Take a mirror that faces the light-put shear type curtains on it-ones that let light through, but not thin enough to tell and hang them from a rod above it:) Gives the illusion of a window:)

Good idea Staceypoo!
Thanks for all the nice compliments everyone. Sorry, I got another call from a neighbor saying "I have Woody". Ugh! and had to go pick him up. He's here one minute then, the next, a neighbor is calling. He likes to go 'visiting'.
Tina, Tia - it's not about comparing. Please don't shy away from sharing with us. I actually hestitated to post photos because I did on another forum once and was never treated the same. Yes, I'm very blessed to have the opportunity to build a home like this. Yes, I know most people don't get that opportunity. Yes, I'm thrilled to be living here and am very thankful for it. And yes, I am self concious sometimes because I don't want anyone feeling they can't 'compare' or think I'm 'showing off'.
Lordy, if ya'll only knew where I came from ....... raised by a single mom with no child support, a house with paint peeling off of it and no air conditioning until I moved into my first apartment, a family station wagon with paint peeling off of it, homemade clothes, etc. I just happen to be lucky enough to have a wonderful DH (and no, he's not my first - or second) who is fortunate enough to have a good job. But there is no guarantee for tomorrow. It's just stuff - not what's important in life. I sit here envious over so many of your wonderful family relationships and grandkids and big open hearts and acts of kindness ...... geesh, how did I get so far off track? LOL! Blah Blah Blah
If ya'll ever got me talking after a glass or two of wine there's no telling what I might reveal. Gotta run again. Late for the nursery open house and still have to wrangle Woody into his crate before leaving.
What's that character on Saturday Night Live say? "Talk amongst yourselves" tee hee
Debra... I never once thought that of you. So, you have a nice house... you still put your panties on one leg at a time... don't you?
Jaye, Do you use those cook books or just collect? I love to cook and try new recipes but Rick is a very pickie eater, he won't eat hashbrowns at resturants not cooked he says but he eats potatoes almost every meal.
Oh, Debra, I love all the windows in your dining room. That and the french doors. No wonder you garden...can see beauties from inside.
WOW alot of reading and some Great looking rooms!!!
I'll gladly take any of those rooms in trade for mine ...LOL..I love a big kitchen but the cabinets are homemade and show it and the flooring and carpet in this house are from back in the 80's
I want to replace all the flooring and redo the kitchen ..new cabinets, a permanent island in the center with the wire rack hangin from the ceiling to hang things on .....then add a sunroom on to the back of the house for year round sitting and plants LOL...but it is all someday
Take one room at a time, sistah.
I am so sorry I didnt mean it that way, I want your windows with a tall dark handsome mad to clean them for me. I live in a Mobile home, used. I have 45 acres at my whim. I have no neighbors to speak of. I have my goods and I have my bads. But I love it. I do not regret anything. Well except I cant find that tall dark handsome guy yet. Please show your pictures.
think we can get into one of them shows that will come in and remodel in 30 minutes. Well actually a weekend. While I am at the spa.
Tia, Tina, Whatever, I am with you on that one. Come in and remodel while we are at the spa for sure. I have the windows but noone to clean them. I hate doing that!!!
Debra, you are so right Sistah, none of us know where the others have come from to get where we are. You have earned your house so enjoy every inch of it to the fullest. I grew up in the county and I do have trouble sometimes when I see where I am. Was fortunate to marry someone who loved his work and excelled at it but it is all very materialistic (is that spelled right) in the end. I don't judge by what other have and certainly hope they don't judge me that way either. I am me, always have been always will be-take it or leave it! Enough of my soapbox.
I like Phyllis idea of the fabric but there are special pens you can purchase to sign the fabric that will be permanant. Not real expensive. There is alway things to print pictures off the computer but for the life of me I can't think of the name now.
Kathy, tomorrow is the big day right? Oh I can hardly wait to see pictures of the little (?) lady!!
Cindy, would you believe that I actually cook sometimes!! Love to cook, but Kel has been spoiling me so much and we both love to try out new restaurants. Coming from a mixed background, my collection include Chinese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian and of course Cajun. Besides, Kel contributes to 1/3 of the books, as he can cook too.
Someone says she reads cookbooks like novels.. that's what I do at times. But I picked up new ideas and apply according to our taste.
My favorite author is still the late Julia Child.
Debra, you are so right, stuffs are stuffs! Had a past some of you can say I've been lucky, but stuffs don't make you happy unless you have a wonderful partner.
Jaye, I can imagine you are one fantastic cook!! I have a feeling Kel might be also. Enjoy being spoiled, I think Kel enjoys doing that for you!! The picture you posted was as I imagined him to be--friendly, smiling and overall a kind sweet person. It shows!!
Yep, BJ, one leg at a time. 'Cept mine are more like bloomers.
I highly doubt that Debra!!! I picture you more in leggings.
Naw, I call them 'mamaw panties'. It's all about comfort.
ROFLOL Oh no, you don't want to know the picture that conjures up in my mind for sure! Thinking 98 year old grandmother and her droopy drawers!!!
LOL... I wear Maw Maw panties too... all cotton, all the way up to my waist, and all the way down to my hip bone... full and comfy.
Oh That is what you call Mawmaw pants? Then I wear them too but that isn't what we called Mawmau pants when I was growing up for sure!!! Big, billowly legs that could pass for a tennis skirt!!!
Don't forget the little whit night cap. Who wears flannel nightgowns?
Marion, think parachute.
Well, BJ, I'd wear cotton but my outer clothing sticks to it. Guess I 'sexy' up my mamaw panties by them being nylon with lace at the top.
Okay Debra, thinking parachutes!! LOL
I wear fannel in the winter such as we know it down here. Also we keep our heat turned extremely low at night!!! Nothing better than a long baggie flannel gown and down comfortors on the bed. Oh my good sleeping--oh yes window open too
It sure is! LOL, love the Christmas pj party. I'll toast to that, Debra!
Cute flannels... Now, I don't think you can get more casual than that. LOL
got lost with all the goings on today and posted on the other room soooo.....
Have a friend from out of state visiting for a few days, hard to get computer time...
Haven't found any pictures of me, I always work from the other side of the camera...Laura got out the camera when we cam back from our bike ride last night, getting dark, we're hot, sweaty and tired but it is the best I can do, right now...we finished with "the big kids" last night!!
.
ROFLMAO...no flannels here not cold enough to me for them
as for the panties ...hahahahahahahaha...ummmmmmm ...hahahahahahaha....ROFL...
Hey Marion just hit me as I read your post on the square Idea....
.iron on transfer....
picture this ....
everyone picks out a fabric that "represents" them....then a piece of white material say 5x5 that has a picture of that person on it by way of a transfer ...they have them for computers and printers and their signature done with the permanent fabric pen...then the fabric that was picked out is used to frame the picture piece.then they are all pieced together to make a wall or small throw quilt.
now it wouldn't' be fair to only have one though so someone or a couple would have to make one for each person and the fabric used in between the squares could be done in a color to match each living room, den or where ever you want to hang it....but keep in mind I am doing my first ever quilt and I have not done the stitching that is done to quilt it to the back material yet LOL
Just an idea that popped into my silly head
sorry I was not here all evening was watching speed racer on tv with DH
Deb, remember what you said about "there's no Guarantee about tomorrow?" Been there, done that, had my "dream house" that literally turned into a nightmare within 3 weeks. wanna see?
so don't ever appologize for it. Enjoy it and let some of us live vicariously
I don't even want to look up my photos of it - here's it on the tax assessor's records - 2001 gave those lions to Randall for his birthday to remind him of the wonderful honeymoon we went on. And my red convertible in the drive. which is on craiglsist for sale as we chat.
Before
Trisha, that looks like fun. Is that called a tandem bike? Do you always ride tandem or do you also have seperate bikes? It sounds like you bike a lot. You must be in great shape. You sure look it!
That's a beautiful house, Bon. I'm so sorry for what ever happened. You seem to have a great attitude. Not sure I could do the same. Well, I guess if it was just 'stuff' but still had DH and family I would be grateful for that.
Sorry sistahs... gulped down some Tylenol and had to stay away from the monitor's glare for a while.
Phyllis, it's a great idea. Just remember to include 1/4inch seam allowance for any squares cut.
Debra, I'm sure it is called a tandem.
Trisha, did you and your DG build that? You don't find not one of them around here.
A beautiful house Bon. So sorry you lost it. But Randall's there with you, and his worth supercedes all your worldly posessions.
I now shall retire for the night. Please don't forget to pray for some of us that need them more.
Rainbow dreams my sisters.
It is a tandem.....I used to ride single some, still do occasionally to the grocery store but DH keeps selling my singles because I don't ride them enough.....and, on the tandem he can't ride off and leave me. This particular bicycle is one we built about 30 years ago, one of the last paint jobs I did. On Tuesday and Thursday nights we have a group of anywhere from 10 to 40 riders and we choose a route and ride 25-35 miles depending on the weather. After the time changes and it gets dark early we teach an indoor trainer class over the winter. Sundays we have a smaller more leisurely group and do any where from 25-60 miles. I would probably be in great shape I could keep my mouth shut and my knees would quit hurting! You need to expend more calories than you take in....I have difficulty with that part! When the kids were little we did a 1000 mile ride form here to San Francisco....DH said I am the only one he knows who did a ride like that and Gained Weight!!
Debra-I am sorry if my raving made you feel uncomfortable-it is just that your house is exactly the dream house that DH and I want if we can ever afford it-the house we have now is nice, but needs work that isn't apparant to people at first site (like the rotting front door frame) so I have gotten that too from people I have met in person (same thing with my car), not here on DG..I would be happy in an apt as long as I had DH, the cat and the dog...
Panties-what are those-we are supposed to wear something under our pants and skirts-hmmm-my momma never told me that....I am gonna have to investigate that....
And who sleeps in pajamas-what are those-you guys are using all kinds of unfamiliar phrases-I am lost...;)
Tina-one of my friends won a makeover like that from a local radio show-they got like $15,000 to redo their kitchen
Trisha-HELLO-nice to finally see you!! That is too cool and very ambitious that you ride so much on a regular basis!!
When we first moved into our house we painted a few rooms, and have done a few things since, but paint is the easiest, cheapest way to give a room a new look, and we like cheap!!LOL I was excited last year when I went to Lowes-they have prefabbed counters that have the nice rounded edges that do NOT look cheap like the ones we have now, so for about $350 we can do all the counters in the kitchen-that is next in line after the 1/2 bath and the dining room:)
Stacy I think the panties are something you are suppose to wear for when you have an accident so they are clean ....ya knwo the saying make sure you have on clean undies in case you have an accident and
pj's ( hey those are my initials if using my maiden name LOL ) are something you wear before you go to bed especially if you have company or kids in the house
Nahhh-DH is a closet nudist!!;)LOL
LOL
I am sooo serious-he would love to walk around naked all the time, but I refuse to shut all signs of daylight out, so it is a pipe dream for him!!LOL
Stacey, he needs to live out here in the boonies like us. DH thinks the biggest benefit of living here is being able to pee anytime he wants without going inside the house. It's a wonder he hasn't killed the grass or some of my shrubs. He's been known to walk outside nekkid, too. I keep telling him that we do have neighbors riding 4-wheelers through the property next to us more often than he realizes but that doesn't deter him. We have a large window over our master bathtub that didn't have curtains until this past year. They don't get closed very often - only at night when it's brighter inside than outside. It's nice to soak in the tub with a glass of wine while watching deer at the pond.
OH my goodness, one would have a hard time getting me out of that bath. Very nice view. Hot bath, glass of wine, wait it would have to be a bottle. And a view. Could not ask for anything more.
