Phyllis and Cat,those Iris are supposed to be Blue,but in most light, they look more purple than a true blue. I bought them at Walmart, 2 bags,3 rhizomes each,4.96 a bag and I knew nothing about Iris. Dgers saved me again because nowhere on the package did it say you have to wait 2 years or more for blooms☻I almost ripped them out after the second year but the Iris threads said no,no, be patient,they will bloom☺☺Last year they started blooming in October☻I lost both buds to frost, but this year,they were right on time,loaded with buds and blooms,and oh so fragrant☺One plant is blooming again right now☺☺
I HATE SLUGS!! They always meet a brutal end when I see them☻

Hellllllooooooooo Hottiesssssssssss. My biggest mistake was not leaving during IKE. I was scared to death. I had no gas and nowhere to go and the depression keeps me pretty much a recluse as far as catching a bus to a shelter. I wish I could change that but it is a chemical thing not a want to thing.
I did ok till about 2:30am and woke to it pitch black. Even the street lights were out. I looked out the window and pushed my nose as far against the glass because I thought I was just having a hard time adjusting sleepy eyes. But no it was darker than dark. A huge chill of fear came over me. I went into the living room and lit candles and could hear my roof creaking. OM Gosh talk about scared. I went back to the bedroom and called a guy I have been talking to and met from Baltimore. I ask him to turn on the TV and tell me what was going on. He said we looked to be in the eye. I told him about things hitting the roof and how the wind sounded so bad just like a train. It was not till telling someone yesterday about the train sound that I realized what I was hearing.
I am glad I did not realize what I said when I said it. When day light came I could not believe my eyes. It was worse than Rita. One pine had the top snapped out and fell between it and the house and that was a miracle as that was my bedroom and it had a tight squeeze where it landed. My back yard you can not get thru for the huge limbs. It collapsed my hoop house 1/2 the roof and bent it. Not fixable. my beautiful fruitless pomegranate about 15 yrs old is leaning far over. My 2 Christmas sennas uprooted. One was during Rita but Dennis drove a 2X4 to hold it up and it lived. But now I can't get to it for all the huge branches.
I am not sure how I will get it all done. I have an electric chainsaw but there is so much. None of my neighbors have offered and they have finished theirs. They all know I am disabled from back surgery but not one offer. They are not gardeners either.
Too much to list but lost alot. the pine limb is of course upside down smashing my big azaleas Oh my it was just looking good since Rita and now worse. I refuse to get one plant from anyone till it is cleaned up and I can plant them immediately. It is hot again but electric back after 6 days. It was miserable and so hot. I had to soak in cold water to cool off.
The house seems sound and so am I physically. Mentally still out to lunch. was always out to breakfast ......not lunch....haha.
It was a tornado as it snapped off a lot of pines.
I do hope to be able to get some wood from some ppl that lost oak trees. It will put a bright (little) side on this to have firewood for for even if for next year when it is dry.
I am 1/2 of thread 17 left to catch up but not tonight I am exhausted. oh one of my plumies broke off and and one of my few brugs. GRRRRR Not crying over spilled milk but very much crying aver all the lost beauties and work I have to try to redo. Maybe not. 2 in 3 yrs wow more than enough for me.
