Spirit of this swap:
This is actually an easy swap for ALL of us here. We know each other prettttttyyyy goood (a la Larry David) .. so there should be no problems at all in coming up with that 'special' ringing in 2009 gift for any of us. And if we don't, there's plenty of time to do so.
It doesn't have to be restricted to crafts, can be anything .. that plant you know which will grace your buddy's garden and bring a smile when it starts blooming .. or even a jar of very much sought after preserves that will delight your sistah in the mornings or at tea time.
Not seeking commercial nor monetary value on the gift.
Just a gift that says: "I am glad you are my Sistah and with this, I wish you the best for 2009".

NOTE: You don't have to join the swap to enjoy this thread.

Good morning Sistahs and Niece.
Deborah, have you gone to bed yet? Or is what's in your hands your umpteenth cup of coffee?
I do hope Sis, you are feeling better. Sinus this year is a pain in the behind and believe me. Will have to try all natural chicken soup with loads of garlic and drop in some echinicea. Thanks Laura.
Oh.oh. someone's at the door too early this morning..brb

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Doctor is weaning me off of caffine. I have GERD. Had a headache all day yesterday. He told me to be careful about coming off slowly. I feel like an addict. Well, I guess that's exactly what I have become with drinking so much caffine. Bought caffine free diet cokes. Not bad at all. Keeping my Cafe Francis though, just in moderation.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I love my coffee, but not doing daily. I'm on Protonix, and that's a major relief. As for sodas, I found as long as it's white, and sugar free..
It's "Calabash" style seafood around here. So when I ask for steam or broil, I get the "oh, they are all pre-breaded". Can't they leave the frying to fried chicken!!
My weakness is hot chillis...sambals...hot oils..anything that puts a hole right through my stomach. The fiery the better. That I have to learn to cut back!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Larry tells me all the time that I have a leather tongue and a cast iron stomach. I love spicy, it's just caught up with me. :(

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Eventually I'll have to give it up altogether! So difficult tho.
I did steer clear off spicy foods years ago, when the only meds prescribed were Tagamet...remember that? I took a break for a year.. :D Color my food dull then!!!
Somehow, Protonix is much better, though expensive. I know.. I know.. the best cure is abstaining..

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Morning all, finally a peaceful moment to myself. Weather is very cool this morning, so I'm not going outside to work until later. I do have to go to the grocery stores this morning, I hate shopping.

I hope the storms and all haven't got your spirits down.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi stranger!!
We're keeping a close eye on Ike, Robin. Hope it dissipates fast.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Yea, Robynznest! Where you been? I've been missing you posting.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Hi Deb, I've missed all of you as well. Work is winding down so now I can try to catch up with all that has happened to everyone over the summer.

If I have missed something important in some ones life this past 4 months, I am sorry. If it was a loss or a very happy time in your lives, I was with you in spirit even though I wasn't present on the site.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, I'm glad you can find some time to relax now. It's almost that time too, to prepare your plants for the winter.
Don't worry about catching up on the rest of the threads. You'll soon keep up via osmosis!
I'm off to do some pleasant gardening chores and pot up some brugs that have already rooted.
Have a great day Sistahs!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning sistahs... can't stay long cause I have oodles of stuff to do today... now that Don is not underfoot, I might get it done.

Ya'll have a good day...

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

You all have a good day too, I'm off to the stores.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Jaye who was at the door so early?

Robyn, so nice to see you back online, now you canjoin in some of the swaps with us?

Stacey, if you get a saw, I agree with getting a new one. It is like buying a used car, DONT do it! We have all learned our lessons the hard way, Listen to your aunties!!!

Ladies you all have a wonderful day, and I will be lurking in the background.

Off to do some shopping, and to the post office soon to mail packages before my foot surgery keeps me planted for a bit!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Mornin' all! I'm still tryin' to catch up!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Good morning Audrey!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Mornin' Audrey.

Well, the rain drove the exterminator away... said he could do inside the house, but would have to come back to do the outside.
So, I picked his brain a bit... and he told me what he was going to use... which is what I'm using anyway... just not in all the places he would be putting it. So, instead of rescheduling him to come back... I talked Don into helping me one day he's off and getting all those nooks and crannies done ourselves....

DARN, and I wanted to hire someone just once, to do something around here... guess I'll have to find someone to do something else... like maybe dig me some more flower beds for next spring... hmmmmm.... now, that would be a real treat.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

It's a nice 65* here! Cloudy, we're supposed to get some rain.
All my plants just jumped while I was gone! My neighbor watered them for me, and he did a good job.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

So I am lazy again. Hello Robyn, glad to see you are back with us now!!

Oh BJ, how sad. I know that feeling --just once hire someone to do something and find it is more or less what you were doing already. I do concur with the idea of hiring someone to dig holes. That is going to be my present to myself for sure!!!!! Having to wear this dumb hand (thumb)brace again is for the birds and do hinder digging.

Deborah and Jaye, you aren't alone with that problem. My "gastro" doc told me to use Prilosec and I haven't been since I came home from Canada. Paid big time last night!!! Off later to get more and some milk.

Greeting Audrey, send you some rain if you send some cooler weather to me.

Tink, new for sure!! Listen to your aunties about this. We can teach you through experience. Must confess I have a laughing good time thinking of you with a scroll or band saw. Oh the pictues I can conjur up!! LOL Got for it Tink!!!

Whee Jaye I hurt just reading all the hot things you like.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, glad I could help.

Stacey, you have been asking for room shots, well yesterday I got pictures of my living room. DH and I haven't been able to purchase much for the house since we have been together. So, what we have is from before we got together or more or less freebies that we've aquired since than. It's not that great looking of a room. We also lost several wall pieces, lamps and the like when my room mate moved out that we haven't been able to replace satisfatorally; over the fireplace is the most obvious example of this.

The place I spend most of my time when the herd of kids isn't here. Yes, this is more or less what it looks like. I lounge on the couch watching tv, playing video games, reading, or most often recently talking you you gals. Notice the huge pile of papers on top of my lap top, that's why I wasn't on last night.

Here is a close up of my "don't touch my stuff" table. Everything on the table, and under it, is stuff I get grumpy when people mess with. Well maybe not my dictionary set, but I want it in easy reach. It now includes my item from the jar swap! Debra (fleursdefouquet) made that for me. I now have a place to put my pens, I get really grumpy when I can't find my pens.

Ok, that's all for now. I have a few more pictures I want to share, but I'll save those till I'm caught up on DG, though when that may be I have no clue.

Sorry, I got a call and pressed 'send' before I got to say I enjoyed you art piece - spider...very modern... everyone should have a 'me' corner..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

OOOHHH you are making me homesick for the farm, always had chickie incubated in my craft room...I so enjoyed doing so...so cute...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Betty,,, how many minutes till you get home to open the pressies? Are you counting Minutes? or Hours?
I'm almost as excited to see what you got !!!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Isn't that black little one a handsome boy? He deserves a great name to have that harem!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

My mom says if you are going to do a lot of inside cuts or very intricate cuts you will want a scroll saw, but for 98% of her stuff she used a band saw.....at age 80 the band saw is the one she refused to sell, and still uses.

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey everybody! I'm up and actually read all the posts since I posted yesterday. Throat feels better and head not pounding. Zman is doing pretty good too, no fever yet this morning. Whatever I have is settling in my sinuses, but I can handle that, at least its something different LOL.
I really want that ;little chainsaw!! Oh what a cool tool! It is a lot like a beefy dremel with a flex shaft.
Stacey invest in the bandsaw first, you can do more stuff with it. For the bigger yard art don't get anything less than a 12" a 14" is better, they cost more, but in a short time you will wish you had the bigger one anyway, plus the bigger ones you can get a riser so you can cut taller stuff.
Anyway gonna go wander into the kitchen and find something to eat. Really hungry for the first time in days. I tell ya, DH is not much a of a housekeeper LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yea !!! JoJo's feeling better... yippee !!!
and the Zekemeister is too.. what a relief... you've both been sick way too long.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Time to raise our coffee cups... Joey is okay and so is Zman. PTL!
Laura, I once had a papasan in the 70's. A comfy thing to cuddle-up in. But I once was a size 8 then. I'm sure, I'd tilt Kel over if I tried it again, this time!!
Betty, you won't have to worry about getting anything from this swap till the end of the year! Next thing we'll read on how you have moved next to the post office.
Joyce, I think that chick should be called Romeo or Valentino. How could one tell whether it will be a rooster or a hen, that young?
Rain just started pouring. And Ike's supposed to be heading towards the Gulf of Mexico.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Jaye...Kathy said it was a male, so I'm guessing since they are called White Japanese Bantams that if it's black, then that means it's the male. Just a guess though.

I think Stacey is naming that little Cutie...maybe she'll take your suggestions!

We had rain this morning and it is gone now. Only getting to 70 so Fall is definitely on it's way to the Miami Valley in Ohio!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Joyce, guess the chickie experts will know.
Picture of present peach hedychium gingers, as tall as the house. It was hazy this morning..

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Come on Stacey, Name that chick... yes, Joyce, I like the black one too... too cute.

It does look like Ike is heading for Corpus Christi, and if it stays its course, LK will be getting soaked and blown around when she gets home from her foot surgery... so, LK, make sure you have all your yard pretties indoors before you go Friday... ok? Ike will loose some force, but will continue toward you, LK, and still have enough strength to do some damage.

However, Ike is just now entering the warm waters and a low pressure system can push him toward a northerly path, toward Galveston, or Lake Charles... it's really too soon to call it, but either way... Somewhere in Texas or Louisiana is going to get a really bad storm in a few days.
