write the name on the cuttings...??
Some tie tags to them...
Karen probably has a good idea as she just aquired lots of cutting a little while ago...
Guess whatever works easiest for you...

Went outside and came back in....
brrrrr way too cold and windy out there to do anything...LOL

Clem hope you got your babies in before any damage...

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Mine are marked all kinds of ways, phyllis.. as long as they are marked is good for me.. gosh hope clemmie doesn't get lost outside LOL ... heres some blankies for ya all...Chantell, I have starts all over in anyting that holds water LOL...
