Who is waiting patiently?? Not me I tell ya!! I have been waiting since Thurs!!LOL But yes-I am glad Auntie M is back:)

Jaye-I have tried giving them road maps and all-they just don't have any sense of direction!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay, took me forever to catch up here.

Tia, I am so sorry to hear about your great aunt and am sending much love and prayers to you and your family.

Linda Kay, been thinking about you a lots before, during and after your surgery. Hope you are doing okay and will be up to your usual speed soon.

Okay, Kim the exotic! Me and behaving? Now do you think all I do is get into trouble? Could be right about that one.

So very happy everyone is okay from Ike. Prayers answered for sure on that issue.

Tinky, yeap I am alive but wouldn't have given you a "plugged nickle" for me starting Friday through yesterday. Don't think I will have a seafood salad anytime soon for sure. One of my friends flew to Hawaii early Saturday morning. Sure hope she didn't get sick as she had the same thing. To make matters worse, the kids (mine) had a birthday party for me last night and I was very, very picky about what I could eat.

Yes, I did get boxes when I arrived home. DD had told me they had arrived on Thursday night when I spoke to her. So here goes: This arrived with the funniest card from--got to go get the card for all the names.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes dear dear Niece...2009 swap..
I never do seafood salad.. always broiled, boiled, baked or fried! Thanks for the warning Marion!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am really getting into the 2009 swap--such a lovely idea and I like the fact we have some time to do something special to say thanks for being my sistah and welcome to 2009.

BTW, we did come up with a theme. Told the committee no theme, no going home!!!

"The Secret Life of Trees"--how trees benefit the environment other than the normal things that come to mind. Instead, home for insects birds feed upon, shelter for the birds, etc so on and so forth.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I hope Kim likes ladybugs! ROFL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

---drooling over your gifts Marion---
you are loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

What gives you THAT idea, Deborah :P

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Poor Poor Kim.. she got to by now, eh!! LOLOL!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

If Kim doesn't then she's in for the sore eye. LOL Ladybugs unite!

Pangburn, AR(Zone 7b)

"The Secret Life of Trees"-- is that the theme for the 2009 swap?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, Marion... I know my trees have a secret life... for sure... look at all the gnomes that use them for transport from garden to garden... and I know I've seen fairies flitting from branch to branch ... I think they're playing hide and seek with each other. And the trees seem to talk to each other too.. my pecan tree waves to the oak, and the oak bows to the pine, and the pine over looks them all with such dignity. There a whole secret life going on my my yard, and I think the trees are the leader of them all.

Truly wonderful gifts you got there Marion... what a wonderful b'day you had (other than having to be sick for it all, that pretty much sucked).

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

She does and comical frogs!! Scared to death of frog but does collect the funny looking one--strange!! Well you know what they say about apples not falling very far from the tree? LOL

Thanks Jaye, I do feel so very much. I also got the nicest gifts from the GDs--they made theirs and are adorable. I have an original painting from the oldest one and a bug collection made from pom pom by the youngest. So cute!! Ds, DIL and DD got me a really nice dremel set with flexible hose attachment. Now the trouble will start for sure.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes, Cat that is the theme for our 2009 festival. One of the nurseyman's speciality is trees so the group decided to go with a tree theme --never used them before.
They have already gotten a group of people involved to do a display, seminar, handouts for our largest room in the welcome center so things are going forward rapidly!! Am I ever glad as the theme is the biggest hurdle sometimes.

I am just curious what the shirt will look like but the designer was really enthused about the tree idea so here is hoping...........

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Ladybug, Marion, the bag with the fire siren wasn't to put out your candles, it was to warn the ladybugs to stay clear of the flames. Just like the origins of the nursery rhyme:

Ladybug ladybug fly away home,
Your house in on fire and your children are gone,
All except one and that's little Ann,
For she crept under the frying pan.

In Medieval England farmers would set torches to the old hop vines after the harvest in order to clear the fields for the next planting. This poem was sung as a warning to the ladybugs that were still crawling on the vines in search of aphids. The ladybugs' children (larvae) could get away from the flames, but the pupae, referred to as "Anne" or "Nan" in some versions, were fastened to the plants and thus could not escape. Pupae are the larvae when they have formed a cocoon and are changing into adults.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Most nursery rhymes have an interesting origin. Most were sang by kids back in the day to make light of a serious situation. Take Ring Around The Rosy for instance. Ring around the rosy, A pocketful of posies,"Ashes, Ashes", We all fall down!
The nosegay was carried in a pocket and called a posie. These flowers were placed under their nose to offset the stinch of the dead during Europe's Bubonic plague, the Black Death. Ashes, Ashes, (the cremation of the bodies), We all fall down, (everyone was dying). Most of these origins are only speculations of the meaning.

And another origin of children's nursery rhymes is said to have originated at a prison in the UK. 'Here we go round the mulberry bush" began in the Walkfield prison and the mulberry bush (actually a tree) is still living on the prison grounds today. Mothers inside the prison confines walked their children inside the grounds of the prison and made up this song and played out it's verses to entertain their children.
"Here we go round the mulberry bush,"
"The mulberry bush,"
"The mulberry bush."
"Here we go round the mulberry bush"
"On a cold and frosty morning".
