Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ahhh... yes... of course I did get something else...
I got a stack of trays to use for winter sowing from LorainneR as a door prize.

Now, let's just say I got lots of seeds and bulbs... do I have to name them all?

I know the lemon grass was from you... I did recognize that...
I also relieved Phyllis of some of her spent blooms from her purple coneflower, and Lion Tail... LOL... she had to reach the lion tail, it's really really tall... AND I shared with LK.

I got everything potted, I think... except some of the brugs... and, of course... I just filed the seeds in my basket waiting for winter or spring sowing.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

NO.... we can't have the Spring RU in MAY !!!
That's too late... and also... we're going to have our own RU right here at my house... I don't want to share any of you... OK?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

mm nah dont name them all we would hog the thread totally then LOL

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

DEBORAH!!! I am so glad to see you post again dear Sistah!!! I have really been missing you and your comments on the butterflies!! I need you girlfriend!!!!!!!

Debra, sounds like you had a very good day and I hope you are still grinning about your daughter. Doesn't it feel good when you see them in action with their "causes" and realize what wonderful people they have turned into? Inspite of what we did or didn't do raising them. LOL

A very Happy Anniversary Kathy and Mike. Celebrate, it's your day!!

Jaye I was so hoping the game outcome would be so different but alas not to be..........

Phyllis, BJ and Linda Kay, not fair being able to get together and have all that fun, not to mention all the plants, and we couldn't share it with you too!!! Do love the pictures though. Lion's Tail? I know a plant called Lion's Ear and it gets really tall--are the possibily the same? I had some growing in Gainesville but not enough sun here for it.

Tinky, you found the "motherlode" for sure. Enjoy every single item in all the boxes. You have waited this long to open the box what is a few more days?

Hi Cindy, how is the weather today? It was gloomy and overcast here until late afternoon then the sun came out for a little while.

Waving to Laura and Trisha. Where is Tia, Tina or whatever her name is? Been missing her posting with us. Audrey did you get your purse done?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Marion, The wind blew for the last 4 days. It has died down so I'm hoping I can get outside to plant.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well, do take it easy and if the winds starts again--plan something for inside. After after all we have to take care of you so you will join us next May at BJ's.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, that’s great!

Marion, waving back, but I don’t know what sparked that. I’ve been gone for a couple days.

Friday DH had the day off, a very rare occurrence, so we had kid free time. Then yesterday I started a new medication to help with my tendonitis and had fairly bad side effects; headache, muscle aches, low grade fever, and completely hosed. I really am a changeling, space alien or something; the first three side effects were listed, but the first possible side effect listed was causing trouble sleeping, causing sleepiness wasn’t even listed, but two days in a row it’s knocked me out. Other than that I just have a head ache today. It’s only for six days so I’m going it stick it out. It’s already helped a lot with my sprained ankle, even if I’m actually taking it for my hand, which has been bothering me since before Labor Day.

I’ve had tendonitis for over a decade in my thumb; I avoid doing a lot of writing, drawing, painting, etc… I do occasional over do it and it’ll hurt for a couple days and be easier to inflame for about a week after it stops hurting, but this time even though I went out of my way not to use it, it just wouldn’t get better. It got bad enough that Wednesday I tried picking a tea canister and almost dropped it. So I went to the doctor and she gave me a prescription and a referral for an occupational therapist. It would be so wonderful if I could actually use my right hand again. I’m slightly ambidextrous so it doesn’t bother me as much as it might others, but it really limits my art.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Laura sparked what? I was just waving and saying hello to you and your Mom.

Understand about the tendinitis--I am bothered with that and carpal!! Not fun by any means!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

So glad everyone had a good time at the Texas RU! What a spread of food and mega plants! Y'all rubbed elbows with Dave too! Oh My Stars, in my dreams!

I have several pictures to post so give me a minute or two to get them all in. I want to share the love I have received over the last 4 weeks or so. I could not have made the progress thus far without all of you. I am a new founded believer in sending thinking of you cards from this day forward. I plan to buy a stack of them to have on hand. I never realized the positive impact cards, d-mails, phone calls, and DG posts, have on a person feeling blue, sick, or out-of-sorts with the world until I received so many from all of you.

Here is a picture of Marion's butterfly plaques she bought for me on her trip to the committee meeting in Gainesville in mid Sept. They are a perfect fit at the entrance to my back door (carport door, back door guest are best, right!)
Stacey mailed a goreous silver butterfly for Linda Kay to give me. See it on the door window. A beautiful red ruby on the fore wing with the saying "Laughter , Friendship And Love Are Always Welcomed Here.

You don't know how good it is to see you posting again Deborah. Keep it up!!! I sure did miss you and hope you are doing really well.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Do ya'll remember me posting a picture of the butterfly garland Stacey sent me? I believe I remember Cindy asking if the that was a shot of my back yard too?, Well, My Desert Rose was sitting on the table, and was not in bloom. Look at it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yes, it's in full bloom since I've been sick. See the butterfly jar hanging on the window? BJ made that butterfly nectar jar. BJ, please tell us again how you did that, girl friend! Look all the cards! I've never received that many cards in my life. I'm going to cry now.

I missed you Marion. Call me tomorrow, if not, I'm calling you!

This is a pumpkin my son carved for me. He also put together a fairy garden puzzle for me. I forgot to take a picture of it, but will later.

Here's the pumpkin he carved.

I know it looks scary but he's quite harmless.

Now, take a look at this! This cup from Stacy is our rendition of what we all look like first thing in the morning BEFORE our first cup of java.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Now, Deborah... I know that's NOT what you look like first thing in the morning... you're still in your pj's first thing in the morning...
You sure have a bunch of love laying on that table there full of cards...

I'm really happy to see you back... I've missed you sooooo much.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Whew Deborah you had me worried for a second...good thing I don't drink coffee ...LOL
nice pumpkin and cute jar from BJ and love all the butterflies too ...one lucky girl you are there with those goodies

goin to bed here shortly as tomorrow is my first official day as TL3 - team leader 3
it is a work day for teachers and staff so office works and we have a meeting for bus drivers, but since it is a technical day off I can go in at 6am and work my 61/2 hours and go home and not stay till 5pm LOL

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Deborah, those butterflies are beautiful!

That’s a cool Jack-o-lantern, I prefer figures or scenes but my DH does the Jack-o-lantern thing. DH, DSD and I all get our own pumpkins to carve; too many fights otherwise.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Stacey, How Lucky can you get!!!! Sounds like you will be having lots of fun!!!!

Happy Anniversary Kathy and Mike and Many, many more!!!!!

Oh Happy Happy Dance Deborah is back!!!!! (((((HUGS))))))

BJ what a haul!!!! Wish I had the room……may have to take out all the grass next year!

Janice you are way ahead of us on fall color, ours is just getting started but it will go fast!

Linda Kay glad you are safely home! Sounds like you girls had a wonderful time!!!!

Marion waving back!!!!!!!

Deborah, love the butterflies, the beautiful jar and the great jack o’lantern

Phyllis hope you enjoy the new job!! We knew you would get it!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Welcome back Deborah!
now you ask- what did i do on my anniversary? well...... it started out great. we went to dinner, then stopped at wallys to visit tashia. when we got home i took my hummerfeeders down, put them in the mop bucket with hot soapy water and bleach. went to take the bucket out of the sink, it broke, the handle caME OFF, AND I HAD WATER AND BROKEN HUMMER FEEDERS ALL OVER THE FLOOR. IT TOOK 12 BATH TOWELS TO SOAK UP THE WATER. [sorry bout the caps]
then i had to wash 2 loads of towels and give the puppies a bath, cuz they decided it would be fun to roll in poop.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Oh Kathy such fun you had there ....not....I'm glad you at least got to go out for dinner

my hummer feeder broke but luckily it was still outside when ti came apart.

ok off to work I go ladies will pop in when I can otherwise see ya after work
((((HUGS))))

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL-Kathy, that sounds like fun-poop covered pups and water everywhere!!LOL

Deb-I am glad that you've enjoyed everything:) And I will be calling you this next weekend:)

I will have to make a list of all the stuff I got from Loretta-I got LOTS OF EXTRAS!!;)

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Good mawwwwww'nin!

Still on DH's computer and don't know how to use it. Am posting photo of the lap quilt that was raffled off Saturday while he is standing here to tell me how to do it. will be back later to read posts and chat.

Deborah, girlfriend, I can't tell you how nice it is to have you back among us. We were missing a little ray of sunshine while you were away.

Poor Kathy! Buckets of bleach water and puppy poop. Not exactly what you had planned for your anniversary was it? Did you go someplace special for dinner?

Stacey, wish we could be there to see what treasures lie within those boxes. Must be like Christmas morning digging in there and pulling out goodies!

Phyllis, congrats again Ms. TL3! I am so proud of you. They know a leader when they lucky enough to have one on their staff.

It was fun to share the photos of the RU. Haven't looked, but bet there are more on the RU forum? Didn't quite understand where it was held. Nice turnout and sounds like a lot of fun. How cool to have DAVE there with you. Linda Kay, who is that cutie pie you are holding? did you take him/her home with you?

Laura, hope you are feeling better today.

Janice, those photos are breathtaking. What color. OMG - looks like a postcard.

Off for some breakfast and to get dressed. Well, sort of dressed - will be sewing most of the day. Except for bouts of spreading milky spores to kill the grubworms. BJ, thanks so much for endorsing milky spores. It's hard to invest in that much product without a personal testimonial. I got the 40oz bag. Got quite a few beds done yesterday and will do more today. It's a slow process to distribute it then water it in. I'm watering by hand because it's being put in beds first. Will use a sprinkler later when the lawn is treated. Am laughing an evil laugh and thinking die grub worms, die! while standing there with the hose watering it in. It's a sick sort of satisfaction. lol!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Debra-I have the same cat!!LOL My real cat HATES IT!! Every morning when I get up it is laying face down on the floor!!LOL

LOVE that quilt!! Wowsers is it pretty!

I think we all get a sick sort of satisfaction from thinking of dying grubs-BWA HA HA HA

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Stacey. They are cute cats, aren't they? Couldn't resist for only $7 at Wally World. Got the pumpkin there too. I has an electrical cord hidden under the quilt and a little light inside. They are usually on the mantel.

The quilt is not as 'fluffy' as it should be because of my front loading washer. It needs more agitation. The woman who won it can wash it again to fluff it more.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Hey-no fair I got mine about 3 yrs ago at Michaels and I obviously overpaid!!LOL

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Mornin' my sweet sistahs! Debra, your daughter's animal rights campaign and awareness is remarkable. I know you are proud of her. Your beautiful quilt you made for the raffle was a good idea to help with the animal's cause.

I'm a little druggy this morning. Please for give me if I over looked everyone's previous comments. I have read most of this thread. The photo of the fall colors is spectacular. I'd love to have a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle like that to glue and frame. My son made me a fairy scene puzzle that I'm going to frame and hang on the wall in my sunroom.

Laura, I can relate to a sore thumb, but having one for as long as you have has got to be the most aggravating pain there is. Bless your heart, I hope the therapist can get you back to normal use of your thumb.

Kathy, I'm sorry, but I can't help but giggle over all of your fiascoes with your animals. They keep you hopping like having a house full of two year olds. ROFLOL

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Morning my little Georgia Peach:) I didn't know you liked puzzles-I will have to keep my eyes peeled for really pretty ones from now on for you:)

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Morning Staceypoo. Is it OK for me to send you and Janice your plants I've got for the both of you? I didn't know how your weather is.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning All!! Deborah!! How the h%*l are you lol? Sure missed reading posts from you. You can send me my plants too and the EE whenever you feel up to it.

There were some ladies I sent Butterfly Bush clippings to, I just need to know if they survived, BJ's didn't. Trisha, and whoever else I sent them please let me know so I can either send more or replace them.

BJ did you get some BB at the RU?

Cindy

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Hey there my lovely Cindy! Got some of your plants under my carport already to go. Well get them boxed up tomorrow.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Right on, GF I'm hoping to get outside this week and get things planted no wind blowing as of yet (knock on wood) have cannas that BJ sent, about 100 daffodils and a few Iris'.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Phyllis, so glad to hear you got the job! It always feels good when others think we have what it takes (we know we do, but that's a different story).

Deborah, the pumpkin picture is great! I love the black with just the design lite. that is much better than just the pumpkin itself. Wish I could take pics like that!
The quilt is lovely. I really like the material with the fall colors and design. While I love Halloweeen I like to pull out the Fall things in early Sept. and keep them until I put up Christmas. There is something about the colors that make me think warm...chili, gingerbread, carmel apples...see, my mind is always on food!
In fact I am having a cup of tea with some apple pandowdy I bought on my trip. There's enough for you all to share...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Mornin' sistahs.

Still waking up here... but I wanted to comment on that quilt... HOW BEAUTIFUL is that? And how nice of you Debra to do that for your daughter and her cause... what size did you cut your blocks?... and did you sew a border around each one, or was that the way the fabric was printed?

Awww Kathy... Now, that wasn't the way your suppose to spend your anniversary!!!
What? no burned peach pie in the oven? LOL
One of these days, I'm going to have to teach you how to take a vacation in your own back yard... it's a great way to take an "anniversary" get away, without all the trouble and expense...
Don and I have an anniversary this Wednesday... he's off Thursday... and we're taking a backyard vacation that day...

Mawnin right back at ya Deborah... I'm smiling a BIG good mornin' (((hug))) at ya.

Where are you this morning LK? Hope everything is ok... you're usually posting by now.

Well... need more coffee...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cindy... I did get a BB at the RU... it's about 2" tall, and in a styro cup like greenhouse thingie... sure hope they grow fast, cause if not... I should be able to put it in the ground in about 5 years.
BUT, I'm so excited to get some of those daffs... don't even worry about more cuttings.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

bj, any vacation would be welcome right now. just got back from the vet, watered and fed the animals, let the guinneas and bantams out. now i gotta plant garlic and more flower bulbs

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

the BB' s do grow fast. I got mine last summer, they were about a foot tall, now they are about 7-8 feet tall that's why I trimmed them back. I will send the daffs tomorrow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here, just getting a late start!
So tired from that trip, but will do it again to see my Sisters.
Stacey, it is Monday, you going to tell us what you got???
Kathy, Glad to hear you had a nice dinner, but so sorry about the tub ob bleach water and broken hummer feeders!
Deborah, glad to see you here. Take it easy.
Debra, nice rag quilt.

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Whew.... that's good... so, I'll have a BB big enough to put in the ground in the spring... was what I was hoping would happen.

Ok, here's how you take a back yard vacation.
Turn your cell phones off, leave them in the house. Put your resort clothes on... shorts, flowered shirts, flip flops. Pack a beach bag with stuff you'd take to the beach... include a good book. Find a remote area in your yard... like under your gazebo, or on the other side of the house there where you don't have "work" staring you in the face. Set up your lawn chairs, spread a blanket with a picnic basket, a cooler of your fav beverages (Mike's hard lemonaid?), and a picnic basket full of goodies.
Now, you lay back and close your eyes and imagine where you would like to be... describe (out loud) what your surroundings look like... both of you... you both want to be the same place, so agree on if it's a beach or lake or mountains, or whatever.

Now, you lay there and read your book, snack, drink, and pretend your not at home. Every now and then you say things like "isn't it beautiful here", or you point out in the distance and say "Look, Mike, see that sailboat with the pretty blue sail?", or "Look, there goes another flock of those purple smaples"... you get the idea.

And, that's a 1 day vacation that will leave you refreshed and ready to get back to real life again when you get back home.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Yes, Deborah, send the plants. we need to get them in before it is too cold. Right now the weather is great for working outside.
Hey, Tink, I saw just the houses for you on my trip. there is an architect in Charlevoix that designs Hobbit houses. They are about 1/2 doz in one area. Here are some pics. I thought they were wonderful and wanted to move right in.
