You all were saying good morning and forgetting me:(

Auntie M-don't I deserve to be spoiled 1 week out of the year:(??

Deborah-if you get them out like ASAP they should be OK to plant...if it is going to take a couple weeks, then spring would be better....

Thank you Trisha & Debra for membering me:)

I was laughing out loud picturing your GD Aiutie M saying that line from the movie!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes, you deserve to be spoiled for one entire week of the year!!!

She is a mess!!! Never know what is going to come out of her mouth. Thursday is Grandparent's Day at their school--no parents. They were have a lively discussion as to who was getting Grandma. Long story, short version: Youngest is getting me to visit her classroom so as we are leaving the restaurant she was walking twitching her little behind and saying to her sister: "I got Granma! You don't" Yikes another battle!! Finally had to work out an agreement that I will go to the oldest one's class 30 minutes before the visitaions end. Oldest one has Granddaddy.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL-that is cute!!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Marion, that’s too cute. Sage wants to be a ninja this year.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Tink, what a vivid imagination you do have!!! Now what would hubby say if a "hunk" popped out of the box?

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Well, I hope she would have the sense to open it while he's at work! LOL!

All those little chickies are sooooo cute!

I'm almost finished with a tote bag using the left over fabrics from the rag quilt. I'll post a photo later. Darn, I wish my washer was not a front loader.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Heck no-he'd stay in the box til I CHOSE to let him out;)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yea right Tink!! I can see this now--hunk floundering in box, hubby asking what is in that? Tink with wicked grin--no idea. Now if it is a really good hunk Tink you could send him to your Auntie M!!!!! LOL

Debra, I think you have started something with the rag bags and quilts. Not complaining--just the more the merrier. So how many quilting magazines do you have now? Still 4?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I just got back from my son's house, again... BOY do we have problems.

Yesterday, his electricity was turned off. TXU said it was because of non payment. He wrote the check and mailed his payment on Oct 3rd, and showed me his carbon copy. He got his electric turned back on last night after having to pay the full bill again by phone.
So, today he went online to check his bank account. That check he wrote cleared the bank for $100 more than he wrote it for. He looked at the image of the check, and it was clearly altered to make it payable to someone else, they changed the amount, and the date... then they wrote over and over all the other information to make it look dark like their scribbling. Then they cashed it at a local liquor/convenience store.

We called the sheriff and 2 deputies came to take the statement. We called the liquor store and they do have the surveillance tapes for the deputies to see. Tomorrow morning he has to call the bank and close his account. And tomorrow morning I'm taking to our bank to open a new account and have his checks direct deposited.

In the mean time, he's $190 overdrawn because somebody thought they needed his money worse than he did... and all he gets is SS disability.... they stole 1/3 of his monthly income.

I'm soooo pissed... but I'll stop ranting now...

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

BJ, is he being charged overdraft charges by the bank? If so, has he asked to have them waived since forgery was involved? They will often times do that. Surely in his situation they would understand and not hold him accountable for someone elses crime. BTW, if the check was mailed to the utility company, wouldn't it have to be one of their employees who forged it??? I'd be jumping up and down on the desk of the president of the company! Want me to come over there and jump with you???? Grrr .... I'm angry too!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Help coming from here also if needed. That is horrible. I am like Debra, someone in the Utility Department would have had to access to the check. Wishing you all the luck and sending support.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, since the check was addressed to the company out of town, and the check was actually cashed at a local store, we're thinking that it was stolen out of his mail box.

He'll call the bank in the morning and give them the case # the officer gave him... they'll have to send the original canceled check to the sheriff's office. I'll have him ask about waiving the Overdraft fees.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

They'll go out tomorrow, Staceypoo. Just give Janice her hostas when they come.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh BJ, so sorry for the headaches and the check getting in the wrong hands. And if they stole the check from the mail box, that is a federal crime in its self. Hope it all gets straightened out soon.
Linda Kay

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh my gosh, my post was just sitting here never hit the send and now I'm reading what I missed.

BJ, I've still got a lot of craziness in me if I can come and jump on that desk with you and Debra. I can hollar real loud too. I'm so sorry to hear about this. Ask your son where he mailed it. Linda Kay's on to something about the mail being intercepted. The bad guy may have fished the envelop out of the mailbox.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

So sorry about the problems BJ.....we have started having our checks direct deposited, and I think our rent check is the only thing we can't pay on line now......you would think I could pay the rent by card or online since they own this whole housing addition, and at least six big apartment complexes that I know of. I got the online bill pay through my bank so it doesn't cost me an extra 5 dollars to pay my elecric bill now, which the electric company was charging us before. As grandad always asked, "what is this world coming to??"

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

He mailed the check in the envelope that came with the bill.. so, it was addressed to the company, and I believe it was going to Dallas.
BUT he put the envelope in his mail box at the road and put the flag up. I'm sure that's where it was taken. Then they altered the check and went a few blocks away and cashed it. I don't think it was ever received at TXU for an employee to take it.

Believe me... when they catch this person, we'll file every charge against them humanly possible... federal and state...

AND when we do get his bank account set up at the new bank... he'll definitely be paying his bills online... like we do... we almost NEVER write a check.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

We had a mail theft issue in our area a couple of years ago. The thief followed the mailman and then picked out credit cards, medications, and anything else he thought looked of interest. The only thing we missed was a netflix dvd and a utility bill. If he was going to take the BILL, he could have at least paid it! He is now in federal prison. Using a stolen credit card is what got him caught.

BJ, your guy's downfall will be the liquor store video!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Makes you wonder how many other folks' mail he stole and forged checks on, does it?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I hope so... the check was changed to a woman's name... AND the liquor store got a driver's license number and phone number on the check... the deputy said that didn't mean much... it might all be fake ID... so, not to get our hopes up yet.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Wonder if that liquior store has this bad guy as a regular customer?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't know if anyone else is missing mail... so, have no idea.

I do know last year someone used my credit card number in Mexico... really went on a shopping spree... the CC company made it right, and we canceled that card... so, it didn't really cost us anything...
The CC company had mailed me a new card since it was about to go out of date... so, I expect the thief called to activate the card, then fled to Mexico... and to my knowledge, they still haven't caught them.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't know... but it was a rather large check... I can't imagine they bought THAT much liquor... I would have been suspicious because it so apparently was altered... I would have NEVER taken that check the way it looked.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

BJ when you go to the bank if you can get a copy of the check that way you have proof of it being altered.
Take your copy of the police report and or the report number and the name of the officer that took the report.

the over draft charges should be reversed as it is a theft and forgery issue and the bank should replace all the money as they are suppose to have insurance for this kind of stuff.

Do not let them give you the run around on it at all you have been to the police and made a report
then anyone he has sent checks too that have not received them let them know you are dealing with forgery and ask for an extension and you can give them the police report number and the police dept phone so they can confirm if need be to verify
and as for TXU I would call them and give them he!! for what they have just done that is wrong when he is on a fixed income they should have been willing to work with him on it

Linda is right it is a federal crime if they took it out of his mail box ...it's a real pain in the fanny I know had the daughter in law steal 2 books of checks from us and forger over a thous out of our checking and causing a big hassle on alot of bills that were bouncing and she has stole a box of checks from a neighbor in the apt building as they were not put in the mail box but set on the step by it instead and steal checks and CC and money form DH's X wife before finally caught and spent 2 yrs in jail.
