Everyone sweet dreams

Jaye, what would I do without your signposts?
See Robyn's back (waving at Robyn :~D)
too tired to read all, but wanted to wish everyone sweet dreams and safe nights. Will leave at light for PDN.
Jaye- your box may finally get out of here tomorrow - and please don't croak (ribbit) but the paperwork is wrong - was going to drop it by. When I mapquested your address, it came up north of Greensboro. oh well, I'm not heading to Myrtle anytime soon, but you can send Calabash fish this way any time you want, and the next time we head to North M. beaches, we're stopping by, if you'll let us. Now, if you head up Boston way, you'll find all the baked and broiled fish you can eat, just fyi. but you KNOW NC LOVES CALABASH and HUSHPUPPIES and SLAW. YUMMMMMM
where else can you find a cooking style named after a little redneck village that only had 13 fishing boats, 13 restaurants, and one road! LOL
now, shrimp, I'll grant you, needs boiling or steaming even better. heaps and heaps of it. Put a little ketsup, horseradish, lemon, black fresh ground pepper, and worchester sauce in a bowl, mix to taste for coctail sauce. some Townhouse crackers or celery stalks on the side for a bit of a crunch. Ice cold beer. a hot washcloth wet with lemonjuice to cut the smell from shelling them off my fingers. Ol Lord have mercy! I just gave myself indigestion before bed just thinking about how full my belly would be. reflux runs in my family, I'm on something I can't pronounce....
oooo Marionj and Jaye-I love azaleas, but so few are hardy here and I LOVE gloriosa lilies!!! And again, not hardy here:(
well gee you should visit Tyler in the Spring we have an Azalea trail through the older parts of town as people have them lining the front of their homes...have have 3 by the driveway entrance as they love the acidity from the pine tree needles.
I'm thinkin of getting a couple more and puttin them out back someplace to add some color in the back area since it is so just brown and green with trees LOL
There aren't a alot of things that aren't hardy here that I covet, but those are 2:)
I know I miss my peonies and am going to try growing some here this year.
have one plant I got at a trade and one I brought back in august from Northern Illinois for a friend so we'll see how they do....fingers crossed they grow and are white ones so I can put them in colored water and make the edges turn that color LOL
As a kid we used to do that w/ Queen Anne's Lace that grow wild here-I loved that!!
never used queen anne's lace LOL but me too and I want lilacs here too but not sure they will grow down here :(
jsut checked the weather and it looks like Ike is gonna hit just east of Galveston and turn north to Austin :-(
and everyone above and to the east of Austin is gonna get rain again *ugh* with the rain we had Monday evening and yesterday we were already under a flood watch yesterday.....
Be extremely careful if you have to drive on wet roads, Phyllis. All of east coast Texas is bracing for Ike and I'm praying for all yall.
Everyone in Ike's path be safe and stay dry.
Yes-BE SAFE!!! He beat Tina and won't think twice about beating you all:(
Morning ladies. Hope your all doing well.
We used to pick the wild daisies, and place then in colored water. They were so pretty.
Mibus, I don't think lilacs will grow here in Texas. I was told it has to freeze hard for them to survive!
Have a great day
Linda Kay
Colored water? You mean like a drop of food coloring added to the vase? What color do you tint it?
Blue, red, any color will work, just put the picked daisies in a glass of water with your choice of food coloring, and they will absorb the color in thier petals..
Linda Kay
NO way! How cool. LOL How 'bout that! Learnt sumptin new today!
You can also do that with white carnations. Neat the way they pull up the color and look varigated.
Tink, odd you should mention Queen Anne's Lace as I don't see it much down here but did see some in Canada. How how pretty. It is so delicate looking--love it!!
Forgot about the camallias Jaye, yeap should be blooming soon. I only have 3 right now, Pink Perfection, white star (I think)and one I can't remember the name but will look at tag. It starts out reddish and turns almost purple. Low grower!! Did add some Encore azaleas out front to the wooded area but right now they don't look to good. Fay was a bit rough on them!!
Morning everyone.
Queen Anne's Lace, yeah! Black Swallowtail host. One of my favorite non-native invasives but shoot I don't give a hoot, it's not invasive at my house. Gets ate to the ground too fast. Love it in fresh floral arrangements. And native azaleas are one of my favorites. Just don't have enough growing in my yard (yet).
Queen Anne's lace will grow here Deborah? Hummmm, me be thinking now for sure.
It blooms early (same with spring bulbs) and dies back early.
Okay. Just didn't realize it would grow as I haven't seen or maybe I just haven't noticed it before.
Mornin' ladies.... darn... took me 2 cups of coffee to catch up here... sheesh.
Well, I'm sorry, someone said that Ike was going to hit east of Galveston... and I have to disagree... None of the computer models show it turning that far north. It's still going to hit somewhere between Corpus Christi and Galveston... and still pack a devastating punch. Of course... there is a low pressure system that is racing Ike to the gulf coast... if the Low wins, Ike can turn north sooner... and diminish somewhat... but in all likelyhood, Ike is going to win, from what I can tell.
If Ike does what it looks like he's going to do... he's going to come as far inland as ME as a TS or TD... and probably stall out right over my house... we're talking drenching rains for while...
Ok, enough weather report already.
I got a brain storm too late in the day yesterday and stayed up till 3am getting it all started... can't tell you what it was... just telling you I was up late so you could feel sorry for me this morning... now all together.... AWWWWW
AWWWWWWWWWWWW, poor BJ!!!
But you know you can't keep secrets from us. We will weasel it out of you some how. LOL
Morning, Marion has the coffee, and I think there is a lemon cake out there somewhere?
Linda Kay
BJ, if you stayed up til 3am it must be good! Puleeeeeese ...... pretty puleeeeese ........ we want to know!
NOPE... can't tell yet... it's something for my b'feeder buddy, and I can't tell yet...
A labor of love, and appreciation for this lady... I'd stay up all night every night to get it done if I have to... but I hope I don't have to, cause I really need my beauty sleep, ya know.
opps sorry I meant to put corpus christi ...see I was still asleep this morning when I posted that ...so sorry

I'm late but AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! BJ out with it-you know you can't keep secrets from us. Just "ain't" friendly to do that. Oh well guess we just have to wait and see.
Hope Ike is way pass us as I do have to drive tomorrow. I hate it when it is raining on the Interstate. Will just keep an eye open for sure.
Tink, is the cake finished I could eat some now.
Phyllis... I kinda thought that's what you meant, but I didn't want to assume.
Not sure if you know it or not... but Storm Pulse gets their information from Weather Underground... which is the one we watch here... there's way more info, probably more than most people want to know...

Edited to say that Fox News watches this site too. The computer models are the most accurate...

thanks for the site BJ. Looks like we will get it monday, that is good to know so i can get the chickens all settled in safe and sound.
Good Maaaaaaawnniiiinnn Sistahs! (How am I doin' with my Texan accent?)
Bon, from your history, I must never never forget to leave sign posts for you. I'm directionally challenged as well!
Phyllis, you rest your feet well now, you hear. And eat lots of banana to help release that fluid.
Ike beats Tina!! Lolol!! Only you our niece can come up with something wacky as that. Jokes aside, we'll be praying here that Ike is but a puttytat. Don't want any Texan sistahs drenched.
LK, I'm gonna put some tabasco next time I do pickles. That sounds like it kicks those pickles up a notch. And yes, listen to your doctor.
Seeing very few Queen Anne's lace around here. But they are a beautiful sight. Thanks for the suggestion Deborah. Plenty of space here to grow them for the butterflies.
Can't wait to see what BJ got cookin' for her birdfeeder buddy. Sis Kathy gave me someone who's quite an enigma .. now how do you please one like that? Guess I just pick one I like and hope she'd like it too. :D
Hi Tia.. so, you're a chick lover too? Got too many cats here to be raising any poultry. And I'll be treating them as pets..so you know how that goes.
Debra, how's your daughter's wedding preps getting along?
Oh yea a chicken lover for sure, I just started back in July and i have about 300 birds.
300 birds????
That means 600 drumsticks!!!! Sorry Tia...too close to lunch!
Hi Jaye, that's an impressive accent you've got there! We haven't done much since we left for Canada the end of July. Need to get back to it but she's working, going to grad school, and doing her internship for grad school this semester. At least she quit her 2nd (part-time) job!
You're gonna fit rite in here in Texas, Jaye.
most of these birds wouldnt even make a good chicken wing, they are small birds, BUT I do have about 125 that will be bigger birds to eat and to lay eggs.
LOL I wanted to get some chickens for eggs and poop but DH said no...now mind ya if you looked at my website and at the pic journal you saw we have alot of space behind the house so I don't see why not but he says no LOL
maaawiin Jaye hon I'm a workin on the ankles and if I could keep nanas in the house long enough to get a couple to eat I would have it made but Dh eats them faster then I can ....he eats a couple a day at lest if we have them and the banana trees aren't big enough to produce any yet LOL
Queen Anne's lace is a beautiful wildflower, but I'm sooooo alergic to the pollen! I lived next to a field full of them once, and brought in a bouquet and set it on my counter. Both my daughter and I were sick with stopped up heads and swolen eyes, etc! It was really awful! I do the same thing with Easter lilies! But they're so pretty!
I didnt ask, i just got them and when he got home i said lookie. We mad a pen then we made a coop. Now to expand the coop as they are growing and I need to separate some.
I gotr away wtih bringin harley home but not sure I could get away wtih bringin chicks home
lol, he lets me have my vises. Next will be piggys and duckeys.
I'm still working three days a week and my work keeps me at a computer the whole time. Today felt punk and thought I would take a day off and here I am, at the computer. But this so much more fun!
How do you all keep track of things? I had to make a special file folder (real not puter) to put in all the swaps I joined and what I ordered or want to make with list of things to get the next time I am out. I also started a list of you all with names, real names, and likes and dislikes that I jot down as you are talking. Then are those little notes to myself about this or that and I STILL can't keep it all straight. Oh, well, I AM new to this!
