OK Jeannine, Janice and anyone else who would like to try making a card but watch out once you've made a card most likely you'll me ALL of your Christmas Cards and gift tags...lol

I found that Michaels has the best buy...you can purchase a package of 50 cards/envelopes for $8.99 I believe...inserts are needed so you use up a few of the cards for this purpose but still a good buy...

The dollar store sells little plastic packages 5 cards/envelops..usually 2 or 3 embelishments included, those you can throw away..they are ok, lesser quality but when made into a card, just as pretty..when using them purchase 3 pkgs. 2 to use and 1 to make the insert card...they also see an exacto knife which you will need...

If you look at the photo I've posted you will see an angel pattern template and just above it a cut out of the same..looks as though it's pink stripes but that's my table cloth lol..

Forgot the photo

This is the template ...this angel was done with ribbon purchased 1/2 price at Michaels, width is between 1/4 and 3/8ths..must be wide enough to cover each little numbered section

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Step #1:

Take the template and tape it to your working area/table

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

You can see all the numbers and color divisions...here I used 3 different ribbons...you can in the face and wing do the iris method but I thought it was too much so I did mine in gold..at the $$$ store they had what I call a ruffler in the scrapbooking section...that's how I got her face done ...

If you go back above you really can see the division of sections especially when you look at my finished project...

Now you take the cardstock template you cut out with exacto knife (maybe you can find them precut but they would be expensive..first ones I bought I got for $6.00 for 4 and you only have the cutout not the card and envelop so really it's not hard to cut out, will save you mega $$$....

You now take the cardstock and tape it across the front matching the template pattern..secure it enough that it doesn't move...

If you put your card over the template and it doesn't match then turn the card as it might be reversed...

Some will tape the bottom as well but as you are working directly ontop many wish to keep lifting it to see what they are creating...anxious I would say..know who does it?

Yep it's me...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now it looks like this...

You will be working on this cardstock following the pattern beneath it..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Should be making costumes..with no pattern and waiting for the stores to open...drats...will make for a long day once I start...will go work on finishing touches of the dead bride groom lol...

But first..I'll show you how you attach your first piece...

make your ribbon, or paper (which has been cut 1/2" and folded lengthwise with burnishing the fold to it's crisp ) will show you that later on another card...right now ribbon is easier...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Then on to #2 (changed color)

You will see by the visual I have 2 pieces of gold ribbon..we'll that's because I don't have any more wide ribbon left and am trying to show you so pretend it's once piece..make sure you purchase ribbon just a bit wider than 1/4" - 1/4 " does in some spots but not worth the effort...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now for my 3rd. color...

Just watch that you don't have tape in the face and wings..you could have put gold inplace before starting the bottom triangle..would have been a bit easier for beginners...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now I've gone around once more keeping my color in sequence...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

It's about this time that I take the tape off the bottom just to lift it up and see what wonders are beneath..DON"T take the top off though or you'll have to re-align your card...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

so now it's retaped at the bottom and I continue to follow the numbered sequence..that's important...

You will notice in the middle of the triangle the last little section is not numbered, that's what they call the 'iris'..it's done in co-ordinating color of choice..I usually pick same as I've done the the wings...

Truly I can't be playing here..will continue this craft saga when I need a costume break..but first, off shopping in Midland...lol

Betty!

I KNOW what you are sending me!!!!!!! Something you have owed me for a long time.......Doing a Happy Dance!!!!!!................cha-cha-cha.....OLE!

I have been wanting to send you something too......kind of around Christmas, maybe sooner.....hand-made, of course!

Thanks, Gita

Hi...OMG,
LOL, yep was alone a song too long, so sorry.

Betty, yay, you are goiung to get me in big big trouble...If I start another craft this family is gonna start shaking there fingers at me...haha.

They had oodles of fun at the park, Dh wore his black Trench coat and the Bandana with the skull, on the lower half, said ladies and girls running away screaming...He was standing waiting for the kids from a ride and one of the park staff approached and told him he couldn't scare the people! LOL, he said i am just waiting for kids. Can you beleive they waited 2 hours for one ride, outrageous.

Well today, WE are working outside, woohoo big breakfast first...See you all later, and i promise not to sing...

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, I love that card. What a great idea....and so pretty.

I will meet you any time you want. Just give me a couple days advance to clear my schedule and make sure nothing is set with DD's appts. Even if you want to go to the outlet mall in NF or whatever.

No, I am not looking forward to Thanksgiving or Christmas. This was Moms time of year, especially with the snowman collection increasing. But, I know in my heart she is happy, healthy....and safe. Now I just have to convince my head I will see her one day....and live with my wonderful memories I was able to have with her.

Huck is being such a snot today....tore up a whole box of tissues during the night. But he had help with his brothers no doubt.

Now, back to this crafting Angel...so pretty. I think I have a project to do!

Debbie

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Betty for taking the time to show us how the cards go together. I am going to have to play to see how it works but it looks simple once you get the idea. Like everything good, it takes time.

Good Luck and wont you be glad when Halloween is over?

Victoria Harbour, ON

This camper wasn't happy this morning...left the house at just after my last post (hr. difference in posting of time on DG...) went into town, I just couldn't believe that a mall at this time of year doesn't open until noon..so wasted the better part of the day...didn't find my pattern so had to purchase another - imagine $16.95 now watch me find the other...couldn't get the original so had to substitude..

Most of the day is now over but I must get it done...let's see if this mess will be something by the time nightfall comes..searched this week for a mask appropriate for an abominable snowman, none, so purchased this mask, and some fur ($34.98 a meter) am hoping that the glue gun will work to create tuffs of hair on the rubber mask..
spray painted the chest - hoping to put tuffs of hair on it as well...
what a mess...wish me luck

Janice, just starting to cut out material, lordy it takes time to cut out the pattern pieces from the envelope doesn't it...now I'll get busy, but from time to time I'll take a break and continue the ANGEL card...so you can see the steps from beginning to end...

Glenview, IL

Much success to you...a project for sure, it's gonna be awsom when your finished with it.

Yikes, I am sweatin up a storm...DH cleaning the gutters while I rake the lawn, whew what a job,
want to remind me that I love this time of year.

And I am excited to be using my blower/vaccume. Brand new and i bought it for 20.00! But I am getting frustrated because the plug keeps coming off the electric cord...LOL, searching for ducktape.

Ok break over...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Seems an afternoon Judy for breaks, I just got the material cut up..OMG Santa's workshop couldn't be as messy...it was spotless just yesterday...ok, so I've got all my cardstock on 2 tables, material on 2 others and cutting yet on another table...got to make a mess in order to be creative...someone did tell me that...

Now I'm on my way upstairs, because the mess is downstairs and the costume material and fur will be all over, best to bring the machine downstairs... of course passing the card I just had to do another couple of steps...

but here's my craftroom...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

I continue our card making "Angel"

now when you are finished going through the sequence of numbers with your 3 colors it will look awfully messy..I've even secured with a little more tape..not necessary and does make the card bulkier but I did anyway...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now if you look closely you'll see I cut out gold cardstock for the wings and the halo, then I used the ruffler OMG got it at the dollar store and today picked up 2 more ..one for me incase it breaks the other for Darlene...secured it on the face...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now is the fun part..just too bad you don't see the beauty of all the sprarkly ribbon...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Break over....will be back to put it together, embellish so that we've done a card together....am I making sense with what I've done????

Victoria Harbour, ON

Somebody is lurking, not posting...do hope you've enjoyed as well, always nice to have friends drop in, but do say 'hi'

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi Betty,
You just take my breath away.......I can't belive what you go through to make a costume.....

Your cards are lovely too..but I will just drop in and watch from this end..

Judy..you gave me a good laugh..and Gita too...

I am having a glass of red wine and some chocolate right now..had the cheese and crackers with red pepper jelly earlier..been watching the skating on TV.. I enjoy it.
It is that kind of day...
But I did do some more "bringing the garden things" this morning..
I think it is all done now.
Carry on Betty.......LOL

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty--

How can you tell someone is lurking but not posting?????? HUH?
Am I missing something here????

Judy...judy...judy.....

Most Blower/vacuums have a means of securing the cord before you plug it in.
Look and see if you have an opening somewhere on the handle with a fat hook close-by.
What you do is make a loop with your cord, leaving about a foot of slack at the plug end, and stick it through the opening and then hook the top of the loop on the hook. Then plug it in. This usually keeps the cord put.

If yout blower does not have that--simply tie the cord around the handle with a knot--leaving some slack again--and then plug it in. Simple!!!!! Just use your noggin!

Gita

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty--
Have you considered selling some of these costumes that you have made in the past and the boys have outgrown?
I get you could get a mint--with all the expense and effort you put into it....

Glenview, IL

OH Gita! Thas perfect. No hook but thanks to your noggin, tying it around the handle works great.
Thank you for a great idea.

Well Jumangi is sitting Pretty on the shelf in the shed. Just have to bring in the Gnomes, they live in sunroom for winter.
And last we have to take down the screen house. My chair will stay out until it too cold too sit out and enjoy.

What a beautiful Fall day here. I am so glad to be outside working about. Leaves swirling all over.
It got real windy and a few sprinkles, now the sun came back out and so I return to the yard...

Carol, you enjoy the skating, like ice skating...My favorite to watch. Yum, enjoy your wine and chacolate too.

Glad you got the costume cut, now the fun part of assembling...Yep I whole heartliy agree, got to make a mess to have fun...LOL, I can;t think when things are too neat, lol not to mention can't find anything when it's where it belongs...hehehe.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon or is it almost evening?? Carol are you getting the high winds and heavy rains...maybe my costume would go along better if I had a bottle of wine...wish I lived closer to you...what mischief we'd get into...wow not nice here at all..

Nice to be inside...watching movies while I sew...my machine because of the sponge type lining the material I'm using has on it is difficult to sew...by hand I now have the tummy sewn on...probably the hardes part..yet is the fur I bought, must go around the tummy to give it a fur like appearance...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Gita when you look at the very top of the page just under our thread title and to the right..it shows how many postings on the thread and how many looked at it??? #'s don't correspond..but that's ok...

Nope, no selling of costumes, once I give it to them, it's theirs..think Lisa and Melanie both have every costume I've ever made, lend them out, use them for plays etc. who knows, maybe one day my grandchildren's children will wear them...let's hope I'm not asked to make theirs..lol

Laura, sorry you don't have these wonderful celebrations to look forward to..will have to keep posting photo's so you are included..yep, can't wait for you to be feeling better, miss gabbing with you every day...imagine you worked today as it's Monday..let me think, nope think when I go to bed you'll be going to work right?

Judy, you having another break? Maybe I'm having tooooo many..lol...well off to do the back...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG, Betty! That is amazing! Don't think there is anything you cannot do. Will have to admit the gorilla laying on the bed kinda creeped me out, but an abomnible snowman will be cute, not creepy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not so sure...bought a mask as you can see on one of the above posts..had asked Caleb and if the abominable snowman could have a brown face, said 'no grandma Betty they have a white furry face'...so back to the drawing board I had to go..with my trusted glue gun I've been creating...he doesn't look like much at this angle, have to give him a haircut..lol...little more work and it's what he'll get...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Looking good..

Victoria Harbour, ON

I almost feel like I look like that..lol..going to head over to Greg's and have Noah try on both the Dead Groom costume and this one to know where I have to make alterations... almost enough for one day..

Glenview, IL

Oh oh Debra, better not look at Abonimbal Snowman...

Yikes, BETTY....awsom!

OMgosh, I am wiped out...we finished yard work, got everything put away and no breaks for me, "mom" cleaned the kitchen...
my hands are prunes, lol and rough, think I will ask the girls to give me lotionized hand massage.

And i have got to tell What an adorable little girl!! heheh, have to laugh about the moms words....LOL, was that Debsi's Little one? Hi...

Hiya Wonderhug!! Good to see you, Geesh, I think someone is walking, swiming and hiking your mail to you. Getting excited for you, would be awsom if it comes tomorrow...LOL, been long enough eh? i am glad you have been up and about, always good to get in some good rest. Hope you are having a good week...

Well, I am going to go rest myself...Tv might just be in order.
Goodnight everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Conned my DIL..called to say I was coming over with the costume, said it's not completely done and it's shedding fur, she said she'd bring Noah over to try on both costumes for me , save me the trouble of gathering it all up..lol

YOU JUST GOT TO HAVE A LAUGH WITH ME.....

OMG I'm breaking up in laughter...once the costume is on it looks like a sagging baboon with her breasts...so off to the drawing board..taking the front piece off, tomorrow will purchase some lighter weight materials and just sew a piece on...
