Oh Becky!!!! I am sooooo glad you guys are ok!!! We were worried!!!! I keep seeing the most horrible things on tv! Hugs girlie!!
She's About To..........#17
My sweet Beckie, happy to hear from you girl! No mayor damage is great, but I hate what you guys went thought, My prayers are with all of you though.
Stay safe, Love you, Clem
ty very much AuntB and CAT for the d-mail instruction. its very simular to e-mail. duhhhhhhhhh go figure. the weather here has settled down and am trying to get cleaned up. BTW, i took a few of ya'lls advice and put all my seeds in a container with a top on it and set them in the fridge. i'll tell u next spring whether it works or not. lol. when should i plant them? in the house? i don't have very much experence in planting brug seeds. how many weeks does it take for them to come up?
Wolfie I planted mine in my sunroom on a windowsill in March and they came up fast, within two weeks they were all up even with the chill in the room. On heat I bet they would be up fast! My sunroom was around 60ish in the day and as low as 50 at night.
thanks lavender, did mu put the seed shallow, or deep? covered or uncovered. as u can tell i am a newbie at raseing AT'S from seed.
You lucky Louise with those seeds, I can't seem to get them to sprout, Hi wolfie!
Louise.. are you saying the brug seeds came up that fast? I might have to try some then... yeah.. how deep did you plant the seed
Here's another pic.. wanna swim anyone???YUCKwhat a mess
Been wondering... sure hope Sandi is ok.. My bro lives in La Porte.. just across the bridge from Baytown, and they were in the eye.. didn't even lose a shingle.. power yes.. I was thinking Sandi would have had the same predicament.. sure hope so
Ahhhhhhh Beckie you will get it clean, so glad you are ok, that is the main thing, not material ones!
oh Becky hugs. I guess Sandy's yard was toast she is most upset. Karen has her number if you want to call her.
Here is what I did with the brug seeds. I just went for it with no experience..lol.
Soaked the seeds overnight to loosen corky husk. Next day I peeled the husks off to release the tiny bean. I then planted them right away half in soaked peat pellets and half in mg potting soil. I just pushed them under not very deep and kept them moist until they sprouted. The only problem I had at all was two of them broke their heads off when they germinated..it was very sad! I hear that happens more often with their corky coverings still on. Maybe if my conditions had been warmer that would not have happened. Just do not know. It was my first time growing them. I transplanted into three inch pots when I saw the roots coming out the bottom of the pellets.
goodnight my great newbie friends. i hear my bed callin. lol hagn ev1, prolly talk tomarrow night.
Wow! Hotties! I have missed much today. I spent a large portion of the day composing a letter to the judge for the 23rd for Amiyah. My oh My, Werewolf is a hottie. I didn't get to read the thread just streamed through it. Cold, cold and drizzle was my part of receivement of Ike. But, that was Ok cause I drafted over and over the letter that I needed to provide so the judge realizes next Tuesday that we MUST get custody of my precious baby girl. I was advise to get it in 10 days before the hearing so Monday will be the day I file it. Hope you all had a great day.
Sandy
Good luck Sandy tomorrow!
Good luck Sandy, all will be fine! Donna please let us know how everything goes with the new baby, Aiden is it? Always loved that name. Becky I'm so glad you and Lyle made it through safely....Cleanup will be a chore....I hate that part of gardening!
Wolfie you have inspired me to maybe try some Brug seeds this year. I don't know why but I have always been an "instant gratification" person that prefered just planting the plant...Truth is, I've never had much luck with seeds.
Thanks, daddy. LOL. We still have a week but it is coming down to the wire. I hope to be able to say on Tuesday afternoon that we have custody. I don't know. You sure have sweet girls unlike my own 21 year old. So sad. But you do what you have to do. She hates me and well, I am not liking her too much right now. Thanks again Clemmy!
Thank you, Donna! Apprehension is running rampant, but I have confidence that because we have had her since she was born and the first question on Third Party Custody papers is; where has this baby resided for the last 24 months......well I HOPE.
OMG! Who is that gorgeous girl peeping into that petal, Donna?
No WAY you won't get custody Sandy...and I pray that one day your daughter realizes the mistakes she is making in life, you raise them up and then it's up them to make what they do of life. The sad part is youngsters that have children and then have no idea what to do with them. Thank God you are there for Amiyah. Keeping you in my prayers, Love you ♥
Love you Karen! But with Ike and visitations and her having that MRSA and then Hoof and mouth disease. (my way of refusing this should be subjected to a child), my stomach has been not so very good the last few days. Plus, again, she is with the father and other grandmother and each time I just get Sick.
Oh Sandra, I am sure you will prevail! Practice deep breathing and being calm. You cannot afford to affect your health! Your precious baby needs you in a healthy calm state, just remember that sweetie! Big hugs! Nite to all the hotties that are retiring for the evening!
Karen those thread opening cartoons are a hoot!!!
Ty for your concerns girls.. it means so much to me!! Just heard it might take a month before we get power restored.waaaaaa...lol
Clemie.. I am glad that we are ok.. but it's those "material things" that will be driving me crazy trying to clean the mess up!..LOL..
BTW.. still craving those Cheetos..LOL
hers'e a pic of the front door that I posted when it still had the storm door attached..LOL it is now laying on the front porch!! See if you can see what I am doing.. BTW Ike didn't take out those blankety lovebugs!!
Good morning Hotties and Gent,
Just taking a break from work and checking in. I posted last night but cannot find it anywhere. Goodness, I wonder where that went?? DH took me out to dinner last night for Mexican, my favorite. Jalepenos will cure any illness, right?
I hate to hear of all of the damage so far from our other DGers but am so glad that so far everyone is sound of body, though heartbroken. (HUGS)
Now, back to work, and if anybody shows up asking about my post last night landing on another thread, just laugh, okay? Peg
Morning Hotties,
This one may take a while to post, I am not used to have Siobhan here for days without her mom. Sandy I give you soooooooooo much credit for keeping up with Amiyah. That is Soibhan peeking, actually looking into the burg flower; she needs to know what is inside of everything. Her name for all of you that have never seen it spelled is pronounced Sha-von. The spelling she uses is Gaelic (old Irish), sometimes I could shoot her mom for using that spelling because no one can read it, but mostly I think it is nice because her paternal DGM is from Ireland and I love the name.
Becky, your home away from home looks comfy but I am sure you would much rather be sleeping in your own bed. Your yard is going to take some doing to get it back the way it was, right now I’m sure you can’t even foresee it getting there. Just take one day at a time a little here a little there and it will happen. How bad was the damage to your mom’s house, will it need a new roof? No power for a month OMG, things will be scarce there if there is no power in the area, if you need anything please let us know.
Thanks to you all for the well wishes for today. I’m am like a little kid that just can’t wait for the big surprise. It will be a loooooooooooooooog day, I have been up since 4. This morning we will be going down the street to collect beach rocks to paint. Siobhan loves to paint yucky bugs and things for the garden.
Have a great morning all.
well hotties, time to get started cleaning the yard. i'll be back if i have any strength left this afternoon. have a good day ev1.
Becky oh gosh cannot even imagine! As for what you are doing you are waving Did you see the thread where someone had posted on Craigs list trying to give away a free hurricane? Very funny. Donna I am sooo excited for you! Wolfie have fun in the yard! It is chilly here today but supposed to be nice all week.
Good Morning Hotties... BECKY!!! We ARE going to have our phone visit, yet... my dear lady... I was so sad I didn't check back in last night, all tuckered, I guess... and my mama came to visit... you posts sure brought a smile to my face, even tho you are in a mess up there... I'm glad you have the camper to wait it out in.... Now, are you getting mail delivery?? I'm sending Cheetos, if you are, and anything else you and Lyle may want and for certain need... you just let us know, ya hear?? I'm serious dear hottie. Hang in there, like Karen or Louise or Peg said, 1 day at a time... must seem over-whelming...
Wolfie, (I STILL say you ARE a Hottie, I don't think it's gender related, :) I've started seeds in a zip lock bag with a moist paper towel, I soaked the seeds and removed the corky husk, I even nicked the seed with a knife... sprayed a section of paper towel with H202 (1part hydrogen peroxide and 3 parts water) I left enough air inside to create a mini greenhouse affect. Laid them in bright partially direct sun and they sprouted, some are faster than others.. but that way I could see what was going on... once you see them sprouted, plant them up.. I like to start in January when I'm afflicted with cabin fever and it gives them extra grow time to hope for blooms the coming summer.. Everyone finds the way that works for them, I think... I've read its more to do with bright light than heat, but I'm not certain... Don't over-due out there... 3 brugs down out there this morning, but no harm... I hope for a calm peaceful day.
Donna, Donna! She is a princess! How adorable and cute is that!?! Lovely little flowergirl, what fun you must be having while you both wait. TODAY is the DAY! Yay!!!
Dear Sandy, you know I'm burning every torch and candle I have on the 22nd... and special prayers, too. And you are to be commended for doing what's best for that lil flowergirl of yours. OXO
Warm thoughts and prayers for our southerners - Louise-sending you d-mail about the RU - Enjoy the day, sunny and cool here.
Mornin hotties!!
Louise... LOL NO I am waving at my hottis sis's!! and gent! I have missed ya'll! Yeah.. I saw that on craigs.. sure wish someone had bought it ans took it somewhere else!!
Donna.. not that I like hurricanes..lol but I would rather do clean up, than scurry around looking after a baby..lol... hope your back is better! At least with clean up I can take breaks.. with a baby there is no such word...take care!
Lyle went to Jasper yesterday. Walmart is open, but only letting about 10 people in at a time. Gas lines are loooooong! He was gone over 5 hours, and was one pooped puppy! He didn't get my Cheetos either..hehehe Our coast line areas are GONE!! It's sooo sad, but part of life in our area. Just have to pull yourself up and go on! We're going to start tackling the tree at Mommas in a lil..
Peg.. you feeling better? I have lost posts too.. I would rather think Dave eats them than to admit I don't hit send ..LOL
Becky? Are you getting mail service?
Good morning Hotties!! We're off to buy a chainsaw if there is one to be found..........We're going to have to take the whole tree down that was over my shade garden, and try to resurrect my arch. I love that arch, but it is hollow metal that I bought at Michael's cheap, and I could sure use a better made arch. The legs bent on this one during the storm, that's why it fell.
Donna, early congratulations!!!! There is NO telling what my future grandchildren will be named, or how it's spelled. My girls are artists, and VERY ecclectic in choosing names for things. I could kill my daughter's "mother-in-law" (they are not married yet, been together 5 years though) for naming Chelsea's fiance "Uriel". You would think it would sound like it is spelled, but NO....It is pronounced OOOD-EE-EL. MIL is German. You should see my redneck family trying to write out name tags for him at Christmas time, ROTF! Oodl, Udeel, etc. But, that said, I admire your daughter for being original, and such a lovely name too.....There is a website that lists all the Gaelic names and pronunciations...but, she'll never find a keychain with her name on it, haha! I remember when I named my youngest daughter Taylor, I thought it very original. And, there were no keychains....Now there are Taylor things everywhere.
That's it. I must try seeds!!!! And, I found another NOID bud today, about as big as a small pod of okra so I have another beauty to look forward to!
Peg, you lucky duck. I love Mexican food....and am lucky to live in Texas where there is a restaurant every 15 ft, so lots of TexMex to choose from.
Louise, do you like the Maxine's? Ya'll aren't tired of them?
Aunt B, love you honey, Love ALL of you and hope you have the most Beautimous (in the Texas dictionary for sure) day in the world. It is sunny and chilly here!!!!

Lurker waving back♥
Welcome new Hottie Wolfie☺In case you don't know already, Hottie means hot and sweaty on this thread☺☺
Posy Getting any of this wind??
Started here last night abt 10:30
Died down now it's blowing again....
So far it's only taken 2 tops out of 2 trees ..one on our property and one across the road..
DH had to move it when he went to work this morning...
Lu! Hottie means anything we want it too... hot and sweaty, sizzlingly attractive-inside/and/or/out, hot and bothered.. lol Phyllis, hold tight, we had it all day into the eve yesterday... Karen, so sorry about your shade and arbor.. I have a heavy metal arbor from a wine display at the liquor store...sturdy and FREE... just a thought... I've had a couple of the hollow metal tube arbors from Big Lots ($10?) and wind and reckless lawn mower driving has taken them out...didn't put one back there this year... had hyacinth bean vines growing on them.. they lasted about 2 seasons each.. I want to get my passionvines out into more sun next year, wonder what I'll come up with for an arbor?
Ya'll, don't hurt yourselves trying to clean up! I'm glad I don't have to clean up the tree that fell here!
Audrey sorry you are having that problem... I wanted to tell Becky, Sandy-I love jesus Sandy, is dealing with the mess, her and family are safe.. prolly much what you have there...
Aunt B, the tree was a dead one and I'd been expecting it to fall! It didn't do any damage!
Whew! Thought you were dealing with winds from Ike.. glad it didn't hurt anything.
It WAS wind from Ike! It fell in two pieces, one on each side of my br window!
Hello Hotties!!
Seems like Ike is doing damage everywhere! I sure hate to hear it!!
we're staring the clean up at Mommas first. We have the house rentes, and they couldn't even get in the front door..lol we are still under mandatory evac. and they are still telling residents to stay away
Bonnie.. NOOOO we are fine.. don't send anything.. really we are very fortunate to have the camper and generator!! I even have some blooms to cheer me up.. there is always a silver lining.. sometimes we have to look hard to find it..lol but it's there!! Hope you are feeling better!!
Donna.. is today the day?? I am confused... but i am praying for your daughter to have an easy delivery!!
Sany... don't worry.. you have Amiyah all your days!! Praying for your daughter as well! She will mature.. and hopefully all this will be behind you, and you can have a loving relation with her again!
Hey Audrey.. good to see you!! Kinda funny you said you have a dead tree.. I had some dead trees in Rita and now Ike.. they don't take the dead ones down.. just all the live ones..lol ..sorry you had damage though!
LU.. good to see you .. you lurker!!..lol.. you know better than that.. you have to post to let us know you are ok!!
Phyllis.. sorry about your damage too! Glad you got the furnace in..LOL had to laugh about that!! you'll have to tell the girls about the 100 degrees in the house..hehe
Karen.. good luck on getting a chainsaw.. hopefully you'll find one.. but we have several.. if you want to drive that far.. I'll put you to work though!!..LOL
Back out to get to work again..TTYL!! Loves!
We have a boy, oh yes
Aidan came into the world happy, healthy and weighing in at 9lbs at 2:17pm this afternoon. DSIL was holding him when he called a few minutes ago. My DD was still in surgery getting put back together but she is doing well. Siobhan will not be allowed in the room until about 6 so we will wait patiently (yeah right) here for the next hour. We need to stop on our way into the city for some balloons and flowers for Siobhan to give her Mom and Aidan. I will try and post pix late tonight if it is possible.
Becky so glad you are in such good spirits with all you have to do.
Sounds like Ike caused more damage; I hope it is not too awful.
Have a great evening all, I know I will, hee hee giggling very happy Nana here.
