Now, Bon, if you're not too tired... do you have a good "Chicken Bog" recipe? That's like jambalaya but Carolina style. Over here, it's the main feature for any church functions, and I can tell you, if there are no plates left, the men will remove the hubcaps for some!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

sympathy swelling... that's too funny.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

OMG OMG OMG I am so proud right now..................Dylan just colored his first page in the coloring book and NEVER once got out of the lines. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Hey gals way to go. Another one to be put on the list. Whee, maybe I will get the meeting ended before midnight!!! LOL I sent a message to all the committee members I wasn't going to adjourn the meeting until we had a theme for 2009. Boy, I bet they love me now for sure.

I am full from my stuffed pepper but all this talk about chickin' and dumplin' and turnovers, I am starving all over again. Jaye, it is no wonder we can't lose weight with this group.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

remove the hubcaps for it.............now that is a recipe I gotta have. I will call it hubcap stew/soup?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, around my house... no matter how much I make, I never seem to have any left overs... so, I can't tell you how good they keep in the fridge for warming up later.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Way to go Dylan! So proud!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey... BJ, you CAN cook!!! Aha!! You're trying to get away from cooking for the masses in May then!! Lolol...
Your chicken and dumplins' sound gooooooooooooooood!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

How about a theme around "Thank got it's not hurricane season anymore"... good for spring in Florida...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I can only cook just a few dishes really well... but Don gets bored with those, so then I get creative, and usually flop... big time.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

my chicken and dumplins are not fattening, well if eatin in moderation. We here can make our selves sick eating it. I promise there will be NO dumplins left over and very little chicken. 4 adults and 1 child and the largest stock pot I have, it is an enameled cast iron pot, mmmmmmmmm so good. Lemon cake is for breakfast cant go wrong with that.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tina, Tia, Tina crack corn... and I don't care!!
Chicken Bog isn't stew, just a rice dish. The rice is cooked in chicken broth. You add the meat, little tiny sausages, seasoning to the rice while it's cooking. More like Jambalaya, but not as spicy. Some Chicken Bog are very soggy.. mushy, which Kel likes. I like them a bit on the dry side.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Passing my plate around... any leftovers will be greatly appreciated. I won't have to cook tomorrow.
Wait.. I hardly cook!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

BJ to funny!! In 2004 we did think about putting the imagine of Florida on our shirts and labeling it Hurricane Alley. Now I can't remember what the theme actually was. Last year it was "Swamp Things' with the emphasis on wetland plants and animals. Gets harder each year for sure.

Can I have my cake early please. Not sure if I will be on tomorrow--wait I can for a little while then have to get in the car and drive. Yuck!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Got to side with Kel on that Jaye, I like things like that moist if not soupy!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, then... how bout tee shirts that say "Ike missed us... nananana"
or, "no matter how hard Mother Nature trys, she can't make us go away"...

Then highlight hardy perennials.

Love it!!! Better than one suggestion one year: Sex in the Garden---pollination.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

ROFL!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Marion, you're a good leader to get folks to thinking ahead of time. Bringing theme ideas with them to put out on the table for a vote will be a time saver!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

mmm BJ says she can't cook uh...I think I have a way to work on that and will get her started around the11th of October when we have the East Texas RU ....*sneaky grin*

no wheel chair for me thanks LOL
I think I am going to have to break down and get the same surgery LK is having though but am gonna put it of as long as I can as can't work and do that at the same time and we are already short drivers plus bills holler to get paid every month LOL

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Handing Marion her slice of cake now, the rest have to wait for morning, Marion it is fresh out of the oven, and smells divine.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis... PLEASE, don't make me learn to do something else... !!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Deborah, I wish that were true!! Just get annoyed we can't seem to get a theme then the shirt isn't anything special. One of members has a tshirt printing shop and he does our shirts. More time, nicer the shirt. I am think about me---I live in those shirts for about 4 days so I want something I enjoy wearing for sure.

Phyllis you have planters warts too? Is that what is your foot problem. I have cranky, no not creaky, cranky knees.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Of course, respect our elders.. there you go Marion :P

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my how delicious!!!! Oh, Kel likes lemon Tia, tina, whatever, can he have a piece too. Jaye can wait.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll pass my lemon cake to Jaye, if she want's it... if she doesn't, Don will eat it, he'll eat anything... but I don't want to spoil him too much.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh for sure just had to beat the SIL out of it. Ok passing small pieces around for now. Eat your dumplins first ladies and gents.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you, but we can wait till the morning for the cake. Kel's been munching on a bag of Jelly Belly! And that bag, he swiped from LK's box!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

actually... Don's off work tomorrow... think I'll go bake him a cake for the favor I asked him for... LOL... he builds, I'll bake... that's how deals are made ....

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am buttering up hubby for the weekend. Need the coop extended, if it isnt raining.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

God!! From cooking..to baking...now to conniving...
Lolol.. wait, I call that negotiating!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

HEHEHE... Don talked me out of baking the cake... and he's STILL going to build it for me... now, isn't that sweet !!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I call it BARTER... we do a lot of that here.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Negotiating is so right Jaye, we would never stoop to conniving, nope this group!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Still, though, BJ, make sweet Don some cup cakes.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I'll go for barter then.

Kathy must be down with her sinus as I haven't seen her post today. Hope she isn't to bad.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh no not this group.. let me edit that :D

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That gremlin's been following you, Marion!

Kel's actually pretty sweet. He'll do anything I suggest right away, but don't expect him to finish it immediately.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am so LOL won't work here. DD is just not easy to convince!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Everytime my computer get low on internet connection it does that. Beat me what is going on with it for sure.
