Oh my.... I just could not get out the house the drifts blocked my path and the plowing did not help!!
♥Sweet Interruption♥ 24
Are you sure your hubby wasn't in the bathroom getting sick Trisha? I would!!!
Snow and Ice can be hazardous enough.. with blizzards.. Kim... Experienced that in Indiana, and I don't think I'd live anywhere that can bring more than half an inch of snow!!
You are a very brave lady Stacey!!
Apparantly since I had 4 wheel drive that meant I could go anywhere-when you drive down an icy road w/ 8-12' drainage ditches lining it, that is NOT always the case-I think I ended up sick most of the winter from those drives....
Not brave, stupid..
hmm...
so.. Geraldo is a moron, then :D
Yup-mother nature is no woman to mess with that's for sure!!
Ya think ; } ha ha ha!!!!
I'd like to think those natural disasters as Father Brute!!
LOL-I dunno-get me around PMS time and I can be a bear-all cranky and can't make up my mind-like weather;)
Has anyone heard from Marion? I'm beginning to worry about her. Stacey, you need a break - I'll take over from here.
We're having beans and cornbread for dinner. Yum.
We spent a little time in the closet this afternoon - DH, me and our two dogs. Tornados and tornado warnings all over the state. A band passed over us and it got a little hairy. The dogs loved it - they thought we were big bean bag chairs for them to drape themselves over us (and lick our faces).
The worst is yet to come. I think the main storm is passing through in the early morning hours. Please keep us and everyone else in the path of this huge thing in your prayers. It's so hard to believe the affects can go so far inland.
The affects are supposed to reach me that is how far he will reach!!
Wait till you go through the big M, Stacey!
My praying has not stopped..
You got it Debra. Hope you have enough dog biscuits to calm Woody's fears.
Sorry but i am the type if my boss said that to me with those driving conditions I would be out of a job and you wouldn't be able to print what I would have said !!! Like the kid who hit us on our bicycle last year, DH says the poor kid probably never heard someones sweet lookin grandma use that kind of language before...LOL!! I don't know which scared him worse, that he hit us , or the names I was callin' the poor boy. Bet he sees every bike for miles around these days.
Cindy (Riverland) posted on MidSouth that her area's on tornado watch too. Please include her Kim.
You have just taught road ethics to that kid, Trisha!!
Yes I will Jaye!
Where does she live?
They showed a map today where this thing is going to probably end up in New England!! I just headed out the door for Church and be assured all of you are on our prayer list tonight!!! All of you take care with crazy thing around{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{BIG HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} from us to you...be safe.
Trisha
We are under a flood warning-got about 4" last night and in for another 6 or so tonight and tomorrow...I'm not worried though-we have a lot of area for run off..
Here I sit roasting and everybody else is talking about water. Sure wished some of that water would come this way.
Be carfeul hiney-ours came w/ 90% hunidity too:( Had to turn the AC back on last night:(
EEWWW yuk I just want some rain it's so dry here.
Well, I'm back... power flickered several times this afternoon during the storms... every time the power goes out, the cable internet goes out too... takes longer to get cable back than it does to get power back on. Then, power went out for about 2 hours this evening, and the internet just came back... so now I'm good.
I just had several storms... nothing really sever... 30-50 mph gusts of wind blew some small branches off the trees... and a solid layer of leaves all over the lawn... we got about an inch of rain (I think, cant tell because our rain gauge might not have measured right since the rain was sometimes going at an angle)...
Nothing got hurt... boats are still floating, gazebo is still standing... and it doesn't look like I lost any of my plants... SO, I'M GOOOOOOD.
A big GOOOOD AMEN there BJ!
Cindy, Riverland lives close to Shreveport, La.
Well, I can't get hold of my gf in Houston. And I totally forgot that my one of my old Singapore friends has a sister living in N. Houston too. Tried calling her on the cell, and no answer. Dummy me, left messages to both to email me. Duuuhhh.
YEA!! BJ IS SAFE!!! WHOOO So glad to hear that. I was just telling Stacey I saw on the news where it had gone over Joey's, sure hope everything is alright at her house.
Now I'm getting gray hairs... Stacey, did you call Sis Kathy today?
Wonder how she's doing.
no damage here just a few of my tall plants are bent over and a few small branches down but it is still breezy and the rain is off an on.
Power never really went off it would go off but right back on and wireless internet is still of and on too
but we are okay
I've been workin on my quilt squares gettin them together and am on a roll so I took a break to pop in and say we're good
Keepin everyone in my prayers to the east as I know it is headed that way so all y'all stay safe now too.
I'll pop back in on my next break ...LOL..on a roll and hate to stop now with putting the squares together....have had this material and started it back in '03
Do we have baby chicks yet? Does anyone know?
LK, good to hear from you... you keep that foot up now.
They reported that there's over 4.5 million people without power today, and some of them won't get it for weeks. That's not just in Texas, it covers EVERYONE who was hit by Ike.
They said that number is greater than it was with Katrina... sheesh...
Some sad news.... I don't know if some of you know the place, or even care.
But a piece of history was blown away today in Galveston. The Balinese Room was built on a pier, and was an attraction for the rich and famous of South Texas... Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Jack Benny and all the stars of the 40's and 50's performed there. It survived Carla in '61, and Alisha in '83... but Ike took it away from us.
I heard that Bj, but I didn't realize the significance of it. The news reported didn't explain that history. Is Gidos ok?
Almost every building on the seawall is damaged to some degree... but they don't have a full report yet... it might take days..
The Balinese Room was a speak easy in it's day too... complete with gambling tables that flipped when the cops showed up...
It had a really rich history.. and was restored and just reopened after about 20 years of disrepair... I was so excited to see someone take an interest in it.
sad news..... something got in my pens friday nite and killed both peacocks, both golden pheonix, and 2 guinnea. wally is missing a few tail feathers and the chickens escaped into the field and are back and fine
Oh no, Kathy, I'm so sorry. I know how much joy those birds brought you. They didn't make a ruckus or where y'all gone when it happened ? What do you suppose got in your pen? Sounds like more than one of something.
it happened when we were sleeping. whatever it was it did it for sprt. it didn't eat them, just killed them and left
Did you find an entrance hole like a tunnel dug under the pen or a hole in the top?. Sure sounds like a pack of something. A weasel or fox family maybe?
i think it was a dog. big dog. found where it got in. i could tell the peacocks put up a fight
OMG... I'm so sorry... Darn Dog. Kathy, was Michael home to help you with all that?
yes, we spent yesterday burying birds and einforcing pens. i cried and drank away my sorrows. i am just heart broken. on a brighter note, jezebell has gone broody
