crissy celebrating is always better than work..so enjoy...
Sandra, have friends in Clear Lake think it's about 1 hr.'s drive from near where you live, have you ever gone to the Little Falls Craft show, over 1,000 tents set up...went 2 years in a row, absolutely my cup of tea....last time it was when I flew so couldn't bring back as many goodies as I wanted....if you haven't been, better schedule a trip..think it was on though a few weeks ago...
Tired/tired today, wish I didn't have the girls painting tonight but they are doing witches and weeks are dwindling down for them to finish on time to hand on their doors so, once they come I'm sure I'll wake up...
Parked my car in Barrie this morning, Suzanne dropping me off..wanted to go to Michaels but there is no time..I'm driving in on Friday so will make it then...
1/2 hr. to go..can't go soon enough..only thing getting me through today is listening to Paul get excited about doing new letterhead and business cards for our new location, making plans with Bell Canada for phone installation so unless something major happens, we're out of here..just so excited..
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #60 visit with friends...
That's exciting Betty! You'll be alright this evening once they show up and everything starts.
Hi Betty,
I hope the class went well.
Crissy, Hope your celebration for directr was good!
I'm wiped so will say good night.
Yes Judy, almost time to call it a night as well, doubt I will sleep..prayers that angels will watch over Jesse till we're back on-line in the morning...
Just answered another of her d-mails, my heart just aches!
Won't post a best or a worse...but,
What did I learn today???
not a nice feeling to feel so helpless and unable to take away the pain of others how ever much we want to...after all the Lord is in charge of plans right?
night night...
Morning everyone, it's a beautiful fall day, sure wish I could have stayed home today but you can't stay home on Thursday, it's payday and then of course you can't stay home on a Friday, it's a short day and day after payday..lol..so here I am..brought more santa faces to paint - not many - only 6 were dry enough..more to pour tonight...so that and baby blanket will keep me entertained...
Know you are all outside putting your gardens to bed, I envy you...
Share some stories and photo's today..
Feel as though I need to fill in my day with friends
Betty I don't have much time but thought I'd pop in and say hi! Just to many things to do and I haven't gotten started yet. Our weather will be changing soon. Getting cooler and I don't want to be out in the colder weather doing those things!
If I can will pop in later. Stay busy and keep your mind occupied! The day will go faster then! I hope!
Hi everyone! Dragonfly, Fred and Esther is just gorgeous! I didn't know you could grow Cannas from seed and get them to bloom the same year, very interesting!
I may have to try it next year so I can get some nice pink ones. I have red and orange now and they are pretty but I only want the maroon and green foliage of the red flowered one, I always cut off the flower. I am thinking I might be able to get some nice foliage ones with a bonus pink flower if I grow from seed. Thanks fr the idea, I'll have to surf the web now, bye!
Bev, no I've received seeds from other dg members, some were inserted in cards, others in little packages, not sure the pkg said 'seeds' but I've gotten them all and have beautiful flowers this year from the seeds..appreciate your sending me some...
Vicki how right you are, sometimes we wait till the last minute and then freeze doing what could have been done in sunshine....was thinking that over the next 2 weekends I'd put some of my garden things away and take out some halloween and fall decorations...that would be the smart thing to do...
Funny on Sunday cousin Linda visited and when we were out front, was telling her how pretty the yard looks all decorated for christmas and with christmas music playing and lights flickering because I have that Christmas sound system that makes the lights flicker to the music, so to show her I had it on, entire neighborhood could hear it, she said if I was HER neighbor, she knows where my music machine would be...lol...
Think everyone is thinking fall/thanksgiving (for us 2 weekends away) and Christmas...that kind of feel in the air...
So do enjoy getting many of your projects done..
Hi there Terri, how are your gardens doing, imagine your weather is much the same as ours...perhaps hotter??? yep, see a photo, do some investigating and next year you'll have similar beauties...
I have many canna's in the ground, guess I was late putting them in, haven't had a flower, bulbs right, must take them out of the ground before they freeze, if I do, no flowers for sure...
Deborah, how are you doing, have you managed to get DH in for further tests or make it to emerg??? let us know, all sending prayers...
Linda Kay, you up and 'running' yet? Feet healing..would imagine you get stitches out shortly do you not...
Liz, mailing you the information on the Victorian Santa...
Hi Betty, yep hotter than you, the nice thing is that I don't have to dig up things like Cannas because the ground doesn't freeze. Good thing too, because I would never get around to digging them or if I did, they would never be found again in the spring to replant!
That is perhaps the reason I avoid planting bulbs, however last year everyone had such beautiful (?) know I purchased mega bulbs of some sort because I saw their beauty in everyones garden, you know can't for the life of me remember what they were..do know where they are, at least today I do..shucks..old age sucks..
I was in Ontario years ago when I worked for UPS. It's a beautiful city. I had some free time so I was driving around, stopping in little stores here and there and one of the storekeepers invited me to have tea with her. Lovely hospitality!
LOL, are we both supposed to be working? I guess I'd better get back to it then!
You can work Terri, I have no work to do, infact, Paul took the 2 men in the office and my son Jeff is meeting them at the gold course...so there goes any work for me, so having lunch at 1:00 and then painting more faces for the santa workshop...lol...when he left said 'so tomorrow Paul, are you taking the women shopping?' he gave lame excuse as to why the guys were going...lol
All right - I'm back for a quick visit, then out to the garden! I finished my work for the day- I work from 9 to 1pm but today I started earlier and still ended up over 4 hours so no one can complain if I take breaks. It should really be a full time job but they made me part time when I asked to telecommute so I try not to do more than my 20 hours per week, although I can't say no when someone calls for help. However, that 4 hours a day means I get backed up big time with my paperwork and people inevitably call back at the end of their day, not mine so it's usually 30 hours or more per week.
Hi,
Sorry to not have stopped in earlier today.
well, LOL, sometime one has to be careful on a wish. I wished for work and boy or boy do I have it!! This first mailing is one of Three, so far...
But, guess what? Our printing machine is down!! This is just so not good.
i am afraid to aske when she will run again, just puts me behind somemore, but i guess, it also gives me a chance to finish one mailing, LOL it's not like i can't do something else whil the wait is on...Tons, and tons of Envs to print.
Worked until 6 last night and will work till I can't stand it tonight.
This weekend We are going to the Cottage, and I do need a place to think and pray.
Betty, I didn't mention how Pretty your new saw was. I get real excited about tools too. Mine though are Garden tools. pretty soon i will be able to use the blower i bought in the Spring for only $20.00, with my very own money too! Now here is the justification, I need it, I want, i paid for it! No need to have a reason for something you need right, and you need your Saw, which by the way is a real beauty.
Hello to everyone, I hoe that your days are filled with sunshine and love, and Peace.
Will talk again during a break, see you then!
Good Afternoon everyone. Bettypauze, Clear Lake is right up the road from us. Yep, your right, one hour trip. Used to go to a place up there years ago where people had permanent trailer homes and you could ride a golf cart all over the place. Not the usual cabin kind of place but real fun.
Loved my visits to Clear lake, always went through Wiscounsin from norther Ontario..made sure is was a visit when Little Falls craft show was on, never saw such a site...
I remember the first year we took friends with us, it seemed we drove on a remote road for 5 or 6 hrs. bend after bend...found a motel booked in and went for supper...I have to be the worse person in the world to keep tabs on my wallet so decided I didn't need it so left it in the room in a drawer...
next morning up and at it we were, travelled 3 hrs then stopped for breakfast..went to get my wallet because the little cafe had crafty items for sale..NO wallet, let me tell you I had the fright of my life, because all the craft money I was bringing to shop in Little Falls was in that wallet as well as my credit cards..luckily hubby had kept the receipt when he paid for the room, called in and first thing she said was, most of the rooms have been been rented but i'll check..check she did and found it, so we drove back then back to our desination..about 6 hrs for nothing...now why I didn't think of giving her our destination address and have her do a 24hr. shipping of my wallet I don't know...so that's what I remember of Wiscounsin..that and I believe a town that has a water tower that looked like a saucer and tea cup/tea pot??/ have to go through my photo's...but in St.Paul/Minnneapolis I did enjoy the large shoppping mall AND got to visit the aquarium I believe it was....so did get to see some of your and Vicki's states...
What a scare, Betty! Glad it turned out okay. I want to thank all of you that gave me such a warm welcome. Sometimes, like us all, I only have a few minutes and other times I have the opportunity to read the thread. Betty, I am all thumbs with crafting stuff. But I do tend a mean garden and put up alot of stuff. Maybe I can learn by being here. Don't know if I would have the time tho, with a 22 month old taking up much of my time.
Took Amiyah to an Apple Orchard yesterday.
What a 'cutie pie' she is...adorable..best time of your life is the time you are now spending with her....guess we are all feeling fall, all talking about 'apple orchard' visiting time...time to make pies..so what types of things Sandra do you put down...when I hear of everyone doing canning/pickling etc. my grandma and my dH come to mind...do and don't miss those times...sooo very much work!
Doesn't matter Sandra wether you visit all day or simply drop in, always a pleasure to have your company..
Judy, forgot to say, 'never rains but it pours' right..no work then work to the extreme...I did have a few projects to do today but can't move..muscle spasms I guess...get that way when I'm kind of stressed..it will be home, feed the furries, hot bath and to bed for me tonight...maybe a muscle relaxant will help...
Oooops did forget to tell you all something special .. you know from many of my posts that Kyle has aspergen sydrom..part of autism I belive...my DIL Melanie has been working with the government to provide services in and out of the school system....although Kyle is brilliant and only in the odd instances do I detect the signs Melanie has fought for tutors/ special programs twice a week for outings, lap top computer....summer camp, special needs services all with the Ontario government...she had been nominated for a special awared to do with the most a parent has been able to accomplish in the system for their child and the children of others...big supper in her name and awards...told Greg he'd better take photo's...let's hope..if not I'll post photo's of her awards...
She's worked hard at it and it's shown in Kyle...
Just getting ready to leave work, just spoke with Jeff with regards to Thanksgiving, 2 weeks away this coming weekend, trying to find which day most suits the entire family...just thought I'd like to do something different this year..care to help me out..what special tradition do you do...
Sandra..what a lovely fall photo of Amiyah..
Do you all remember me showing you a photo of the free mirror I got and put in the garden..
well here is "Lucy in the looking glass"..she is my neighbour's grandaughter.
I love how this turned out.
Ouch Betty..muscle spasms...not nice..hope you are feeling better.
My friend Sheila and I went swimming today..feels good..we are trying to do some exercise in the water..
She goes everyday..but I will only go 2 or 3 times a week.
Thanks Starzz. Love your Mirror! I must try to find one.
Have a good evening at work tonight Betty. I do alot of canning but this year I did only tomatoes. I think I have inherited my mother's many varieties of arthritis. But I freeze beans, zuchinni, summer squash, peppers, oh and I did try my hand in canning peppers but I haven't tried them out yet. I grow pumkins for Amiyah, of course! Just about anything we eat, I plant, especially with the prices skyrocketing out of control then I freeze it. I also share alot with about five families in my neighborhood. Congratulation to Melanie.
Amiyah a couple of weeks ago
Got home wanting to go straight to bed, Kathy had just cut all my grass so couldn't very well say thank you 'goodbye' so walked the garden, yard always looks so nice with freshly cut grass, then Darlene called, asked if I could call her back later so I could visit with Kathy, just as she was leaving Diane pulled in for a visit, Darlene called back lol and said we'd talk tomorrow..so Diane just left and I've had no supper but will pass for tonight..need a bed much more than I need food...
OMG, that's one of the nicest photo's Carol, you must enter it into a photo competition, truly, will you have one printed to give to her...maybe this winter with only travelling to Barrie I'll join the "Y" and get some swimming done..great excersize...
Sandra you must have a fairly large garden to be able to do down all that you do??? Amiya is just so pretty...looks as though she's taken an interest in gardening as well...mother's little helper...
Well everyone, thanks for keeping me company today, shoulders won't hold my head up so to bed I go..short stop to the medicine cabinet for pain killers first..
night/night
Night Betty! She loves Cherry Tomatoes! So cute.
Sandra--
Your daughter is adorable! Like on a greeting card......
The plant she is standing next to is the "native" form of Datura--also called "Jimson Weed"....These come back every year on their own.
There are more fancy-schmancy forms of Datura that you have to grow from seed. I have 2 of them---a double purple/white and a double yellow. Really beautiful plants!
Please know that ALL parts of the Datura are toxic if ingested---especially the seeds!
So are Brugmansias and Morning Glories and all such. They are all members of the "Nightshade" family of plants.....
Make sure Amyah does not touch them and does not put her fingers in her mouth if she has touched them.
Gita
Thanks Gitagal. Dully noted. That is why I stear her away from anything unedible. She is oblivious to anything or rather doesn't care about a plant unless it is growing something, like her pumpkins. Fear not, I never take my eyes off of her. But, I thank you for caring enough for the warning. I also live on a lake, have a pond in my yard, have a Husky/Malamute, a Heinz 57 dog and so many dangers that I, like the Eagles on this lake, keep a very sharp eye.
Check out the Brugs thread. Especially the #20 thread. My fav her at DG
Sandra--
I checked out the #20 Brug Tread--but at 135 Posts--I just scrolled down and looked at any of the pictures.
I am sure you feel just as "lost" here---as I would "there". Don't know any of the names.....
I have 3 Brugs and they are getting way too big for me to bring inside again. Am, maybe, going to take cuttings and see if i can give away the main Mama plants.....
Have been growing them for maybe 5-6 years now. Bahh-Humbug! The excitement is just gone! Too much work!
They ARE beautiful and I love the fragrance--but I have nowhere to dormant them over. My basement is too cramped!
Lost my fave. one 3 years ago---Dr. Seuss.....The cuttings never took.....Miss the fragrance greeting me when I parked my car,,,,
Gita
NO. You come back, PLease. I will go back. I will interest you in this for sure. Please follow me.
Gita, hope you've followed Sandra to the brug forum, sounds very interesting...when Carol and I went to the nursery on my visit to her home they had mega brugs outside, so beautiful but quite the size, can understand it would be difficult over wintering them..one would have to have a tremendous amount of space or a greenhouse..most of us have neither...
Took a pain killer last night but dreamt all night, not good dreams but guess it's the way the mind works...
Short day for me today, driving in on my own so will leave extra early maybe make a quick drop into Canadian Tire...break up my journey...am hoping to finish grouting the kitchen this afternoon...won't say I'll laze around this weekend because it just doesn't happen...
I'm going to try out my new saw this weekend making some armitures for the santa's I'll be shipping out shortly but Sailor and Missy have decided that playing with the box is more entertaining...lol
hello.
well, sick again...goodness me im tired of this nonsense but its life eh?
got a throat infection and temp... everyone has it so its going around. feel disgusting but hope to feel better tomorrow. love visiting you all and reading your posts....
you all mean the world to me..
xxxx
Laura, starting to feel much like you, tired of being sick...ooops almost typed 'tired' and I know I'd get a lecture that I should rest on weekends so won't go there...lol...
Guess because I didn't sleep well I was up and at it and just glanced at clock, was in the city by 7:30 yuk..first clue I was early was it was still dark outside...sooo went to my trusted Home Depot and purchased sponge and trowel for grouting..do know that Greg has them but rather my own so don't have to go chasing after them nor bring them back..which reminds me, he's got mega of my tools...must give him a call...I have a 'return to owner' policy!
They had a tile cutter for $59.99 which I think is a good deal and probably would come in handy for other projects so, will drop in to Bernie's on my way home this aft. and if he has the tile he thinks he does for my tub surround then I'll go pick one up..watch if the Midland store doesn't have one...
Everyone is busy here, rushing around like crazy..me I've santa faces all over although I have been busy for the last hour...
I'd love to have santa faces all over, how cute!
Sandra, I have a question. My mom has to go up to Minneapolis for drs appts in the beginning of October then again the beginning of November and is extremely worried and stressed about the weather. Is the weather bad this early in the year? I keep telling her it won't be but having almost the same experience with weather she has had my input doesn't tell her much, in short form I really don't know what I'm talking about lol.
So cute, mothers hate the thoughts that the children know best....can understand it...
Yep I'm a Christmas fanatic thus all the santa's! See that yours is sitting here smilling at me saying "I'm going to be Crissy's favorite decoration"...lol...
Another 1/2 hr. and off I go...
Good Morning!
Betty, Are you feeling Better today? I hope you are able to purchase the tile saw.
Maybe this weekend will be good time to relax. Enjoy your gardens and all who visit.
I will look forward to seeing your tile work when I return, sometime Sunday night.
LOL, I love that "return to owner" policy. Once told Jacob I was going to charge him rental fees if he didn't replace my garden tools where they belong. Aww, pets are like kids huh, love playing in boxes and not with toys, Such a cute picture.
Yep sure is great to be pouring! LOL, had a supervisor ask if i could enter and order I said sure, Well mgr, told her not to give me anything because of mailings...Well oh rebellious one, me said are you kidding, it'll be a nice break, So supervisor say's well I don't want to overload you. OH my gosh, hands on the hips here, ROFLOL, before I knew it these words flew outta my mouth... "Bring it on, I'm tired of sitting here picking my nose" Holy moly...eyes wide I said, I mean Ill be glad to help! She busted out laughing and said ok...LOL, still waiting on the order.
Now, We are waiting on the guy to fix printer! Standstill, again...finishing this mailing in record time, I actually think I beat my own record, 1500 ens stuffed with some 9,000 peices of paper in less then two days time!! LOL, told liz, Iam a stuffing fool.
but geesh am I a happy fool.
Anyway good to see you all. Bev, What a Beauty!! I didn't know you can grow Cannas from seed either!! Very pretty color.
Liz, As always god to "yap" witchya!! So much fun to hear you laugh...will have phone this weekend.
Sandra, Amiyah, is such a sweetie! Oh gosh can you share the picture of her on Sheltland pony..Just precious!! Hope your framing that one.
Carol, Absolutely a wonderful picture! Yep, a framer for sure. One for her and one for…I have enjoyed at the reflection and it is obvious at the wonder and amazement of the gardens beyond…Really Nice.
Vicky, Wow…It’s going to be a grand weekend, to work in the gardens. I’ll be at the house, mostly to rest, but I know I will be working to, you know in between, play time.
Usually, while everyone out on the boat I will kick back and tend hear and there. The hill will be my focus this time. So, I hope you have a goodtime, even though it’s work, seeing the accomplishments make it fun…and nothing better than working leisurly.
OMG…Forgot to Tell Ruby and GG, Would be wonderful if you two were able to meet. I sure look forward to hearing if you could set up a time to do that.
GG, how are Sailor and Murphy getting along. We going to see pictures soon?
Was sorry to see DD can’t go to Italy, but I hope she enjoys her trip that is planned for school…
Waving Hello to Ruby, I hope you are mending nicely. Enjoying your gardens and Emily too.
Oh my gosh, Laura…Change of Season colds are the worst, I hope you feel better soon.
Know you are working full time and that can surely take up rest time. So early to bed and get lots of rest, tea and honey…It’s going around here too, LOL.I step back when people are coughing and sneezing, can’t afford to get sick now that I actually have work.
Betty, How’s the Baby? Wonderful news, and Well deserved for Melanie. Congratulations!!
Shar, Waving Hello! Can’t remember if I told you how cool the Vest, you did at round up is.
Deborah, Hi…Still keeping you DH and you in my thoughts and prayers. How is he doing?
Gita, Most excellent advise! Hope you enjoyed all the Brugs in the other forum.
Geesh, feel like I am missing someone…
I’ve written a novel once again. Fingers flying over keyboard, so please excuse any typos…
May you all have Healthy, Happy and peaceful weekends, I shall miss you but as always you always in my thoughts and Prayers.
See you next week!!
Chrissy, I have lived here for 41 years and I can't remember a Fall such as we are experiencing this year. For example, the high today is expected to be 83 degrees. Usually what happens in September is we will get a frost sometime in the month of September. But then, we get "Indian Summer" that means the weather is "mild" through October. LOL, alot of the nation has this misconception of Minnesota. It is not as bad as everyone thinks. But believe me when I say that it can be 90 one day at 32 the next. Minnesota should be known for its extremes not for its cold weather. But, it is true, some winters usually in January and February we have hit 50 below and that is not wind chill. So, assure your mom that it can be cold but on the other hand she may very well be surprised. Just make sure she packs for either cool and rainy or dry and sunny. She doesn't need a Parka, LOL, but she should be prepared with at least a coat. Hope that helps!
Amiyah and me and Isis and Maximus were pretty busy out back this morning.
I LOVE cute, little girls with these garden hats on! Immediately--it becomes a Hallmark moment.....
SO adorable!
