Oh Sandra Thank You! She has the misconception that it gets 50 below every winter, and it's that cold by October 15th and stays that cold until May 15th. That could've been my fault as I reminded her that the northern winters start sooner and end later than ours down here do, then the lady at the campsite told her All of the campgrounds close on October 15th because it's below freezing by then. I also reminded her, and she saw, all of the population and the mall. If it was that bad it wouldn't be populated up there. lol

LOL Crissy. We have some crazies up here on the lake that water ski past Thanksgiving. We even get 50 and 60 degrees ABOVE freezing in Jan and Feb. Two springs ago, we were in high 80's first of March. But, sad but true, we really can't start our growing season as early as we would like because even tho it maybe 75 degrees at the end of April for example, we never know when one of those Alberta Clippers might blow in and it takes just one night of below freezing to wipe out everything. Then when that happens, it will stay warm for the rest of the year. LOL

Up the thread aways we were talking about something that resembled Morning Glories. If you take a look at the pic I just sent, this is a good example of what I have. It produces white flowers but has those more pointed leaves. It is pretty, but really destructive.

Hurrah, got my grout done, only thing that remains is new trim on the kitchen window...let me tell you, not a good week, sore shoulder, sore tummy, ear ache and just a while ago while wiping off the grout I was crouched down balancing myself using my knee's, went to turn around and Missy (kittie) was laying behind me, started to meow loudly so thought I hurt her, tried to support myself and get away from her, and yep, twisted my foot...sooo I've got to wash kitchen floor to get the wite grout dust off, windex kitchen window and side door, bit of grout landed on it, sweep living room area, see some grout dust floated in there, bath and to bed...place for me, seems I'm an accident waiting to happen this week..

Stopped at Bernie's and he had mega tile but each square of 12" x 12" was mini 1/2 inch blocks type you put in commercial shower...wasn't what I was looking for...I want the mesh 12" x 12" tiles but want the individual tiles to be at least 2" and a shinny surface so they are easy to keep clean...need to go to home depot in the morning so will check things out...

Will post to you all later or in the a.m......need another pain killer...can I say bad words...%^%$%^ )(*&^$$!!!! and that's just how I feel....

Sandra--

The big white flowers you posted--with Amiyah in front--are NOT Morning Glories.
They are the 'wild and native" forms of Daturas---also called Jimsonweed. These self-seed and come up every year. As in all Daturas--ALL parts of it are toxic if ingested.

Daturas have now many wonderful variations. I have the Double Purple Datura Metel and also the Double Yellow Daturas. Wonderful and beautiful additions to your garden.

I have many seeds of both--if you would like to have some.....

Here is a picture of the Purple Double one.

Gita, Will animals like cats bother or eat Daturas or do they leave them alone? I am sorry, they are very pretty but not my fancy but my good nieghbor wants one and she has 10 cats. If they will be alright with cats I think my sister has some so will try to get her one. HUGS BEV HI everybody. Bless you all. Wish me luck on my plant sale tomorrow!!!

Cats won't eat Datura or the related Brugmansias, they actually have a smell about them that cats don't like. I started mine in the house one from cutting and the others from seed and my cat always gave them a wide berth. I think she was happy when I put them outside because they were taking up one of her sun patches, I took the plant outside, came back in and she was lying right where the plant had been with her eyes all slitted, getting ready to sleep!
