Best Thing/Worse Thing and What did I learn today? #65

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm so laughing...wondered what had happened to you??? got all those swaps under control and posted...

Stacey if I had been talking negatively, a few would have joined in and revelled in my posts, but because they were positive, about the kindness of people and certainly we've all experienced it here on DG, on this thread and others about the kindness and loving of people they chose to believe it was lies...hurtful at that time, but I plugged on and look what I found, BUT that feeling still rests within and when Gita asked why I posted photo's with almost every post, I think it was twofold...1- I enjoy sharing my day and 2- seeing is believing right?

OHHHHH forgot to say Sharon will either be operated on Tues. Nov.4th or Nov. 11th..she'll find out today..said if everything went ok she'd be in the hospital about 1 week and then a few months at home recouping..want her to have inhouse care...so she was in a better frame of mind last night when I called...

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty, glad to hear that, hope everything goes well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

So do I...it was so nice to talk to her for a few minutes last night without her crying..she didn't say anything about the kids so guess she knows it also upsets us...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol and Debbie, thinking of you both with these halloween goodies, nice to do with the kids, might even try a few myself on Friday afternoon while waiting for trick or treaters...

I especially like this one, my boys would so get a kick out of it..

LOL, Fairy!

So glad to hear about Sharon Betty.

Well, I haven't tried to assemble one (VS) as of yet, was waiting to hear from you.
So maybe tonight I will give it a whirl. LOL, you might be bombarded with d-mails though...I know you have class tonight so will be patient, looks rather easy fom your pictures. OHHHH, how cool someone left you Beads!

...Was nice, I was asked to enter some more orders, then to help organize someones list, said sure, please! phfft, that was two hours ago. still waiting, hohum.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cute Judy, you must be going to have your lunch shortly??? don't mean to really assemble them all, thought you could glue the dowel into the base...then ever so slightly, just tap the nail I sent into the top hole just so it grabs...you need most of the nail for the head anchor....lol...now don't go finish them now, you'll not have any to join in with us once everyone has their kits...I know you...

Liz, I'm missing you, come on and play..

Aussie Laura, your posts are reflecting some of your old self...you are getting a little stronger aren't you..postal service to Australia sucks..remember the soldering iron I sent you and it took what ??? slow boat to China - 6 months or so? one has to be patient when living in Australia right?

(Cathy), MO

Hi everyone. Trying to catch up. Again! LOL!
Betty I love those cards! I tried to follow along on the instructions and pics but somehow missed where you get the templates??? I really like that ball ornament one.
Hi Laura, Judy, Ruby and everyone else. Gotta admit I just skimmed, so i'm sure I missed something important

Hey everyone, I just got this email from a friend warning about some Halloween candy that in circulation that contains the drug/chemical that killed all those badies in China a few weeks ago. I have verified this on SNopes.com so I thought y'all would be a good avenue to get this info out.

Betty, Carole & Gilli - this candy is made in Canada!!

There is a new warning put out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency....

Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold Milk Chocolate coins are being recalled due to the fact that they contain Melamine, the ingredient in milk product that has caused many infant (and dog) deaths in china. These candies are sold at Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar stores. please make sure to check your childrens halloween candy and DO NOT LET THEM EAT THE PIRATE COINS (you know the ones wrapped in the shiny gold foil) and please let other parents know about

Sooo-was that a non on the card pattern??;)

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG where in the world am I posting...Linda Kay please tell me as you asked me a question..must be back on another thread...shucks..off to copy it and put it where it was intended..so energized after almost 14 hrs. of rest...that I'm confused...lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

ok here we go...

OMG I'm just so excited, went to that material shop you know the one that says he's been in business for 51 years and he's retiring BUT only once he sells his inventory, wanted 20 yards and he had a new roll that had 27.5 on it said he'd give me a good deal and 5 of blue and 5 of green ..imagine...all for $268.55 - didn't charge me tax...so although it's a little more than I needed today, I will have enough to make the Mrs. Santa dress which I have the nicest white fur left from Caleb's costume for the trim and of course I was ahead of the game and purchased Mrs. Santa's wig when I was in Frankenmuth a few weeks ago...ooops phone

Victoria Harbour, ON

can you imagine, someone just called and disturbed my eating chicken souvlaki/rice/greek salad! hmmm

We were on a rush errand..I did the material shop, Suzanne had to go to Canadian Tire so she picked up the 'wet saw' for cutting ceramic tile, need to do the washroom lol - picked up lunch from cafeteria downstairs, under new management, food and prices great...so now it's time to unwind...see what happens when you give me an aft. eve. and night to sleep...I'm soooo energized...ther...

OH my gosh!!! Someone re-engergized our Bunny, now we are in for a real show of non stop crafting!!

Betty, you are too cute...Right now your in B,W and L!! You just posted about the wonderful buy at fabric store in VS thread ...trying to have lunch and "work" at same time...LOL,

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cat, those cards were purchased at Michaels..regular cards I believe 50 cards/envelops for $8.99 or so, some I purchasedin plastic containers at the $$$$ store 5 cards/5 envelopes and a few little trinkets within..trinkets I've kept for little kids visiting/craft project...

Then white card stock I cut out and with exacto knife I cut the design out...

I have between 10-15 patterns ... I could send them to you...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, was on a wrong thread...yes, if you wish pattern templates I can send you what I have...

Jeannine, omg, will have to talk to DIL as she often purchases candies at Cosco...you say the ingredients were from China but manufactured here...wow...something to really be cautious about...now someone not long ago gave me some of those chocolate dollars, think I have a few of them in a cookie cannister for a sugar fix..out they go..

Victoria Harbour, ON

45 minutes to go, Judy the energy bunny is starting to wane out...everybody has a slow down period during each day, mine is around 2pm and again at 6pm if I can make it through those 2 times I've got it made...what's yours?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Mine's all day!^_^

Glenview, IL

heheh... 45 min for me too.
Mines about 9:30 A.M. and 4:PM...
The little half hour ride is a good re-energizer for me...
But then again, depends on how busy I am doing the day.

Audrey, all day? LOL, thats me on weekends.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Well, it's a little better, now that I have the new meds!!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Since postage is so expensive from your place and you are sending templates for the cards to Fairy I will get them from her. That way you get two for the price of one!
So glad yu got some rest and a feeling Bettized today. I don't know about that fabric store though. We may have to move you back to the old work location so there are fewer temptations. I am going to have trouble enough picking out those fat quarter! Just get me in a fabric store and I can spend the day thinking up fun things to do; then reality cuts in and I remember what is one my plate already.
Did get all my Christmas Blocks done and a surprise or two for Fairy to boot so my days were well spent.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Audrey it sounds like you and I must be on the same meds.....I have to force myself to get up and get anything done......and there are so many things I would like to get done.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will do Janice, I'll get out all my pkgs. and make some..so far
-
Cat
Janice/Stacey
Jeannine

Right?

I'll bring them in tomorrow and make some up..I've a few mailings to do on Friday..let's hope I can include these..girls are talking softly and I can feel my head nod..think I'll have a sleep on my way home..if it weren't for the girls finishing off the 'witch' for Friday I'd have cancelled...

Stacey you would go crazy at that shop, I keep trying to think of who the gentleman reminds me off...on of the musketeers I think the one with the little piece of hair on his chin, yep that's who..anyway what a haven for deals..I only run in/run out for specifics but one Friday when I drive in I'll go and look around .. so many expensive fabrics almost for nothing...

You are right about moving away from here, the nieces were just saying now that we are leaving shortly we find all kinds of places to go...

Next Friday we are going to SKorr's..chocolate factory , it's open to the public..with Christmas just around the corner they have baking chocolate, seconds etc.... then Ganz factory that opened yesterday and will be open all of November so yes, maybe it's good you get me out of here but I've more places in Barrie..lol...

Don't forget with being on my own it makes a big difference, the groceries we'd buy as a household, entertainment, boating, skidooing, restaurants, clothing for special events etc. etc. being alone, all of that is gone so I've only me to think about...almost just me..do find others to spoil from time to time...

Sometimes it's very lonely, but that loneliness has left for most part because I've found all you dear friends, it's almost like I'm never alone..rarely hit depression moods...see what earthly angels you all and my nearby friends are...life savors..

Victoria Harbour, ON

I went through a period of time as well where it took all my energy to want to get up let alone get up and do something...then I started to FORCE myself..odd that the more you do the more energy you seem to have...

I am promising myself to play this weekend, by that, do a little bit, sit, watch t.v. etc. let's hope that happens

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are brave Janice saying you've something for Stacey..lol...will she bug you to know what it is...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Trisha, since he changed my anti depressant to effexa, 75 mg. I have more get up and go! I'm not sleepy all day, and I do little stuff that I didn't even think of doing before! BTW. my kitchen's clean!! LOL!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, so glad to hear your meds are finally working! Nice to see you here, and posting.
Take care
LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

It makes a big difference when you find the right stuff! He told me he was giving me the "big girl dose" this time! He's a nut, but I love him!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Aren't meds wonderful..not on any thank goodness but am sure I'll need some kind of drug eventually for me probably to knock me out..lol

Just got home, don't want to start anything or get comfy, my glass will be arriving in the next 10-15 minutes...I at least better make an attempt at cutting out Christmas Carollers...at least one or two to keep them busy for tonight...so off I go..

Yes it is nice seeing you post her Audrey...we loooovveee new friends....

(Cathy), MO

Thanks so much Betty, but you gotta at least let me send you the postage amount!

Victoria Harbour, ON

No postage, it's fine, will fit in an envelope...well the girls just left, all happy with their witches...me, I'm happy, tired and get to go to bed earlier than expected...

A note awaited me, it was Cathy who said she dropped in to put Sailor out today and said she left me homemade stew...so, might have to treat myself, haven't had supper yet...I know, not good eating this late but girls arrived shortly after I did...

Ohhhh, see my 'pretties' lots of sewing to do...

After looking at all this material, I've decided because of the living room having green to do my Victorian Santa in green rather than the blue I already cut out and ready to decorate...I'm sure it will be a gift for someone...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning....

Victoria Harbour, ON

THIS IS FABULOUS!!!

It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula
Vista , CA . He wrote it for his third grade homework assignment, to
'explain God.' I wonder if any of us could have done as well?
[ .... and he had such an assignment, in California , and someone
published it, I guess miracles do happen ! ... ]

EXPLANATION OF GOD:
'One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the
ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on
earth. He doesn't make grownups, just babies. I think because they are
smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn't have to take up his
valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to
mothers and fathers.'

'God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot
of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at
times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV
because of this. Because he hears everything, there must be a terrible
lot of noise in his ears, unless he has thought of a way to turn it
off.'

'God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps
Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting his time by going over your
mom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.'

'Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are
any in Chula Vista . At least there aren't any who come to our church.'

'Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on
water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't
want to learn about God. They finally got tired of him preaching to them
and they crucified him But he was good and kind, like his father, and he
told his father that they didn't know what they were doing and to
forgive them and God said O.K.'

'His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had done and all his hard
work on earth so he told him he didn't have to go out on the road
anymore. He could stay in heaven. So he did. And now he helps his dad
out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for
God to take care of and which ones he can take care of himself without
having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important.'

'You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because
they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time.'

'You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy,
and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God!

Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going
to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the
beach until noon anyway.'

'If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very
lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp,
but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared, in
the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water
by big kids.'

'But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I
figure God put me here and he can take me back anytime he pleases.

And...that's why I believe in God.'

Good Morning my little hopped up 5yr old betty & all you other ladies!!:) I can't even imagine you at 5-Kinda like the roadrunner, eh??

Thanks for the patterns-I won't have time to this year, but maybe I can get some stuffies after Xmas on clearance and start some for next year:)

I don't know a ton about fabric, but if you say that is a deal for all that fabric, then WOOHOO!!!

My down time is at about 3pm and then about 8pm-I can usually recover from the first one, but the 2nd one tends to do me in more often then not....

One of these weekends, I am going to have to make a trip over to hang out with Betty:) Maybe I can absorb some crafty and some energy from her:)

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

On my way over to look after Dana..
loving this "why I believe in God" ..gave me a big grin..will have to finsish reading it when I get there..it only take about 12 minutes to drive there.

Crozet, VA

Hello to everyone - Betty, I love the God Essay. So cute and he really does seem to have a good handle on who and what God does.

We are getting closer to the weekend. Yippie....even though one day is the same as all others around here for the most part. I have not had a very productive week. I guess my body wants to still be on vacation and just laze around for the most part. I haven't cooked a meal since arriving home last Friday. I actually need to go grocery shopping before we have anything much to fix. I will be doing that later today. I also have a few other stops to make while I am out and about. I am getting tired just thinking about it.

Here is wishing a good day for each of you reading.

Ruby

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Ir's a good thing we "old dames" have Daves! I think we're all worn out, except Betty! I know my body plays out pretty early!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Good morning.
Betty, I enjoyed reading the 8 year olds essay on "Explaining God" That child summed God up well. I know his parents are proud.
Going to cutout my Victorian Santa pattern today.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

DEb, I have mine ready to dress him! Can't wait to get the parts! I want to make another one, how will I make the inside?

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Judy have you tried the peach sunny d! I love that one.

Truck day yesterday and it was a wild one. I am still tired this morning. Stood at the cashregister for almost 2 hours straight. Didn't know if I was coming or going. Check cash debit debit cash check and the beat goes on. So glad I have 8 days off and can do normal things at home.

You guys are so interesting to read. I just don't have time to always reply. But do think of you lots. Off to find some breakfast.
