Do hope you find a comfy chair..coffee's always on, can't promise baked goodies but a warm welcome is always here...
Sunshine finally...wind is up, trees swaying in the wind, people passing by with light jackets on, truly a fall day...best of the day...no rain!

Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #60 visit with friends...
Checking in, making sure all are ok..lordy have an uneasy feeling that there is doom and gloom looming, so checking on all my friends..
UGGG put on spaghetti sauce for Greg/Mel and the boys as they have no kitchen until mid week when the cupboards get installed, got home, no one here, called over, Kyle said Mel wasn't feeling good, forgot about my cooking supper, brought home a meal soooo want to come for supper, could feed about 12 of you...now what...was already frozen, can't re-freeze at least I don't thing so..going for bath and will relax..Mondays are always early to bed...
Ohhh,
I could go for some spaghetti right now..
Guess you will just have to have them for Dinner tomorrow night.
Today I made a big pot of beef and veg soup with the left over roast beef from Friday.
Need to portion it out in containers and freeze it now.
Sure hope your doom and gloom feeling passes by..
Enjoy a quiet evening...
Jeannine..so nice to hear about your new puppy Sailor. When Betty was here I showed her the Oyster Shell Angel you sent me last Christmas..it is hanging at the top of a small Christmas tree I made. ..in the Christmas room.
Cheers,
Carol
We should be trading off meals Carol, meal 'swap' lol..you have a large chest freezer though don't you..with just having the refrigerator freezer you can't store much...
Having noodles with my sauce, know variety stores charge more but you know the little packages of spaghetti, what $1.19 maybe up to $1.89 but I doubt it, well they wanted $3.98..I'll pass..so cooking noodles..I'm not cheap but some things over there seem like highway robery so won't buy..
OMG it's getting so cold, am taking in all the plants I want to overwinter..not sure where they will all go, you know me and overwintering, not a pretty sight, but I promise will try to be kinder to them this year...so one more trip outside should do it..
Just came downstairs to look for markers for Bernice, better give her a call and say I found some...
Oh Yummy!!
Well just got home, must have been a wicked accident on Milwaukee...Took 1 hour and 15 mins. What normally would take 5-10mins. Yow, Just glad to be home.
Plans got shot, had kind of cruddy day.
Just can't stand rude people! And this lady made my co-worker cry from the stress, so aggrevating I could just...go calm down.
Nice to see you Post Jannine. Poor little puppy, I didn't realize they can catch a cold, I don't know why...But I am glad she is feeling bett, aww and Murphy too.
Gita?? Did you find us? Wanted to tell you, I don't remember what the pretty plant is. Geesh, I know I have seed packet somewhere, in a box lol. I do keep them so eventually will update my blueprint...Betty the Hperlink on #59 takes us to reply.
Hope you all had a better day. and have a really nice evening.
Yep as I just said on the previous thread, some days I could screw up the Lords Prayer...imagine, just eating now, that's late for me..talked to Darlene and then Bernice came over for a visit...
Carol shared 1/2 my melon with her and gave the other one to Diane on Saturday...taking it to nibble on tomorrow...
Reason I'm back is, while Bernice was visiting she mentioned that she's cutting back all of her hosta's before they get slimmy..????do you cut hosta's back..don't ever recall doing that? know some of you will have the answer..Bernice is quite the gardener so don't know why I question her doing it...maybe she feels she'll get stronger plants?
Question for you Carol, there was no marker on that pretty blue alpine plant we purchased, would you have the name..the girls here today wanted to know so they could try and find one...
The Blue flowering plant was called GENTIAN.
No large freezer here..just the one in the fridge..and it is full now..I got all the beef soup portioned out.
I don't cut my hostas back in the fall..I leave mine and clean them up in the spring.
Don't think it really matters much..but you could ask in the Hosta forum. Maybe it might keep the slugs from laying thier eggs..not sure..
Some people just like to have nice clean neat beds in the fall.
Off to bed now..
sweet dreams everyone.
Yum, Yum, Yum! I almost made spaghetti this evening, but Dave had already started the gumbo, which I really don't like, so I had a bowl of that. As much junk as I snacked on today I don't need spaghetti on top of it. Maybe tomorrow night.
I think I'm going to turn in early, I'm tired and I want to read a little.
night/night everyone!
Just got up, OMG it's freezing, woke up at usual time but just didn't want to get up..so furnace on and I'm thankful that I took the time to bring in all the overwinter plants...brrrrr
So now I'm rushing...
Thanks Carol for the name, will tag it...think I'll leave my hosta's as well...
Talk later...
Crissy, lucky you having DH cooking for you..one of the things I miss Roger for..he was the 'cook' I was the bottle washer..lol
Hello to All - Sounds like most everyone is doing okay. Same here, same old, same old.
I go back to see the Plastic Surgeon later today to see if my incision is healing. I will be very dissapointed if it is not. I want this third try to be the charm. ha-ha
Jeannine, several years ago my husband was invited to the Richmond Race Way to be allowed to drive on the course. It was a thank you gift from a salesman that he used to buy tools from. There were lots of other men that day who were there to do the same thing also. We watched several of the guys take their turns making a few laps around the course and then it came John's turn to get behind the wheel of the race car.
John's driving sometimes scares me because he tends to follow too closely and has a heavy foot at times too. Anyway, that day he was overly cautious and the highest speed that he hit was only in the 70 mph. I laughed and laughed, but truly was thankful that he was as cautious as he was.
I had forgotten all about doing that. It was a really fun day.
I hope that everyone will have a good day.
Ruby
LOL thought Ruby you were going to say he 'broke' a record..so funny! But, guess those cars cost a mint and he respected the fact that he was allowed to drive one...probably the thrill of a lifetime...
Good luck at the Dr's. Ruby...let's hope you get an A+..is it very painful???
Not moving well here today, wouldn't you know with the heavy frost steps were wet, Betty in a hurry to put out garbage at roadside, slipped hit my shoulder dead on the railing post, in mega pain..hurts to even turn my head..I'll survive..just sore..teach me to do things more slowly..
Although cold today is a sunshine day, tomorrow is suppose to be gorgeous..they've added Saturday into the good weather forcast so just maybe I'll get a day of cleaning up the flower beds...
What are you all up to today, something more exciting than working I hope?
Morning all. It's a little nippy here too Betty. I'm hoping we will have at least 2-3 more weeks of decent weather. I have all kinds of brug blooms coming on. It'll be just my luck it'll freeze before they can "make"!! :-)
Hope you all have a super day
Good morning,
Betty, Oh my...so bummed to hear you're hurt. I hope that soreness subsides. got some ibuprorphine, should help a bit.
Carol, your stew sounded wonderful.
LOL, I can't beleive how quickly fall is arriving. Sigh.
Ruby, What a fun memory...ending up a prayer for the Charm! Hope all is healing well.
Since last night was sort of a wash, Went to bed nice and early. Woke up to sunshine and a better attitiude...and a normal intake of caffine, lol.
So off to work a mailing, I hope you all have a good day!
Waving hi Cat, glad you got to stop in, Hope you get the brugs before the frost.
I would love to drive one of the cars, but if I got up there I'd probably chicken out lol!
I'm the carpet cleaner!
Ouch! Hope you're alright Betty
It's chilly down here too, but in the mid 70's during the day. Lovely!
Have a great day everyone!
Poor Suzanne, DD Danielle had miscalculated her time and now each day is getting longer..today they were going to try to induce her again, she got to hospital and 2 women having twins are in labor, 3 other women as well so they sent her home once again, said to come back tomorrow, she's just so upset..but she keeps trying to rush things, babies don't like to be rushed..lol..then Suzannes DS Brian called all upset because no one had called him to say Danielle was going to hospital today..everyones nevers are frayed..Suzanne is a nervous wreck trying to keep things in line...feel bad for her...
Just took a couple pain killers (borrowed from staff members) let's hope I don't zonk out this aft...hot bath tonight should work wonders..
OMG am I glad I took all those plants in last night...
Those are cute Betty!
It's feeling like Fall here today too. Cloudy, a little raini here and there and about 70 degrees. I LOVE IT!! Pretty soon I'll be getting the electric blanket out! YEE HAA!!
Ruby, I would love to go around the race track in one of the open wheel cars. they are so low to the ground and go about 180 on the straight-a-way. They have special cars they use that has 2 seats just for that. I just think that would be so cool!
Well, Miss Sailor went all night last night with no accidents in her crate! 11pm to 6am! Not even a peep out of her during the night. Of course we just have to nip in the bud the peeing in the family room PDQ! I told DH I'm going to put a bell on the door and teach her to ring it when she needs to go out. He rolled his eyes.....
DD came home yesterday from school and told us that we have to go to the info night next week for the school trip to Italy. DH & I were like WHAT? So, next July for 10 days, the students can go and tour Italy. I told her that the cost for this would be way beyond our means and although we'd love for her to go (heck, I'll chaperone!), that I don't think we can do it. Don't know the cost yet so I might just go so she can see that we would love to send her. The class is also doing another trip in June to the Grand Canyon. Now this I would love for her to go on so we'll see what the cost of that is.
Well, back to work. I'll chat later.
Ciao!
J
Shucks Crissy, wrong thread, suppose to be on the Victorian Santa Workshop thread...sorry!
Jeannine, make a deal with her, just a token gift at Christmas and funds will be put towards her trip, maybe even include her birthday .. if she wants it bad enough she'll say ok..but you'd have to be strong, and keep to it...what a gift in a box saying "enjoy Italy" or perhaps not even tell her you are doing it...
Think those school trips although costly are once in a lifetime and not as expensive as one would think..surely it's worth a visit to the school...
you'd wonder why they would promote such thinks knowing that many families just can't afford it??? Grand Canyon sounds wonderful..when my Jeff was in Phoenix for 6 months working I always wanted to fly in, rent a car and visit the site but didn't..my goodness Sailor girl is easy to train, must be a girl thing right?
Drats, quiet all morning and now we're busy/busy so guess it's a work late night, wouldn't you know - pain city and working late..lol...that's life..
ugh migraine
just popping in.. sayingh i and sending hugs
will post later today when i feel better .. have to go to work!!!
Man, just ate a couple of chicken enchiladas and I want more! More More More!!! More gets me fat! ggrrrrrrr
I'm going to go have more!
Crissy will have to make you a sign like I'm making for my DIL....Lord help me....the devil wants me fat!
Laura, OMG you've been through the ropes, one thing after another...migraines .. yuk...
Linda Kay, how are you doing, pain lessening? Hope that DH of yours is spoiling you..
Gita, imagine you are out in the gardens getting them ready for fall..hope to do so this weekend as well...
Bev, Marion relieved Gustave and Ike are behind you...Judy you didn't say how Steve like the game on Monday night? His team didn't win did they...
Early night last night, pain city, didn't sleep well as the minute I was on the right side shoulder and neck pain would wake me, so moving lower this morning, furnace is running, cool morning but they are promising sunshine for today..we'll take more of that...
Better get at it, poured 4 santa faces last night, they are out of the mold now I'm pouring 4 more...must stop for more supplies tonight as I've just used the last of the materials....
Enjoy the day!
Plan to start tackling many Fall garden chores this week. Worked 4 days last week and it was mercilessly hot--in the 90's!! This week will be real Fall weather--days in the 70's ans nights getting cooler now--in the 50's.
Time to dig u---clean up--and start redying my plants for bringing them in. This includes treating all those pots with Systemic Granules to kill whatever has crawled inside the pots.
Also--gonna dig up my huge Kopper King Hibiscus and move it to a different bed. I sure hope I don't kill it in the process....they have a tremendous root system!!
Up early today--have to be at work at 7AM....
Gita
I'm up early this am. Usually can't sleep but I did sleep like a baby last night. Our weather has been pleasantly warm with cool late afternoons. I hope to get out today to plant Hostas and Echinaceas. Someone paleeasse kick me off any coop you see me sign up for!
its 5:45am here in arkansas, wedensday the 17(i think) chilly outside but not uncomfortable. gonna b a beautiful day. i have more yard work to do and may can a few mor pears. dw and i pealed and canned 16 puarts yesterday.; they will taste good this winter. have a gr8 day everyone
Here at work, Suzanne drove so I was able to take some strong meds..will chill out this morning..on the phone as we speak, Mom's birthday today, she's just a gabbing, lady where she took procelain dolls for 9 years was moving, left with all their body parts..and can't reach her...she's not happy, so I'm just listening..lol
Shouldn't have listened, she bringing me 2 sets of piano dolls ????? wants me to paint them ???? yuk..said yes, after all it is her birthday..bought her a lovely bugbane shrub when I was visiting Carol last Friday, bought me 1 as well but now I want them both and am keeping them so must be nice...she has a quilt top - cross stitched she needs quilted and I covered my mouth when she was saying she wanted someone to quilt it...hmmm maybe I got out of that one!
Werewolf1, welcome, how nice of you to drop by, 16 quarts of pears..you are right, won't they be yummy on a cold winter day..miss those days when I and Roger would work from morning till night canning, did I really say 'missed those days'??? Lordy what a mess we'd have to clean... Do you have a big yard? gardens as well as flower gardens??? Must tell...guess everyone is trying to get at gardens before the frost...
Stopped at DB Bernie's on my way home last night, they have 6 rows I'd say about 24' long of tomatoe plants..wow they are about 5' high and ladden with tomatoe's..picked myself a basket of some just turning pink, my favorite for sandwiches...worried frost will get them..must tell her tonight that as a youngster I used to help grandma wrap each tomato in newspaper and put in boxes..then at Christmas we'd have some from the summer garden...Bernie said he didn't like green relish so might be the thing to do..of course by the weekend they'll be minus another basket..
Suzanne and I were talking about Halloween this morning, guess the 4 boys will shortly be calling me to have costumes made..better not wait till last minute...
Checked my calendar and wow busy/busy till Christmas..must get my act into gear..this going to bed early MUST STOP!
So tell me, what are you all busy with?
Hi everyone. Getting ready to dial into a 2 hour teleconferecene. BORING! I may need you guys to keep me awake!
Hope you're all having a super day.
Oh and Deb, there's one for Amaryllis going on right now!! LOL
Morning! You all make me feel lazy even tho I cleaned and organized freezers yesterday. A chore I am glad is done for the year.
The weather is beautiful. Have to work today but hope I can spend the next 2 days outside getting some stuff done. Plus some inside stuff. Talk about overplanning! Very normal for me! That way I am glad anything gets done. LOL
Got to go and have breakfast or before you know it it will be time for lunch!
Good Morning!
LOL, while all you early risers were up way to early, I was snug as a bug in a rug! Snoozing until 7!! And I do go to bed about 9:30-10 LOL, guess i just need lots of sleep. We started the pool room in the basement. Bleach washed the floors. Tossed, tossed and tossed stuff we've been holding in the closets. I guess perfect oppertunity to do what we've been putting off forever. So it was, good...I figure we spend alot of time down there in winter, so might as well scrub it up. One closet will be kept asuch and the rest will come down to widen the space. Lots of up and down the stairs had me exhausted.
Betty, Steve loved the game Monday...Our home team Won!! 5 zip and it was a historic game a No hitter. We hadn't had a no hit game since '72. Well, aren't I braggie about a game I don't really watch. But it is the Cubs and really am wishing hard for them To Win. If they go to playoffs then I will watch all the games and cheer them on. For now tho, I will "lurk", with my ears, LOL.
Well, Had a great opportunity to go to Joanns and Vogue. Vogue is awsom but my are they pricey. But I did get a real nice piece of Green rayon. They have an entire room of remenents!! I could have gone out of control bonkers, but seeing that my parking meter was for ony 1/2hr. I was a very good girl. Then i bounced on over to Joanns. LOL I was trying to kill time in order for the traffic to die down. However with three major roads still flooded Everyone is traveling our main rd. So was another 45 minutes, inch my way...So nothing better then having tunes, and Txt Liz! And Oh my gosh, well worth it because i got vynal for Santa bag and a gorgeous, Green velvet with sparkels...(sorry keeping that one for myself), sheesh I was wishing they had red too.
So today, Not much business at the moment.
Betty, How are feeling today, I hope the soreness from your fall is gone.
Gita, Sounds like you have a very busy outside work going on.
Hello, Warewolf...Welcome. Look forward to hearing about your gardens..Happy canning, Love pears.
Hi Laura, yuk, sorry about the migrain, whispering I hope you feel better.
hehehe, Deb better hurry up and check that Amaryllis...
Cat, Yuk hope the teleconference isn't too bad.
OK well, I better get on with something today...
Everyone enjoy the gorgeous day!! Wish I could be out there too.
See you on a break.
Good morning! A teleconference would knock me out, my coffee doesn't seem to be working very well this morning.
ggrrrrr sent it before I wanted to.
Now I forgot what I was going to say lol! I hate it when that happens!
I'll come back later when my brain decides to function. ☺

Judy, they have companies now that call with sale information, last night there was a call from Fabricland, much as your Joanne's to say there was a 50% off sale Thurs.Fri. and Saturday if you are a member, which I am, think it's their way to have me renew my membership..lol..but with doing the Victorian Santa Workshops at the house and in Barrie and I provide the entire kit, then it might be worth dropping in..keep thinking rather than wait for the 4 boys to call re Halloween costumes that I should find out NOW so can get materials at a good cost...
Glad Steve's team won..as you know I'm going to Frankenmuth on Oct.17/18 and rooms are at a premium only to find out our Barrie Colts Hockey team will be there, if I had more time I'd purchase tickets...but that might take time from my 'shopping'...
Good girl, just sitting here, meds were making me sick to tummy so went downstairs to get an order of toast that should stop the feeling...
So to entertain myself, went on internet and found all my craft show haunts and marked them on my calendar...a must for me the crafter to attend...lol
LOL, Ves...I do that sometimes too...make lots of plans for this and that to get done and yep if just one gets done I am a camper. Unless i am bored to pieces and feel like working hard, then lots gets done because I will do things simultaniously. Heaven forbid though that i get all involved in a book or a single project because then absolutley nothing gets done till I am finished!
Isn't it just a beautiful day again. Gosh and i am stuck in a building with nothing to do again...been reading all day. and wahhh, time is trickling by.
Betty, now you wouldn't want to cut into your shopping spree. LOL, I have been shopping like nuts lately. But having just a ball doing that. Now I am not even feeling a bit guilty about it either, all the items I have purchased are with my very own lunch money savings!! You hae fun with the crafting haunts...I hear you on the Halloween costumes, We have that big party we go to, and this year the theme is tv shows and or movie characters...Way too many to choose from. LOL, I have no idea what i want to be so i know the kids don't either. But, Yes very exciting with all the wonderful fabrics on sale at the moment...would it be fun just to some money to just spend on that, man I could go bonkers with all the possibilties.
OMG, Breenie, signed up for Art club!! Yesterday was the first session. and Jake, signed up for Family matters again so today is first for that. he was talking about signing up for all kinds of activities...These are at the school so he catches the bus home. I love it this way I know what he is doing, lol.
Spent some time searching the web for victorian santas, looking for some nifty ideas. And because i have till 6 to wate for Jake i am going to check out this newish Deals place, $5 & under...maybe I can find some neat decorations...
Geesh can you tell I'm bored, just blabbin away here...ROFLOL, what a nut! but better to keep my fingers dancing on key board then filling my face with junk...Haven't stopped eating since I got in today! OK going to get some coffee and see if hopefully anyone needs a hand.
be back in a bit.
Going crazy here as well, was leaning (should say almost sleeping) on the window sill looking out watching people go buy, interesting..15 minutes left and it's home we go..think I took one too many painkillers, bit woosie...
Don't you find Judy when you are bored you get the urge to shop..under $5.00 store sounds interesting..
If I remember last year you were the one to host the Halloween party were you not? nice that the party has a theme...Jeff's boys come up with some doozers for me to make, remember last year I made the ape costume, then 2 clown costumes and a coca cola machine costume...sure hope they want to trade...lol...doubt it, perhaps this year they will say they are too old for halloween..that would create mix feelings, one of happiness, no spending weeks making costumes, but would also make me sad, kids getting older..a tradition we've had since they were born...will be interesting...
Got a gift today, client is selling the pop can toppers, I already had one but he brought everyone a 'treat' for being nice...have to watch Paul, he's trying to steal mine as I already have one..this gentleman is now the Canadian Distributor for them, I ordered a doz. as did Suzanne..don't know about you all but then everyone comes to the house they all grab a can, the minute they put it down they no longer drink it incase it belongs to someone else so with these new toppers, problem solved, they'll all get a color and will know which is theirs...
At one time one could be confident that kids are safe at school, getting terrible, think yesterday afternoon in a 2 hour span, 3 youngster at different school were murdered, then another critical...no peace of mind anymore..it's great that your children are involved in so much..
be thankful you know where they are!
Those are neat. I had one too but i have no idea what happened to it.
Think Jacob overed on it, I thought it was kind of hard get off.
...Ok so, was just asked by manager to throw two sets of catalogs in the mail, lol she even went over and got them for me, which weird but ok. Then she said what to mark the box with and said to make it cute! OK So in all my goofiness I put company name with a drawing of a cat's...open immediatley. Geeze I hope thats what she meant by cute!
woohoo time to go, see you all later.
I'm free...
hi yall, its all good just that time of the month is all
going back to work full time next week. blah, but we need the money
have been keeping up on all your posts tho, you guys know i lurk.. lol
have a good day
hugz all
Sure do Laura, we're always sending 'love and soft hugs'...the other night Judy when she called said when she's feeling off she sits in her Adirondak chair I painted her and delivered as a 'thank you' gift for staying in Chicago..she said it made her feel comfy and loved..know that you sit with your coat on, all cuddled up while reading the posts and feel same...
Soon you will have regained all your health and will be your chatty self..remember, we're looking forward to seeing photo's of your garden and plants..different than what we are used to..must ask, in all the plants Laura that we post, are there any you also grow in Australia???
Hi Everyone,
It's been so nice reading about all your comings and goings. Betty and Carol - it's so cool you were able to meet up. I loved hearing about it. I totally agree, Carol's gardens are stunning. There are so many little surprises all around.
I've been spending a lot of my time online on a babywearing website drooling over baby carriers - my other addiction. Luckily, Ella still likes to be worn. I wish I had known more about babywearing when my oldest two were younger.
I've also just rearranged our living room in our house. It works so much better now. It's amazing how just switching things around can make such a difference. Things have been going well with Sonora's homeschooling. She actually goes to the school part-time for gym, French and Cree and she comes home for the rest. We live less than a 5 minute walk from the school so it's no problem for her to get there and back when she needs to. She seems a lot happier this year. Today we picked a whole bunch of berries off our mountain ash tree and we'll be making jelly with them. They're toxic if eated raw but when they're cooked they become safe to eat.
Well, gotta go. Take care.
Hi all...
I had a lot of catching up to do but wanted to read to make sure all of you were safe. Ike hit us pretty hard on Sunday morning, winds at about 85 mph, trees down, everything flying off my deck, and no electricity. It was very scary, well actually, I was terrified when my glider went flying off the deck, and branches were everywhere.
A tree is down in my neighbor's yard, but only branches and debris in mine. Our electricity just came back on too...so 84 hours of no electricity is also not fun. And we had no rain, but it was classified as a hurricane 1.
So this is the bad that happened, I had purchased a ton of food for the visiting family, and I had frozen tons of veggies....everything was in the freezer or fridge. The family left on Monday because I had no electricity, and it was pretty bad here, so they headed for her son's in Dallas.
Today I threw out everything in fridge and everything in the freezer, it was all ruined, all mush.
I really hated to lose those veggies.
But my house is not damaged, and I was lucky, because some even here are still without electricity and some lost their homes to trees as well.
I am glad you all are safe and sound.
Take care.
Oh my gosh Sharron - It should be us telling you that we are happy that you are safe and sound. I would have been losing my mind to go that long with no power. I do not do well without it. I am thinking of investing in a small generator before winter comes here this fall.
So sorry about losing that much food too. Just makes you sick, huh? But.....you are safe and well and that is the most important thing.
Good to read about the goings on in everyone's lives. Lots of busy people on here. Sorry that Betty and Laura are ailing. Betty, surprisingly, my pain level has been really low this time. Thankfully. I saw doctor on Tuesday and he said that things looked exxcellent. I am really relieved.
i brought in the majority of my houseplants on Tuesday. There are still most of the larger ones still on porch. I don't want to take any chances of things freezing or getting cold damaged. So, the spare bedroom is no longer spare. Can't do much in that room now, certainly not sleep.
Anyway, glad to see everyone. Have a good day all.
Ruby
