Glad your feeling better BJ, it seems the stomache flu is going around my mom was sick all last weekend.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Why are you digging cannas. They should be hardy to winterover in ground, right? Or are you jut reorganizing your canna bed?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I was thinking the same thing as to why BJ was digging her cannas...

I don't know how to do the diary thingy...

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

waiting for bj to answer. maybe shes gonna give them to me?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Just title a TAB. Then start adding ENTRY to it. You can LOCK IT if you don't want anyone reading it. Or don't click LOCK then folks can read it. I have some I need to delete that I started and never followed through with. But that's where I keep gardening and butterfly notes and every plant purchase I make.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, Deborah... the cannas were just suppose to live there until I got their bed ready on the lower level. That was last year. This year, they've about quadrupled in numbers, and I have to get rid of some. Plus, they're blocking the sprinkler heads. I'm taking some of the cannas to the RU next month...
Funny, three years ago I moved 3 giant red cannas from my mom's house, and 3 Richard Wallace Cannas from from my house to here. They have multiplied so fast that they've taken over everthing. I've already given away more than I kept, and I still have too many.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, if you want some cannas, just speak up... there's plenty to go around.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

ME ME ME ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Okey Dokey Kathy... but don't hate me in a couple years when you have to thin them out.

Plant them in an open area where they can clump... they'll clump really really fast.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

they ones i have are blooming. i love them. they can multiply all they want. zillions of times

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm still getting a few Richard Wallace blooms (yellow)... the giant reds are in constant bloom... and will until frost.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i don't have any reds, and 1 yellow

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Don't forget me BJ, swap for Butterfly Bush remember?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Don't plant the giant reds near the house... they're called giant for a reason... they'll get as tall as the house.

I had some next to the house year before last, and they bent over under the eaves. I dug those and gave them to my son, and now he's got more than he can handle too.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Got you down for a box full of them Cindy...

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

they can grow wherever they like. bazillions of them

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Thank You! Thank You! I have 1, that I received from catspower. Can't remember what color, but I don't care.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Deborah, do you want some cannas?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Bj, but I'm canna rich. Going to start digging some of mine up too, much later in the fall though. I'll be giving these away along with confederate rose cuttings, brug cuttings, ee's, white gingers, mexican petunias, and probably other perennials too. All these will be offered to my sistahs of course! Anyone wanting to be on my list, hollar now! That will help me keep track. edit to say, d-mail me to help me remember when time comes to dig, clean, pack and ship.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I stole some peach ones from a neighbor this year... just 3 roots... there's now a doz stalks in that clump... so, next year I might have some of those to trade (or give away).

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'd love to have some Confederate Rose cuttings, when you have some. EE's too.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

What are ee's and mexican petunias.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Elephant Ears... Mexican Petunias make a little bush and have a petunia like bloom on it... mine's purple.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

deb, me me me me. mexican petunia please, and maybe a canna or two. my confederate rose started blooming yesterday

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

None of that is hardy for me:(

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Can I find the Mexican Petunia in the plant files?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

No EE for me but I would like a huge leaf. I want to make a birdbath.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, you can find Mexican Petunia in the plant files.
I'll send you a leaf when I send your cannas... don't quite know how to keep it fresh during shipping, but I can try.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh, Thanks BJ

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh Brenda you so know I want some. PWEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Hugs Wubs ya, cant wait to see you in a few days.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cindy, I just went out an measured an EE leaf, so I can start thinking about a box. To keep it flat is going to be a problem. 17"wide, and 2 1/2' long... shipping for a single leaf would eat my lunch... sorry, but I don't even know what kind of shape it would be in when it got there.

You sooooo got some Tina... not to worry.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

What if you rolled it up lightly? But don't worry I'm sure I could find some around here somewhere.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

BJ, gotcha down for Confederate Rose cuttings and EEs. I'm sending Cindy a box anyway, so I'll include some EE leaves with stems. They'll fit in the box I have going. I have two kinds of EE's that are ready to divide. The green one is a fast runner so be careful where you choice to plant it. The Black Magic (I think that's the name) stays put in a big clump.
Kathy, sure thing, girl friend. I'll send you 3 different sizes of Ruellia brittoniana; tall purple blooming (6'+tall), some medium pink blooming (3'+/- tall) and some short ground cover purple blooming (-8"). Cannas will be a variety of colors but I'll mark the sacks.
Cindy, I gotta covered, sweetie. I'll take some pictures of these and also reference plantfiles for the ones similar to what I have. I don't know the cultivar name but can come close to making a guess with the pictures in plantfiles. Since I have a box coming to you, I'll include some EE leaves and a root incase you need to grow them out should the leaves die before you get a chance to make your birdbath.

Well, Staceypoo, I'll see what I can do for you, girl friend. How about a daylily and a Hosta? Her Majesty's Wizard daylily and Majesty Hosta might just fit the Bestest Fairy's garden.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

deb, thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooo much. you are great!
you too BJ

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh Deb you are a sweety. I can not wait to get my beds really going so I can see wht someone wants and just get it in the mail to them. Hopefully next year.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Sistahs, anyone else want a box of plants from me? Might take me awhile but I'm good to my word.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL-I will have to look those 2 up;) Thanks for thinking of me:)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, OH... OH... Deborah... I would love to have some of that short ground cover purple blooming (-8") too... I always need ground covers... and the more they spread the better for me.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Has hand in the air. I love boxes. I have quite the collection now.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh ground cover yes yes yes. I need something for me catfish pond. Its red clay tho.
