LOL...Wondered how long to notice...I do beleive it is real stained glass! He hehe, funny thing is my neice has little plug in night lights that would match perfectly, LOLOL you know it was difficult to not ask her for them.

The people who threw it away...were re-modeling and just got tired of it!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I want to go to their house for thie leftovers-what a score!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

looks to be real stained glass and from the details it took alot of time cutting glass and foiling it before even soldering it together...I have yet to try and Tiffany lamp of any kind ...I would have done the same if someone was tossing it and I could get to it first LOL

Marion yes I get the picture ...I figured you would figure out the sizes and such better then me I had the thought in my head and had to put it down in text so not to forget it plus to try and explain the "look"

and yes I have been looking at the bug site that is why it took me so long to post ...got side tracked LMAO

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Judy! I may do just that if I can figure out how to save your pics to my computer. I hope someday I can be your swap buddy in some kind of craft. I'd be crafting up something for your cabin!

That's what the saying is One man's trash is another man's treasure. You know when I remodeled (more like spruced up by changing color schemes) I had all 70's downhome country feel and accessories in my house. I just couldn't part with some of them. My little pine china cabinet that my brother made me, for instance. Fits so perfectly in a corner of the dining room and too much sentimental value. But as only varnished pine it now didn't fit in a burgundy and taupe dining room. It stuck out like a sore thumb and really didn't help the room mesh together. So, I brought the new paint color of my redone cabinets into the dining room by painting my brother's pine cabinet. He had a fit, but at least it's not out there in my shed.

I can tell Judy's light fixture is stained glass but it also looks like there may be glass jewels on it too!. So much detail to it. Take a look again and see if y'all agree. That's the cats meow. As a craft, can any plain globe be done like that?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Deb they are referred to as globs and yes I saw them too
if you were to want to make one like that without it actually being stained glass then you would use the glass paints they have out and you could super glue the globs in place LOL

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Would the light still shine through, you think?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

yeah hobby lobby carries stained glass stuff and they have the glass paints there.
I was thrilled when I went to the one in Tyler and they had glass saved me having to look for a shoppe for now

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I've been on the Trash to Treasure threads and saw a few projects but didn't study the techique. Just whoo and ayaa at the time. I think i remember seeing you on there too? I've not considered myself a crafter but these swaps have really stirred my curiousity (yea I can't spell) .

Glenview, IL

See...I've been lurking! ROFLOLOL ear to ear giant grin on my face.

Yep, globes or gobs what did you them... I can't waite to Tell Steve,he will be just so ear to ear tooo.

...oh anyway i have been wanting to learn to stainglass...Have you seen Betty's Spoon Dragone flies?? And Lizrainey's too...I have been wanting to make one for ages...So yeay how cool is that to want to try..Woohoo go for it!!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

I found ya'll!! cabachons..thats what those glass globs are on that fabulous shade the more cabachons the more expensive a stained glass piece is. I have longed for a dragonfly lamp ..sigh. Great score!!!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Judy there should be someplace up there in Illinois that teaches classes for stained glass... Deb ....really there may be places anywhere in the us that teaches it. I took my lessons when I lived in Monticello Illinois think the classes might have been in Champaign- Urbana but don't remember that was like in the early 80's but I knwo Rockford IL has a shop that teaches.

I've popped in the craft threads at one time but never really hung out as I was looking for info on making baskets using vines to use up my wisteria vines and ended up figuring it out on my own LOL

I have yet to really venture into globs in glass pieces ...have to rebuild my glass supply someday ...didn't bring all my "scraps" wtih me in the move

Hey, Fairy, how are you now? You obviously did find those lost bulbs and things from the post office but it wasn't necessarily a good thing.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

So Kim, Judy's light fixture has faceted gemstones (Cabochons) on it? Learned a new word today! Had to go googling....That's what those bubbled globs are, hey? Hey, whoo yooo, JUDY! You've got a TREASURED Cabochon Tiffany lamp globe there, girl friend! Make sure you save that ol' sponge matteress to put on the floor under it before anyone changes the light bulbs. Go ahead and install those $8 packs of life extended light bulbs that last 4 years at a time so noone puts there hands on it that often. We don't want that globe to get broken!

Glenview, IL

OMG...Yes Stacey, How are you??

Glenview, IL

HUH...Hands on the hip shaking my head here!!!

omg, ya wouldn't kid right...Holy Moly I am highly shocked!

A TIFFANY Like ...the Real Deal??

Hot diggety, yow!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

What's wrong with Stacey? Something happen? Janice...what's wrong?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

If ya ever get tired of it....; }

Judy, get it appraised but tell the dealer to come to the cabin to see it and don't ever sell it, just insure it!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Kim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm swallowing hard, OMG how pretty, love the metal, what kind of metal is that, it looks like an antique.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

All this stained glass is making me jealous... I have NO stained glass... and I love it so much.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

BJ, scroll back up there and take a loooonnng look at Judy's dragonfly globe, IT has cabochons on it.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

oooooooooo Kim I like!!!

yeah Judy I think so
Kim's is too for that matter

they take alot of work foiling the edges of the glass in order to solder them together and when they are rounded like that they go on a mold so to speak to keep the pattern rounded.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh all this talk about Judy's light fixture makes me want some for my house. It really is a treasure to put it mildly!!! Hello Kim the exotic, thanks for dropping in to tell us the correct name--I had heard it before but couldn't remember the word!! Age setting in I guess!! LOL

Debra, I ONLY suggested it was a good site, I didn't say you should really look. Besides why should I be the only one broke in this group because of a fabric, swap addiction? LOL I would need to look at the fabric you mentioned to see if it is a double border. Could definitely be a border piece but not sure. So are you now an official member of Fabriholics Anonymous? I have a charter membership of long standing.

Deborah, we are going to teach you to sew--just have to plan out how to go about doing it. I even have 2 machines so you can use of them. Besides with a grandbaby on the way think about all the blankets and quilts that can be done--with butterfly fabric!!

Tinky, be careful. I don't think I would plant hyacinths if they did me like that. Any better?

Okay, Jaye, you and Kel don't make to much noise during the game. I can see it now..... more noise than if you were actually in attendance. I used to do that when hubby was alive but for some reason haven't gotten back into the spirit yet.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Not antique got it years ago from hsn : ) The dragonfly is Louis Comfort Tiffany's signature bug. I want one sooo bad.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Marion!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Just beautimous Judy!! Love it. Always prefer non faceted cabochons as they are so classic looking!
Kim, where did you find that treasure.. and that Grover Washington Jr. will set the mood anytime! He he he!!
Dang.. my Tigers having problems as usual, each time they play at Auburn.
They need prayers, sistahs ;)
Ok..back to the game.........................Stacey better tell us you're okay!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Sounds like a very extensive and intricate art to make one. Kim's is like two in one, with the top and bottom parts. I can see doing one, but duplicating the same to finish another part would take a master crafts(wo)man.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

well keep dreamin then BJ ....here are two pieces I just did last week and am thinking of using them at the Ru on the 11th....for something

When I was redoing the kitchen I ordered two cabinet doors with glass fronts. When they came they were clear glass instead of frosted (I'm not tidy enough for anyone to see into my cabinets) and it was going to take three weeks to reorder. I went to the local stain glass store to see if they would frost the clear panes for me and the guy there said I could have stained glass for not much more. We looked over some simple designs and less expensive glass and came up with something I love. Wouldn't trade it for the world...sometimes problems have wonderful solutions.

this piece I did for DH before we got married ( has been 10 yrs now LOL) ... it now hangs in the kitchen window ...would have been better if I had taken it when the sun was still out but oh well another day LOL

Anybody want a cat? I just turned around and she was sittin on my lamp!!!!!!! She must want to move.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

No more cats, thank you. Would you like some more?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Oh I love those cabinet doors my dream is to someday do that to my kitchen but I had thought of doing it with fruit and veggies ... but not sure LOL

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Those pieces of glass are beautiful. You should be very proud. I always wanted to learn how to make stain glass. My ex took it up after we were divorced and boy, was I jealous.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

NO!
Phyllis your SG is beautiful..I am going to treat myself to classes one day.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Wouldn't that be sump'n if Judy's treasure turned out to be a real Tiffany? Judy, you could retire and hire someone to finish the cabin for you.

Yep, Marion, I found lots of pretties. Don't think I'll order anything until I've investigated the local fabric and quilting stores. There may be treasures right under my nose that I've never noticed before. There are probably many others that would grab me, but I kinda got fixated on the Michael Miller collection. Just beautiful - some were oriental designs with koi, some were florals, some were fun motifs with bugs and fairies. What is it about fabric that attracts us? Is it the color combinations that stir emotions? Is it the prints that bring back memories of times past? Is it the cute little critters that bring a smile to our face? Is it the rich silks and tapestries that create a aura of luxurious surroundings? Or is it all the places our imagination takes us with each different design? I don't know what it is but I really have had a fascination with fabric since I was a kid.

Just finished dinner - a quick homemade spaghetti sauce over spag and some garlic bread. Haaaaah! Can you smell my garlic breath?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well I know a really nice shop that teaches it but unfortunately it is Trenton, Fl. That is about 1 1/2 hours from here even. One outstanding teacher!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Debra that sounds good--tuna salad here, with fresh corn, sliced tomatoes. To tired from working in the yard to do much else. Man was a no show!! Urrgh!!

I don't know what it is about fabric but I can look at my quilting magazines for hours and totally relax, dream and stress just goes out the window. Better than tranquilizers for me!! Well, when you are ready I can give you some more sites that would tickle your fancy for sure!!! LOL
