Love all your red beauties. Do you have Ragin'Cajun ruellia?(Guess the color)

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I do have it but it hadn't bloomed yet. Is it a perennial? May have to wait for next year to see it bloom. Also rose Campion which is in its' first year and no blooms. I also have a red Firespike but the hurricane broke the buds out of it. I didn't know I liked red so much ~ LOL

Some gomphrena sprouted in my xeriscape bed.

My Ragin'Cajun ruellia made it through last winter. It has been blooming half-heartedly all summer. I was thinking I might move it to a part sunny bed.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I could probably fill a thread with purple. Mexican bush sage with purple and red(for you Podster)

My RC ruellia is in full sun but probably inadequate moisture. I have that gomphrena too. That red gomphrena looks more orange for me. It is a carefree plant and I really love the purple gomphrena. Not quite as gangly a plant. I love the riot of color in your (did you say) Xeriscape bed. Look at all that water... LOL

Love your Salvia leucantha ~ purple is my weakness. I have that one and it bloomed well early on. Just starting again.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I think I am also too cheap with moisture.NO! That is not from a sprinkler!!! I took that picture on 09/13. I wasn't sure what to expect so I took pictures just in case and took advantage of clouds.I didn't know the purple gomprena is bushier.I love round shapes.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Do you want some seeds? I won't say bushier but even with my neglect, it is shorter and a fuller plant. The red seems to be reaching for the sky. Sorry I don't have a better photo of the full plant...

I have had purple in the past and now looking at the red, it is more scraggly. I thought it was just the location. I transplanted a little purple one from my lawn. If it doesn't make it to seed, I may take you up on some of your seeds. Thanks

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Your red is pretty with the tall yellow & white blooms you have in that bed. If you have one purple bloom, you will have plenty of seeds.

Red Oak, TX

Pam_in_Texas, thank you for the ID on the hardy plumbago.
bobyrd, thanks for the kind words, I love to garden.
podster, I love that Gloxinia chick, It is new to me and now I have something new to look for.

)~: Still no Spider Lilies, now I'm beginning to worry.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

One of my fondest memories as a kid was when the red spider lilies bloomed because you never knew where one would suddenly appear. Wish I had some now.....

TJ, is the foliage coming up on your spiders? If it is, that means they're not going to bloom this year. If you don't see anything at all, don't give up yet. They're worth the wait.

My two-year-olds are blooming for the first time this year. I added a few last fall, and only one of those is blooming. The others are starting to poke up their leaves, though.

Thanks for the encouraging words Pattie! No foliage, yet.

Sheila- that Cereus is very nice! Cereusly! 2 of those Monarch cats I gathered the other day have made their chrysalis, and the rest are growing fast! Beautiful photo!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks TJ. Make a note when the Monarch makes it chrysalis it will only be 10 days or less that they emerge as butterflies! Herman and I just filmed two emerging this morning and it was awesome!

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow!

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Great photos, Sheila. I love this time of year, when the Monarchs and Queens come through.

Sheila- yes, I have it marked on the calender. A third one was begining its crysalis this morning, and there's 2 others that will be soon to follow.

Yellow esperanza finally blooming. The stalks are as tall as my house but they never bloom until September, then they are stunning and well worth the wait.
