Werewolfie, beautful pictures and such a handsome gentleman! Welcome again, to our group... I'm not familiar with Heber Springs, in fact past Ft. Smith, I'm lacking in geography for Arkansas. I'll have to google to see where you are. I've got to grab some coffee and head outside myself No damage, but lots of rain here. Talk to you later, Peg
She's About To..........#17
You look fabulous Wolfie surrounded by all of your bloomin babes! We had and are having some severe wind here too. I see some of my brugs are laying down this morning including my budding one. Will have to go out and see if I can assess the damage in a bit. Coffee first!
OMGOSH, I THINK THATS ENUFF TO KEEP U WISHING FOR AWHILE. BUT REMEMBER LADIES, I ONCE OWNED A COMMERCIAL GREEN HOUSE AND HAD OVER 2OO BRUG PLANTS. SOLD AT LEAST THAT MANY AND KEPT 82 DIFFERENT ONES FOR MYSELF AFTER I CLOSED IT. I HAD EVERY COLOR THAT I KNEW OF BUT RED. I HAD ONE OF THOSE TOO, BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY, LMAO
Just went and picked up my bruggies, and they look ok. I cannot believe not one bud got broken off. Looks good although they look unhappy having those big leaves blown around like that. We are being squeezed between Ike and some high pressure front that is causing the winds. We are not supposed to get rain here though. It sure looks like it might rain with all those dark clouds!
Morning everyone, glad to hear everyone made it fine from Ike.
Dang I was on the old post and first thought I won't have much to catch up, how silly of me....
Welcome Wolfie, beautiful pics.
I have put sedums in a concrete planter. It is not very deep. I don't think the sedums will survive, has anyone tried this? I usually cover the planter because it is concrete and I sure don't want to destroy it cause it was my Mothers and is really old.
Donna, end of season roses I bury completely and dig the first of March and plant as normal. Sounds weird but it works great.
We buy all our propane for the winter in August but dang coming up with that much money at one time is not any fun. We lock in our price that way.
Cat, what color plumerias did you end up with?
I had roses blooming in the sun room last year during the winter. Only problem is they didn’t like it when I took them outside. It is soooo windy up here in the spring.
Heavenscape, Dream Angel is beautiful…I am going to have to get that brug.
Werewolf1, those angel trumpets are beautiful. What kind structure is that around that around your brugs? Looks really nice. Love the morning glory bush…need to find that also.
Good morning everyone! Heavenscape I love that Dream Angel!!! Beautiful plant....Wolfie I am sorry about your plants...hold my hand and we will get through the pain together, LOL!!!!
Louise, you take care of yourself, hope it doesn't get bad there. Peggy, are you about to float away? Sun is out here today, birds are singing....
Please everyone, take a moment of silence and hum Taps in honor of my huge twanger NOID that was aborted before it's time.......................da da daaaaaaaaaaa
HAPPYGARDEN, gl in finding those morning glory bush seeds. other than those, i nave not found any more TRUE bush seeds. if i understand about the structure ur speaking of, all it is landscape timbers making a frame around our patio pond, we have different length posts on end around it also, i hope that answers ur question.
Wolfie you have Dmail ☺
Good morning Hotties,
Wow I’m usually here by myself early in the morning, today I am late starting the day and you all had coffee already. I was up early, on the phone with my DD making the final arrangement for the week. She is getting anise and could not sleep, she is down to the last 24 hours now. She went and had the blood work done a 5 this morning.
Wolfie, The pix of the burgs are fantastic, so sorry that storm came through and got some of the remaining ones. I’m sure some of us here on this thread can help replace some with cuttings if needed. I love the poem you posted last night, my dogs are getting on in years and it is a nice thought that they will be waiting for me. I so glad you came in and joined us, I’m sure you will have some great tips for those of us that are newbies to burgs like me.
AuntB, that pix of the rainbow with the burgs is awesome, a calendar photo for sure. Hope the toe is allowing easy movement today.
Clemen such pretty blooms, who are the burgs you posted?
Lousie, great find at the E-sale, I really need to start shopping around. I hate paying retail prices for pots and stuff. Hope you DH is feeling better today and the stone has passed or will pass without much pain. Those stones can put a real cramp in your life for a few days. Storms there too, so happy your buds did not abort.
Joyce, thanks for the tip on the roses I will do it that way next time. I was not a happy person when I had to dig those stumps up last spring.
Karen, Oh so sorry about the damage, glad everyone is well. If we can help you replace things we will. Okay.
For all of those looking for MG bush seed. The gardenstore N more has some type on the web site. The price was not bad and shipping is reasonable. I have a link here somewhere buried on this pc and will fine it if you need it.
Peg, I know you love us all anyway but I will confess I am one that mixes people up all the time, I will not even try and keep the DH’s straight. I’m going to blame my dyslexia; sounds better than the getting old thing but it is more a senor brain freeze than the other. I didn’t know you did catering. Well better rephrase that, I don’t remember knowing you did catering; I’m not surprised because all the food things you post look and sound wonderful.
Becky, we are waiting here patiently for you to have power and post. You are missed and I hope all is going okay.
I know I miss some, so good morning to all. By the time I get this posted I will have to back pedal again.
Good Morning Hotties! Peg, you crack me up. AND that was me mixing up the Hubbies, least I didn't say Keg and Peith.. lol I apologize, I have no defense. lol Louise, glad yours came out unscathed, Wolfie, so sorry, I would have cried too. (((Wolfie))) and (((Karen))), I guess the silver lining is a new sun bed, but I'm sure that isn't much of a consolation right now.. Not sure WHEN it blew through here, waited all day for it.. it was almost 80 degrees yesterday, this morning, 55. The wind! Ol girl Peach Versi had slammed into Pink Beauty, Charles G. and Vixen got entangled in all the mess... it was all I could do to right Versi (she's 2X my height), I cut a strip of old sheet and tied the ol gal to the stair banister.. I watered all the big girls hoping that would add some support. Budless, Bloomless Alex is still down out there, I'm inside sulking. So, I think Mother Nature is trying to tell me something. I was madder than a wet hen waiting at the chopping block, and then I caught up on our thread, I'm very lucky.. All I lost was 1 Charles Grimaldi bloom tip with a itty bitty bud and a few blooms from versi and p.beauty... Not a good night sleeping and then I woke up to Antique Lace (1 of my "pet" brugs)slammed down on the deck,... my hear sank, looked like her canopy was in a heap, but all is well, if it doesn't die down she's going to spend Sunday afternoon in the house... (biggest reason she's my pet, I can snatch her up without help cause of her small size). 2 big begonias are on the diningroom table and I guess, I'll be in the basement getting the "greenhouse" area enlarged.. brought a 2-wheeler cart from work to help move boxes.. Wolfie, I so enjoyed seeing all your pics and I like your set-up, big corded handle tubs... and a real GREENHOUSE! How long did you operate your greenhouse? Retail? Wholesale? I've often dream of doing that.. I know it's a LOT of work, but it would be something I enjoy, and I've never been one to shy away from work.... unless you put the word "house" in front of it.. lol
Donna, the catering started as a side job years (15?) ago for extra money. Now, it's more of enjoyment for me, though I still get paid some. I just have a few customers and do it about once or twice a month now during football season and holidays. Each year I cut back on it.
Ya'll, I have never, ever been to an estate sale.. Maybe I need to find the time. I never thought about getting pots and gardening stuff that way.
No real damage from the rain or wind here. Everything is well watered and some leaves are tattered from the wind, but nothing to complain about.
Got to get off. DH's laptop suddenly fritzed out on us, so I need to see if I can get it thinking straight. I'm just hoping it did not fry... Oh, boy! Peg
Hey all, I just called ILoveJesus99 (Sandy) and she is not answering her phone but has had the foresight to leave a long and very detailed description of the storm and the damage it did to her house and yard. She states that she is okay, but sounds just like the rest of us, sad over the plant loss and the state of her yard. She says it is ghastly hot in the house so she is not inside where she can answer calls. I left her a message from all of us here but if you would like to call and hear her for yourself and leave a message of inspiration I will be glad to share her phone number, just Dmail me for it.
Hi Donna, it IS an event your little Aidan coming into the world tomorrow.. I wish you all the best and we'll miss you while your involved with your family.. and please do steal a minute to post a pic, and it would be nice, if you were in it with Aidan and his mom and sis... but we'll take what we can get.. :) So glad your hair came out okay, maybe I should be a redhead??... Louise, sounds like you hit the jackpot at that sale! I'm tickled pink for you. Hope DH is feeling much better today, I thought about you both last night. Well hotties, I'm calling our sweet Becky cause I can't keep my mind off her, I'll let you all know and pass on your love. And I'm just going to ask, cause I've got Beg and Pecky confused again!! Peggy did you want the coleus cuttings?? Or was it Beck? I went back and tried to find it on thread 15 or 16, but found nothing... am I dreaming?? Looks to be one of those days... :o)
Good morning all. And welcome Wolfie! Gorgeous pictures!
The rain stopped here but it's pretty windy. I went out and took stock first thing this morning and everything seems to be ok except for being blown prety good and the @#$%^!!!!! grasshoppers! I guess they got hungry during the last few days of rain cause they were everywhere! I counted 4 on one small brug alone!!! I came right back in, got my spray and spent over an hour spraying everything again.
I've been working non stop trying to get the hyacinths ready to mail tomorrow. About done! Finally! And now, I'm getting ready to tackle an amaryllis coop! . I'm just an addict, what can I say! :-)
Hope you are all having a good day. I am still going to try to list what I want to get rid of this afternoon. Around 2. If anyone wants any of it I'd really rather just do postage. UNLESS you have wintergreen or lily of the valley! Or something else I haven't thought of yet, that I can't do without!!!
Joyce, the only ones that have bloomed so far were a dark pink. I don't know if they were supposed to be the red or the pink! I have a couple that look like theya re getting ready though. Hopefully they'llb e different
Bonnie, I'm pretty sure that was Beck on the coleuses. I'm not doing anything new outside (except what I get at the RU and trying wintersowing) until next spring.
LOL, somehow that does not sound right, my "except" just blew out the "not anything"!!
Peg, that was a warning.. k? "looks to be one of those days".. lol When you get done with the laptop can do something for me? (thinking straight)?
are we still posting what we have at 2:00 central today?
No, Karen I think that went to the way-side... I still don't have an accurate inventory, but just dmail me if you want something I have or may have... maybe once this Ike thing is over we can get back on that... what a perfect time for sharing.. No answer from Becky, told her we all missed her (and some other stuff)... Karen what would you like to have to help rebuild your garden?
Aw, you sweetheart Bonnie {{hugs}} I will think about it...You know I want a couple of Brug cuttings, I'm SO bad, I know, LOL! I left a long message for Sandy too, did you see my earlier post? She sounds safe but pretty defeated....Bless her heart........
Hi friends, just peeking through to say hi. i am way too busy working on the yard. Will try to come back later on tonight. Love you all, Clem
Okay, laptop's back up. Somehow the little one lost its way to the wireless. ET, phone home! Soo, I got it straightened up. Bonnie, it would be nice if we could just reboot and defrag and everything would be okay with us..
Okay, all hotties, I'm heading for some downtime. Still do not have full energy yet. Grrrr! Lov you Peg
I think I may have little buds! I habe one brug that has two y's on it, and looks like tiny okra pods, but they could just be leaves. I'm afraid to to brag!
wellladies, back again. it takes a while to get caught up. lol. been working in the yard all morning. god, what a mess. my angels survived, beaten down but very little broken. any one need any blak walnuts?? i have a ca-zillion of the @$#%@& things on the yard. i have 5 walnut trees. picked up about 2 1/2 or 3 bushels of pears. does canning pears bring anything to mine?? lol. hope every one is well and BTW, what is a d-mail darkmoon??
Hi all,
Wolfie, you must be new to DG, Dmail is like Email but only within DG. At the top of the screen you will see “You have new mail” if someone has sent you one. If not you will see “Mail” on that menu. Just click it and you can read your private dmail.
Back again, just checking in.
Audrey, I crossing my fingers, toes and eyes for you that those are buds!!
Werewolfie, I do have a recipe somewhere for a pecan/pear pie. It might be real good with black walnuts. If you would like to try it I will look it up for you. I quit real-deal canning years ago when we lost all of our fruit trees (due to old age, not a catastrophe).
It really is quiet here this afternoon. I guess everybody is cleaning up and just taking more time to be outside.
Donna, I will definitely be checking in on you, daughter and Aiden tomorrow. I would be sooo excited about now. :))
Since I just napped, now I've got to try and get more done before this energy spurt is gone. I hate p-nomia. Peg
Oh Audry I hope they are buds, you might have enough time in your zone to get blooms. Hopefully there won’t be a frost for six weeks
TY Peg, my DGD is here with me now, her Mom and Dad went to have a nice dinner out and a quite evening alone before the fun starts tomorrow. I can hardly wait.
Right now I’m playing play-dough, not sure which of us is having more fun.
That P-nomia will drag you out for a while, seem to take weeks before you are not tired all the time. So take it easy and rest when you need to.
MERPEG. i would love to have the reciepe, my email is jimhnrd1@yahoo.com
for those ppl that r curious:: i opened my greenhouse 4 years ago. selling to the public. 30 ft wide and 90 feet long, quad racks inside in 4 rows. was a full time, 7 day a week joj. my daughter managed it for me, and did one hella job. we diud great while the spring rush was on but in the summer, bussiness just died. i simply couldn't afford to keep it going. it was a learning experience. lol
we had the biggest selection of herbs in arkansas, so they told me. just to let u know that have asked me about it.
Phew! Hope everyone is getting things accomplished and gathering hope to keep pushing forward. DD and I got a lot accomplished in the basement and my knees are telling me I was on concrete floor for a few hours... and running (walking) up and down stairs.. Wolfie, if you click on my "handle" (AuntB) on my post a page will come up with options of things you can do.. I think it says "send AuntB d-mail".. I'll send you one and there should be a line at the top of the page that says "you have 1 new d-mail" just click on it, pretty cool! Thank you for sharing about your greenhouse, sounds like I better keep working my job. But I still want a greenhouse for me to use and maybe just open in spring to do some retail.. maybe I could earn enough to by dirt for those 25gal brug tubs.... wind still blowing your breaches off out there (okay, not literally).. I've brought a few plants in. Cat I'll dig some of those lily of the valley for you, and bring to the RU, I don't think you can killl them. Wolfie, we're having a Round-Up for Central midwest Dave's garden people... You are sure invited, it is over by KC on sep 27th... plant swap, pre-arranged trades ;) and food, but the best for me is meeting everyone in person.. I went to the spring one in 07 and am planning for the 27th, and so is Cat and Louise.. our Hottie Joyce has plans but we should all enjoy. Not sure if you and the Mrs. travel much but there are some threads about it on the midwest forum.. Back out to rescue a few more plants from the wind and 45 degrees we're forecast as a low... the "Lady-brugs" are holden on the their skirts out there but they are starting to take a tole. Stingy bloomer Alex and Charles G hanging in there too. Peg, hope you've gotten some rest today, you should take a day off tomorrow. The pie sounds yummy, I used to can and freeze, but no more, no time and sure not enough energy. Donna, I like the hot pink pla-dough ;) And AUDREY!! Never finally came!!! You have buds! I just know it! Congrats-B
Hey all! Donna we shall miss you and sending prayers and wishes for the new one!! My heart is heavy for my southern sissies suffering! Hubbie is ok and drugged lol. Still not passed. Peg I am glad you are having some energy though! Hugs and keep up the healin! Karen tell Sandy we are all thinking about her! Went outside and picked up more stuff blown around and my angelwing red got a good pruning and my brugs just want to lay down and rest lol! I wish the wind would go away!
Bonnie my bruggies are looking sad....they hate that wind!
Ay Ay Ay, "Que Linda" Donna, Princess S so sweet, you obviosly taught her well!
Louise, TY for the prayers and wishes, I am getting very anxious, it’s kind of like the night before Christmas when I was a kid. Even if I knew what Santa was bringing I could not wait for the Christmas day. Hope your burggies feel better, mine are just getting happy again after last weeks storm. The wind takes a toll on them.
Wolfe, that greenhouse sounds so wonderful. I know it is so hard for small business especially those that are seasonal. I’m glad you got to do it for a few years; it is also a dream of mine.
AuntB, I love hot pink pla-dough too, hope the winds have calmed down for you.
Peg, I will try to post a pix tomorrow night but it will be 9 or after by the time I get in. I am soooooooo excited now.
Siobhan had to see what was inside the white one.

Hello Hotties.. and welcome Handsome!!
Wolf y... I can't call you hottie..LOL.. so you will have to answer to handsome!! Welcome!! And your story is funny in a way about the brugs being the behind the barn. Her's hoping the depression is GONE. If it's not ... you have come to the right place! These hotties are the greatest for depression
Just got the phone line hooked up in the camper. It's sooo bad outside. We have minor damage to the house..TG.. limbs everywhere!! My arbor and MG's are whopeyed..LOL.. the worst is a tree that fell on Mommas house. TG again!!!! Not too much damage to the house. It's weird cause the forks of the tree missed the porch .
I started reading.. and even a hurricane can't keep my hootie sis's and Handsome from talking!!..LOL.. I will catch up later.. after dark. Sooo glad to see ya'll again!
Here's the worst pic.. I am soo sad for Mommas house. TTYL
Becky soooooooooooo glad to see you posting, but so sorry to hear about the damage. You and your family are okay so that is what matters most. We missed you so, thanks for staying in touch so we didn’t have to worry. Well at least not too much.
