What a fabby idea Donnie Brook! Much like bear deterents here. Sing or softly whistle when walking in the woods. Mama Bear will hear and move her cubs away. We are having a twin phenonemon which must be pretty stressful for Mama Bears. When I played golf in the desert in CA I was VERY pleased to see signs posted around rocks and shrubs 'Rattlesnakes live here too'. I like snakes and need to be reminded that not all snakes are people friendly.
Garden Photos - Part 41
Louise, they still don't have automated voting machines????
Great, great, great, everyone! Those chinook arches sound cool. Shelly, I love your aster leaf basket. The leaves catch the sun wonderfully in it.
Dahlia, I love your gates, and JoAnn, your trellises are nice. Those would definitely be nice with your gates, Dahlia.
Louise, though I like Florida in the winter, I have to admit that I don't care for the tropical gardening as much as what we grow here. Would take some getting used to, I guess.
Karen
Victor, I love the Enkianthus and it's friends. They're a very bright group!
Willie, what a great chicken soup recipe, good enough to warm a witches soul.
Louise, glad we agree on the Florida summers! lol Is your place there close enough to any of the coasts that you have to worry about Hurricanes? At least you're not there during hurricane season, but it would also be hard to board the place up if you're up north. That transporting of plants back and forth, would be tough. Especially bringing something up from Florida.
Thanks nutsfordaylily! I really hope that the sun comes out again before the aster dies back, so as to see all the leaves again.
I think the sun came out for about 10 minutes today, before I was up. So there's lots to take pictures of, but hardly light enough to do it. But, for some reason this little leaf is just a glowing beacon. It has been for the last few days.
and last, but definitely not least. I have to show you all Willies' fantastic editing work! Ok... So there are 3 sprinklers missing from this picture, can you tell where they were at???? No cheating and looking up above either! I'll post the original when I get up, after folks have had a chance to check it out.
I just woke up... but I can't see them... good job Willie!
Not what I was expecting!
I don't use toads in my brew!
mean ole witch
Louise I went back to your window sill picture after I posted and realized the "mugs" werent hand made.
Hate to admit it but I remember those salt and peppers.
Now I see the whole collestion in your kitchen ,It's beautiful.
Cats be careful where you sit!
Oh, poor kitty! What a mean witch!
Shelly, nice pics today. Love that red leaf. And no, I can't see the sprinklers in that picture.
Karen
Loved the card, Sherri! I'm giggling, because I'm just about ready to start my chicken soup in the crockpot---I always make soup on Halloween--keeps the kitchen clean & the house smells great----at least that's what our 2 or 3 trick-or-treaters say! We live on a steep, narrow, dark hill----no place for kids to walk--- so we never get too many---when I taught, some of my students would have a parent drive them up. Now, just the kids that live on the road, plus my grandies.
Victor ~ I love the color of that Summer Wine.
Thanks, Candyce - so do I! Nice shots, Shelly. I really like the aster.
I'll start a new thread.
Jen - they had voting machines when we voted the last time, but they have replaced most of them with the paper ballots that are now scanned. I miss the chads!
Redchic - we are just off a River that is 7 miles from the Gulf. The River is 2 miles wide where we are, so the threat of a storm surge is our biggest issue. We have people who put up (and take down) our shutters at the appropriate times, so it has worked out ok for us so far.
Karen - Tropical gardening is a bit different and we're learning which plants cannot be left for 6 months! I love some of the tropicals, like the EEs and the caladiums, and I especially love the hibiscus. For me, one area is not better than the other, just different. I love gardening in both locations.
JoAnn - thank you! Our kitchen is somewhat small, as you can see, but I actually prefer having a more efficient kitchen, so ours is plenty big for me and now that we have made a few upgrades, I enjoy it much more than the original 1952 kitchen we had until last year. New is fun, isn't it?
Why have a big kitchen when you want to spend most of your time outside.
Small is good.
