Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Poor Betty! What a mess to come home to. Hope your knitting machine isn't too damaged. Bless your heart, if you don't have so much on your plate now. Sure wish we could all be there to help with the water clean up and packing of your nephew's bags.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Ok, it's not quite 8 am. I'm caught up and I have another hour to waste. Where is everyone?!

Glenview, IL

Oh Betty,
I hope you get a bit more rest in...
Sounds good that you had a nice 6hours in.

My gosh, finally got over freezing then woke several hours later, Was up till 2 AM...
Of course didn't want to wake up at 7.

It is unfortunate Betty, crossing my fingers you knitting machine dries.
Oh my goodness was that your brand new pinK top? Hopefully it will come off without any tears, tares, yikes(sp)
But I am glad you got to go visit Sharon.

It's cold here angain today, But whatever i had seems to be gone, thank goodness.

What you all up to today???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Question of the day...

˝ of the ENTIRE World's supply of 'this' is sold in the USA...what is it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy I'm sitting here patiently, with Suzanne not feeling good, and guess I look like h*&l, heard Paul say he just might send the 2 of us home..wishfull thinking as Suzanne has a 3pm appt. - maybe LeeAnn would do it...

The wind is up here, cold and they are calling for possible flurries..I'm either cold or hot so I've got that poor mini furnace turned up then down...

Brought Braedon and Caleb's costumes in this morning..left a message with Jeff to pick them up...nice to have them behind me...

Crozet, VA

Well, I give up. I am not going to even try to catch up on the ultra busy thread. I sat down for a few hours on Sunday and read from October 12 through about the 15th and still had gobs and gobs of reading to do.

Thought that I would just check in and let everyone know that I am home from our trip. We had a very good week. I am finding it a bit tough to get back in to my daily routine though. For the first time in about four years, I began sleeping well. I also spent a lot of the week just sitting around and taking it easy. That is kind of hard for me to do because I feel guilty if not being productive in some way. Anyway, I am suspecting a possible Urinary Tract Infection and will find out tomorrow when I visit my primary care doctor.

Gita, I did read all that you wrote about saving flower blooms to make potpourri. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I will definitely try it next year.

Hello to all others posting. Have missed you gals. i hope that everyone is doing well. I will try to keep up better now.

Ruby

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty, gas? beef? birth control?

Ruby, those suck, I was prone to them for awhile. Remember the cranberry juice and yogurt.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi all,
I'd say 'gas' too as the answer to the question.

Well I am back from the dentist..had three teeth pulled ...bridge taken out. (it was loose and roots couldn't hold it anymore) .and new partial denture put in. I am still frozen a bit..and am not to eat anything solid today..go back tomorrow for a check-up and adjustment.
Pretty happy with the way it all went.

Came across this nice quote in one of my books.

"The best thing about this later age is time...
time to spend with a flower bed or a friend,
time to play with a cello or a child,
time to live my life fully,
and time to give back to a world that's been good to me"

Katherine Q Lyons.

and another..

"Gratitude is the hearts memory"

I love being retired..

This is my Princess Lily or Alstromeria..it bloomed since I brought it inside.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ruby, now that's you've enjoyed NYC and Atlantic City (especially boardwalk) are you planning any other? infections..yuk...until I had surgery on my kidneys I had continuous infections..my specialists all recommended cranberry juice...we have a cranberry farm up in Bala not from from my home...they sell undeluted juice, I would freeze it in containers, take out what was needed and add water to it so had lots of it to drink... don't feel badly about resting Ruby..you deserve it...are you on a new type of medication that is now allowing you to sleep better?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Beautiful quote Carol...OMG I'm so glad that the dentist appt. went well...freezing is a wonderful thing isn't it...when it starts to weaken lets hope you only have a bit of discomfort..amazing what they can do these days...almost like ones own teeth..bet you made yourself some homemade soup???

Doesn't look as though I'm going home early, Paul just gave me some calls to make...but that's ok, dozed off a few times...infact just jumped when he came in with a note for me...lol

Did I tell you all the seasonal passes for Canada's Wonderland came in today..oh happy days..know the kids will enjoy them..even the big kids..lol..should have gotten myself one as well..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty we have wind and bad weather warnings all over here. From 8 tonight to 8 Wednesday night, lake effect snow. Storm coming from Buffalo area....and another coming up the east coast just east of Rochester. So, if you need supplies better get them and cuddle up tonight and rest. (Doctor Debbies orders. LOL) it is down to 37 here already.

Letting you all know Huck is doing much better and attempted to eat my lunch, that is a positive sign as he is not much of a human food person.

Debbie

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

What was the answer to your quiz Betty? I've been scratching my head over it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hello from home...thank goodness...Debbie I'm so glad that Huck is on the mend....his little snack could have been deathly...omg you could hardly hold the car on the road..few flurries near Barrie...are calling for a snow storm..glad I'm cozy comfy in my house, shortly to be in p.j.'s and bed..picked up a can of chicken noodle soup so that always makes one feel better...so thankful to Paul for letting us come home early...

No water in basement so that's a good thing...

Deborah...the answer was 'diamonds'

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

So nice to hear you are home cozy and comfy....ahhhhhhhhh..chicken noodle soup...best thing when you are feeling in need of comfort food.

I had some of my own homemade lentil soup..and some mashed potatoes..instant..and tea..

Yes the wind is wicked..here too...no flurries predicted for here though..

Debbie..glad to hear your Huck is ok now..
and Judy is feeling better too..and my freezing is out and not much discomfort at all..

I'm told by my neighbour that gas is down to 90.6 cents for a liter.

Glenview, IL

Hi ya Carol, so glad to hear your dental work went well!
Hopefull your partial will fit real nicely.
And your Princess Lilly is awsom.

Oh Betty, i am so happy you are home early and going to take in a good rest...not too long or you'll be up all night.
...Oh yeah, We did find the Wolf Painting you did. Steve loved it, He want's to hang it at the cottage. Will send it with him next weekend. They are going to paint the kitchen and I beleive start the flooring. OH my forgot to tell you all, We are not able to save the original kitchen flooring...There are several places that do not match do to them having previous Hatch doors, we are thinking to a food cellar, (no longer there)

and, OMG I have had an intensly aggitating day!! That order that took me all afternoon to do yesterday, I had to redo it because it looked like i entered it in wrong, which I know I didn't...OK, so was thinking well mistakes happen, and I am not firmiliar with the program, so anyway, reentered the entire thing again, very tedious...hit save, went to check it and the exact same thing happened...I was in tears because, well i am not that stupid to make the exact same mistake, turns out there is major glitch in the program!!! So thank goodness it was not my fault after all.

Then check this out, I am shaking my head, hands hips, stomping feet, They pushed the date back Again another two weeks!!! Geesh, why can't they just draw aline a be done with this already?
Thanks for listening to my severe tantrum here.

Ruby, so nice to see you are home. Big Hug, sorry you might have a bladder infection, yikes hope it goes away quickly.

Alright guess I'll go calm my nerves.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry ot hear you are all having bad weather, but sounds for a nice time to get a cup of hot coco, and sit somwhere all cuddled up with a book to read, or a movie to watch.
90 cents per litre for gasoline? It is getting down to $1.90 here, but not that cheap! Wow!!!
Betty, you are home early, so I hope you are taking a nap, and catching up on your rest?

Oh my gosh! I lost everyone! Wow - so much going on!.

First off - Betty, you are just full of talent! The cards are beautiful!!!! Thank you for sharing the process!

OK, I saw something about a frog going around the world. I want in!!! I have to tell you a funny story along those lines from a few years ago. One of the guys I work with is a graduate of Va Tech - he's a "Hokie". There mascot is a turkey called the Hokie Bird. Well, he had a stuffed one he kept on his desk and I kidnapped him and he traveled all over the place! I even created a yahoo email acct and sent him pictures from all over - Arizona, The Masters in Augusta Ga. An Ohio State game. New York City (see attached), the the Caribbean, Jamestown and more I can't remember. Anyway, I played the story that the Bird had run away from his dull life in a cubicle. I had him meet "new friends" (my DD stuffed animals) and a girlfriend - "Henrietta the Hippo". I had such a fun time with it! I had people taking him all over for me and sending postcards, emails, pictures, etc. After about 6 months, I had him "come back home" and had the guy come down to the lobby because he had a "visitor". I had tons of ppl there and he was so surprised!!!! Anyway, send me the frog!!!

Here's the bird and the Naked Cowboy in NYC.

Gardengirl1204, I'd appricate it if you would dmail me a contact #, it'll only be used if Cedric is lost and you can't be reached on here. Also, can I have a real world name to put on the list? You have been added though.

Lyndonville, NY

I am amazed at how low the gas is in all your areas. We are not quite under $3.00 a gallon yet around here, most places $3.09. Two weeks ago we were still $3.50+

The weather here is horrible also, and more moving in. Betty according to the weather station you and Kidneyguy are going to get pelted also. We are getting it from South-west/PA/Buffalo area...and coming across Lake Erie....and the other front moving up the East coast is hitting other side of Rochester. I am right between the two!

Betty, glad you are home safe. Feel better. I am going to make a big pot of chicken soup tomorrow...or a pot pie, not sure yet.

Sweet dreams everyone,
Debbie

Morning, quick 'hello' have to tell you I slept like a baby most of yesterday, went to bed at 7:30...couch was getting uncomfortable, alarm went off at 4:45..shut it off, back to lay a few seconds more and had to MAKE myself get up at 6...telephone rang a few minutes ago..with the storm, accidents and Suzanne not feeling up to par she said we wouldn't leave much before 7:30 so I've a few minutes to enjoy...didn't even get to the chicken noodle soup..had a balogna sandwhich, thought I'd had supper later but didn't..so, another day!

Hope you are all safe from the storm if it's in your neck of the woods...Carol and Debbie you are probably in it...

Talk when I arrive in the city...

Crozet, VA

Oh good, I am caught up finally. I did skip over a whole weeks postings though. I miss you gals when I am not able to read the thread. OMG - I am not ready to cold and snow. I want it to be warm weather again with lots of bright sunshine. Oh well, with the way that time seems to fly, I will be saying it is too hot before we know it again.

I hope that everyone is doing well and hope that you all will have a good day. Take care.

Ruby

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,
I am at my daughter's looking after my grandaughter Dana who is 10.
Her older sister is in high school now and has to catch the bus at 7:25 am. So Dana needs to be looked after for a couple of hours in the morning
till she goes to school at 9am.
I will be doing this every second week when my daughter is working day shift.

So..Debbie..our gas is not really cheap..because ours in priced in liters.
4.5 liters to a gallon..so our gas even at 90 cents..is around $4.00 a gallon.

Betty,,no storm here yet..our weather just says flurries today..but so far nothing.
Better put the TV on and check out what is going on in the world.
But it is usually not good..LOL

Lyndonville, NY

I am on kid patrol, still running back and forth to school, so taking a minute to say good morning.

Starz I forgot about the liter gas thing. I live so close to Canada, but rarely get over there. And now with the new border regulations for crossing, I will have to get the new license or passport to do so.

We didn't get any snow...yet. The weather reports are not looking very good, but nothing yet. I have a school meeting at 2:00, so sure something will brew up by then!

Betty, I am so happy you got some rest. You were running yourself ragged there Miss! I don't know how you do it.

Well, round two of child dragging is in motion...so I will be back after coffee. Everyone have a great day, travel safely.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning. It is 49 here this morning, and it is supposed to get up to about 75. Not bad.
Our gas here is now at $1.99 per gallon. And it keeps going down everyday. It was like $2.16 on Friday.
Betty, glad to hear you got some well deserved rest. be careful driving on your way to work.
Hope you all have a wonderful day
LK

ROTFLMBO, Jeannine! That's too funny with the Naked Cowboy. Sounds like that little Hokie bird really got around.
Debra

Great news on cost of gas in Texas. I hope those figures make it to Virginia soon.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning just got in, traffic was bumper to bumper as we neared the city..Paul was already in and the girls got here just seconds behind us...
I AM SO rested...in the afternoon I thought this is silly get up don't waste an aft. in bed, but, the idea of coming home early because not up to par was to REST...so glad I did...sneezing like crazy today so neocitrin tonight again...

I teach tonight so it's a late night and OMG I forgot to cut their wood pieces out..so while they get organized I'll have to cut out a few of the Christmas Carollers, at least to get them started..yikes, that was a Monday night project and with the flooding I completely forgot..this morning I'm thinking now what will these girls paint and it came to me..oh/oh...had I remembered yesterday I could have done it without rushing...so I get to use my new equipment...lol...

Judy d-mailed me, she has her Santa kit..that didn't take long..thought maybe by Friday most would have it...so more being delivered this week I guess...how did you make out at the parent teacher conference the other day...

Jeannine, do you have a photo of the front of your 'naked cowboy'..hmmmm lol - you still have kits for your quilts that you had saved for this fall...starting any?

Linda Kay, 75 degrees, I so want to be there...each year I get older the less I enjoy the snow...how come I wasn't born in Hawii or on one of the Islands..??

Debbie, looked at the news this morning and the snow must be all around you..be careful this aft. as more is on it's way...

Ruby we sure did miss you..going to start calling you are inhouse traveller...guess all work on the stone fencing has halted for this year?

Jeff picked up the costumes so boys will have them tonight..Lisa (his wife) called last night about 6pm to let me know that Braedon who is on a rep hockey team was playing in Orillia at 8:30..told her I wasn't feeling the best, got home early so would have to pass for this time but to let me know a few days ahead for the next area game and I'd attend...

I have absolutely NOTHING to do here today..sure hope someone is around to keep me company today ... (smilling away to myself) I DO have some santa faces here I could paint, baby blanket I can do crochet on..an oil piece I'm painting - morning glories...so laughing, so I'm not totally without anything to do..sure don't want to play anymore solitaire...everyone else in meetings...

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Ruby, isn’t that the way it goes; too hot one “day” too cold the next.

Starrz, there are a lot of Grandmas in my neighborhood who do that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, once she's off to school you go home for the day correct?

Paul is taking his daughters to see the new office in Toronto this afternoon so it will just be Suzanne and I, then tomorrow it will be our turn...he's all excited about it..so are we, got rid of Wayne...not nice am I..but when everyone sooo enjoys working together and then you get someone who has less thought of women in the workforce that he does, puts a damper on the day...

We're counting our days..when we passed Barrie this morning which was only 45 minutes from home and still at least another 45 minutes to travel to work and the bad weather we sure are anxious...an besides there is a scrapbooking store, Michaels, re-use it centre...the works...oh it will be so much fun...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!
...Well is is chilly here in the 50's at the moment. Suppose to warm up through out the day, Waahhhh, Think I am getting a cold, better run for some Sunny D, Love that stuff.

Having some coffee and my stitching to keep me company today, LOL Betty, I know what you mean, I am sick of solitare. I done word searches...

OH MY how lucky Bird is to have met the Naked Cowboy, my,my lucky indeed! LOL.
Gee, GG what a fun thing to do for your co-worker...

Debbie, Yikes, sure am glad you didn't get hit with all that snow. Have safe travels Kid dragging, LOL-I think I love that phrase.

LK, yep gas going down here too...Thank goodness already, was 3.05 when filled up yesterday, ahhh frees up some spending money, lol.

Ruby, nice to see you got caught up...We miss you too when you are traveling. So nice travel. Especially to see family.

Hi Wonderhug, Glad to see you are back into the swing, Geesh, Can't believe your package still hasn't arrived! It's almost a month, Even your wonderhug made it there in exactly 2 weeks. LOL, one has to list everything so Yikes, maybe they are troubled over the wire?

...So found out what happened last night, took 2 hours to get home. Turns out we had an electrical pole fall or knocked down. Of all places on the bridge. So the entire 1.5 miles completely shut down. Had to go all the way around, along with everyone else. Well the otherside down too so all re-routes. The road I was on was also under construction, backed up inching along and there was more flahing lights, turns out some dummy, getting arrested, so you know, nver seen that before so every one stopping to gawk at the guy getting patted down. Geesh...Well, what can one do in time like that, so Out came my embroidery, jam to some good rock n roll...
and Yep, nice suprise Vicotrian Santa Kit waiting for me!!! Thank you Betty.

ohoh, then DH got the phone bill...LOL there went my overtime. I am going to have to get them calling cards...Yikes, he was ona yelling spree, then Jacob cancelled one of the shows he follows from the dvr, to watch wrestling, big mistake...Poor guy (DH) needs a break, LOL better send him to Cottage!
Big Bummer, My brother had to cancel his visit, so not sure when he will reschedual.

Betty, I am so glad you got in a good, well deserved rest...
Woohoo, Closer to home in travel will be so nice, and OMG sounds like fun with the Michaels and other stores to check out, in the area...Too cool!!

OK better get back to stitiching.
Have a good day everyone.

OH, Carol...When you watch Dana, are you staying at their house? so you don't have to travel. Glad you can come visit too...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, better turn that car in my direction, who knows maybe Steve would like to ice fish..that could be his vacation NOT going to the cottage to work somemore...

Can't believe Judy your box of goodies got there already, no one else has mentioned receiving them..saw a box on the floor yesterday, you know how door is open and everyone drops in with goodies well yesterday it wasn't food, a whole box of white/clear beads so will be sending you another box...because I have the studio any crafty thing someone gets or buys it comes to my house...lordy pretty soon I'll have to say no more...

Can you figure how those kits will work????

I get a flyer from Michaels every week with coupons in it, once they were in newspapers but they've stopped that kind of advertising..you can from their e-mail print it off..one per day soooo I have a coupon sitting here worth 40% off one item...surely I must need something in the card making supply department...lol

This week so far other than Monday I've driven in with Suzanne, today we go to see if that material store is open...I need 30 yards of velvet...better not wait and then him close...so that's today's goal

Victoria Harbour, ON

Old age, reason I came on was to post todays 'question of the day?'

What living creature has the ability to sleep for three years?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't know what phone company you are with, but we have verizon for the home phone, and they have a plan that includes unlimited long distance for like $50.00 a month. That is not ontop of what you already pay. That is for the phone service, and long distance. Might be worth checking to see if you company has anything like that. I think time warner has it also?
It will save on long distance that adds up real fast!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay, that truly is cheap...know our unlimited time plans are very expensive...there is a company though that offers Canadian/USA calls unlimited for 99 cents...that's probably about the best we can get...for the amount I do the 99 cent per call is fine, although, I never remember to use it...you just made me think, all these long distance calls to Sharon at the hospital I could have used it...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Halloween is just around the corner...

Thought you'd enjoy making these...

I missed this whol thread-how did that happen?? Betty LOVE the cards-if you have pattersn, that would be cool. I can't beleive someone would call you a liar-what nerve-just because you have the energy of a 5 yr old hoppped up on a 2 liter of Coke and a bag of candy doesn't mean you lie:)

Gas here is $2.09 today...

The ability to sleep for 3 yrs-I am gonna guess my DH...
