well push the issue and keep checking back with them on how things are going do not let it go silent ...luckily I knew who it was and kept them up on what was going on as it involve3d an unborn child and a lil girl that are now with Dh's x wife/grandma and for the last cal Dh got from the son she is not following through on what she is suppose to so she is going to lose her rights one of these days as DCFS in IL gives them 5 yrs then terminates rights. so son better get wise and get rid of her or he will never have his son

Tampering with the US Mail is a federal crime; you don't want to mess with those feds!
I had the same thing happen and now I don't put mail out in my box anymore. Shame since that was a nice convenience, but safer.
There are always people who think they need your money worse than you do. Selfish aren't they?

Never had checks stolen from me... but had a nosy ex BIL that went through my mail, when the mailman mistakenly left them in his mailbox. He claimed he opened them thinking they were his. Still, I found it's a federal offense, cause they weren't addressed to him.

BJ, I know you'll make sure nothing like that ever happen to your son again. Maybe that liquor store cashed the check for a fee.
We pay our bills online, use debit cards when shopping, and very rarely write checks. Now after reading this, for added precaution, I'll make sure we drive down to the post office and mail any checks from there.

Jaye keep an eye on your account anyway as I had someone some how get a hold of my debit card info last month and charged 100 on it but I luckily called in the check my account and when I heard the charge I looked at my check book and then called the bank and found out it was to pay pal which I have not sued in over 2 yrs and the last account I had with them was back in IL not down here.
My card never leaves my sight and I make sure I use secure sites when paying bills
the gal at pay pal says there is something that you can carry in your pocket and it can read someone card when they use it if you are near by then you can take it home and put it on your computer and use it.....don't know for sure on that but they had my mailing addy and my debit card info...but luckily they didn't know my IL info.
had to cancel that card get a new one and file a police report on it too and pay pal gave me back my money
