WOW Victor that Callicarpa in the midst of those yellow greens is just a marvel.
I'm saving it for desktop screen

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I agree, it does GLOW!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you, ladies.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Victor, please don't appologize for a grass stalk! It makes me feel a little less behind in my yard! Crud I have to put out more bark under all the area around my koto no ito and beni komachi, which i didn't like posting this pictures for that reason (couple more of those this evening). I might get around to that by spring since I'm out of bark right now! Funny how that is about the forsythia, it's not a plant that I'm fond of either with only the exception of 'kumson'. Although, 'fiesta' is beginning to grow on me for it's ealy spring foliage colors, don't have it though. Do you have a picture of your 'kumson'? I would love to see a larger plant of it. those three pictures are great. I love the callicarpa.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I know I asked this once before, but I'm hoping that maybe more folks will see it this time. Has anyone had luck forcing calla lillies? I know that I've seen it done before, and I'm thinking that I would like to try it. But, I have no idea where to begin.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

That 'Aureum' JM sure is brilliant, and your 'Koto No Ito' looks great as a shrub. Your other pics are great, too. That forsythia in your neighbor's yard is really cool! I love that flower that reminds you of the sun, as well. I, too, happen to think of the sun when I see that. Great!

Bev, that backlit pic is great. Should post in the backlit thread. Love the colors on that leave. Really cool!

Great shots from your gardens, Victor. I especially like the heptacodium against the tulip tree. The picture of the calicarpa is great, too.

Debilu, I have no idea what caboose camping is. Do you camp out in old cabooses in a campground type setting?

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. Shelly - my Kumson are still small. I'll have to see what they look like now.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Thankyou I did post it on backlit and here is a closer view. BEV

Victor ...
I second the 'wow' on the Callicarpa! Amazing color!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Bill, I think that the fall colors on it are going to get better in the next few days to a week or so. It also seems to hold it's leaves well and then drops them all at once suddenly, sort of strange... but nice. This is actually the first year that I have truly been able to see the colors on it. Last year the deer ate the leaves at the end of the season and two years ago, when I got it, is when they actually ate the tree itself. little turkeys (not the word I really want to use)

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I always love this little plant, and it still has a bloom or two.

Real nice JM, Shelly. That's three plants, Bill.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Thanks Victor. What's the count for? Are you keeping track of Bill's wishlist? If that's the case.... I can use some help with mine! right now I can only find the last page of it that i'm currently adding on to, I'm not sure where I've misplaced the other 6 pages of it. :-p

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Willie, you said that you would love to take on peoples photo editing projects. If that's truly the case, I would really like that sprinkler removed from that picture up above. Not sure why, but it just gets on my nerves. I've tried getting rid of it, but it looks odd. Anyhow, I'll send you the full size pic, if that's a real offer!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, I was just answering Bill's question about the Callicarpa.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Debilu, I took a brief glance at your caboose camping thread. Will look more later. Too tired now. Had a long tiring day getting a new lawn mower and getting things mowed and cleaned up around here. Still have so much to do.

Great pics, y'all!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Great display garden picture RC

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

It's definitely a bona fide offer, redchic01.

I would be more than happy to edit that out for you. I do need the original, full-sized file for that, for best results.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Your a good guy

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Victor - i have only one in front of a couiple vibrinum and and behind the gold leafed redbud, was concerned that they grew a lot.

And the wish list is larger than three - it is basically a list of your yard that does not exsist in pepperell ----yet LOL I have come to depend on the stay at home dad to do the research and post the pictures.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I feel so taken advantage of! Hee hee. The Callicarpa gets about four feet high and wide. I cut it back every other year to keep it from getting too leggy.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

right - you love finding those unique plants - i spent last night researching the last two of these threads and have added new stuff to my list. do not how that magic shoe horn fits all the trees let alone bushes!!

i thought the callicarpa needed triming each year to keep it full and encourage new blooms?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have not found any difference in the blooms/berries if I don't cut it back hard. It still grows new wood and blooms. But if I let it go more than two years it does get too sparse for my liking.

Thomaston, CT

All of your photos have brightened up a really gloomy day! I have sooo much work around here It's painful to think about, but the weather is not cooperating---!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Victor, I was going to ask about pruning my Callicarpa.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Hi all. I've fallen head over heels for the fothergilla gardenii 'Blue Shadow'. Is it a real moisture addict? or could I get away with mulch and extra water provided when I change a bird bath to supplement my watering which has worked for my dogwood (so far)? My conditions are really dry. Thanks muchly.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I would say Fothergilla is an average moisture plant. However, it's rated as zone 4 so you may be out of luck.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I can do zone 4 victorgardener in my protected beds with mulch so I'm going for it. I'll just blame you for luring me with your luvly pic if it bites the dust ^_^.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Uh oh! (Please call me Victor.)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Seriously Victor I'm going to check out the local nurserys to see if 1) they carry it 2) they guarantee it. I'm think of putting it with this which I just got as a gift this fall.
