Best Thing/Worse Thing and What did I learn today? #65

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty--------------

SO? It is a senior citizen "Aboniable Snowperson" ---sagging breasts and all,,,Just tell Noah that this one has lived a long...long life and has had 99 baby Abonoables--and has nursed them all to grow up to be hairy, carnivorous monsters....SO--has paid the price!

....:O)

Glenview, IL

LOL, Betty got some of that hair fur??? Glue it all around the border I think. er and a bit under the belly, like a bit onthe chest...
Thinking your on right track...

ROFLOL Gita!!

Ok for real now
good night.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty I think it looks great, saggy breast and all. Is it too big for him or just stretchy?

Victoria Harbour, ON

No stretch and not too big...too late Judy, took the chest part off..going back and forth from one costume to the next...likely be up all night...

Thought I'd take a break and call Sharon, should have called her earlier...

She was so upset that now I'm upset and not sure how I can help her out..

She has 2 sons one 39 who lives quite a distance from her, the other 40 almost 41 year old moved back with her when his marriage broke up, she's been trying to have him move out and he absolutely won't..although she threatens to get the police involved she doesn't..then I mentioned before that she remarried about 20 years ago, Terry was never married and he wanted children, now this is when both of her children were away from the home... so she decided she would adopt not 1 but 2 - both girls...the eldest girl is quite a handfull, when this marriage didn't work out she was left with having to raise them, thank the Lord that they are well to do and he paid for private schools/any thing they want they get...well, so I don't write a novel, when the eldest turned 14 she was a handfull and finally Terry took her to live with him as Sharon couldn't handle her! Sharon has Nikki and of course dear old Brian..I'll not talk kindly of him even though I try not to speak ill of anyone...but I've just about had it...

Now for today's story and reason I gave you background info..

Here Sharon is feeling poorly, needs major surgery on her back as she cannot move, taking morphine, in the hospital, waiting for her surgery date....for the past 3 weeks while she's been in the hospital (her home is not more than 5 - 10 minutes tops from the hospital) she has asked Brian to bring her various things, he says he's tired, doesn't work full time, doubt he even works) so here she has no one to depend on...then he was keeping an eye on Nikki, she's in grade 10 and so it's best she stays in her own home so that she doesn't miss school, but it's been fighting between Nikki and Brian and they each take turns calling Sharon screaming about the other..today Brian told Nikki to get out, called Terry (Sharon's ex) told him to pick her up..well now Sharon is in fits, that's Nikki's home, Brian should be the one leaving...so she's trying to be referee..so now Terry comes and picks up Nikki for a few days, Brian is acting up...my mom stops by the hospital to visit, finds Sharon inconsolible and in tears..so off mom goes to Sharon's to talk to Brian, they get in an argument, mom leaves to go home, Brian calls Sharon yelling and screaming at her...

If this isn't bad enough, Terry had to tell Sharon that the eldest Rhonda who was visiting her grandparents for the weekend waited until they were asleep on Saturday night and ran away, she left a note saying she'd be in contact in a few months...she's not 16 yet although she looks like 20...

If being in the hospital waiting for surgery that could take the use of your legs away wasn't bad enough, now the worry of not knowing where her child is...

I just want to go to her house and strangle that 40 year old brat...God have mercy on me...

So my adrenaline is up, I probably will finish both costumes because I'll not sleep, not tired, too mad...

Sorry, just had to vent...probably none of it makes sense, but does to me!

You need a break Betty.

I was going to bed a minute ago...

Lets say a quick prayer. Things sure sound awful at the moment...and I can't blame you for being very perturbed on the situation at hand.
...Mannn Sharon sure doesn't need any of that to be thinking about...So will say a little prayer that people will Think, for a second.

Groom costume looks great!
..LOL DH sleeping on couch while "watching" tv. sent him off...

Please my friend, get a good rest.
A New day is in order...

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll play a little bit longer Judy...then must clean up my mess...girls come tomorrow..

Maybe something hot to drink...

Sat down for a few seconds and finished our card...

Out of scrapbooking paper or wrapping paper (not the foil type) I cut to size just smaller than the christmas card

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

I have a corner punch, maybe you've those decorative scissors..think my punch cost about $17.00 at Michaels...did the 4 corners...I turned it to the back of the sheet so you could see what it looks like once punched

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now you must trim the decorative angel card stock so that it fits inside the corners...gently now so you don't break the thin decorative corner...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now to attach it to the card stock...you can purchase the two way tape at the Dollar Store (you get about 2 cards out of it) or $3.99 at Walmart - and the refills afterwards are 2 for $3.99...get quite a few cards out of it....

You run a bead of tape along the outside 4 edges and a few strips within...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now I take the card and stand above my blank card so I can position it leaving same amount of border on 4 sides..remember it's tricky as you have to watch where your fingers are on the card as they stick to it..lol

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now that I have eyed the border I can place on the card, only one chance as once it touches it sticks..I just press lightly all over the card to make sure it adheres...

I haven't put embellishments on this card..I find the angel has enough gold and glitter ribbon that if I'd put some on it might be too much..on other cards I do though...

And now we've made our card....

Jeannine and Janice...do hope I explained it properly for you both..if there is something that still is confusing just ask, I'll try to 'unconfuse' lol it for you...

Going to clean up, then to bed

Night/night everyone...

Wow, Betty, you have had a full day. Costumes, your family matters, your card instructions.
Please get a good nights sleep, and prayers headed your way.

I'm sure everyone is sleeping soundly, I tried but figured if I was just going to lie there and not sleep, I might as well be productive...

I'm sure Braedon will like his "dead bridegroom' costume..I'll tell you what, next time kids ask for worms and bugs on their costumes, mom can make them..omg, my tummy was turning as I sewed those squirmy things to the suit...yuk/yuk...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

No bloody wonder I can't sleep...playing with ghools all day long..enough to have nightmare..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Better hang him somewhere else otherwise who knows what spirits he might welcome in...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to try this sleeping thing one more time...let's hope I can otherwise the last of the costumes will be ready for me to deliver in the city tomorrow...

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I would have bad dreams after dealing with that all day too! Ewww!

I don't know whats worse....that or my son going as Hanah Montana to drive his sister crazy! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm so laughing Debbie..kids

You are up late as well, no sense tossing and turning...with a few alterations i.e. stomach area..I've now put that lovely fur, sat and glued strands of hair on the hands....so, I'm DONE WITH HALLOWEEN!

Morning, up and at it..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

I vote for Betty to be Woman of the Year!!! actually..Super Woman of the Year!..and Grandma of the Year!

Costumes are fabulous!
The Dead bridegroom is so ghoulish...and the Abominable Snowman has "perked right up" LOL

Hope you got to doze a bit on the drive in to work this morning, Betty.

I am sorry your sister is going through such a difficult time..

Ruby..how are you after your fab vacation?
I really enjoyed reading your letter to Betty..

Vicki..your little 'Starzz" and put away for the winter..
I have 4 Oriental lilies still in pots outside. I better find a spot to plant them in the ground..I'm njot sure if they will winter over outside in small pots. I had planted them in pots last spring so I could keep them on the deck and have them close by to enjoy the frgrance.

I can't believe it..but I have three roses with blooms..I snipped them brought a couple inside.

Enjoy your day all..
Cheers,
Carol

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, that turned out wonderful! The kids around here one year wear t-shirts under their costumes...the next year snowsuits! So something like that would be wonderful to keep you GS warm and safe! And the love grandma put into it will mean so much to him (and his Mom).

My son is wearing a denim skirt, one of his sisters shirts with a bra to make it official "girly", his Hanna Montana wig I had to get him....and get this...fishnet stockings! He is 15...and apparently the J. V. soccer team boys are all dressing as "something female". And nothing like your son asking if he can borrow your heels! LOL OMG, I will be there with the camera. One of the boys is wearing his sisters prom dress.

Carol, rose blooms this time of year? Wow! You are lucky. What color are they?

Have a great day
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, if I would have dozed in on the way to work I'd have been in mega trouble..Suzanne is sick and took the day off so it was drive in on my own...the girls haven't arrived as yet, Paul's arrived 10 minutes ago, long ride, heavy rain/fog and odd snowflake..took 2 hrs. but I'm here safe and sound ..I hear it's heading your way...what's on the agenda today? Swimming, square dancing, putting garden to be? oooohhh roses..lucky you..didn't even go look at the garden this weekend..too much to do...enjoy those roses...

Debbie...how funny, my goodness boys of that age seldom want to be seem with girls let alone be one for Halloween..cute, brave of them all...and yes, you must get your camera batteries charged..we'll all want to see them..

Can't wait for Ruby to tell us all about her vacation..I'm so pleased that she was up to it...the last vacation was mostly spent in bed I believe...

Was almost 3am when I last saw the clock then dozed off..alarm went off at 4:45 but I managed to stay in bed till 5:30..then came Suzanne's call that she wasn't coming in...restless, I feel useless, know I should be helping Sharon in some way, at least visit the hospital more often, but with her being so far away and my having animals..really hard...

Listening to her crying her heart out, full of despair, wanting to check herself out of the hospital so she can try and handle things on the homefront just broke my heart...

Her doctor comes in between 10:00 - 10:30 so will call her and see if there is any news as to when she'll be moved and operated on..so yes, a prayer for her needs would certainly be appreciated..

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Sorry your sister is going through all of this at once, Betty. Your right, she shouldn't have to deal with medical issues and family issues at the same time, but that often happens; everything at once. I know that the phone is her lifeline to talk to those, like you, that can chear her up but it might be best if she didn't have one in her room. Might just be able to concentrate on herself and getting better and not deal with all those outside distractions. Nothing she can do about kids and family from where she is anyway.
Hard to tell people "don't worry", especially moms.
What if some of us come over and help you haul that SOB out of her house and life!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'd appreciate that..Brian was one of the nicest boys you'd ever meet..my boys age..all three were like brothers...had a great job with Sharon's ex, married -well to do, 2 lovely daughters and all of a sudden things changed...my feelings??? DRUGS! Sharon knows this as well...he's down to living in her house..now using her vehicle..yet he can't drive 5 to 10 minutes and bring her a few things she needs....screams / yells at her constantly...boy oh boy..even my boys don't associate with him..

She had a breakdown when she was about 15..they gave her shock treatments and she lost the majority of her memory ...tried to commit suicide during this period in her life...I do so worry that she's heading back into a major depression (rightly so)...says she just can't stay in the hospital..family matters to deal with..she's as stubborn as her sister when it comes to having her mind set..let's hope they get her operated on shortly, all goes well, so she can start healing both physically and mentally...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I wish I could be there to kick him out also!!! Or at least kick his BUTT!!! Shame on him, for making his Mother go through things like that.

Now back to you my dear. Don't you know that less than 2 hours of sleep is not good for you??? LOL Please take care anad get lots of reat tonight. I hope you have no classes, so you can go home and rest. You have to take care of your self.

It is 61 derees here this morning. Nice and cool, but all the plants are lovong it. I have blooms on my angel trumpets, and can't wait to see them. I have no idea what color they are going to be, as they are all noids, but a bloom is s bloom!!!!
Ladies have a good day. Wonder, I saw you posting earlier, I hope your doing better, and have more time to join us.

Take care
Linda Kay

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay, 61 degrees, that's bathing suit weather for us...I do keep care of myself..couldn't sleep so rather than come home tonight and have work to do I did it all...now I can rest for sure...feet up, t.v. programs..that's my plan, but my plans have been known to change...

Called Sharon, Dr. just left, the surgeon he's trying to get who is suppose to be the best isn't available for the next few days...said he'd try to contact another this aft.

I asked if she told the Dr. all that was going on and she said no..she said she asked for her morphine to be increased last night just so she could sleep, that didn't even work..

So we're talking, I'm at such a loss for words while talking because what can you say???? and her cel rings...I can hear him screaming and yellow at her...so she hangs up on him....told her NOT to answer her cell but she's worried it might be news about Rhonda....

Will call her this aft.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

It is dreary and raining..and I have been playing away on the "puter" for hours..must get showered and dressed for the day..
A good friend's Mom (I had been in her company several times..lovely lady ) passed away yesterday from cancer. I wrote her ..feel I should call..but I know things are very busy after a close family member passes on....but did my best to write words of comfort in the e-mail. Brings back memories.......

I took a pic of my roses that I cut yesterday..
Yellow is Graham Thomas and pink is Bonica..I have buds on my New Dawn too..but I left those on the growing for now.

Sorry to hear of your moms'friend passing Carol...know your e-mail will touch their heart kowing you care...where's the photo of the roses? lol

Paul just left for the other office..says regardless IF our Barrie office is ready or not, we're out of here Dec. 1st...said I could take calls and direct them from home until the office has been painted, new rugs and furniture...now wouldn't that be a treat...made my day! I could work in my jammies and do crafts...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, bet you are going to miss walking through your gardens every morning at coffee time...

Thought of you this weekend, someone was talking about Meaford Factory Outlet..and it reminded me of a small gazebo type metal structure, each of the 4 metal supports housed a metal seat..would look so cute in your garden, MINE as well...who knows maybe DIL will be visiting there shortly, might con her into picking it up so I'd have it early spring...have to think that one out...

Went to Midland and in all the hallaballooooo I forgot to pick up the wet saw for tile...must drop into a Canadian Tire store this week..sale is till Friday...

Question of the Day...

42% of women have done this at a bar or restaurant. What is it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trying to keep awake...

JUST HAVE TO SHARE

For you my friends:

http://www.greatdanepromilitary.com/Battle%20Hymn/index.htm

Victoria Harbour, ON

This one is especially for each and every one of you..please take time to read...
THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there,

no matter how much time and how

many miles are between you.

A girl friend is never farther away

than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you

have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life

will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,

praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on

your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the

valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk

beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,

daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,

Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended

family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and

neither would I. When we began this adventure called

womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or

sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we

would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

Hi Carol!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Anyone interested in joining “The Travels of Cedric and Bailey”? Like the traveling gnome, we’re going to do a traveling frog. This is not going to be an open invitation, we want to keep it within people we know so Cedric doesn’t disappear and so the number of participants doesn’t get out of hand; this invitation will be posted on three threads only, Sweet interruptions, Mixed Seed Nuts and Best Thing/Worse Thing and what did I learn today?. When its own thread is started the participants will be set.

The Travels of Cedric and Bailey information:
1. Cedric will fit into the smallest flat rate box with room for some additional luggage.
2. Cedric comes with a set of clothes, bags, dog and journal.

Rules:
1. You must take pictures of Cedric “visiting” your area. A picture of you with Cedric is requested.
2. You must write at least one journal entry, in the enclosed journal, to cover Cedric’s visit.
3. You must do so in a timely manner, about a week between receiving him and shipping him out, for special circumstances additional time can be given, but please email me to get approval/let me know what’s going on.

If you are interested d-mail me; I’d appreciate it if you wanted to include a phone #, I would only use it to locate Cedric if he is missing and you can not be reached online, this is not required to participate.

Example (This would need to be written in the paper journal, though copies can be posted on DG):

10/27/08
I decided today that I was going to go and travel around the US. My friend Cthulu has been telling me stories of his travels to the UK. It sounds like so much fun, but I think that is a bit beyond my budget; I think I can manage to visit all my friends on DG though.
