great pic Judy love them
♥Sweet Interruption♥ 28
Ok now this is the rest of the Great room. We spend alot of time in this section to enjoy the fire and the heat. We thought having a stove for heat would be wonderful country, and more woodsy feel to the home. LOL, We like it so much, we purchased a baby stove for the basement. I have no pics of the basement but that is only used when we have excess company. Eventually, it will be the Playroom.
Oh, since this picture was taken, The wall is has been finished with Wisconson River stone. Wear you see the firewood closet, used to be the opening of the bathroom, LOL we didn't want people to see the bathroom while trying to enjoy the fire, so move the door to otherside.
100 year old cabin? How cool is that! You've done a lot in 3 years. We got a glimpse of the wood floors - they will be fantabulous when refinished. Will you be spending all summer there? Nothing is as restorative as spending time with nature. How many kids do you have, Judy? What do they do to entertain themselves while there?
That photo is contagious! Now I'm laughing!
Well and here they are sweet as can be, we enjhoy family time up there as life in Illinois gets a bit insane.
Oh, and We spend alot of weekends there during summer and a couple of time in the winter. Last year I was called back to work full time so No more week stretches. Dh goes alot more then we do depending on whats up on home front.
Left to right, Julia, Jacob, Sabrina. See how they are dressed? Thats how warm it gets in the room, This was in january!
BJ! Ya gotta do the candles wine and bubbles. I speak from experience, it is divine pick u up.
I didn't read anything below - I love your bathroom!
now, we found that we, too, seldom used the tub, but .....,,,,,,,,,.well, let's just say that the double shower in the master bath at the big house came to be called our "adult playground" and leave it at that.
I used to soak in the big tub in hot water upto my neck - heaven for sore gardening muscles. One day Randall got silly, he wanted to "use the shower" and I was in the tub already by the time he came upstairs from his beloved basement, so he climbed into the tub. I had water to neck, and it went everywhere - he's size 3X !! what a mess.
Bet You Didn’t Realize:
Doctors:
(A) The number of doctors in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by doctors per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per doctor are .1714.
Guns:
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (yes, that’s 80 million).
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental gun deaths per gun owner is .001875.
So, statistically speaking, doctors are approximately 90 times more dangerous than gun owners. Remember, guns don’t kill people, doctors do.
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!
Out of concern for the public at large, we have withheld statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.
Careful there, BJ ..... you're ALMOST talking about my DH. LOL!
Judy, the view is breathtaking. Someone (your DH?) was brilliant to design the center deck railings in the sun pattern to accentuate that view of the lake. He must be a contractor? He sure knows what he's doing - and has good help, of course! Thanks for the closeup of the light fixture. I zeroed in on that in the previous photo and hoped for a better look. Why would anyone throw that away? It's beautiful. Congratulations on a job well done.
Oh Judy, how wonderful. Thanks for showing the pictures. Kids are good looking too!!
BJ, how funny. Need to send that to my son for sure. He is into building guns as a hobby. Has done some really nice ones so far. To bad, he can't get paid for this talents in that area--very detailed!!! He also made a powder horn from an old cow horn with scrimshaw of Br'er Rabbit all over it!!
Phyllis, I think we should consider the center of the block size to be about 6 X 6 inches with added strips to make the block a 12 X 12 (actually 12 1/2 X 12 1/2 ) before setting into quilt. The added borders could be 2 " of the fabric to represent our likes and then a common color--say black to go around that piece. Then when it is put together using what ever color we want to match the area it might go together a little better. Follow me? Let me put it this way: fabric representing us cut 1 1/2" wide, then black border cut 2 1/2--I think that is right. So it would finish: 6 X 6 photo piece; 1" fabric representing us inside border and 2" outside border of black or whatever color we chose. Just thinking out loud on this to work out some kinks!
Deborah, you are not to worry, I am close enough to do or help you with your sewing for sure.
Neat site to look for fabrics: Bugfabric.com
Thank You Debra, Mibus BJ and Deborah! Sunch nice comments.
Lets see if i can remember to answer some questions.
We share this house with some cousins and They didn't not appreciate out creative sunbusrt with the railing. LOL, but everyone else enjoys it so we keep it... Yes DH and I actually created it together We wanted something different then boring old straight rails. We are concidering putting one in the greatroom floor as well, just in front of the sliding doors. Thank you, This renovation has been literally done with all of us working on some part of the house, Kids included. Jacob learned to do siding last year. The girls learned about insulationa dn pulling wire. DH Mastermind and with the help of my Brothers and a couple of friends...whew. It has really been alot of fun to do.
The first year was pretty rough, the place was abandoned for 8 years and so the deteriation was horrific. But we got a glimpse of the sunset and saw the potentiol of the house. We decided it was ours. We have been renovating home and property since the early 80's.
Every house We bought Were handyman Specials. While that house was being gutted so Was This house in Illinois...LOL never ending, as Ours is always last...But We gutted Our great room here Last year and what was to be a two week project took almost 6 Months! But it is done...Will tell you more on that when i get pictures...LOL, giving yall a rest for now...

I have been sitting here trying to get over an allergic reaction to hyacinth bulbs I got today:( I planted some last year w/ no problem-got a box and was looking through it-less than 5 mins later my face and neck were all broke out, I scratched it then my shoulder and arm-and I think you know where this story ends up:(
seedtosser, I want to move to your house - that view is a killer and I really like the look of that light wood.
Cindy, I loved your bath, too
we have a lot of decorating talent on this thread. but not at my house.
this has been delayed almost 2 hours - have had folks trying out my convertible all day.
Did they buy it, Bon?
Yikes, Stacey. I didn't know you could have a contact reaction to hyacinth bulbs. Does Benedryl help?
Oh, forgot to share that I killed a baby copperhead last night. It was in the driveway by the garage door. Got him, but you know his mamma and brothers and sisters are nearby.
We rounded up our frozen foods that had been adopted out during the power outage. Just finished putting them away. There sure is a lot of empty space in the inside freezer. Must have thrown out more than I realized as we unloaded it. Same for the refigerator side. The outside chest freezer is about the same.
I'm back!! But got to get snacks prepared for the game. I shall return and catch up with postings.
Boy am I glad you all have been busy without me!
Geaaaaaaaaaaaaauxxxxxxxxxxxxx LSU Tigers!!!!!!!!!
Jaye, when you have time, will you tell me what your connection to LSU is? I keep forgetting to ask.
Marion, SHAME ON YOU! I believe you would be called an enabler. We were talking about our fabric addictions and you post a link to a site with all that cute stuff? How could you? (BTW, what do they mean when they describe one as Michael Miller Posey Border (double border)? Reference Style: 3663multi I'm assuming it's for a quilt border? See what you've gone and done.)
Watching Fla and Tenn, Fla ahead, yea.]
Getting ready for dinner then Ga
Judy, I the inside Pine? If Judy's gone, somebody tell me before the Game starts at 8pm. We in major decision at my house over Judy's cabin. Key word Judy mentioned is looking at the surroundings and the potential. It ain't got to be a turnkey new cabin. (my son wants one on the lake one of these days) We are going back to review these pictures, I just hope I can find this thread again. It might be three or four months down the road when Judy's cabin comes up in conversation again.
Oh no, Stacey - Michael Miller also has a fabric called 'Peeper Fairies'. It is precious!
http://www.bugfabric.com/michael_miller.htm
OMG, Michael Miller has gorgeous fabrics. WARNING - DO NOT GO THERE!
Those fairies are adorable!!LOL
I guess it is common-it is even in the PF for hyacinths-the funny thing is I am ONLY allergic to Benedryl and normal seasonal allergies!!LOL I am sooo making DH plant them and as soon as he gets home he is throwing them all out in the garage!!
Colorful butterflies on brown and I can't sew. Thanks Debra (I'm not smiling) Don't say it, I know, I read the warning.,
Judy's trash to treasure light fixture is of Dragonflies! Wow!
i warned you ........
You had to go and say it, LOL
OMG-I didn't realize it was of dragonflies!! That makes it even better and I didn't think that was possible!!
Dragonflies on a light fixture in a cabin on a lake = perfect
Why would anyone want to throw that away? Betty would appreciate it - since she does stained glass. Wonder if it's real stained glass or a very good look-a-like? That's a big time trash to treasure score!
LOL, Deborah, Yes that is pine. It is carsiding. tongue and groove... very nice to install. It will darken in time too.
Whenever you are ready I can always Dmail you photos too. or you can actual save any of these photo's to your computer!
Yes, key to any place, we think is the potential and how much it will cost to re-store or fix up.
We love the remotness of the Cottage. You can't tell but we have only one neighbor who lives up the road a bit. We are Surrounded with woods, and the lake it's just incredible to escape to.
Well enjoy your game, I am off to enjoy a fire tonight! Will send up some smoke in prayer for all my friends here...
May you have a restful evening,
Thank You Marion and Fairy cutie any time...well better d-mail first and let me know your coming, Doors are always open, lol here or there!
