Garden Photos - Part 41

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice! They would look great together with the blue foliage of that fothergilla. The blue ones need some shade from afternoon sun, so part shade is fine, as that clematis can take as well.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I put the clemmie at the south east corner of the house. There's a dwarf lilac (3 feet) that is getting the full south exposure exposure there. I thought the fothergilla would do well with the easterly exposure. The other option is to put it on the fence beside the bird bath at the back of this pic http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5149486. Might be too shady though. Only gets a couple hours sun in the morning there.

LOL ok I've hjacked the thread into "Let's Plan for Dahlianuts Fothergilla" LOL oops

Southeast should work. You can always move it if you see it burning, etc.

Thanks JoAnn.

Victor and Bill, you two are two funny. It's great.

Thanks so much Willie, you're awesome!

Dahlinut, good luck with that combination! It should be pretty.

I have a few more pictures from this weekend, taken at a variety of places.

you would think that it would be hard to garden if you live next to a display garden, but this maple is a neighbor to the display garden.

this is my new little maple, acer japonicum 'fairy lights'. It has those nifty cut leaves, but is still an upright (although small) maple.

lol, that's what I said too. it's small enough, so as to fit in your yard Victor without crowding your display garden.

wow, that's a beautiful sunset dahlia!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks redchic. Soon we will start getting Chinook arches but it's not cold enough yet. It's not really spectacular looking like northern lights but still something I've learned to appreciate since I moved here. I haven't seen them anywhere else I've lived. I will post one when it happens.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

that would be great Dahlia! I would love to see a picture of a chinook arch. I've never actually heard of such a thing (will look it up though) but it sounds really interesting even if it's not as bright as the northern lights. I'm looking forward to the pictures!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Gorgeous sunset!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ok I know what Chinook dogs are I have 2 but what are Chinook arches ?? Off to look it up......

dahlianut I just opened your clematis photo and have to have it for behind my Agastache Blue Fortune on the west side of the house. What fantastic color.
Should look great with the purple blues and Ligularia Desdimona.
ooooooo dear I'm affraid I am in the wrong zone for the clematis.
Also looked in plantscout and there arent any nurseries who carry it.
big dissapointment.
Gardenwatchdog doesnt list the Canadian nursery.

I want that clematis too, JoAnn, it would work here.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

OhhBoy I hope your right.
I have the Garden imports nursery flagged. They are the only place I found after googling and plantscout turned up nothing.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

that clematis is really pretty. I definitely agree with that one.

I'm thinking I might see if I can dry the sunflower deadheads and make something of them.

This is what I love about fall. Nice photos, everyone. The colors are amazing. Love the sunset, Dahlia.

I love this little sempervivum. It's a pure olive green in the warm months. In fact, it's name is 'Olivette'.
