Hey, you are right about the plopping. I read those gardening and design rules, but mother nature forgot to and she's been getting along just fine without them.
♥Sweet Interruption♥ 29
That's an idea!. Take a can of spray paint and start meandering around your plants.
Nite sweet Marion.
Much better Phyllis..like BJ said, everything in moderation.
Another thing I'll stop completely this year, Deborah, for winter.. is mulching with straws or barks..
Will be using compost instead. And those leaves off the oak tree will lay on top of the hostas again.
The hostas this year were incredible!!
Last year, we decided to use compost, as advised by a tv personality. The difference this spring!! Those plants are much more remarkable!
ok well didn't think about pics this afternoon when I was cuttin it out but here is one with the pieces foiled.
the pattern I use is to the right of the picture I always make copies of the original one to use instead.
the package of the foil is at the top there with the roll of foil and because I am foiling the pieces I use 60/40 solder (60% tin/ 40% lead)
Each piece of glass is has the foil around the edges as when I go to solder it I will flux it (helps the solder adhere to it) then with the soldering iron I will take the solder and run it along the "lines" putting the pieces together to stay. this will be done on both sides and a wire ring will be attached for hangin it and yes all of this is done on the board it is on right now to protect the counter top.
nite marion
Oh compost is soo much better then straw of bark
we have alot of pine needles and oak leaves that we use and Dh goes around every so often and rakes em up and puts them in the compost pile then we will use that for around the plants to mulch for winter.
Are there any available videos teaching this art, Phyllis?
The pine needles I use in my lasagna beds and of course, camellias. Nothing given by God is wasted here!
mm not sure never really looked...there may be but when you take a class they usually teach using the lead cam first then once you have that they do foil
I put mine around my roses and azaleas since they like the acidity
What kind of compost, Jaye? Do you make it yourself? I don't have enough trees with leaves, mostly pine needles. If they did that much good for your hostas, maybe I need to find someone who wants their oak leaves raked. Good job for my son to do for me.
Phyllis thats a neat project! How much does a solder iron/gun cost? What will those glass flowers be used for? Did you see on T to T, that window with the panes of glass out with the stained glass pieces hanging down from where the panes used to be?
All our hostas circle our old oak tree, so that's one hands free composting! Got only one old pine tree, and I am afraid Kel is bend on cutting it down :(
I need to do my own composting but even if I do, it won't be enough for the garden. I get bags of Timberline brand from Lowe's, mixed with the Black Kow.
This year, we'll get a truck load from a nursery specialist. Oh the vision of pure black soil!!
No classes offered here Phyllis for anything relating to crafts and gardening!
Poor me got to pick up books if I want to learn it.
umm good question I haven't priced anything in a number of years LOL
no I missed that
um is there really a town called jayeville in NC?
Yup, I'm living in it, Phyllis!!
Oh.. you're talking about my official, government sanctioned address... not the one in my head!!
Tabor City
JayeVille is a 3 acre town with a chihuahua for a mayor!

My MIL is from Aynor. It's a much bigger town than here, about 30 mins. away. Lumberton is about 45 mins. and has its own Lowe's.. the town's main attraction.
Do you know the name of the store in Aynor.

Morning Glory!
How's everyone? Already been to the DMV and two banks this morning getting my car title in shape. Kissing my baby car goodbye in about 90 mins.
Hope y'all don't mind humoring me a wee bit, here's a photo of my baby car. I used to buy cars used, run 'em hard, and sell them about the time they needed new tires, within 2 to 3 years. Have had this "mid-life" crisis "toy" for 10 years. Has an incredibly awesome sound system. No more driving down the road with the wind howling around me swamped in luxury opera playing.....or Shania Twain, whichever I'm in the mood for.

Hello, just wanted everyone to know mom got off to Las Vegas without her computer, so she won't be on till late Friday or Saturday. I'm just skimming; I haven't been on since Friday I think, so sorry if I miss anything.
Jaye, lol, mom did watch Sage, but we went to dinner and gambling instead of becoming nudists.
